Account 1-6 Case # 6392
Subject: Veronica Ruby Haig
Location: Hurricane, Utah, USA
1835 hours, June 29th, 1985
Veronica sat slouched over on the couch in the living room, arms folded into her chest and face contorted into a scowl. The 5-year-old son of her host parents, Carlton, was taking a nap next to her as the light of the TV blanketed the room. The relative silence was soon interrupted by the sound of her host mom.
"Carlton! Veronica! Time for dinner! We're having Tacos tonight!"
Carlton immediately roused from his nap and excitedly ran towards the dining room, meanwhile she just sat there, ignoring the repeated calls from her host mom.
"Veronica! Oh, for God's sake."
She listened in as her host parents began to discuss her unresponsiveness.
"Clay, this is the third time she's done this."
"Look, she's been told she can't do something she was she really wanted to do, you know how teenagers get when you tell them they can't do something."
"I understand that, but I also can't have her starving to death just because she's upset."
"I know, I'll go in there and see if I can get through to her."
"Alright, good luck honey."
"Thanks, boop." Clay responded before she heard the two of them kiss.
She saw his silhouette slowly enter the room, before looking back towards the TV in a vain attempt to get him to leave.
"Veronica, I know you're upset that Mike said he doesn't want anyone coming to see him for a few days."
"You don't know shit." she replied.
"Language!" he shouted.
"Oh, and what are you gonna do about it! You aren't the one who decided to spend loads of money just to come over to the middle of nowhere Utah, in the hopes that their old friend was there! I had nothing after Mikey left! Everybody left me because I was the poor Scottish tomboy who did all the things she wasn't supposed to and was going to fail in life because she can't get her act together!"
He watched as she began to tear up.
"Then I found him again! I found him and now I can't even see him! Because he doesn't want anyone to be around him! What happened to the Mikey I knew back in Hull; I miss him so much!"
She put her face in her hands and began to cry. He sat down next to her and put his hand on her shoulder.
"Veronica, Mike went through a lot that night. Something like that takes time to recover from. It's not that he doesn't care about you. If anything, he seemed quite concerned about you. When I saw him in the hospital, one of the first things he asked is if you were ok."
She raised her head to look at him, tear marks streaming down her face.
"Why doesn't he at least talk to me though."
He gave a soft sigh as he realized she wasn't thinking properly right now.
"Ok, maybe you just need to stop thinking about this for the time being. I have something that could help with that."
He let her wipe off her eyes before continuing.
"Throughout the next week, were going to be preparing for a potential reopening later this summer. If you agree to help us with that, I'll pay you minimum wage."
She looked off to the side and thought it over. She was still angry at Mike for not talking to her. But it's not like she had anything else to do that week, and she was going to get paid for this. She looked back at Clay.
"Alright, you got a deal."
He smiled and pat her on the back.
"That's the spirit, anyways we should go and get some food, you're gonna need to get some calories in ya before we head into work tomorrow." He said chuckling.
She rolled his eyes before getting up and walking into the dining room.
Clay remained seated and stared at the TV. With the incident at Freddy's and William Afton's sudden "departure" everything had gone so far off course. If he ever hoped to salvage the situation, he needed to control the situation, otherwise a lot of people would be in trouble.
"Clay! Don't tell me you're going to starve yourself too!" He heard his wife yell.
"Oh, sorry boop!" He shouted back.
He got up and walked towards the dining room.
