In a room filled with people, lights and tables, food of all kinds, red carpets and flags with dragons, there stood a boy, clad in dark robes, with small hints of orange, surrounded by all kinds of people, all speaking to him, some were children, holding no malice in their words, and merely having fun. Others were adults trying to get on the good side of the boy with all kinds of tricks, and lastly, the adults who were wary of the boy, analyzing him thoroughly.
They wondered about his personality, his intelligence and his skill, for this boy was loved by many, regarding him as a hero, others instead knew him as a truly terrifying being, only surpassed by the witch of envy, for his flames consumed all, as he seemed to command war itself.
"Subaru, is it true you stopped a dragon's attack with just one hand?" Fourier asked with awe and worry, Subaru scratched the back of his head, and nodded.
"Tru~ly fascinating, for a boy to go toe to toe with a mighty dragon." A man with makeup all over his face spoke, his accent instantly noticed the moment he opened his mouth, Subaru turned around, and saw a familiar red haired maid, and a man with strange eyes.
"Hey, Seshi was the one to fight that lizard, not me." Subaru answered with a smile, he analyzed the clown from head to toe, his entire being gave off a strange aura, he was undoubtedly powerful, and had an interest towards Subaru.
"Regardless, I'm Natsuki Subaru, pleased to meet you, sir." The boy extended his hand, already guessing who this man was.
"I am the co~urt magician, Roswaal L. Mathers. It is a pleasure, child of war." Roswaal presented himself, and the boy immediately took a coin from his pocket.
"A magician? I can do magic tricks too!" showed it to the clown, turned around a bunch, his mantle going over those around him, and made it disappear. The children were surprised by this display, while Roswaal was amused rather than surprised.
"How did you do that!?" Crusch asked, a bit surprised Subaru smirked as Fourier looked at him for a few seconds.
"You slipped the coin between your fingers, didn't you?" Subaru was quite surprised by his remark, as he showed the coin hidden behind his hand.
"Nice job, anyway, here's your knife Crusch." Subaru took a knife from his mantle, with the symbol of a lion on it, everyone was even more surprised.
"Uh? Uh!" Crusch checked for her knife and did not find it, she then took it in her hands, and her gaze went between Subaru and her knife.
"Ah! You used your mantle! When you put it over our eyes!" Fourier once again guessed correctly, surprising Subaru.
"Anyway, why does the knife have the crest of a lion?" Subaru asked curiously, Crusch held the knife in her hand, with a warm smile she replied.
"It was once the crest of the Lugunica, before the last lion King made the pact with the dragon."
"Lion King?" Subaru asked while scratching his chin.
"Yes, a king who always made the right decisions, but since the pact was made, no other lion King appeared." Subaru looked at Fourier for a few seconds, staring at him as if he even gazed into his soul.
"I see…" Subaru scratched his chin with a smile, leaving everyone perplexed, then he turned towards Roswaal.
"Re~gardless, I would like to invite you in my mansion, many tales surround you, among them many regarding strange sp~ells, never heard before." Roswaal smiled as Subaru had a hint of suspicion in his eyes.
"We haven't come here without reason, once we deal with our business we could pass by for some tea." Otto cut in with a smile, the boy looked at Roswaal with innocent eyes, yet Subaru noticed his distrust.
"Indeed, the plague that struck Glarasia has to be dealt with as soon as possible." Roswaal explained with a smile, leaving everyone around surprised, Subaru gazed at him with a smile, yet this time it was far more malicious.
"Curious how you know about it, since that information shouldn't have left the city." Subaru asked with a smile, Roswaal then was surprised as he looked at Otto.
"Well, for us no~bles information is quick to come, especially for such big events." Roswaal explained as Subaru's eyes narrowed even more.
"No, I ordered to not let the information spread, no one is allowed to leave that city, and one of my orders is not so easily ignored, even then, we traveled to Lugunica as quickly as possible while that info shouldn't have left the country." Subaru answered with angered eyes, Roswaal was taken aback, yet he immediately regained his smile.
"I ha~ve a few friends in Glarasia, they asked me to help." Roswaal explained with a serious expression, Subaru sighed and didn't press the conversation further.
"So, you wish for our help for a plague?" Fourier asked, the others listened closely, Subaru nodded with a sad smile.
"Indeed, I managed to contain it, but no one figured out how to heal it effectively." Felix looked at him for a second, and then Crusch pushed him lightly.
"I could help, as long as I get authorized." Felix spoke up as he turned towards Fourier, who went to the king and spoke with him, the two discussed for a while, even Miklotov came close and listened, he nodded and the three got close.
"Child of war, we are truly grateful for your help, defeating a sin archbishop while defending the population is no small feat, for that we shall grant your wish, Felix shall go to the city and aid them." Miklotov spoke with a small smile, Subaru was already happy.
"Yet, while we do trust you, we cannot say the same for many of the people in your country, and have one of our best healers go into a dangerous place without any insurance isn't something we can accept so easily." Miklotov finished explaining, Subaru nodded and smiled, then pointed at himself with his thumb.
"Then I'll stay here while Halibel and Cecilus work as his bodyguards." Subaru smiled as the group was slightly surprised.
"How could we ask for you to remain? The assistance of your bodyguards shall be more than enough!" The king spoke surprised, while Subaru smiled.
"Then I'll just have you guys train us in the meantime." Subaru smirked while looking at Reinhard, who sighed with a smile.
"Well, I suppose it wouldn't hurt, Heinkel, I assign you and to the house Astrea the protection of the child of war and of his allies." The king spoke up with a smile, Subaru nodded and went on with his group.
The night went on, the dinner to celebrate the defeat of the witch cult was held at the castle, the morning after Felix had been sent to Vollachia, with Cecilus at his side, and Reinhard accompanied them to the borders, where other bodyguards were waiting for him.
In the meantime Subaru and his company were in the Astrea mansion, one within the capital, they already entered inside and relaxed.
"It is truly a joy to have the esteemed child of war in our mansion, may your permanence be as comfortable as possible." An old lady greeted them with a smile, next to her was a silent man with a noticeable scar on his throat.
"Please call me Subaru miss!" Subaru greeted them with a smile, the old lady giggled as she offered them some tea, the group was in a living room filled with sofas and small coffee tables.
"So what's your name?" Subaru asked as he started drinking his tea, Otto was looking around nervous, while the others were calm.
"I am Carol Remendis, I serve the Astrea household, and he is Grimm Fauzen, my husband, he cannot speak well." The two presented themselves, immediately Gustav and Grimm sat next to each other, their aura one of authority, and somehow seemed to be friendly immediately.
"Wow, that was unexpected, for my husband to find a friend so easily." Carol placed a hand on her cheek, she smiled warmly as the group continued chanting among themselves.
During the day they met a magician named Ezzo, the various maids and butlers, and all of them relaxed for the first day, the morning passed and in the first hours of afternoon Gustav, Weilz, Idra and Hiain began their training, Gustav learned from Grimm how to properly use his shield, Weilz and Hiain were training with Carol, who was an exceptional swordmaster, and Idra was with Ezzo to learn how to use magic, and Subaru was walking around the mansion, he decided to visit the capital by himself, so he set out with a smile.
He exited the mansion while informing a maid, he quickly made his way between the noble district and ran as fast as the wind, yet he heard a voice calling for him.
"Natsuki! Wait!" He turned around and saw Otto gasping for air, his hands were on his knees as Subaru quickly returned back next to him.
"How, ah, are you so fast?" He asked as Subaru shrugged with a smile, he then summoned the yang sword.
"This powers me up a lot, I guess that's the difference." Subaru smiled as the two began walking around the streets, they made their way to the merchant district, where they checked for various stuff, from some typical products to perfumes, until they reached the smiths.
"Mhm, there are a lot of swords." Subaru commented while looking around in a shop, the two had completely no idea of what they were doing, but their male instincts drove them to the swords.
"Hey kids, you shouldn't be in he-" The smith came out from his shop and looked at the two, once he noticed Subaru he stopped midway the sentence.
"Black hair, evil eyes, you're… the child of war!" The smith was quite scared upon seeing him, Subaru narrowed his eyes and pointed at them.
"Hey! I was born with these eyes!" Subaru shouted in anger, as the commotion continued, an old man with gray hair and blue eyes came out from the shop, and met eyes with Subaru.
"Child of war, uh? I see why you have such a terrible name." The old man spoke with piercing eyes, Subaru looked at him from head to toe, the feature most prominent in him was his blue eyes, which were quite familiar.
But other than that, his sword was also prominent, he had his arm relaxing on the sword, yet Subaru could tell at a glance that he was strong, probably stronger than many opponents he faced.
"And who you may be?" Subaru asked with a smile, yet he was wary, since this old man noticed immediately Subaru's experience.
"Wilhelm Trias, just a wandering old man." Wilhelm bowed slightly as Subaru smiled. Otto looked at him with a concerned gaze.
"So, were you admiring the beauty of these swords?" Wilhelm looked at the various swords on display, Subaru shaked his head with a smile.
"I don't know a lot about swords, I already have a really good one." Subaru smiled as Wilhelm was slightly shaken.
"You could have said anything else, you know?" Otto shouted at Subaru, angered by his frank words at the swordsman.
"Who are you, young man?" Wilhelm asked with a calm voice, Otto stirred up with a worried expression.
"Otto Sewen, sir! Pleased to meet you." Otto regained a bit of courage and spoke with Wilhelm.
"Anyway, do you want to go for a tea?" Subaru asked as he pointed away, Wilhelm nodded and the three got out of the shop.
"So, what could a young one such as yourself ask of this old man?" Wilhelm asked as the three walked around the city, searching for somewhere to stay.
"This old man has many stories to tell, and this kid wishes to hear them." Subaru smiled while the three walked around the district.
The three sat down in a small inn in the merchant district. They sat outside and took some drinks, Subaru noticed how Wilhelm was looking at some yellow flowers, he smiled and asked.
"Do you like flowers?" Subaru asked as he leaned his head on his fist, Wilhelm looked at him slightly surprised, he gave a small smile and turned towards him.
"They remind me of my wife, she used to look at flowers and take care of them." Wilhelm explained as in his face he showed his deep love for her.
"You love her a lot, don't you?" Subaru asked as he drank some tea, Wilhelm raised his head lost in thought.
"I loved her, more than anything else, no matter how much time passes." Wilhelm answered with melanchony in his voice, Subaru noticed it immediately.
"I am sorry, hearing me speak of love must bore you out." Wilhelm excused himself as he drank his tea, Subaru shaked his head.
"On the contrary, hearing you speak of love with such passion is beautiful." Subaru answered with a smile, at which Wilhelm remained silent.
"If you do not mind, could you tell us more about it." Subaru asked with a smile, the two looked at Wilhelm with anticipation, he nodded and spoke.
"There is a lot to say, it would be best to start from the beginning, the day I met her was a long time ago, during the demi human war, I was training in an isolated place in the outskirts of the city, and there she was admiring flowers."
"Did you fall in love at first sight?" Subaru asked with a smile as he listened carefully, the old man shaked his head.
"Sadly I was far too focused on the sword, I gave everything to it, and I did not notice how drawn to her I was, only believing that swinging the sword was far enough to survive, it was my wife that reminded me why I swung the sword."
Wilhelm held his eyes closed, filled with the love and memories of the past, Subaru noticed again melancholy in his words.
"Is that when you realized you loved her?" Subaru leaned towards Wilhelm, listening carefully to the old man.
"It seems you have seen through me, indeed, that was when I realized how much I loved her, but now, if possible, I would like to know why the famous child of war swings his sword." Wilhelm opened his eyes and looked at Subaru, surprised at his question, he looked down and remained in thought for long.
"I don't want to lose anyone else, make sure I am not a burden when we fight, and for me to be able to protect myself." Subaru spoke with sincerity, Wilhelm listened closely with a smile, he nodded.
"And what about you, young man?" Wilhelm turned towards Otto, surprising him as he drank his tea.
"Oh, he's just Otto, nothing to say." Subaru gave Wilhelm a thumbs up, as Otto jumped from his seat.
"Make me say a word at least!" He shouted at Subaru, who was laughing at him, the two slowly calmed down and Otto turned towards Wilhelm.
"Anyway, I do not hold a sword, yet I've seen Subaru fight, and I must say I was impressed, I'll follow him for now, and I might as well understand what I want to do." Otto explained with a smile, Subaru scratched his cheek slightly.
"Guess we've finished for now, shall we go?" Subaru said as the three finished their tea, they got up and paid, leaving the small inn, and went for a walk around the city.
The three walked around the merchant district, looking around for stuff to buy and chatting about various things, Wilhelm mostly talked about swords or his wife, the two kids listened with admiration, as the three walked around, they suddenly heard a voice screaming, repeating "thief! Thief!" Immediately they rushed there and the first to arrive was Wilhelm, standing in front of a small child with golden hair and red eyes, as a noblewoman shouted again and again.
"I suppose that is not yours." He said with a calm yet storn tone to the child, helding a purse in her hand, who was absolutely scared of the old man, giving off an aura of power not unnoticed by Subaru.
"Don't worry, we're not going to do anything, just give it back and we'll take care of the rest." Subaru too got close and kneeled next to her, with tears in her eyes she gave back the purse, which Otto handed back immediately.
"Alright, want to get something to eat?" Subaru asked with a smile as he petted the small girl's hair, she hadn't spoken a word, yet she was clearly hungry.
"Wasting time on a slum rat, she should rot in a cell!" The noble woman spoke as she looked at the girl, a few guards got closer too, but stopped upon seeing Wilhelm and Subaru.
"We shall take care of her!" A guard spoke as he took the small girl's hand, he tried to take her away, and even he seemed to not treat her well, pulling her with all of his force, yet before he could.
"Silence!" A voice holding immense authority spoke, with pure fury accompanying it, as Subaru glared at the noble and the guards.
"For a child to be forced to steal, how shameful." Subaru spoke as everyone was frozen at his commanding voice, the guard took a few steps back, as the guards eyes wavered.
"Black evil eyes, and dark hair, the child of war!" He uttered as many had a reaction of fear or joy, the noblewoman was terrified, the guard immediately kneeled, and many citizens came to look.
"From this moment forward, this girl is under my protection, if anyone wishes anything from her, they may talk with me." He spoke with a commanding voice, the girl was confused and scared, Wilhelm looked at Subaru with a small hint of surprise, as everyone else stepped back.
"Hey Subaru, aren't you exaggerating a little?" Otto asked with a smile on his face, Subaru laughed and waved his head.
"Hell no, this is the bare minimum." Subaru extended his hand to the girl, who took it hesitantly, then they walked away as everyone else stood in silence.
"Thanks, big bro." The girl spoke with a small smile, the three headed for a restaurant and gave her something to eat.
"So, what's your name?" Otto asked as the four sat in a restaurant, the people working there didn't like having the girl inside, yet a glare from the three was enough to have them not complain.
"Felt! Thanks for the meal!" She said as the food on her plate disappeared, she ate greedily showing her hunger.
"Felt, do you have any parents?" Otto asked as Subaru slapped him on the back of his head.
"Don't phrase it like that! You idiot!" Subaru shouted with anger as Otto massaged his head.
"How am I supposed to say it?!" Otto turned around and shouted too, the two pulled each other's clothes and continued arguing.
Felt burst out laughing, looking at the two shouting at each other, the two turned around and smiled, as they settled down Felt looked at the two with a small smile.
"Old man Rom has taken care of me since I remember, he is in the slums." Felt spoke as Subaru cleaned her mouth, the group went towards the slums, Subaru had been stopped a few times from people thanking him for the sin archbishop, and they made their way to a loothouse.
Felt went next to the door, knocked and waited, after a few sounds a voice was heard.
"For a whale?" A man spoke, at the word whale Wilhelm flinched and Subaru noticed a glint in his eyes, one he knew far too well.
"Old man Rom, It's me!" Felt shouted as the door was opened, and an old giant came to greet Felt with a smile on his face, he patted her head as he looked at those next to her, his smile dimmed the moment he and Wilhelm met eyes.
The two knew each other, and they weren't exactly friends, that much was obvious to anyone looking at them, especially thanks to the immense amount of bloodlust emanating from the two, it seemed like the two would fight immediately, wasn't for a third bloodlust far greater than those two.
"If you wanna fight, I'm always for it." A chilling yet childish voice called out to the two, the bloodlust immense, as the words carried death, it did not give the sense of power, but rather of certainty, as the two men were met with the absolute certainty of their doom.
"Whaa!" A cry was heard from the small girl, making the three fighters stop immediately and decreasing their oppressive presence immediately, the old giant picked up the girl and consoled her.
"Don't worry, Felt, we aren't going to do anything." The old giant patted her back, calming her down, Subaru too played with her a bit.
"Alright, now that we settled down, we've brought Felt home. I'd like to discuss a certain issue with you." Subaru said as the group entered inside, the old giant raised an eyebrow curious of what Subaru had to say.
The group was inside and the old giant presented himself as Rom, after giving Felt something to drink they sat down in the bar, with Wilhelm being between Subaru and Otto, and Rom on the other side.
"I was wondering if you could have helped me open an orphanage in the slums, a place where children could safely stay and have a good meal." Subaru spoke with a serious tone, Rom was quite surprised at his words, Wilhelm too raised an eyebrow.
"The child of war taking care of the children of another country, an enemy one at that, why?" Rom asked with a raised eyebrow, Subaru shrugged with a smile.
"It's the right thing, seeing children live in poverty, risking death each day simply because they were born, it sickens me." Subaru explained with anger in his voice, Otto sighed as he put a hand over his head, Wilhelm had a small smile over his face.
"I've expected you to do such a thing, but are you sure you can pull it off here? You've got a lot of problems in Vollachia already." Otto spoke with a smile, Subaru smirked as he pointed at Rom.
"That's why I need your help, you're going to make it, I'll just give you a hand." Subaru shouted as Rom remained silent, slightly smiling.
"Why should I accept? It's not like I owe you anything." Rom asked in a doubtful voice, Subaru pointed at Felt.
"I can guarantee that she will live a happy and long life, under my protection, no sane man shall dare to harm her." Subaru spoke with pure confidence in his voice, the feeling he gave off was the same the sword saint could give, born not from his power, but from his confidence. Believing with his whole being that his words were true, and if those were not, then he'd make them real.
"I guess this is one of those opportunities that don't come easily, were you an adult, I'd decline instantly, but you're not too bad." Rom nodded and the two shaked hands, Felt came closer and asked for some milk.
"Alright, prepare your stuff, we've got to do a lot, first of all, have you two take a bath and a good sleep." Subaru pointed outside and Felt kicked him, but Subaru stopped it in time.
"You said I stink!" Felt shouted angrily, Subaru chuckled and let go of her leg, she tried to hit him but her hands were too short to reach him as he held her head.
"Nice kick!" Subaru said as the two continued walking forward, they made their way to the Astrea mansion, some nobles noticed Rom and Felt and looked at them with disgust, yet a glare from Subaru and Wilhelm was more than enough to shut them up.
"So where are we heading?" Rom asked as he looked around the noble district, resentment clear in his eyes.
"The Astrea mansion, I'll stay there for a while." Subaru answered as he turned towards the group, he noticed immediately how Wilhelm flinched at the word Astrea.
"I do believe I have some business to attend to, pardon me." Wilhelm turned around and tried to go away, but Otto took his wrist stopping him.
"Natsuki wants you to come, and he'll have you there, whether you want it or not." Otto said in a deadpan, making Wilhelm understand that he was quite forced, even Otto was annoyed.
The group made his way to the mansion, and at the gates they were welcomed by some maids, who gasped upon seeing Wilhelm, Subaru asked them to take care of Rom and Felt, Wilhelm seemed more hesitant each step he took inside, his eyes were taken by various paintings of Reinhard's grandmother.
"What are you doing here?" Suddenly an old voice was heard, it was Carol looking at Wilhelm, the two stared for a while, the tension clear between the two, with Carol there were Weilz and Hiain, who smiled once seeing Subaru.
"Brother! How did your trip go?" Hiain asked as he gave Subaru a high five, the three cut the tension in the room, Weilz noticed Wilhelm and squeezed his eyes.
"I found a few people, and I saw how shitty the slums are. How about you?" Subaru smiled as he gave a fist bump to Weilz.
"I got my ass kicked by the lady over there, she surely knows how to use that sword." Hiain smiled as Subaru noticed the various bandages on his body, Weilz too was covered in bandages.
"Alright, where are the others?" Subaru asked as he looked around, the group walked towards the garden, where they saw Grimm and Gustav fighting with their shields, rather, Grimm was training Gustav with all he had, master and student united in a dance with shields.
"We'd better not stop them, so the one remaining is Idra." Subaru spoke as he turned towards Carol, who sighed and brought them to a library. Inside Ezzo and Idra were studying a book about magic, they were so concentrated on studying that they didn't notice the group peeking from the door.
"Well, we have some free time, I guess I could start training, who wants to help me?" Subaru turned towards his group, Wilhelm took a step forward.
"I would gladly cross swords with the child of war." Wilhelm spoke with a small hint of excitement in his voice, so they headed to the garden, they took their swords.
"You use quite a special sword, that red steel is giving off quite the heat." Wilhelm commented as he analyzed the yang sword.
"I told ya my sword was strong." Subaru answered with a cheeky smile, Subaru took a fighting stance, Wilhelm had an arm behind his back, the sword in the front.
The two clashed blades with a loud sound, Wilhelm deflected the red blade and shoved it sideways, leaving Subaru open, Wilhelm tried to attack, but Subaru took a step backwards, dodging the first hit, immediately Subaru was on the defensive, blocking hits from all sides, thanks to his size Wilhelm was forced to not use upward strikes, which would have easily been blocked by Subaru, Wilhelm then passed from slashes to piercing strikes, which managed to make a few cuts on Subaru.
"You put too much weight in your hands, your feet are unstable, and you use too little of your chest!" Wilhelm explained as he used a much more powerful slash, which sent Subaru flying, making him crash on a tree.
"Hey, I'm still a kid! Can't you go a little easier on me?" Subaru shouted as he stood up, Wilhelm had a small grin on his face.
"You are planning a thousand ways to kill me, and I should go easy on you?" Wilhelm spoke with a more serious voice, Subaru grinned.
"I've been seen through, uh?" Subaru murmured as he ran forward, sticking Wilhelm with much more strength, the two exchanged slashes for a while, until Wilhelm jumped backwards.
"You almost got me there." Wilhelm looked at his sword, the tip had been melted, but it was still usable.
"How did you notice?" Subaru put his sword over his shoulder.
"By the end your strikes were much less powerful, and your eyes were too focused on my sword." Wilhelm explained as he took a fighting stance once again.
"Alright, you're not going to die if I go all out, right?" Subaru asked with a wicked smile on his face, Wilhelm exchanged a smile too.
"Don't under-estimate me, boy." Wilhelm answered as he changed his stance, Subaru then was covered in flames, his wings extended as the child of war glared at his opponent. All the same, the sword demon now had a completely different expression, waiting for the opponent.
With a loud explosion, their clashes began, with the child of war propelling forward with his wings, clashing midair with the sword demon, who with a wide swing seemed to sweep away the flames, and their blades met, Subaru was repelled backwards, as Wilhelm quickly came closer to cut him, but then Subaru jumped while in midair, surprising the old swordsman, who was assailed with various cuts from above, he blocked the hits, even if the bothersome angle was giving him a disadvantage, he then tried to attack, but Subaru quickly dodged by blasting himself away.
"You've got quite a few tricks up your sleeves, uh?" Wilhelm commented as Subaru slowly came back to the ground.
"And you are quite agile for being an old man." Subaru spoke , the two smiled again, and another clash began.
As the two neared Subaru made his sword disappear, and he was completely enveloped by fire, as only the shape of his body could be seen in the fire, once they got in striking distance, Wilhelm aimed for the head, but the sword passed through the fire without cutting anything, instead the yang sword came from the right wing, almost cutting Wilhelm's head, but he raised his sword in a flash, and blocked the hit, this time Wilhelm kicked Subaru away, sending him flying.
As the two fought, time passed, and the sun was now setting, Subaru looked at the sunset, and sighed.
"Guess the party's over, the sun is setting." He spoke aloud as Wilhelm looked at him confused, those on the sides of the garden too were slightly disappointed.
"Oh, when the sun goes down my sword can't be used." Subaru explained as Wilhelm stared at him quite confused.
"That seems quite a big problem." Carol spoke aloud, Subaru looked at her and sighed.
"I know, and I really need to do something about it, otherwise I'm done whenever the sun sets." Subaru sighed as Wilhelm seated his blade.
"Yet, your strength does not come from the sword, it comes from your mind, the tricks and techniques you use are troublesome to fight against." Wilhelm walked towards Subaru and explained, Carol smiled and looked at Subaru.
"I must admit that only Wilhelm could spar with you without risking his life, if I were to be in his place I might have risked my life a few times." Carol shrugged and came to check on Subaru.
"Still, to be liked by the sword demon, it might be as bad as being liked by the witch." Carol spoke with a bit of anger in her voice, clearly directed towards Wilhelm.
"Sword demon? So you're Reinhard's grandfather!" Otto shouted as he had a shocked expression, Subaru turned towards Wilhelm and smiled.
"No wonder you're so strong! And sword demon is a cool name!" Subaru shouted with joy and admiration in his voice, an excited child admiring the old swordsman.
"Brother, weren't you fighting him a second ago, you weren't exactly losing." Idra spoke with Ezzo at his side, Subaru noticed Gustav too.
"Wilhelm held back, even if those two seemed to fight as equal, it was merely because Subaru was training." Gustav explained as he looked at Wilhelm.
"Yep, grandpa Wil is really strong, and even more experienced, I hope he will train me for a while longer." Subaru smiled as he turned towards Wilhelm.
"I am glad to hear that, now, pick up the wooden sword, you need to grow strong without that blade." Wilhelm explained as his gaze became stern, Subaru did as he said and went back to fighting, this time they weren't fighting as intensely, focusing much more on Subaru's fighting capabilities and tactics.
