Chapter 8 : Broken Trust
That night, Sasuke went to the hospital, to check whether Sakura was truly having a night shift or not. He came to the hospital, only to find Ino's son, Inojin, walking around in the white doctor gown with a plastic clipboard in color blue around the wards.
"Ino's son!" He didn't remember his name but luckily for him, the blond boy turned his head. "Uncle Sasuke ... what are you doing here?" The boy asked the older man. "Is Sakura around?" The man asked the boy. "Hmm ... as far as i remember, she's not having her shift tonight," Inojin said while looking at the paper on his clipboard. "Well, today's senior doc on duty is Yuuji sensei though," Inojin said.
Sasuke could feel his heart beat even faster. Still not wanting to believe that Sakura was lying to him. Sasuke didn't say a thing, he froze.
"Is there anything wrong?" Inojin asked the Uchiha. "Nothing, thank you, Ino's son," Sasuke said to the blond boy. The next step was following his tracing ball, his hand was shaking, he wasn't ready to face the possible truth, the idea that perhaps his wife was cheating on him.
He wasn't ready to activate his chakra. He was so afraid that what people were saying was true, that Sakura, his perfect wife was cheating on him with some dark tall handsome foreigner who gave her big diamond on her finger.
So, Sasuke sat down there, alone in the middle of the night in the hospital waiting room. Contemplating of what could happen if she cheated on him, if she left him to go somewhere far away, to be embraced in the arm of another man, to smile and laugh and perhaps carry the baby of that man.
Sakura is his. She's always his all these times.
But, perhaps it isn't true. Perhaps she was somewhere else not with any man, just by herself because she was tired and overslept due to his noon shift.
So, he tried to make himself braver. He activated his chakra and disappeared to the location of the ball.
Inojin who was already arriving to the pediatric ward, far from where Sasuke was then. Then after he had finished writing the patient's reports, he realized something.
Oh shit!
Uncle Sasuke perhaps had known about the rumor of the affair and then he started to seek the truth and Aunt Sakura was perhaps being somewhere else with that Koukan General.
Hotel Room.
Sasuke was transferred to the location of the tracking ball. He was inside a cupboard of a hotel room. He gulped his saliva. Still in disbelief.
Is she really cheating on him? Or is she just too tired to come back home?
He was still in denial.
He went out of the cupboard, slowly without making any noise. The sound of shower from the bathroom piqued his interest. The door was slightly opened but when he heard a laughing voice from his wife, he immediately hid himself behind the door. From his hiding place, he could see his wife's pink hair from mirror of the bathroom through the small cleft he peeked on her.
"Hak, stop it, it's ticklish," it was the laughing voice of his wife. His heart felt like it just skipped a beat. And in a second he could see it from the mirror there was a man pulling his wife's body, his head was resting on her shoulder, both of them were naked and his big hand was on her breast and he proceeded to kiss her under the shower. "Hak, you feel great," She moaned.
Sasuke could feel a humongous amount of pain stabbing to his chest, his chest felt tight and it felt like there was no oxygen on the air. His hand clenched a fist and he wanted to kill this man named Hak so badly but he was just frozen there.
He had to process the pain. She really betrayed him. He couldn't believe that. It felt suffocating.
How could Sakura betray him? She was Sakura, his perfect obedient wife. The fact in front of him put him in a state of denial. But, it's a fact that Sakura betrayed him. Sasuke then grabbed the nearest surface, the touched a table and a paper that made rustling sound. When Sasuke gazed right at his hand, he saw the title of the paper "Divorce Agreement", it put him into even more shock to his chest.
"Wait," Suddenly Hak stopped kissing the pink haired woman. He put on a towel to cover his hips and walked out of the bathroom. When Sasuke realized that perhaps Hak sensed that he was there, He used his portal to go to the first place that came into his mind.
His house. Uchiha residence.
Sasuke fell on his bedroom, he was panting. It wasn't the chakra that's draining him, it was fact that his wife cheated on him.
He took off his cape and loosened the button of his shirt. He sat on the floor, leaning to the bed. For the first time after so many years, Sasuke fell into despair, tears slowly rolled out of his eyes.
He never expected, never in his life he expected that Sakura was going to betray him. Never in his life he would have to think the idea that Sakura might divorce him for another man. The fact that she cheated on him was bad but the possibility of her trying to divorce him was even worse.
He kept on wishing that it was Son Hak's letter, that somehow that man had a wife somewhere that he was willing to divorce.
Sasuke couldn't force himself to sleep. He kept on thinking and thinking and thinking what turned his wife to this person he didn't know? He was so sure of himself everything he had done, he had told Sakura first and she had agreed on the first hand. His memory somewhat traveled to the thing that happened eighteen years ago.
Eighteen years ago.
Sakura and Sasuke were already seeing each other for quite some time. It was a surprise for Sakura when Sasuke told her that he wanted to marry her, she immediately said yes. The next day, the Uchiha came into Sakura's house to meet her parents.
There they were, Kizashi Haruno and Mebuki Haruno. They were eating dinner together. The Haruno couple were glaring at the only Uchiha alive at that time. They knew the bad reputation of Uchiha, a clan of rebels who was slaughtered by the boy's brother. They were eating mackerel that was cooked by Sakura with a glass of green tea. Kizashi and Mebuki didn't smile, not even one bit of smile to the young man.
After they were done eating in that awfully quiet dinner, Kizashi was the one who spoke up. "Sasuke Uchiha, what do you want?" Kizashi asked, coldly. Sasuke and Sakura, who sat side to side held their hands together under the table. "Mister and missus Haruno, i would like to marry Sakura Haruno," Sasuke asked politely. Mebuki was jawdropped. She thought it was only Sakura showing her boyfriend to them. Kizashi felt as if his blood rushed to his head, his migraine came back to thim. With pain in his head, Kizashi stood up and glared at the Uchiha. "I cannot let my daughter to marry a man from a clan of rebels," Kizashi said. His words hurt Sasuke. Clan of rebels? He felt that it was degrading. Sakura was also angry, she almost spoke against her father. But, then, Sasuke held her hand even tighter, insinuating for the girl to just stay silent. "I love Sakura Haruno," Sasuke said, while staring deep into Kizashi's eyes. Kizashi slammed the table, it startled everyone there, including Mebuki. "Get out of my house! I can't let my daughter to marry anyone from a clan with bad reputation and someone with criminal background!" Kizashi yelled at him. Sasuke was angry deep inside but he stayed calm, he stood up, he said "thank you for the food" and slowly left the table and got out of the house. Sasuke could hear that Sakura was crying when he walked out of the house.
Sasuke felt heaviness in his heart during his walk home. "Fuck!" He yelled. He was a criminal and his clan had a bad reputation. But, should he really end it with Sakura just because her parents don't want them to be together? Sasuke was never a coward himself. He had to think how to make it work.
He was surprised when he arrived home, he saw Sakura inside his house, she was sitting on his sofa with her swollen red eyes due to crying. Sasuke sat down to sit beside his girlfriend, he hugged her from the side and kissed her forehead.
"Sasuke, didn't you tell me that we would travel outside the village after we got married?" Sakura grabbed Sasuke's hands, her eyes were gazing deep into his. "Yes ... but, is it okay for you to get married without your parents' permission?" Sasuke answered. "I don't care," Sakura pushed her boyfriend's body to the sofa, until he leaned on the sofa. She then sat on top of him, she kissed the man passionately. "Let's go," She said.
The next day, the couple met the sixth Hokage Kakashi Hatake. Sakura was asking a decoy mission about going outside Konoha for a long time to cover up her going outside the village to be with Sasuke. Kakashi sent the letter to Sakura's house, her parents sent her away with nothing in their mind. Kakashi kept on covering their trip with so many "missions".
Sakura and Sasuke went on a trip together and it was the happiest time of Sakura's life. When the arrived in the first village, it was a village with a small inn and the inn was full and luckily for them, there's one room for them with single bed.
Both of them were virgins at that time. It was a small Japanese style room with Tatami bed. Suddenly, she had an idea that perhaps could make her parents agree with their marriage. Pregnancy. A baby would change her parents, that's what she thought.
It didn't take long for Sakura to be pregnant, a lot faster than Sasuke's calculation. She was pregnant only in a month of having sex without protection. So, the couple continued their journey. It was the happiest time of their lives. Since Sakura was afraid that her parents might have asked her to abort her baby, she continued the journey while being pregnant. Until later, she gave birth to Sarada in Orochimaru's lair with the help of the red haired Uzumaki girl who fancied over Sasuke and got herself brokenhearted knowing that Sasuke chose Sakura. At that moment, Sakura felt like she had just won a championship. From all the girls who desired Sasuke, she was the only one who was chosen by him. She delivered Sarada with a very happy heart despite Sarada's delivery being extremely painful.
They came back to Konoha after Sarada was born. It was greeted with Naruto's bewildered look and "congratulations" from Kakashi. But, they weren't exactly greeted with open hands by Sakura's parents.
When they both arrived at the door of Sakura's house and having her mother opening the door, Mebuki fainted when she saw her daughter bringing a baby, with a man she despised standing beside her.
They were waiting at the living room, sitting on the sofa while helping Mebuki to be conscious again. It didn't take long for Sakura's father to come back to the house. He was surprised to see his sweet daughter had a baby in her arm, with the Uchiha beside her.
"Is ... is that ... your child with this man from the rotten clan?" Kizashi stuttered. He never expected his one and only daughter, sweet like Sakura, would do something like that. "Yes, she is our daughter," Sakura said while rubbing the child's head.
"You really are a crazy woman," Kizashi said. Those words made Sakura stood up from the sofa. "You will have to agree with our marriage, with a child, our bond is unbreakable," Sakura threatened Kizashi, her green eyes were glaring at his. "Tch, i will give you my blessing for your crazy marriage," Kizashi sounded very irritated. "But, you," He pointed Sasuke's face. "I will never ever like you," He said strongly to Sasuke. Sasuke diverted his gaze to Kizashi and stayed silent. He knew it would give them harder time if he defended himself.
The wedding was small, so unlike Hinata's and Naruto's wedding. Sakura's parents came to the wedding and gave their blessings with grumpy faces and tears from her father, not because he was a happy but because he thought he failed in raising his only daughter, and how he couldn't trust Sasuke yet he had to let him take care of his daughter since they already had a child together. Sakura and Sasuke felt relieved that they could formally got married without adding more bad reputation on the Uchiha name, since a couple who got married without their parents' permission was considered less than those who did in Konoha.
But, Sasuke's "torture" as a Haruno's in law had just started. Sakura's parents felt like Sasuke had just stole Sakura from them. One time, Mebuki talked so loud to Sakura when they were in the kitchen, for the purpose for Sasuke to hear it. "Do you not care about us? I want you to live with us! We're old now Sakura and we only have you! How could you let that rotten blood take you away from us?!" Mebuki asked her. "Mom, he is my husband," Sakura said. "You are a very dumb girl, could've married someone with better background but instead you got pregnant and got married to this criminal from rotten clan," Mebuki shouted to her daughter. "He's a good guy and i love him, can you please respect why decision?" Sakura replied to her mother with washing the plates. "Oh! I see! That just means you have a really bad taste in men! Let's just pray to God that your daughter won't end up like him!" She grumbled in a hysterical manner.
It wasn't the only time when Mebuki and Kizashi showed their dislike towards Sasuke. It always happened during their weekly dinner together. "I am wondering how Sarada's future will become with her father being a known criminal," Kizashi scoffed. That happened a lot of times, and they always wanted to poke into their lives, they always wanted to raise Sarada, to the point when Sasuke was completely fed up. He went to Naruto and asked him to give him a long mission and there Naruto gave him a very long mission, which he immediately took just so he didn't have to meet his nosey in-laws who kept on calling him "the useless husband" or "the embarrassment" or "that criminal" or "that shitty son in law". At least, he could use it as a way of redemption and the payment was great so he could send her and Sarada more money back home.
Sasuke loved Sakura. Even though he left her for many years, he loved her. He gave almost all of his money for her, it's the only way he could show his love for her. He couldn't go back to Konoha that often, he couldn't bear listening to Kizashi's and Mebuki's complaints and degrading comments and people leering over him being The Uchiha who was betraying the Village.
Sakura was so understanding and even though she was really sad when Sasuke went on a journey, she didn't complain. She told him that she completely understood. She just cried and cried. A lot of times, Sasuke felt guilty for leaving her but the idea of staying at Konoha screamed nightmare for him. So, he left, and loved her from a far.
He kept sending her money though he couldn't really tell her where he was. It was hard for Sasuke too but he had to show his in-laws that he had changed into this worthy good man, not this terrorist. That their daughter married a respectable man.
He had done everything he could to make her happy and to make her not to have to experience her parents calling her names because of him. It shattered his heart knowing that she cheated on him.
Uchiha Residence.
The memory was so vivid, he remembered every detail of the incident at that bathroom, the face of Sakura's mistress and the moaning sound of his wife while being touched by another man.
He could imagine how they'd be in bed. She would be on top of him, skin touching with his inside of hers, rocking her hips with his hands roaming on her butt or her tit. She would moan his name.
He felt so betrayed. He felt hurt. He never thought that Sakura could her him, especially not in that way.
It was four in the morning at Uchiha Residence. Sasuke didn't sleep, he was packing again. He wanted to go, the whole bedroom reminded him of her, and when it reminded him of her, he was reminded at how kind she was but at the end it always went back to the scene where Hak was touching his wife, pleasing her. He couldn't stop imagining her having sex with another man but him, she was having sex with Son Hak, enjoying him, perhaps sucking his genitalia, riding her hips on top of the man. The ideas made Sasuke very frustrated and nauseated. Not to forget the idea that she was going to divorce him.
So, he chose to pack his bag and wanted to leave the house before the sun set. He thought perhaps that would make him feel better before deciding what he would do to the man who stole his wife from him.
When he was in front of the door, with his luggage, he was startled by a voice.
"You've found out, haven't you? Are you sure that you want to leave again?" His daughter's voice. When he looked back, there she was, standing behind him with her pyjama.
"Does Papa really want to throw away this seventeen years of marriage?" Sarada scoffed, with tears welling at the back of her eyes.
"Sarada ...," Sasuke saw it. He knew his daughter was going to cry. It was bad enough for her that her mother was parading herself with her "cheating whore" attitude and then her father wanted to just give up?
"I just need some time to think without distraction," Sasuke replied her daughter.
"No! You will leave! You will leave and let Mama be with that Koukan bastard!" Sarada cried. "Sarada, i'm sorry," Sasuke moved closer and slowly put his hand on her daughter's shoulder. He slowly hugged her. "I promise you Mama will never be with that man anymore," He said to his daughter.
Author's Note :
Okay, the relationships here were certainly toxic. But, a lot of people started off their relationship that way and i'd like to point out that despite all the toxicity, Sasuke loves Sakura and Sakura loved Sasuke(very much).
And i believe some of you might have questioned why didn't Sasuke act immediately (as in attacking Hak when he was with Sakura). Well, the man was too shocked to even think. He was frozen, still wanting to deny whatever's going on with Sakura and Hak and perhaps he also wasn't ready if Sakura chose Hak in front of him. He still wished that it was only a fling and wasn't ready yet if it wasn't.
