Rocky Road

One particular day, Sunset Shimmer decided to go out for a walk. "Ah, another day in Equestria," she said to herself, "So where to today? Ah, yes, the nearby mountains."

Sunset Shimmer looked at the nearby mountain range close to Canterlot. "That's where I'll be heading for today," Sunset Shimmer thought.

So she began to walk there. Within minutes, Sunset Shimmer reached the base of a big rocky mountain. "Ok," said Sunset Shimmer, "Time to go hiking!"

"Hold on a minute, ma'am," a voice called. Sunset Shimmer turned to face a unicorn pony, dressed up like a hiker. "Don't you go climbing up these mountains without protection," the pony said, "It's too dangerous and." "You'll hurt yourself/myself," Sunset Shimmer finished, "Yes, I know. I'd just forgot."

"Then let me get you set up for mountain climbing," said the pony. So she placed hiking boots on Sunset Shimmer's hooves, fitter her with a tough hat, and equipped her with ropes, pick axes, and other important things.

"Thank you," said Sunset Shimmer. "By the way," the unicorn pony said, "My name is Odyssey." "Oh, hello, Odyssey," said Sunset Shimmer, "I was going to climb these mountains."

"Well," said the unicorn pony, named Odyssey, "Glad that I stopped you before you go without getting equipped for the long journey." "Thanks," said Sunset Shimmer.

"Now shall we go together?" asked Odyssey. "Yes," replied Sunset Shimmer. And the two unicorn ponies set off together.

After 30 minutes of walking up the steep trail, they were halfway up one of the mountains. "This is kind of fun" said Sunset Shimmer. "Maybe," said Odyssey, "But if you're not careful at all, things will go wrong, becoming the opposite of fun."

"All right," said Sunset Shimmer in response.

After a few minutes of walking further, the two unicorn ponies we're at a point where they could actually see a faraway city in the distance. "Wow," said Sunset Shimmer, admiring the view. "I agree that is an amazing sight," said Odyssey. But then she saw an unpleasant sight: she saw the ground beneath Sunset Shimmer's feet began to break apart.

Sunset Shimmer noticed this, too. "Oh no," thought Odyssey, "Sunset Shimmer, get out of there!" Sunset Shimmer responded with a will and jumped clear of the collapsing pathway.

"That was close!" Sunset Shimmer said, looking back at part of the rocky pathway that is no longer there, where she had stood on. "No kidding!" said Odyssey, "Glad that I'm here."

"I know," said Sunset Shimmer. "Well, we're not turning back now," said Odyssey, "So we have to go forward." "Right," agreed Sunset Shimmer.

So the two ponies continued forward. However, they came to a pathway that is completely blocked with rocks. "This isn't good," said Odyssey, "I never saw this the last time I came through here." "Well," said Sunset Shimmer, "Do you?"

"If you're thinking about climbing over it," Odyssey said, "No way! It's too dangerous!" "You're right," agreed Sunset Shimmer, "So let's try something else."

"All right," said Odysee, "But the sun is starting to do go down. Oh, the work of Princess Celestia." "Yeah," agreed Sunset Shimmer. And thus, the name 'Princess Celestia' stuck in Sunset Shimmer's mind. She followed Odyssey further up the mountains.

Eventually it started to get really dark. "So where are we going now?" asked Sunset Shimmer.

"To a place to settle in for the night," answered Odysee, "I've made it in case of emergencies like this." "Oh," replied Sunset Shimmer. The two ponies made it to the tent place that Odyssey had mentioned.

"We'll settle here for the night," Odyssey explained, "We'll continue further on tomorrow. Don't worry, I brought us something to eat. Always come prepared." "Right," agreed Sunset Shimmer.

Soon enough, after dinner, both Odyssey and Sunset Shimmer fell asleep in sleeping bags. Before she fell fast asleep, Sunset Shimmer had been thinking about Odyssey, the pony who had helped het get this far up the mountains.

"I wonder," she'd thought. But she thought about Princess Celestia, even though she had never met her before, more. "I wonder if she could help me further in my life," thought Sunset Shimmer. Then she fell fast asleep.
