Title: Full Reset
Summary: Basically every named girl came back.
I nervously kneeled before the Queen. I did not know why I had been called to her office. I had just returned from collecting Luxion and paying off my family's debts. Did she know that I had skimped on my taxes by underreporting my findings? I had thought that the amount I reported was large enough that no one would consider the frankly ludicrous amount I did find to be in the realm of possibility. It was honestly an absurd number that could buy the kingdom.
"Sir Leon, you may rise," the Queen said.
As I rose, I saw her expression. She seemed amused. That was good, probably. At the very least, she wouldn't execute me or send me to the dungeons for tax evasion. She was either thinking of leniency (probably due to my age), or she was a sadist that got off on playing with her prey. Knowing the game, she was playing with her food.
"You seem nervous, Sir Leon."
"Apologies, Your Majesty. I'm a simple baronet. The idea that I would be standing here before you is overwhelming."
"Oh my, and what do you find about me overwhelming?"
"Having the attention of someone as beautiful as yourself."
Curse my panicked mouth. I said something that could get me in trouble due to the impropriety of the statement. Though, it was the truth. She is roughly around my mental age, and my mind could not help but want her.
"Oh my, Leon. For someone so young, you certainly are the flatterer. You can't possibly be attracted to someone as old as myself," the Queen said.
It sounded like someone scolding a young child. Scratch that. It should have sounded like someone scolding a young child. I got the exact opposite impression. I got the distinct vibe that it was an invitation. I don't know why.
Maybe it was the lack of heat in the Queen's voice. Perhaps it was the smile. It seemed more sultry rather than amused. More likely (and probably something Luxion would suggest), my mind was playing tricks on me.
Well, in for a penny.
"How could I not be attracted by the mere sight of you? Regardless of age, you are the definition of unparalleled beauty."
"I have children, though. That must certainly be unattractive."
"It merely proves you are capable of birthing and raising children. I would think that would be the epitome of womanly charm."
"My son is your age."
"You must have had him quite young."
"I'm also married."
"That still does not deter from your beauty. While I will respect the distance between us, I must confess that I wish I could find myself in a position to admire your visage."
"Do you truly mean that?"
"Yes," I said without any hint of deceit.
"Would you like to become my knight then, Leon?"
I acquiesced before thinking. It was the natural progression of the conversation, but I couldn't help cursing my hormones. This was a recipe for disaster. If the Queen was interested, I was about to cuck the King, which would inevitably lead to an execution. If this was a ploy by the Queen, I just signed my life away to her whims. But there was no out at this point.
After performing a small private ceremony in which I pledged myself to her, I remembered I was called in for a reason.
"My Queen, I recall you called me here for a reason. Might I ask what it is you originally wished to discuss?"
"Tax evasion," the Queen said with a wicked smile.
"Excuse me?" I said with a small uncontrollable whimper.
"You are easy to tease, Leon. It was rather cute. Truthfully, I wanted to grant your promotion to Baron personally. Though, with that reaction, did you perchance lie about how much you found on your adventure?"
The Queen held herself with a finger touching the side of her mouth. It did interesting things with her bust. She was doing this on purpose.
"You're teasing me."
"You learn fast."
I walked out of the meeting exhausted. Mylene dismissed me on the pretense she still had a country to run. If it weren't for the stacks of forms on her desk, I imagined she would have continued toying with my heart.
"You are scum, Master."
"Me?! Why am I the bad guy?"
"You are thinking of tempting the Queen."
"She's my age!"
"Only mentally. Physically you are still a child. What would the public think of the Queen should you try seducing her."
Before I could respond, Luxion disappeared. Looking around, I cringed as I saw who was approaching me. Just great, the villainess was walking towards me. I did not want to deal with that can of worms. Either she was as bitchy as the game made her out to be, or she was a reasonable human being, which would guilt trip me into helping her when she inevitably jumpstarts the war with the Fanoss Principality.
"Greetings, Lord Leon," the girl said with a curtsy.
"Greetings, heiress Redgrave. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Might I ask, how did you know who I am and my title?"
"I could ask you the same. I had not introduced myself, and you knew who I was."
"I would hope that the knights and nobles of Holtfort knew their future Queen."
"I suppose that would be a reasonable explanation," the villainess sighed.
"You seem... disappointed."
"My apologies. I did not wish to burden you with my problems," the girl said hurriedly.
The villainess was surprisingly thoughtful, though perhaps my initial negative impression was a preconceived notion that her bitchy persona from the game was an accurate depiction. Now that I think about it, I was always on the villainess's side, given how the game revolved on literally cuckqueaning her. If anything, the honor duel was tame. I've seen girls claw each other's eyes out for less.
Feeling bad for the girl's fate, I opened myself to her woes.
"It's no problem. I am open to hearing out what you have to say. Who knows, maybe I have a solution, or maybe venting your problems is all you need."
"You're quite kind."
"Err... what were you expecting?"
"Someone a little bit more tongue in cheek."
"Would you prefer it if I were?"
"Whatever you feel comfortable with."
Before I could head home, I saw a group of guys heading in my direction.
"Lord Leon, Lady Clarice would like to meet you?"
"Why?"
"Clarice has a habit of picking up talented individuals as vassals. With your recent promotion, she wanted to meet you."
"To assess me?"
"Are you opposed to the idea?"
"Not at all, but I recently swore myself to the Queen. I'm not certain I can act as Lady Clarice's vassal."
The boys stared at me in disbelief.
"You managed to secure a position as the Queen's knight? How?"
"I dunno."
I would not admit to potentially seducing the Queen.
"Clarice's intuition was always good, but she'll be disappointed nonetheless," the leader grumbled as he scratched his head.
"I could at least meet her. It's not like I need to be her official vassal," I said placatingly. It never hurt to make connections in high places.
"Thanks, Lord Leon."
"Just Leon. I'm not comfortable with noble etiquette."
"Sure. You can call me Dan."
I stared at the airbike being transported onto my ship. Luxion was happy enough, but I was terrified. Who gives an airbike to someone they met once?
"Why is Merce in the kitchen?"
Perhaps I should go to town for lunch. This could be Zola's hair-brained scheme to poison me. The loud noises I heard certainly did not inspire courage in me to try whatever Merce made.
My brother and I stared at this one girl with tube curls looking at us. She was accompanied by someone I could only assume was her older sister.
"Disappointed," the younger girl said after looking at me.
Bitch.
"Don't be like that, Deirdre. Men need time to grow into what they need to be."
Even though the elder sister said that to her sister, she stared hungrily at Nick.
My brother shivered under her gaze.
"Nick, I think this is your chance. Why don't you go introduce yourself?"
"That's Dorothea. She's notorious for rejecting her suitors and how she does so."
"Okay, but she seems interested. Go talk to her," I said while pushing my brother.
I watched as the two interacted. After Nick got over his first impressions, he grew more relaxed. He and Dorothea seemed to be having a fun conversation. None of us saw the collar coming.
"Big Bro!"
"Leon, how the hell did you get a girl already? You haven't entered through the gate yet," my sister yelled in surprise.
"Get your claws off of him, you whore," the villainess roared.
"So you're telling me you are my sister reincarnated from my previous life. Additionally, this is your second reincarnation, and you are from a future in which you got saddled with the five destitute heirs of the founding families."
"Yup," Marie chirped.
"And you are from a future where I became the king, and you married me."
"Yes, Leon," Angelica said.
"And in both of your futures, I became Angelica's representative for the honor duel after Marie seduced the five heirs."
"If it helps, my future differed in that you had a harem," Marie unhelpfully added.
"... Angelica, if you wanted to seduce me, you didn't need to go through whatever this is."
"But I'm telling the truth... Wait... You're seduced?"
"Break the engagement before you get any ideas," I sighed.
"Uncle, why are Mother and Angie feuding over you?"
"Don't tell me you are in on this future reincarnation bit Angelica is on about."
"You don't believe Mother... Marie was telling the truth?"
"Why won't you believe me, Big Bro!"
"You haven't told me anything to convince me. You just said you were and left it there."
"You're Japanese! I was a bratty sister blackmailing you to play the game while I went on vacation, and you died because of me! I'm so sorry, Bro!" Marie said while sobbing into my chest.
"Ohh... All is forgiven?"
"So, in the future, we eloped together after I spontaneously proposed to you during the school festival?"
"Yes. You even said the same words this time around, My Love."
"He's mine, you old crow!"
"Marie... who was in my harem in your life?"
"Well. There was Olivia, Angelica, Clarice, Deirdre, Merce, Carla, Yumeria, the Fanoss sisters, Noelle, Louise..."
I didn't hear the rest. My mind blanked out at the incoming shitstorm. Also, what kind of manwhore was I if my half-sister was on the list?
I poked my head out of my tea room when I heard a disturbance. Looking down the corridor, I saw the girls who had just left my room. They were picking on another girl on the floor. It was simply disgusting behavior. These girls were monsters wearing human flesh.
After the bullies left the girl, I got a better look. That was the protagonist. She displayed the most pathetic attempt at fake crying. She was literally saying the words sob.
"Wife?"
"Eh? Is it you, Leon?"
"It's complicated."
AN:
1) Just to clarify, I only consider something toxic if you deliberately insult someone. Criticizing my work is perfectly fine. You could even just call my work trash and leave it at that and I still wouldn't consider it toxicity.
2) I agree that corrupting Olivia would be more villainous. Just needed someone of significance to muster a significant insurgent force and I can't imagine disgraced heirs would be able to get the job done.
3) I see how the previous chapter seems a bit unbelievable given how I originally wrote the Villainous Villainess snippet. It's part of the reason I am hesitant to go full into that particular story since writing a meticulous character (and multiple of them) with believable oversights is hard. I have a few ideas to explain not bugging Olivia, but that's one thing over however many scenarios I can think of.
4) Not going to lie, having Olivia go dark because she believes Leon died is an incredibly good idea I didn't think of. Feels so obvious now.
5) Yeah, evil Angelica is one of those things you are either really into or not. Glad you like my writing enough to continue reading despite not liking the character.
6) After all the ranting I had and writing back-to-back Villainous Villainess, I needed to write a little crackfic to relax. Funnily enough, this was something I thought up a while ago but forgot about when I started writing Villainous Villainess.
7) I'm going on vacation soon. I'll try to crack out another chapter for one of my main fics before next week.
