Onward to Mount Hokulani
The group is currently on Route 10 on their way to the Hokulani Observatory on Mount Hokulani where their next trial awaits them. Right now, Jimmy was facing another boy. Jimmy was holding a pokeball while the boy he was facing was holding a Dive Ball. The Eds, Sarah, and Maxiley watched.
"Butterfree, go!" said Jimmy, throwing Butterfree's pokeball and releasing him.
"Mareanie, let's go!" said the boy, throwing the Dive Ball and releasing a purple, stalk-like Pokemon that had light blue tentacles with purple spikes on them on the top of its head. Edd takes out the Rotom Dex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Mareanie, the Brutal Star Pokemon. Aside from its head, its body parts regenerate quickly if they're cut off. After a good night's sleep, Mareanie is back to normal." said the Rotom Dex.
"Butterfree, use Confusion!" said Jimmy. Butterfree's eyes glowed blue and Mareanie gets sent flying back and falls to the ground, receiving super effective damage.
"Mareanie, Poison Sting!" said Mareanie's trainer. Mareanie jumps up and spins around, firing purple darts from the spikes on its tentacles and they hit Butterfree, dealing damage to him. It turned dark purple under Butterfree's eyes.
"Jimmy, Butterfree's poisoned!" said Edd.
"Don't let poison get to you, Butterfree!" said Jimmy. Butterfree lets out a yell and the poison was expelled from his body.
"No! I was going to use Venoshock next!" exclaimed Mareanie's trainer.
"Your Mareanie won't be able to after this." said Jimmy. "Butterfree, Psybeam!" Butterfree fires a multicolored beam from his eyes, and it hits Mareanie, dealing super effective damage to it and knocking it out.
"Jimmy wins!" cheered Ed.
"Way to go, Jimmy!" said Maxiley. Mareanie's trainer returned Mareanie to its Dive Ball. He puts it away and walks to Jimmy.
"Good battle." said Mareanie's trainer.
"Thanks." replied Jimmy. Mareanie's trainer gives Jimmy pokedollars and he walks away. As they watched Mareanie's trainer leave, Ed hears rustling from up in a tree. Ed sees a Pokemon that resembled a bluish green pinecone with eyes fall from the tree.
"What's that, Double D?" asked Ed, pointing at the Pokemon. Edd points the Rotom Dex at it.
"Pineco, the Bagworm Pokemon. It sticks tree bark to itself with its saliva, making itself thicker and larger. Elderly Pineco are ridiculously huge." said the Rotom Dex. Ed pulls a pokeball out of his pocket.
"Are you going to try catching this Pokemon, Ed?" asked Eddy.
"You bet your sweet bippy I am." replied Ed. "Flareon, go!" He throws Flareon's pokeball and releases her. "Flareon, Fire Fang!" Flareon leaps at Pineco while her mouth was covered in flames and bites it, dealing super effective damage. Fire surrounded Pineco's body.
"Pineco's burned." said Edd. Pineco jumps at Flareon and rams her, knocking her back. Pineco winces in pain. "I think that Pineco used Take Down; it causes recoil damage." Pineco then winces in pain from its burn and was starting to lose balance. Ed takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Pineco. It hits Pineco and sucks it in; it wiggled around until it clicks, indicating Pineco's capture.
"I caught a Pineco!" said Ed. Pineco's pokeball vanishes and is transported to storage. Edd looks up Pineco's information on the Rotom Dex.
"This says Pineco's a bug type, it's a boy, he knows Tackle, Protect, Self-Destruct." said Edd. Ed winces when he hears 'Self-Destruct'. "Bug Bite, Take Down, Rapid Spin, Bide, Natural Gift, and Spikes. He has the Sturdy ability, which I'm sure you recall, prevents a Pokemon with the ability from being taken down in one hit."
"Hey, Ed; I noticed you looked a little upset with something Edd said." said Maxiley.
"Probably that Self-Destruct move I mentioned." said Edd. "Ed hates moves that makes the Pokemon blow itself up." Maxiley smiles at Ed in response.
The group took their time to train their Pokemon to prepare for the next trial while Maxiley does the same to prepare for the next time he faces Mask Royal.
Ed's Decidueye learned Sucker Punch, his Grimer learned Screech, Gigalith learned Stealth Rock, his Ampharos learned Power Gem, his Seel learned Brine, and his Flareon learned Scary Face and Smog. During the training, Ed's Seel began glowing.
"Hey, my Seel's evolving!" said Ed. When Seel stopped glowing, his body, flippers, and tail were now longer. Edd points the Rotom Dex at Ed's newly evolved Seel.
"Dewgong, the Sea Lion Pokemon, and the evolved form of Seel. It sunbathes on the beach after meals. The rise in its body temperature helps its digestion." said the Rotom Dex.
"And according to this, Ed; your Dewgong learned Sheer Cold upon evolving." said Edd.
"Cool." said Ed.
Edd's Primarina learned Hyper Voice, his Toucannon learned Drill Peck, his Ariados learned Agility, his Magneton got stronger, his Stoutland learned Retaliate, and his Espeon Morning Sun.
Eddy's Incineroar learned Thrash, his Charjbug learned Dig, his Meowth learned Pay Day (which made him happy when he learned what it did) and Slash, his Noibat learned Tailwind, his Leafeon learned Swords Dance and Synthesis, and his Poliwrath just got stronger.
Sarah's Blissey learned Light Screen, her Ledian learned Agility, her Mrs Mime learned Trick, her Alomomola learned Wish, her Salandit learned Nasty Plot, and her Jolteon learned Thunder Fang, Pin Missile, Agility, and Thunder Wave. Sarah's Salandit suddenly began to glow.
"My Salandit's evolving!" said Sarah. Sarah and everyone else watched as Salandit began to grow. When Salandit stopped glowing, her body was longer, and she had purple and dark pink markings on her underbelly and underneath her tail. Edd points the Rotom Dex at the newly evolved Salandit.
"Salazzle, the Toxic Lizard Pokemon and the evolved form of Salandit. It punishes Salandit that couldn't bring it food with a fierce slap of its flame-spewing palm." said the Rotom Dex.
"And it appears your Salazzle just learned Captivate when she evolved." said Edd. Sarah smiles in response.
Jimmy's Lucario learned Bone Rush, his Butterfree learned Rage Powder, his Alolan Raichu got stronger, his Wishiwash learned Beat Up, his Lycanroc learned Rock Slide, and his Umbreon learned Moonlight.
Maxiley's Pupitar learned Dark Pulse, his Crabrawler learned Reversal, his Vaporeon learned Haze, his Bonsly Tearful Look, Rock Tomb, Block, and Rock Slide; his Phantump learned Leech Seed, Curse, Will-O-Wisp, and Forest's Curse; and Natu learned Confuse Ray, Wish, and Psychic. During the training, Maxiley's Bonsly and Natu both froze up and started to glow.
"Hey! My Pokemon are evolving!" said Maxiley. Everyone watched as Bonsly and Natu started to change. When they finished, his Bonsly was a Sudowoodo; and his Natu had a taller body, he had large white, black and red-tipped wings, two long red feathers going down the back of his head, on his torso was what looked like red eyes, plus two yellow lines going around the bottom of his body.
"What's Natu now?" asked Sarah. Edd takes out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at Maxiley's newly evolved Pokemon.
"Xatu, the Mystic Pokemon, and the evolved form of Natu. While it can see the future, it has no desire to change it, which is probably why it remains motionless at all times." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Congratulations, Maxiley." said Edd. "And it appears your Xatu learned Air Slash after evolving."
"All right!" cheered Maxiley. After that, the six continued walking through Route 10 when Sarah sees a small, panda bearlike Pokemon walking out of some tall grass.
"Hey, Double-D, what's that?" asked Sarah. Edd points the Rotom Dex at the Pokemon.
"Pancham, the Playful Pokemon. It's desperate to intimidate its opponents. Be nice and pretend to be scared if you catch it glaring at you intensely." said the Rotom Phone.
"It looks so cuddly." said Sarah with glee. She pulls a pokeball out of her pocket. "I'm catching this one. Mrs. Mime, go!" She throws Mrs. Mime's pokeball and releases her. "Okay, Mrs. Mime, use Psybeam!" Mrs. Mime holds out an open hand and fires a multicolored beam of energy out of her palm and it hits Pancham, dealing super effective damage to it. Pancham runs at Mrs. Mime and unleashes a barrage of punches at her, knocking her to the ground. "Oh yeah?! Mrs. Mime, Double Slap!" Mrs. Mime gets back up and runs at Pancham; she slaps it repeatedly across the face, making it stumble back and fall to the ground. Sarah takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Pancham, hitting it, and sucking it in. After it wiggled around for a few seconds, it clicks, indicating Pancham's capture. "I did it! I captured Pancham!"
"Good work, Sarah." said Ed.
"You go, Sarah." said Jimmy. Pancham's pokeball vanishes. Edd looks up Pancham's information on the Rotom Dex.
"This says Pancham is a fighting type, it's a girl, she knows Tackle, Leer, Arm Thrust, Work Up, Karate Chop, Comet Punch, Slash, and Circle Throw." said Edd. "She has the Iron Fist ability, which makes her punching moves stronger."
After returning Mrs. Mime to her pokeball, the group continued walking up Route 10 until they reach a bus stop at the bottom of a very tall mountain.
"Whoa." said Eddy as he looks up at the mountain. "This is something we wouldn't have seen back in the Cul-De-Sac."
"Indeed." said Edd. "This must be Mount Hokulani." They see a bus at the stop with some people climbing onboard and go over to it.
"Are you heading up to the observatory?" asked the bus driver.
"Yes, we are." said Edd. The group then climbs onboard and get into seats, with some of the girls that were on the bus, asking the Eds to sit with them, making Eddy smile. Once they were seated, the bus heads towards its destination.
