F3: Welcome to chapter 4. Last time we left off Star and company got to Kuchinashi but encountered a team that aren't what they think. Though what else is happening in the world. Volume 5-4: Flight and Fight.
It was early morning in the Branwen Tribe as almost everyone was awake including the leader Synin was examining the camp and checking on their prisoners. She first went to the first cage where Yang and the others are still bound by their restraints though she was mainly focused on Yang since she was technically blood thanks to her sister. Yang looked like she hadn't slept well as dark circles were under her eyes.
The others she could care less about as Yang only glared at her "What? Got a problem?" Yang snapped.
"You know Yang this wouldn't have to happen to you if you remained here with me instead of going with your mother. We can do great things together." Synin replied.
"Yeah you can forget that. You maybe my moms sister but I'm not joining your little band of murderers." Yang snapped back.
"I think you'll change your mind given time." Synin said with a grin before leaving the outside of the cage before heading toward another cage that only has one person in it. Raven was in the other cage almost like she was mediating as her legs were crossed and her eyes were closed.
"Thinking about your future sister. You might as well stay where you are sister cause I'm not letting you go anytime soon." Synin stated.
"Be careful what you say sis." Raven warned.
Synin only groaned as she stepped away from Raven as she waited for a right opportunity.
Though as she was about to head back to her tent she heard footsteps running toward the camp as her scouts came back into the camp.
"Synin!" The female shouted calling to her leader as she looked at the three of them seeing some injuries on them.
"What the hell happened to you three?! I thought you were in Higanbana scouting out for weaknesses!" Synin shouted angrily.
"We were. The tavern their was a great place to get intel but we got attacked." The male stated.
"Really or did you get drunk again? What exactly happen their?" Synin asked.
"Again we were minding our own busy in the tavern and to answer your question yes he did get drunk again. Then this idiot tried to flirt with a white haired chick with a metal arm and proceed to beat all of us without even trying." The second male said.
"So your telling me that the three of you got beat... by a teenager!" Synin shouted angrily at all three of them which got the others attention.
"F-Forgive us ma'am!" The female apologized.
"Don't apologies to me! All of you are worthless! Get yourselves healed before you embarass me more." She said as the three of them walked away from Synin.
She heard laughter coming from the tent nearby "What's the matter sis? Having trouble with keeping your men in check." Raven mocked.
Synin only growled at this before looking over to Shay "Shay! Get your ass over here!" Synin ordered as Shay immediately came over to Synin.
"Yes ma'am. What do you need?" Shay asked.
"Your in charge till I get back. I'm going to Higanbana and finding this girl and teach her a lesson to not mess with the Branwen Tribe." She stated as she went to grab her weapon and other stuff.
"Ma'am are you sure that is okay?" He asked.
"I'm going to deal with this before it bites us later." Synin said grabbing her sniper bow.
"Very well ma'am. Safe trip." Shay stated a Synin left the camp before turning into a slightly larger raven just like her sister.
Yang and the others saw this as Nora and Jaune were both surprised that she could do that while everyone else just shrugged it off.
"Hold on aren't you two a little surprised that she just turned herself into a bird?" Jaune asked them as they shrugged.
"Nah. Mom can do that too." Yang simple said.
"Then why doesn't she do that and get us the heck out of here." Nora added.
"Probably wants to avoid us getting killed. For now the best thing we can do is wait this out and pick an opportunity to strike." Ruby said as Neo nodded. Meanwhile Raven was contempating up a plan that would get them out and away from the tribe but it would take some time to do so.
=SPIR=
Meanwhile dawn had just rose into Higanbana as Oscar had rode into town with his recent aquired ride and friend Khalseei as he went toward the tavern. He then dismounted the horse and tied the reins to one of the wooden beams making sure their was enough slack for the horse.
"I'll be right back." He said patting her head as she whined at him before he went inside the tavern.
He entered the tavern and luckily it wasn't so busy like he first thought as he took a seat at one of the tables.
A waitress came over to him "What you having kiddo?" The waitress asked.
"Um... eggs over easy with a side of bacon if you don't mind." Oscar replied.
"Alright then be right back." She said.
Oscar waited for the waitress to come back but he looked around and noticed that the people that are their are rather nervous about something.
The waitress came back with his meal and placed his plate down in front of him.
"Excuse me but why are the people here nervous?" He asked.
The waitress seemed to flinch at that question but she answered anyway.
"It's nothing really. Just that we had a minor skimerish here in the tavern. Nothing to be worried about really." The waitress replied.
As much as it would fool Oscar, Ozpin wasn't so easily fooled.
"She's certainly want's to avoid talking about it. Perhaps something is about to happen here that might attract unwanted attention." Ozpin said to him.
"You sure. Your hand is shaking." Oscar said pointing out that her left hands was rather shaking a bit.
"Oh um... it's probably just the cold." The waitress said before she quickly moved away from Oscar so that he could have his breakfast.
"That is rather suspicious. Almost sounded like she was scared of something or someone. Oscar I suggest that you be on your guard. Something tells me we might get some unwanted company." Ozpin suggested. Oscar wordlessly took his advice as he ate his breakfast.
Outside Pepper, Weiss and Adam all woke up from their sleep as they were ready to start the day fresh. Plus it was also the day that the ferry would hopefully arrive in port so that they could take it to another port across Lake Matsu and then to Argus.
"Alright let's make our way toward the port. With luck the ferry should be their and then it's a straight shot to Argus." Adam suggested as the other two readied to head out. Though once they were about to depart Weiss noticed something above that looked rather familiar at first glance. She saw a black feathered raven soaring through the skies more correctly heading toward town.
"A raven?" Weiss questioned.
"Hm... you see something up their Weiss." Pepper said looking up to where Weiss was.
"Yeah. Remember when we first saw Raven. She was a bird that then turned into a human. You think that could be her up their?" Weiss questioned.
"I'm not sure. Could be just another ordinary raven." Pepper answered.
"I guess. Couldn't help but get my hopes up though." Weiss replied as the bird continued its path but it landed just behind the tavern as Synin then walked out and headed inside.
As they were walking by the tavern Weiss couldn't help but notice the horse that was nearby as it was waiting for it's rider to come out and Weiss couldn't help herself but go over to the horse. The horse was little surprised at first seeing the girl show up but remained cautious.
"Wow. Aren't you a beutiful horse. Well groomed too." Weiss said complemeting on the horses coat and mane. Pepper and Adam weren't far behind as they were behind her.
"Weiss c'mon. We have to get to the port or we'll be taking the long way around." Pepper suggested.
"Don't worry. We'll get their with plenty of time to spare." Weiss said.
Pepper only sighed but she then heard something coming from inside the tavern that sounded like two people were talking rather loudly.
"I told you ma'am I don't know where this girl is that your talking about." The sound a woman in distress said.
"Don't try and fool me. I know that she was here yesterday cause my people saw her here. Now I'll ask you again. Where is she!?" Another woman shouted.
Pepper took a peek inside through one of the windows and notice a tall woman arguing with the waitress about something but she had her weapon pointed at the waitress.
This looked like a rather percarious situation and if nothing happened the waitress was going to be in even more trouble.
"Guys. We might have a problem inside." Pepper said gesturing to the window. Weiss and Adam looked inside the tavern and immediately saw the problem.
"That can't be good. What's going on in their?" Adam asked.
"From what I heard that woman their is trying to find a certain someone here that beat up a couple of her people." Pepper said.
Weiss only sweatdropped at this "What does this woman want with me?" Weiss questioned.
"Don't know but she's not too happy." Adam added.
"Well I'm not going to stand here and let her do this to her." Weiss stated as she headed toward the tavern door and entered the establishment.
The waitress and the woman looked toward the door and saw Weiss standing their along with Pepper and Adam.
The woman noticed Weiss and grinned "Well guess I didn't have to go looking for you myself." The woman said.
"This woman almost looks like Raven. A relative maybe." Weiss thought.
"I thought my scouts were only joking when they said they got beat by some teenager. But now looking at you I guess they were right." The woman said.
Meanwhile hiding in a corner and not wanting to get inbetween what was happening Oscar was trying to make his way out of the tavern but the only exit was blocked.
"Great. Now what? If this turns into a fight then this is something I don't want to be caught in." Oscar thought.
"Wait a moment Oscar. Perhaps we might have an opportunity to get to our objective faster than we anticipated." Ozpin said to him.
"How so?" Oscar whispered.
"The two females are my students. Weiss Schnee and Pepper Orion. Though I'm a little perplexed that Adam Tauras is with them." Ozpin said.
"I think we shouldn't intervene just yet." Oscar added as he watched was happening.
"Rather young for you three to be out an about. Especially since one of you is a wanted criminal." She stated referring to Adam.
"Heck their's a nice little bounty for him if bringing him either dead or alive. Not to mention a reward for the lost heiress of the SDC." She added which surprised Weiss.
"So you know who I am? What's your point?" Weiss asked.
"I see all three of you seem to be strong and capable fighters. Perfect for my camp." The woman began.
"How about instead of all of us slugging it out the three of you come with me to my camp and introduce yourselves. Don't worry for I Synin Branwen will make sure you three will be kept from harm." Synin stated.
"This woman is crazy. Thinks she won the damn lottery or something." Pepper thought.
Adam only crossed his arms as did Pepper as Weiss answered her.
"Sorry but we have... other engagments. Besides I don't like being bossed around especially by someone like you." Weiss said as she turned to leave with Pepper and Adam following behind her.
However Synin didn't see it like that and took her weapon from behind her back as it unfolded into a gun mode with the barrel sticking out with a finger on the trigger.
"I don't think you get the memo." Synin stated and then fired a shot at Weiss who only just dodged it before staring back at her.
"You're coming with me whether you like it or not." Synin stated firmly.
The waitress quickly fled from the front of the tavern fearing the their's going to be a fight that'll eventually break out.
Weiss mentally check the clock as it was just about time for the ferry to arrive. Which meant she didn't have time to get into a brawl and she definately didn't want to have to deal with this woman right now but with a fight that would eventually happen Weiss gripped her sword almost wanting to fight.
Pepper clenched her fists wanting to punch this woman in the mouth so hard her teeth fell out while Adam only waited for what could happen.
"Sorry... but I choose no." Weiss stated firmly.
Synin only shook her head at them "Wrong answer." Synin said as she was about ready to charge them when suddenly her scroll buzzed. Groaning at this she carefully answered it.
"What Shay? I'm a little busy." She stated as she heard guns going off in the background.
"Boss the prisoners have escape! We don't know where they went!" Shay shouted.
"Shit." She silently cursed.
"Recapture them! Scour everywhere until you find them!" Synin shouted before shoving her scroll back into her pocket.
"Guess today is your lucky day. You three get to live another day. For now at least." Synin said as collapsed her weapon and exited the tavern via the back exit. The three of them went after her only to find that she had disappeared but what was left behind was a black feather.
"Where'd she go?" Pepper asked.
"It's not like she could just disappear." Adam said looking around for Synin.
However Weiss noticed the feather as she picked it up and examined as she came to a solution.
"No. She flew." Weiss said getting both of their attention.
"How? I don't think that she's a fanus otherwise she'd have wings." Adam replied.
"Not entirely. I've seen that happen once and that was with Yangs mother Raven that could turn from human to a raven. If I'm right then she must be a sibling cause she looks almost like her." Weiss stated.
"Okay then. Is that her semblance?" He asked.
"That I'm not sure of but whatever happened it looked liked she was in a hurry to leave." Weiss said.
"Well not our problem now so we better get going and catch that ferry before it leaves us." Pepper said as the three of them headed out. Meanwhile Oscar saw them leave and was debating whether or not to follow them but with was Ozpin mentioned it would be for the best to follow them so that it would be faster to get to where they need to go.
=SPIR=
Meanwhile back at the encampment the others had watched Synin leave which was something that Raven was waiting for a perfect opportunity to escape. She channeled her aura into her hand to activate her semblance. Using a finger she moved it through the air fast creating a small enough portal directly in front of Yang.
Yang saw this and figured it was her mother using her semblance. Raven stuck a hand through her portal and began using sign language. Nora and Jaune were only watching what was happening in front of them.
"Um... what's she saying?" Nora asked.
Ruby, Neo, and Yang watched Ravens hand make signals and signs to understand what Raven was telling them.
Yang only nodded everytime Raven signaled and after Raven finished she retracted her hand as the portal closed.
Then Yang turned to the others "Okay everyone I think mom has an idea to get us all out of here though it's going to be risky." Yang said.
"Like how risky we talking about?" Jaune asked.
"Oh we could possibly be shot, killed and our bodies used as warning labels to not come around." Yang added.
"Great. So what do we do?" Nora asked.
Yang then turned to Jaune "How good is your acting?" Yang asked.
"My... what?" Jaune questioned not sure what she was getting at.
"Okay here's the plan." Yang said gesturing them all to get together as she began to explain the plan her mother came up with.
About ten minutes later it was time to inact the plan. Jaune suddenly lurched forward and on his kness holding his stomach and started hacking profoundly. Ruby screamed in terror at what happening as Nora ran over to the edge of the cage calling for a guard.
"HEY! WE NEED HELP OVER HERE!" Nora shouted as loud as she could as a few of the bandits came over.
"What's with the shouting!?" The female one said.
"I don't know what happened he just suddenly dropped to his knees and started hacking like crazy!" Nora shouted showing general concern with Neo nodding hastly as this.
"Damn it. If one of them dies on us she'll have our heads for this." The female bandit stated.
She looked toward a fellow bandit and shouted at him "Hey get me the keys for this stat!"
"Yes ma'am." The male bandit said. And not a moment later he returned with the key in hand as she took it from him and unlocked the cage. The two bandits entered the cage and looked over the blonde boy trying to find any problems. Yang took a glance over to Neo and winked her right eye as Neo winked back.
As the two bandits looked Jaune over they noticed one thing... that their was nothing truly wrong with him to begin with.
"He's fine I don't what you were so..." He didn't finish as Neo kicked the man in the face sending him to the ground.
"Hey! What the..." The female immediately got hit by Yang knocking her out too.
"Nice hit." Yang commented to Neo as she smiled at her.
Ruby got the keys from the girl and began unlocking everyones handcuffs freeing them.
"Nice job Vomit Boy. Good acting back their." Yang said calling Jaune by a nickname.
"Oh going for throwbacks now huh." Jaune replied getting up off the ground as he was freed.
However it didn't take long for someone to notice that they were escaping.
"Prisoner Escape! Do not let them get away!" Another female shouted alerting the entire camp.
"Okay first we need our weapons and get Raven out. Yang and Neo you two go get the weapons. Jaune here's the key for Ravens cage, get her out. Me and Nora will hold them off then we'll make our exit." Ruby ordered.
Yang and Neo figured that their weapons were more than likely stored in the big tent where Synin stayed so they began heading their first as Yang began knocking away other bandits that tried to get in her way only making sure to knock them out and not hurt them. Neo used her semblance to trick the bandits as she disarmed them one by one getting them both closer to the tent.
Meanwhile Jaune ducked, dodged, and rolled his way toward to where Raven was staying out of the way from fighting as he lacked any physcial fighting but somehow avoid the bandits and got over to Raven cage and unlocked it for her.
"Sorry for the wait." Jaune said.
"No worries. I figured Yang would have a plan so I let her run it." Raven replied as she joined in the fight. Nora already took five members of the tribe and was looking to do more damage to others. Ruby was holding her own already took out two people and was working on her third using what Pepper taught her as one of them tried to kick her but that only left them open to being tossed over her as she grabbed the bottom of their leg and threw them over her head.
Shay did not like how this was going and that Synin needed to be informed quickly as he went to grab his scroll he was met with a boot from Yang as she and Neo came out hold everyones weapons while she already had hers on.
"Hey! Catch!" Yang shouted and threw everyone their weapons. Now armed Nora was ready to do more damage to everyone but Jaune had a different idea.
"Nora! Smokescreen!" Jaune shouted as Nora swapped to her grenade launcher and fired it below her causing a large smokescreen incasing the entire camp.
Once the smoke cleared Raven and everyone else was already gone like they weren't even their.
"Where'd they go!?" Shay shouted looking around for them as the bandits looked around for them too as their was no trace of them.
Shay decided to call Synin and inform her quickly "Boss the prisoners have escaped! We don't know where they went!" Shay informed.
"Recapture them! Scour everywhere until you find them!" Synin shouted through his scroll and roughly hung up.
"Find them! We can't lose them!" Shay shouted as the bandits quickly scour about to try and find the six of them. Unfortuncantly for them they have already escaped from the camp and were out of sight before they could do anything.
Meanwhile Raven and the others were already far away from the camp with Raven and Yang managed to grab their bikes and sped away with Nora and Ruby riding with Yang and Jaune and Neo riding with Raven.
They stopped making sure they've got away.
"Do you see anyone?" Yang asked.
"No. Looks like we got away at least for now." Raven replied.
"Good that means we can rest for a bit. Those bandits weren't going to give up so easy." Nora said breathing a sigh of relief.
However Raven still remained on guard as she checked the skies for her sister to show up. Just as she thought a lone bird was above them and began to dive at them before the bird transformed into Synin raising her bow and fired at them.
"Scatter!" Raven shouted as they moved out of the way but their bikes took the hit as they exploded on contact.
"Hey! That was a custom job!" Yang shouted angrily not happy that her bike got destroyed.
"You know something. I get really tired of all of you ruining things for me. I was enjoying myself until I heard you all tried to get away." Synin replied.
Everyone prepared their weapons to fight almost expecting for one to break out.
"I think you need to count the numbers lady. There's six of us and only one of you. Your out numbered." Nora smirked.
"But your out matched." Synin said as she prepared to fight all of them.
Synin was right as Raven knew that even the six of them couldn't take her on all at once so she had a different idea and spoke out before anyone could throw the first punch.
"Synin! I call for an Agna Kai!" Raven shouted out which made Synin pause a moment before lowering her bow.
"You sure you want to do that sister? You know the cost of calling something like that." Synin stated.
"I know that. That also means you can't harm us when I call this." Raven replied.
"Um... can someone explain what's an Agna Kai?" Nora asked.
"Its something only within the tribe. It gives you the right to challenge the leader for the right to run the tribe." Raven replied.
"So you want to challenge me for the right to be the leader of the tribe sis." Synin said.
Raven actually shook her head at this "I think you forgot one little detail Synin. I can appoint anyone to challenge you to run the tribe. And I know just the one to challenge you." Raven replied before walking over to Yang.
"Yang will be the one to challenge you." Raven replied as Yang looked at her mother with an awkward look on her face.
"Wait. Me!" Yang said rather surprised at this.
"Your own daughter. There's no way that she could match me in combat or be a leader of the tribe." Synin replied.
"Then how about this. Forget about being the leader of the tribe. If my daughter wins you leave us alone but if you win then we'll return to the camp with you no questions asked." Raven replied.
"Fine I can agree to that at least but don't expect your daughter to come out of this in one piece." Synin smirked.
They took a minute to compose themselves as Raven consulted Yang.
"Mom what are you doing? I can't take her on. She'll tear me to shreds." Yang said with concern in her voice.
"I know you're worried and you have every right to be. My sis already knows what I can do. You stand a better chance than any of us to fight her. I know that you can beat her. Don't hold back." Raven replied as she stepped away from Yang as she faced Synin.
"Don't expect me to go easy on you. I'll make this quick so you won't feel a thing." Synin stated as she readied her bow. Yang got into a fighting stance as she prepared to fight for not only herself but for her friends cause they couldn't waste anymore time.
F3: That is chapter 4 complete. They might've escape but Synin is not letting them go so easily. Will Yang be able to beat Synin or will they be prisoners again. Don't forget to comment and make sure to follow and/or favorite. With that this is Fireuser3 and I'm Out.
