Volume 5-11: Perception.

Weiss and company were now suddenly in front of Sienna's house even though this was rather unexpected when they first encountered her. Sienna took the keys out of her pocket and unlocked the door as invited them inside.

"Please come in." Sienna offered as they went inside with Weiss being the last to enter still rather skeptical about all this.

"Please if you like you can take a seat. I'm sure their is so much to discuss." Sienna said as they entered the front living room.

"Momma!" Lyon cried out before embracing his mother by her leg before looking at the other three that were in the room at the time.

"Mom. Who are they?" Lyon asked.

Sienna took a moment to come up with an answer for her child "They're travelers dear. Now I need you to go up and play in your room for a bit while we adults do something talking okay hun." Sienna said gently.

"Okay mom." Lyon said and just like that he went up the stairs and into his room. Making sure that Lyon couldn't hear them Sienna immediately turn to the others and gestured them to sit down in which they did.

"Now... this wasn't what I had expected for my day to turn out." Sienna replied.

"We apologies if we're intruding but why exactly did you invite us into your home?" Oscar asked.

"For one I tend to notice a few things out of the ordinary. Plus it doesn't help that someone is wearing their hoodie up makes me wonder if they're a criminal or someone trying to hide themselves." Sienna said looking at Weiss as she looked toward Adam who nodded meaning for her to take off the hood.

Weiss pulled back the hoodie revealing her full face and her white hair.

"Ah. You must be Weiss Schnee correct." Sienna said as Weiss flinched at that before looking toward Pepper.

"Then you're Pepper Orion. I must say watching from home doesn't do you justice." Sienna added.

"You must've watched the Vytal Tournament." Pepper said as Sienna nodded.

"Indeed. I know I couldn't be their in person but I loved watching my girl compete." Sienna said rather cheerfully.

Weiss then started to putting pieces together as she figured out who she really is.

"Wait a minute. You're Iona's mother." Weiss said figure it out which surprised everyone in the room.

"Adoptive mother but still." Sienna added.

"So guess that rumor that you left the Fang and Menagerie all together. I'm shocked." Adam said.

"Though I am thoroughly surprised that you are here Adam. I thought you would still be in the Fang. So that makes me ask...what are you doing here?" Sienna glared as she asked her question.

Adam for a moment closed his good eye as he thought for a moment before answering her question.

"To honest with you Sienna... I thought after the attack on Beacon I was going to go back to the Fang and start our next move but... guess things didn't work out they like I thought." Adam said looking to Weiss.

"It was Weiss that knocked some sense into me. A stranger at first but soon realized we were both hurt by the same person and that no matter how much faunus or human blood is spilled... there will always be hate for the faunus. Now instead of helping the White Fang I want to stop them and that means going to Haven and preventing it from falling just like Beacon." Adam answered.

Sienna's face remained stoic almost like she was anaylzing him at first as she took into account of his words. She glance over to Weiss and noticed that her right hand was metal so more than likely her entire arm was as well.

She was ready to render her judgement.

"Well... it's about damn time you opened your eyes Adam." Sienna replied as Adam wide eyed at this.

"You finally realized what the White Fangs true motivation is. They don't care who they hurt as long as it gives them fear and respect. Something that I got out of a long time ago. I'm afraid if things like this continue then all will truly be lost for the faunus." Sienna replied.

"We won't let that happen. If we can stop them at Haven then we can prevent any more bloodshed." Pepper replied.

"I may not know much about what is going on but... I have to get to Haven as well and I'll help fight as well if need be." Oscar added.

"Though Miss Khan I do have a question. Is Iona okay?" Pepper asked.

"Last time I saw her she was fine if not a little emotional and reckless but fine." Sienna answered which kinda surprised her.

"I don't remember her being reckless. Did something happen?" Pepper asked again.

Sienna looked down with a distant look on her face "She... didn't take Pyrrha's death very well. When she and Blake for arrived Iona was unconcious. After she woke up it had been three days later and that was the same day... we buried Pyrrha." Sienna said which shocked everyone even making Pepper gasp.

"It wasn't till the next morning I get a call from the hospital that she was out slaying grimm till morning and got hurt bad. I thought I was going to lose her. I'm afraid that if she ever finds the person that did this to Pyrrha... she might cross the line that shouldn't be crossed." Sienna replied.

Weiss was all too familiar by what she meant as she gripped her metal hand tightly as she had already crossed that line one.

"Yeah but this is Iona we're talking about. She wouldn't kill someone just for this." Pepper replied.

"Iona and Pyrrha were inseperable like sisters. Pyrrha helped her gain confidence in herself. I'm just scared that she'll lose herself to her own hate." Sienna said her hands shaking.

Adam placed a hand on hers making her stop to look at him "We won't let that happen. We both know what happens when we're driven by revenge." Adam added. However Weiss picked up something in her statement before.

"Wait. You said Blake and Iona. Does that mean Blake's okay too?" Weiss asked almost frantically.

"Yep. She's fine." Sienna said but that made Adam look away almost shamefully at just the mention of his ex-girlfriends name.

"So. What are your plans?" Sienna asked.

"Well our original plan was to stay the night at the hotel before catching a ride on the train but it needs repaired and won't be operational." Adam said.

"Hm... so that's what the sign reads." Sienna replied.

"You say it like that's a bad thing." Weiss said.

"That's because the military here is preventing anyone from traveling anywhere from Argus. They say its just repairs but that's not the case." Sienna stated.

"So even the military is preventing travelers from going anywhere. That's rather bold of them to be doing that." Pepper added.

"Not exactly. It makes things harder for people that have family that are in Mistral and risk taking a longer route which means they also run risk of grimm or worse bandits." Sienna replied.

"That would be worse. That means our journy here was wasted." Weiss grunted.

"I'm sure their are alternative routes to get to Mistral from here other than using the train." Oscar replied.

"Kinda hard to do that with how everything is. Besides with winter just around the corner it'll be hard to get anywhere. If you head east you'll be heading into a snow covered forest that'll take weeks to cross if you want to get to Mistral. Other than that their no other way." Sienna replied.

Weiss mentally groaned as she tried to figure out what the purpose was to keep people from traveling from Argus to Mistral. Their are a few ways that the military can hault travel from Argus and that would be orders from the council in Argus, the train needs repairs, or a suddenly influx of grimm on route. That was something that Weiss had to figure out.

"Say if the train station was operational again then we can get to where we need to go." Weiss replied.

"Well... yes. Essentially." Sienna replied.

Pepper then looked toward Weiss a moment with her having a thoughtful look on her face.

"Weiss... what are you planning?" She asked.

Weiss got up from her seat "I'm going to have a word with whoever is in charge of the base." Weiss replied which made everyone froze.

"Are you insane!? If they find out that you are here you'll be sent back to Atlas without a second thought. Not to mention put me at risk too you know." Pepper said.

"I know that but it's the only chance we've got. If we can find out what's really the cause of them stopping the train then we can proceed to Argus without any more delays." Weiss added.

"Oh and just what are you going to tell them that you're a huntress and they'll believe you." Pepper added.

"Not exactly that but I have my ways." Weiss replied. The two stared at each other for a bit before Pepper sighed.

"Alright. You want one of us to come with you?" She asked.

"Actually if Oscar wouldn't mind accompanying me. It'll be more credible if they see someone they don't know but someone who is also curious." Weiss replied.

"Sounds like a plan. Though are you sure you want me to come with?" Oscar asked.

"Like Pepper said they would more than likely recognize her if they have a poster of her and Adam would attract the whole military. No offense." Weiss replied.

"None taken. Oscars a good choice. New face, completely unrecognizable. Though you should be careful to Weiss. They can't know that you're a faunus." Adam stated firmly.

"I understand. Once we've gather what we know we'll come back here and fill you in." Weiss replied as both Oscar and Weiss left Siennas house.

"Well I was going to tell you all something but I guess I should tell the two of you instead so listen carefully." Sienna replied as she began telling Adam and Pepper about a letter she got earlier.

Weiss and Oscar walked down the path toward the Argus military base at a rather slow pace as they also took in some of the scenery that was around them Weiss keeping her hoodie up the whole way.

"I'm almost jealous of this place. Such rich in history, and the architecture is very unique as well." Oscar said.

"Argus was home to a great many of warriors and before it became a city it was but a small vilage that grew in the years." Ozpin said in his mind.

"Wow." Oscar said.

"Talking to Ozpin?" Weiss asked as he nodded.

"Yeah he's just telling me everything what Argus used to be. Honestly I feel like I should already know that but at the same time I'm learning something new. Strange isn't it?" Oscar replied.

The two continued their silent walking with the base in sight but the base was in sight even from where they were standing. Though it became rather awkward that Oscar had to make some kind of conversation.

"Say um Weiss... what was it like living in Atlas?" Oscar asked.

"Oscar! That is quite a sensitive subject for her. You don't just ask." Ozpin scolded him.

"You want an honest opinion Oscar. It... was difficult and that's putting it rather mildly. There are two places in Solitas that separate each other. Atlas the city that floats in the air, and Mantle the ones that struggle. While everyone says that Atlas is the greatest city that was ever built. Social status up their means everything. If your not from a wealthy family then your nothing but dirt. Its also... quite cold. Not just the place but the people as well." Weiss said.

"Including my father Jacque who married into the family for nothing more than the money, the company, and the name Schnee. Till my sevententh birthday I had to live with that money monger of a father." Weiss continued.

"Was he that bad of a father?" Oscar asked.

Weiss nodded "I have the scars to prove it." She simply said gesturing to her back that was covered up by the overcoat.

"Now I want nothing to do with him or the name but... if we're going to pull this off then I'll have to use it... again." Weiss growled as they began approaching the gate of the military base.

Almost immediately guards on the other side of the gate approached them.

"Hault! No civilians are allowed here!" The guard stated.

"Our apologies but we were wondering if we can speak to the captain in charge." Oscar asked.

"You are to leave at once! Cordovin has no business with commoners!' The second guard stated.

That's when Weiss played her trump card as she took the edge of her hoodie and began to pull it back revealing her full face.

"Then tell her Weiss Schnee is here to speak with her." Weiss stated firmly. The guards jaws slacked opened seeing who was in front of them.

"Well. Go get her! Now!" Weiss shouted as the guards fumbled as they left their post to get their captain.

"Wow... you sure this is going to work?" Oscar asked.

"Oh it will. Once she see's that it's me we can have a little chat." Weiss answered.

After about a five minute wait the two guards returned with what she assumed it was the commander of the base but she was rather short for a commander.

"Ah. Miss Schnee, so good to see that you are unharmed." The woman replied.

"I believe that you must be Commander Cordovin right." Weiss replied.

"Yes. Caroline Cordovin and I'm in charge of this base. Though I must say you look rather beautiful in person." Caroline stated.

"I wouldn't flatter yourself. Though their is something I want to ask of you commander." Weiss said.

"Would you like us to arrange some transportation for you to return home. I'm certain your father misses you dearly." Cordovin replied.

Weiss only glared at her disapprovingly.

"No. What I want to know is why the military isn't allowing trains to leave or enter Argus?" Weiss questioned.

"I'm afraid Miss Schnee we cannont answer that at this given time." One of the guards replied.

"So that means you know what it is but not sure how to combat it." Oscar replied.

"I am a huntress and whatever problem it is I'm certain I can help with it." Weiss added.

Cordovin was rather unsure about it but she decided to converse her information with her even though she wasn't supposed to.

"Very well. We've been recieving reports about a suddenly energy surge on the tracks. I sent men to investigate but came up with nothing like they don't even know where to even begin to look." Cordovin replied.

"And this energy surge is on the tracks you said. You think it could be grimm." Weiss replied.

"We're not exactly sure. Since it appears none of my men could locate where the source is. Though I wouldn't want to impose upon you to handle such a task Miss Schnee." Cordovin said.

"None at all. I'd be happy to help with this situation." Weiss added as both her and Oscar were about to leave Cordovin spoke again.

"The quickier this situation is handled the better. Though I do have one question to ask Miss Schnee?" Cordovin asked.

"And what would that be?" Weiss said.

"Would you like us to contact your father to know that you're safe. Certainly he has heard about what had happened at Beacon. Would you like us to let him know?" Cordovin asked.

Weiss was at first torn whether or not Jacque should know she was alive or not. Her other half keeps telling her that her father deserves to not know that she was alive and have him worry constantly, if the man even cares about her.

"No. He doesn't need to know anything. I'd prefer that he didn't." Weiss said as she and Oscar left the military base behind leaving behind a rather shocked commander and her guards.

"You really thing they'll abide by what you say?" Oscar said.

"Nope. More than likely they're going to call him if they aren't doing it right now." Weiss replied not bothering to look back as they made their way back to Sienna's house.

When Weiss and Oscar left Sienna immediately brought Pepper and Adam attention to her.

"So I was going to tell you all something but I guess I can tell the two of you instead so listen carefully." Sienna replied.

"What is it?" Pepper asked.

"Earlier this morning I recieved a letter from a reliable source that I think you want to hear." Sienna answered as she retrieved the letter though Adam could tell where the letter came from by the insigna that was on the letter.

"A letter from the White Fang? Why would they send you a letter?" Adam asked.

"Not them but someone within the Fang. How do you think I keep tabs on them even though I've retired." Sienna said.

"And what does the letter say?" Pepper questioned.

"Nothing good I'll tell you that. Apparently from what it says they moved up their schedule about to month to attack Haven academy. Also says that Ilia has teamed up with another group that has more weapons for the White Fang to use." Sienna stated.

"That doesn't give us a lot of time then. We need to handle what's here and get on our way." Adam replied.

"And worse is they have more people. I bet it's the same people that attacked Beacon." Pepper added.

"No doubt but that'll only make them more dangerous now. Especially if they have more weapons." Adam replied.

"Yes but I also recieved another letter. It's from Iona saying that they need some help getting transportation for their people at Menagerie. I'm not sure what that means but I've been trying to get transport to them." Sienna said.

"If Iona is sending a message like that then that means she must have a plan then." Pepper stated.

"I just hope that it's a good plan otherwise it'll end up just like Beacon." Sienna said back.

The place became quiet for a moment as they waited for Weiss and Oscar to return.

"So... Miss Khan. What was Iona like back then?" Pepper asked wanting to know a little more about her teammate.

"Well... when she and her parents lived on Menagerie she was always so bright and playful, played with the other kids no matter who they were. Though it was after her parents were killed... she became rather shy distant from the kids until me and Lucus took her into our home." Sienna began.

"And that's when you decided to step down from the White Fang and moved away." Adam interjected.

"Yes. We know that a lot of the kids would miss her including Blake but we wanted to do what was best for her and respected her parents wishes. Though she changed once we moved into Argus and... losing Lucious became rather difficult." Sienna added wiping away a small tear.

"After that she wanted to enter Sanctum Academy but I believe Iona felt... like an outsider when she went their. She came home one day with bruises on her face because she got into a fight with someone at the academy. Then one day... she came home with a friend." Sienna said.

"Pyrrha." Pepper added as Sienna nodded.

"It was the first time in a while I've seen her smile like that." Sienna said smiling a little herself.

"I only wish that she could smile again." She added looking away for a moment as no one said a word.

A moment later the door opened revealing Weiss and Oscar returning from their trip to the military base and Pepper was immediately on her feet.

"Well... did you find anything?" Pepper asked.

"Yeah. Apparently from what we've gathered their is a strange energy source that they are worried about and not sure how to handle it. They fear that it might be a new type of grimm." Weiss replied.

"All we know is that it's coming from inside the train station itself. It could be anywhere." Oscar added.

"So we have an unknown source of energy that could be grimm delaying the train for who knows how long. And why hasn't the military done anything?" Adam asked.

"Probably because those military bums have no idea what their dealing with." Pepper answered.

"Well... our best bet is to check it out and see what it really is. I have my doubts but let's keep an open mind." Weiss said.

"Better if we check it out now instead of waiting." Adam replied as they all agreed before deciding to head out.

"Thank you for the hospitality Sienna but we shouldn't take up more of you time." Weiss said.

"Oh no its fine. I don't get guest often so feel free to come by anytime. Although Weiss their is place you might want to consider checking out later if your interested." Sienna replied getting Weiss's attention.

"Really? Where?" Weiss asked.

"It's a law firm on the central strip. I think you'll recognize it when you see the name." Sienna stated as she allowed the group of four to leave so they could go about their business with Sienna giving a small chuckle.

Weiss didn't know what she was talking about but instead focused on the main issue at hand and that was getting the train up and going again so they could get to their main goal of Haven Academy.
