Chapter 2: The Arrival at Loguetown! A Date with Luffy!

~At Loguetown~

The Straw Hat Pirates finally arrived at Loguetown. They had their ship docked in a cove not too far away from the docks of Loguetown. The reason why they did that, was that Luffy had gotten her first bounty a few days ago. So it's going to be dangerous for their ship – The Going Merry – to be at the docks, where the marines would find it and take it into their custody.

Once that's done, they already had their plan on what to do and what to buy.

Zoro was going to find two new swords since his swords had been broken by Hawkeye Mihawk in battle.

Usopp was going to find some shops that sell tools and gadgets, and possibly some new goggles.

Sanji was going to the food district to resupply before heading to the Grand Line – and find some good women too.

Nami was going to the shopping district to buy new clothes and some for Luffy. So she could change that atrocious vest and shorts.

And Luffy had already decided to go to the first thing she came here for, the Execution Platform where Gol D. Roger had been executed.

"Now listen, Luffy, Loguetown is crawling with Marines. Since you already have a bounty on your head, they'll capture you before you can smile. So please for the sake of all good and peace, don't make a scene." Nami begged Luffy, who just grinned her pearly white grin.

"Nah, don't worry, Nami. Besides I'm strong. I can handle any Marines." Luffy said confidently.

"YOU IDIOT! THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT!" Nami shouted angrily, before speaking slowly for her captain to make her understand. "Listen carefully. Do. Not. Fight. Got it?"

Luffy pouted cutely.

"Pfff, okay. Fine, no fighting." She said annoyed.

Nami sighed in relief.

Sanji came in front of Luffy, holding her hands. He had hearts coming out of his eyes and was doing his usual noodle dance.

"Don't worry, Luffy-chan. I'll protect you from -" Sanji began before he was kicked in the face by an irritated Zoro.

"Luffy is the captain. She doesn't need protection from the like of you." Zoro growled out.

He wanted to get it through the pervert's head that Luffy was strong enough, that she didn't need protection from anyone. Especially not from one talkative curly eyebrows.

"A lady always needs to be protected, right Luffy? Luffy?" Sanji said.

Sanji and Zoro both looked around when Luffy didn't answer the question. Only to find out that she had run off into town.

Before they could do anything, they began to feel like someone wanted to put their heads on spikes, or at least make their deaths painful and as slow as possible. But they shook off that feeling and made their way into town.

~Somewhere in Loguetown~

A tall man, wearing a cloak which hid his face, watched as his daughter and her crew anchored their ship in the cove – that wasn't too far away from town. When he received his daughter's first bounty, he was able to track down where she and her crew's next stop would be: Loguetown. He knew that he had to do something as the marine in charge of Loguetown, Captain Smoker, had a record of catching every single pirate that came to that town. He knew that his daughter, even though she ate a Devil Fruit when she was younger, couldn't beat a man like Smoker, who also ate a Devil Fruit – a Logia-type one.

He watched as they got off the ship. He saw that her First Mate Zoro and another crewmate, Sanji, got into a fight about his daughter. He knew without a chance that if they weren't part of her crew, he would make sure that they would have died a painful and slow death. Both of them. He knew that if he did that, Luffy would be sad. He couldn't have his daughter sad. But he'll have to watch his daughter a bit closer now that she's in Loguetown.

~At Loguetown Harbor~

Smoker and his unit were already finished and dealt with those pirates, that had thought they could leave this place without a proper beating.

One of Smoker's subordinates congratulated his captain for capturing Monkey D. Luffy.

Smoker told him that those losers weren't Luffy and her gang of pirates.

"If these are them – that are worth thirty million Berry – then it's the end of the world." He commented.

He also told his subordinate that this Luffy was a female captain, not a male one because his Chief Petty Officer had reported that to him.

Smoker only had one problem, he didn't know what she looked like.

The Officer apologized for his incompetence and was impressed by his Captain's intelligence.

"Then sir, where do you think Straw Hat Luffy is, sir?" He asked curiously.

"She'll show herself soon enough. Then the fun will start." He replied as he inhaled and exhaled his two cigars, enjoying the taste of tobacco.

At that precise moment a beautiful young girl, wearing a straw hat, came into his view.

Smoker looked her over to see if she was part of the pirate crew that they had just arrested. From the looks of it, she looked to be lost. The girl wore a sleeveless red button-up shirt and shorts that went down to her knees and sandals on her feet. Her black hair was cut short. Her chest was bigger than average for her age. She had a scar underneath her left eye.

Smoker walked up to the girl and asked: "Lost, miss?"

The girl turned to face him. He would admit that she was pretty cute.

"Yeah, I'm looking for the Execution Platform, but I got lost trying to find it." She answered. She did look too cute when she pouted.

Smoker's face softened and he said: "Follow the smoke. It'll lead you right to the platform."

The girl then smile and said cheerfully: "Thanks, mister."

Smoker watched as the girl ran away while following his smoke. He secretly hoped that their paths would cross again and will meet her again. He looked forward to it.

~With the mysterious man~

The tall cloaked man nearly had a heart attack when Smoker approached Luffy with a curious look on his face. He was about to jump in and get her away from the man. But when Smoker let her walk away, he couldn't believe it. Fate must be on her side. That and lots of luck. Who was he to go against fate? Plus, he would pay some good money to see Smoker's face when he realized that he just let a pirate walk away without him knowing it.

~With Luffy~

After some series of weird events, Luffy had escaped from the guy who showed him the direction, who turned out to be Captain Smoker with the reputation for always capturing every single pirate before they had the chance to escape to the Grand Line.

However, Luffy was lucky that she stretched her foot and got knotted around the fountain. She then accidentally threw herself to the other side of town using her rubber powers. Lucky to town using her rubber powers. Lucky to get away, but she was now far away from the platform and lost yet again.

"Great, now I have to find it again." She muttered annoyed.

As she walked down the street, she noticed Zoro sitting on a stairway examining his sword. It gave her an idea. She grinned and slowly tip-toed to him.

Zoro was admiring his new sword, Kitetsy the Third. He could feel great power coming from it, emitting death itself just by touching it. He liked the feeling. Yubashiri was light yet deadly. He was one step closer to achieving his goal of becoming the world's Greatest Swordsman.

Zoro was so focused on his thoughts that he didn't notice that Luffy was sneaking up from behind him with a playful smile on her face.

Once Luffy was close enough to him, she leaned forward closing the distance to Zoro's ear and then said loudly: "Boo!"

Zoro jumped in surprise. He turned around with the sword ready to face his intruder. Only to relax when he saw it was Luffy. He got angry when she started to laugh.

"That wasn't funny – grrr – Luffy. I swear I'm gonna -" Zoro growled at his laughing captain.

"I'm sorry. I just – hehe – couldn't help myself to – haha – do it. Sorry." She giggled some more. She put on an apologetic smile, that almost made her glow.

Zoro's eyes widened and he turned away with a small blush marring his face. He frowned too. Then he felt Luffy grab his wrist and started to drag him away.

"H- hey Luffy, where are taking me?" He asked surprised. Even that stubborn blush won't go away when her hand made contact with his wrist.

"To the restaurant, of course. Since you're here, I'm inviting you to come and eat with me." She simply said.

That made Zoro's blush a brighter red. He could feel his heart bursting with warmth, joy and surprise. It was almost like Luffy invited him on – dare he say it – a date. But this was Luffy, he was talking about. So she just probably invited him as friends hanging out. However, she invited him to join her. So, it got to mean something, right?

As Luffy kept dragging Zoro, she halted when she spotted Nami, Usopp and Sanji coming their way. She saw Nami carrying two large bags, probably filled with clothes. Usopp's backpack was enormously filled with gadgets and tools for the trip to the Grand Line. On his shoulder was he carrying a colossal fish with a long nose and flappy fins. He was holding the front end of it, while Sanji was carrying the tail. She waved and yelled at them, causing some people to stare.

"Sheesh Luffy, do you have to be so loud? Everyone is looking." Nami scolded her.

"But it's fun that way." Luffy said.

Nami sighed in defeat, then she noticed Luffy's was on Zoro's wrist.

'Wait. Don't tell me that they... No way! I can't lose that bet! Sanji, you better win this bet before I'll personally send you all the way to the Grand Line myself.' She thought.

Right on cue, Sanji also noticed Luffy's hand on Zoro's. He narrowed his eye in both anger and jealousy. He quickly put on a charming smile and spoke sweetly to Luffy.

"Luffy-chan, why are you with him?" He asked, only to earn a growl from Zoro.

"Oh, me and Zoro are going out to eat." Luffy answered smiling. Before she could ponder what happened, her arm was linked around Sanji's arm.

"Well, why didn't you say so? I just spotted a perfect restaurant and heard it's good. Come, let me take you and you can dine to your heart's content." Sanji said as he began to walk away with Luffy.

Nami was – to say the least – bewildered.

Usopp was wavering and struggling to hold the giant fish, that Sanji ditched him with.

And Zoro... was on the ground with a very large bump on his head. You probably know who did it. He got back on his feet with an angry snarl.

"That bastard! If he thinks he can get away with this, then he's dead wrong." He snarled. He then ran off to catch up to them.

Nami and Usopp blinked only to look at each other and thought simultaneously: 'This can't be good.'

~At the restaurant~

Inside the restaurant, everything was so lively in there. People were chatting. Waiters were scrambling orders. The sound of the kitchen door made by opening and closing it. The food was amazing.

Luffy was watching it all with childlike interest. Her smile was as bright as the sun.

Sanji couldn't help but smile as well.

"Oh Luffy-chan, you're so beautiful when you smile." He praised her.

"Thank you, Sanji." She replied, still not knowing why he kept saying those things.

"Now then, what would you like to order, Luffy-chan? Or shall I order it for you?" Sanji suggested chivalrous.

"Oh, you don't have to do that for me, Sanji. But thank you for asking." Luffy said smiling.

"Oh, come now Luffy, as a gentleman, I must always take care of the lady. And since we're alone we can – you know – we could... um... get to know each other." He stuttered slightly.

It was so unlike Sanji to stutter like that. He never stuttered when he was in the presence of the ladies. But Luffy made him feel that way. Could it be that his love was... genuine? If it was, then Luffy might be the one for him.

"Excuse me, may I sit here?" Someone suddenly said.

This caused Sanji to snap out of his thoughts. His chin dropped to see Zoro sitting on his chair next to Luffy.

"Zoro, you came." She said excitedly, while Sanji frowned.

"What are you doing here, moss-head? Sanji hissed.

"Oh, didn't she tell you? Well, Luffy invited me to eat with her, before you shoved me with your big foot." Zoro answered with a glare.

Before Sanji could say anything back, Luffy said smiling: "This is so great. Now I can eat with Zoro and Sanji. This is going to be fun, right guys?"

"Right." They both said together and forcefully smiled, till a waiter finally came to take their order.

They each ordered their meals. During their meal, they talked about an event that had happened to them. They enjoyed their drinks.

Luffy drank a nice herbal iced tea, while both Zoro and Sanji were drinking ale.

Once Luffy had finished her tea, she got up and said she was going to the girl's restroom.

Once she was out of sight, Sanji and Zoro both started to glare at each other. They each released a very terrifying and deadly dark aura, that caused all the people around them to back away.

"Listen, shitty cook, I'm going to make this clear for you. So get it through to your thick head. Stay away from Luffy!" Zoro growled threatening.

"If you think that you're trying to scare me, think again, moss-head. For your information, Luffy and I are meant to be together." Sanji hissed angrily.

"Ha, yeah. When pigs fly. What makes you think that Luffy would want to hang around with a perverted curly-browed cook like you?" Zoro snorted.

"Oh, and you think you're any better? There is no way in heaven and hell that sweet, delicate little Luffy would ever go out with a green ogre like you." Sanji said heatedly.

Then things started to heat up as their glare deepened. The air thickened and people were cowering away from these two men.

"Do you want to fight?" They simultaneously said.

Before they could launch at each other, Luffy came back. Everything went back to normal. She sat down and looked at both of her crewmates.

"Did I miss something?" She asked curiously.

"Nope." Both men quickly replied.

Luffy tilted her head but shrugged it off. It was probably nothing.

~A little later~

After finally paying for the food, thanks to the kind hooded person, who gave them the money to pay for it.

So now they were walking together in a busy street.

Luffy suddenly heard a sobbing wail. She looked around to see a five-year-old boy weeping. She instantly went to his side. Her crewmates were watching on the sideline.

"Hey, it's okay. Don't cry. What's wrong?" She spoke softly as she bent down to the little boy's eye level.

Zoro and Sanji were surprised by this. It was the first time that they heard her speak so softly like that.

"I... I – sniff – I'm lost and – sniff – I don't know where my m... mommy is." The lost boy sobbed a little more.

Luffy's face softened and gently patted his head when she got an idea.

"How about I stay with you, so you don't have to be alone, okay?" She suggested.

The boys looked up with hopeful eyes.

"Really? Promise?" The boy said hopefully.

"Of course! In fact, we're all going to stay with you until your mommy finds you." She said, involving Zoro and Sanji before they could protest.

Both Zoro and Sanji looked into the kid's big, watery eyes. They went to the side straight away.

About half an hour later, the boy's mother appeared. The boy couldn't be any happier to see his mom again. The mother thanked Luffy, Sanji and Zoro for keeping her son safe. The boy smiled and ran toward Luffy to give her a thank-you hug around her leg.

"Thank you so much, miss." The boy said with a big smile.

Luffy smiled kindly to the little boy before he ran back to his mom and began to walk back home. She waved them goodbye.

"Oh Luffy-chan, your kindness has no limit." Sanji complimented her kind gesture. He did his noodle dance and a heart popped out of his eye.

Zoro smiled a soft half-smile.

Suddenly, a gust of wind acted up and blew away Luffy's hat.

"Oh no! My hat!" Luffy yelled as she ran after her precious hat. She was closely followed by Zoro and Sanji.

The hat flew higher and farther away, but Luffy couldn't lose her hat. That would be like breaking her promise to her dearest friend, Red-Haired Shanks. She turned around the corner as her hat went in that direction.

As for Zoro and Sanji, they tried to keep up with Luffy, but they lost sight of her.

"Shit, where did she go?" They both said at the same time.

"HEY! DON'T COPY ME!" They both yelled at each other. "ME?! WHO WOULD COPY YOU!"

It looked like they were arguing with a mirror. They growled at each other like wild beasts.

~With Luffy~

Luffy's hat kept floating, till it finally landed on Town Square. She grabbed her hat and put it back in its rightful place. She gently patted. Then she noticed she had returned to the Execution Platform again.

Luffy grinned like a mad woman as she climbed to the top of the platform. Once she reached the top, she saw what the King of the Pirates saw. It brightened her even more as she was gazing at the most amazing view of Loguetown.

"Wow! To think the King of the Pirates died on this very spot twenty-two years ago, causing the beginning of the Great Pirate Era. It's so cool!" She shouted in glee.

The people started to stare at the girl strangely. Why was she up there in the first place? Doesn't she know that the platform belongs to the World Government?

Except for one person, who doesn't seem to be that surprised. In fact, she was smirking.

"Hello Luffy-darling, long time no see." The woman said smoothly.

Luffy looked down at the woman who had spoken to her. Her chocolate brown eyes met dark-green eyes.

The woman was tall and slim. She had the perfect body, that would make any man fall head over heels for her. Even women. Her hair was black and wavy. She wore a very familiar white cowboy hat. Men and some women fell instantly in love as they admired and loved the beauty of this fine and perfect woman.

Luffy only blinked in confusion and tried to remember if she had met that person before.

"Do I know you?"Luffy asked confused. She tilted her head like a curious cat and the townspeople immediately melt at the pretty girl's cuteness.

"Now don't tell me you've forgotten me, Luffy-darling. I'm hurt. I've searched for you far and wide so you could become my... First-Mate." The woman said seductively.

"Huh! Wait. Wait, why would I be your First-Mate? I'm a Captain. I've my own crew. So no, but thank you for asking." Luffy said.

The woman only chuckled.

"Well, that's too bad. We would've made a great team together, but I guess my friends will have their fun after all." She said smoothly.

Before Luffy could ask who her friends were, an explosion suddenly happened.

The Buggy Pirates appeared, scaring the civilians who recognized who they were. The crew surrounded the civilians and pointed their guns at them, preventing them from escaping. They even surprised Luffy when they locked her in a headboard jail.

Buggy was standing next to Luffy with a sword threateningly held at her neck.

"Remember me, Straw Hat?" Buggy said with a flashy smile.

Luffy glanced at him for a moment and then realization hit her.

"Oh yeah, I remember you. You're that buffoon I've met." She said honestly.

"YOU'VE A LOT OF NERVE! YOU'RE AS INSOLENT AS I REMEMBER!" He yelled like an angry beast. He then drew his sword closer to her neck. His face was leering with malice.

"Oh, I'm going to enjoy this, when I slice your pretty little neck for the humiliation and pissing me off. I, Buggy the Clown, sentence Monkey D. Luffy to death. Shall we commence?" He said with a malicing grin.

~With Smoker~

Unknown to Buggy and everyone else, they were being watched by Captain Smoker and his Marine units, hiding inside the tower near the Execution Platform.

Smoker watched the girl trapped in the headboard jail and a sword drawing closer to her neck. This caused a twinge of boiling anger to erupt from inside of him. He wanted to rip that clown's head clean off.

Smoker shook that thought out of his head. Why did he care? She was a pirate like the rest of them. So there was nothing new that a pirate was killing another pirate. It was like a habit to them. He ordered his men that once he has given the signal, they would attack and capture every pirate they can catch. He also told them that Straw Hat Luffy was his to capture because he doesn't want anyone but him to capture her and put her behind bars.

~With Zoro and Sanji~

Zoro and Sanji were running as fast as they could. They had heard people screaming about Captain Buggy had announced the execution of Luffy. They had to save their captain from execution.

Sometimes Zoro wondered how the hell Luffy got in a such tight mess. Why couldn't she be more careful than acting like a fool? But he cursed at those who dared to try and kill his captain. Not as long as he was around, no one won't even thought about ever hurting his captain again.

Sanji was like a volcano ready to erupt. When he heard people screaming about some clown pirate was going to kill his sweet Luffy-chan. Nobody and I mean nobody, would mistreat his Luffy-chan and lived to tell the tale. He would show them no mercy.

~With the mysterious man~

The man cloaked in a green cloak was watching the pirates partying while his daughter was trapped in the hand of these pitiful pirates. His body was simmering with raw anger at the clown. Not only had he caged her like some animal but to kill her as well, he had crossed the line.

The wind howled and the thunder roared, growing increasingly ruthless as if they sensed the man's fury. The black and green clouds were getting closer and growing, covering the entire island.

The cloaked man would make sure to get his precious child safe and rejoin her crew to enter the Grand Line. This was after all her destiny that she needed to fulfil.

~At the Execution Platform~

Back on the square of the Execution Platform, the Buggy Pirates continued their festivity of getting their revenge on Monkey D. Luffy. They had been humiliated and got their ass kicked by a girl, which didn't go all well with them.

And as for Luffy, she just sat there looking rather bored than scared.

"I'm sorry. Forgive me, I won't do it again. Please spare me." She said sarcastically.

"YOU UNGRATEFUL LITTLE BRAT!? YOU REALLY START TO PISS ME OFF!? Is that all you have to say? C'mon, there has to be something else that your big fat mouth has to say. And make it short because it'll be your last words." Buggy said scornfully.

Luffy then took a huge breath and yelled to the whole world: "LISTEN AND LISTEN GOOD! I'M THE GIRL WHO WILL BECOME THE FIRST QUEEN OF THE PIRATES!"

Her words echoed throughout Loguetown for everyone to hear. To say they were shocked that this little girl had just made such a bold statement in a place like this.

"It's time for your end, rubber brat." Buggy laughed.

"THE EXECUTION IS CANCELLED!" Two enraged voices yelled.

Both Luffy and Buggy look up to meet a downright very pissed-off swordsman and chef.

"Zoro, Sanji, you came." Luffy said smiling. She couldn't be any happier to see them again.

Zoro was emanating a very dangerous and menacing aura with a glare to match it, causing civilians, marines or pirates to cower in the presence of the Demo of the East Blue.

As for Sanji, his eyes were narrowed in deadly slits like snake eyes. His black leather shoe was tapping on the ground, like a raging bull tapping his hoof to engage in a bloody battle. These pirates had no freaking idea just how close their deaths were when these two were ready to deliver them like the grim reaper himself.

When the civilians heard the girl say Zoro's name, they were immediately scared out of their minds and started to run away like headless chickens. He was more dangerous than those bands of the Buggy Pirates.

Both Sanji and Zoro charged to the Execution Platform to save Luffy, but the Buggy Pirates won't let them. They've to go through them first.

Zoro kept on slicing, slashing a cutting on each pirate they ganged up on him.

Sanji kicked, kicked and kicked some more till he heard their bones crack, and blood gushing out of their mouths. Things were turning into a blood bath.

Buggy smirked, as he raised his sword high, and said: "You're too late, fools. Say goodbye to your precious captain."

Zoro and Sanji were making haste as they tried to reach the platform before they lose her forever.

Just as Buggy was about to slash down, Luffy spoke with a smile gracing her face: "Zoro, Sanji, Usopp, Nami... I'm sorry but... I'm dead."

"LUFFY! NO!" Both Zoro and Sanji yelled as they watched in horror as the sword was itching closer to her neck.

Just when the blade was an inch closer to her neck, a miracle happened. A bolt of blue lightning struck down at the platforms. It busted into blue flames. It fell to the ground with a loud bag. Heavy rain then dripped down on the town square.

To make things more shocking was when the straw hat flew down on the ground. Luffy appeared out of the wreckage completely unharmed. She picked up her hat and smiled.

"I'm alive. That's nice." She said lightly.

That's, to say the least. The Buggy Pirates and Alvida were shocked and were trying to understand what the fuck just had happened here.

Zoro was stunned but happy as Luffy was alright and out of danger.

Sanji's cignarette fell from his mouth. Then it came to him that Luffy was made out of rubber and lightning doesn't affect rubber at all. Boy, was he worried she be dead.

~With the mysterious man~

The man smiled as his daughter was unharmed. Now he had one more thing to do and that was to make sure that Luffy wasn't captured by Smoker. So she and her crew would be able to leave the town in one piece.

~With Luffy~

After escaping from the town square, Luffy got separated from Zoro and Sanji again. She got toe to toe with Smoker, which proved to be difficult because of the Plume–Plume Fruit.

"Ugh, damn it." Luffy muttered as Smoker grabbed her vest with a tight grip and her back pushed against the wall.

"This is the end of the line for you, Straw Hat Luffy." Smoker said as he was about to grab his large Jutte – that was tipped with Sea Prism Stone. When he saw the look on her face, that made him stop in mid-reach.

Luffy was struggling to breathe as she held on to Smoker's wrist, trying it off. Red flush on her face from the lack of oxygen and her eyes were glazed and stared right back into Smoker's eyes.

Smoker could feel his pounding heart beat like thunder at the sight. That face was making her so... alluring like a dream. He felt something he never felt before, desire. Then he was snapped out of his trance when someone grabbed his wrist.

"Don't even think about it." The person said threatening.

Smoker turned his head to see the voice's owner and growled at that person.

Luffy looked up to see sho that person was holding Smoker but couldn't get a clear image. Her eyes were blurry, probably from the lack of air. She could make out one thing; the man's face was revealed when lightning lit up and half of his face was seen.

"Dragon, I never would've thought that you would show your face here alone is so unlike you. I'm sure that the government will be very happy to put you behind bars." Smoker said, glaring at the cloaked man just named Dragon.

Dragon smirked like the devil and harsh wind blew all over Loguetown. It carried everyone away in the air. By another stroke of a miracle, the wind had sent Luffy, Zoro and Sanji all the way to the Going Merry.

"Okay, could someone explain to me what the fuck just happened now?!" Sanji said as calmly as possible.

"How the hell should I know? Shit happened one after the other, shitty cook." Zoro spoke.

"What did you call me, stupid moss-head?" Sanji demanded.

As the two began to argue, Luffy couldn't help but feel that the man, Dragon, was responsible for the weather that they were having now.

Before she was blown, Luffy heard the man saying: "Go, my Luffy. This is your destiny."

His words had made her heart flutter with warmth... and that voice sounded very familiar. Only she couldn't stop and focus on that. She had to focus on getting as far away from Loguetown as possible.

After finally getting on the Going Merry and sailing far away from Loguetown, the Straw Hat Pirates were now on their way to the Grand Line. There they could start on a real adventure and would come across many bizarre things.
