Making sure Bethany had everything she needed, Sophia slipped out of the bedroom feeling exhilarated. Both babies were sleeping in the cradle, thankfully it was a large one and Bethany was lying gazing at them, though she doubted she would be awake much longer. She returned Anders' smile as he joined her. Kolby was remaining guard over Bethany and his new charges, lying beside the cradle and Leandra was sitting on the chair by the window deep in thought. "They are beautiful."
"They are. I'm just glad everything went smoothly. I certainly wasn't expecting to deliver twins."
"It's going to be difficult for her without Alistair, but I will do everything I can to make it easier for her."
"We all will." He hesitated, glancing back at Leandra, sighing softly. "Well, most of us will. We need to get a message to her father and brothers."
"I will sort that out, they are going to be so happy."
Anders grinned knowing how excited Garrett was to be an uncle. "Yes, they are."
Grabbing her coat, Sophia headed outside breathing in the cool morning air. Humming happily to herself she headed down to the Hanged Man, knocking on the door to Varric's rooms surprising him, relieved he was awake.
"Bit early to be visiting, isn't it Pixie?"
"It is never too early for good news, Bethany had twins, a boy and girl delivered a short time ago."
Grinning broadly Varric grabbed two glasses and a bottle of brandy. "Now that is cause for celebration. Just a sip to mark the occasion." He chuckled at her surprise.
Smiling Sophia stifled a yawn. "Before that can you send one of your messengers to the mine, her father and brothers need to know."
"Sure thing. Sit yourself down, there's actually something I want to talk to you about." Settling into a seat, Sophia smiled as Varric returned knowing he would have told the messenger to get there as fast as possible. Her smile faded slightly at his expression. "You look worried Varric and that makes me worried."
"I received some news from Ferelden from one of my contacts an hour ago."
"Bad news I take it."
"Maybe not."
"Alright why don't you just tell me."
"Shit. Listen, the short version is that the Ashes of Andraste have apparently been found and one of the people who found them was blessed by … well by the spirit of Andraste and the Ferelden Chantry have named him Her Champion."
Sophia stared at him stunned. "That is … bold. This contact of yours must be pulling your leg."
"I don't think so Pixie, not this contact."
"So, who is this Champion?"
Shifting uneasily Varric worried at his lower lip. "Blondie's brother."
Paling Sophia shook her head. "But he's dead; he was killed at Ostagar."
"Well apparently not. Not only that, my contact said he has been seen with Warden Alistair, one time ward to Bann Teagan."
Sophia gave a delighted gasp. "But Varric, that is amazing news!"
"Yeh maybe, but even if this is right, it doesn't mean they are still alive. I don't want to make things worse for Sunshine, or Blondie."
"They would want to know about this."
"I could be giving them false hope."
"I think they would still want to know. I know I would. Come over tonight; with luck, Malcolm, Garrett and Carver will have arrived by then and you can tell them all."
xXx
It was late afternoon when Bethany heard her brothers and father arrive, having used the tunnel beneath the cellars. Her mother had left a short time ago and she was determined not to think about where she had gone. Focusing on the present, she laughed quietly all three trying to be quiet, only her father succeeding, her brothers too excited. Hugging her father, having been desperate for his arrival, she followed his gaze to the cradle, Garrett and Carver grinning like fools.
"Oh Bethany, they are beautiful." Malcolm said softly. "I suppose we should have expected twins."
Carver grinned. "Can we hold them?"
"Be gentle." Bethany demanded.
"As if I would be anything else to my niece and nephew." He murmured, gently picking up his nephew, glancing at Garrett who gently cradled their niece. He glanced at Bethany who was hugging their father knowing how much she missed Alistair. He moved over to Garrett before turning his attention to the twins. "You can always come to me and your uncle Garrett." He whispered. "If you are ever scared, or unsure or just really angry, you can come to us and we are going to find your daddy and bring him home."
Garrett smiled slightly glancing at Bethany. "Have you decided on their names?"
"Emma and Nicholas. They were the names Alistair and I were first thinking about." Bethany swallowed hard against the lump forming in her throat.
"They are lovely names." Malcolm soothed, hugging her tightly.
Feeling tears well Bethany took a shuddering breath not wanting to think about how far she was from Alistair and that he had no idea his children had even been born. "Dad I need to tell you something and you won't like it. It's mom, she's seeing someone else!"
"I know, your brothers told me."
"No, you don't understand, she kissed him last night! She is with him now!"
"Sweetheart, I think your mom decided our relationship was over when we were choosing a ship to leave Ferelden."
"But dad …"
"Bethany, you know the only thing worse than losing the person you love? Staying with someone who no longer loves you."
"She wants me to forget about Ali and marry some nephew of Lady something or other!" She winced at her father's weary sigh. "When this Blight is over, I'm going home. Will you come with me?"
Smiling lovingly Malcolm nodded. "Nothing would make me happier."
"Will you stay tonight?"
"I'm not sure I should Bethany, your mother …"
"I don't care about her. She's off with her fancy man!"
"Bethany, calm yourself."
"I don't want to calm; how can you be so calm?"
"Bethany, think of the babies."
"Alright, let's not think about her." She gazed at her children, feeling her ache for Alistair become overwhelming. "I wish Ali was here; he's going to miss so much."
Malcolm gazed at his sons, knowing they were all wishing it was within their power to bring her husband back to her.

Sitting on the marble bench Leandra gazed out across the beautiful and well-kept garden, sighing deeply dreading returning to the estate.
"Do you want to tell me what is on your mind?" Marcus asked softly, sitting next to her and taking her hand.
"Bethany gave birth to twins in the early hours this morning?"
"Well, that is wonderful. Should you not be with her?"
"We argued, I thought it best to give her a little space. Oh, Marcus I just want the best for her. I do not want for her the life I had struggling to make ends meet and always worrying. I want her and her twins to be happy, but she will not give up on the idea of Alistair coming back to her. He is a Warden, all the hoping and wishing in the world cannot change that. She has to come to terms with the fact he is gone and will never be coming home. Not because he does not want to, but because he cannot."
"It will be hard for her to accept that, especially with having two babies."
"I know. Lady Cybil's nephew is a widower and eager to remarry and have a family. She assures me he would accept the children as his own. With him she would have a stable life; she would have security."
"Give her time Leandra, it is not so easy to give up on those we love."
Meeting his gaze Leandra felt a tremble move through her body, her breath catching as he knelt before her.
"I love you Leandra, I have made no secret of that. I want to be your husband, I want to give you the life you have missed out on all these years and I swear Bethany and her children will want for nothing, I will make sure of it."
"Oh Marcus." She gazed at him, her heart pounding.
"Will you consent to be my wife, Leandra?"
"Yes." She whispered. "With all of my heart."

Taking his time heading to Sophia's, Varric realised he was stalling for time. He wanted to see the babies of course, but he was less eager to part with his news. Iona opened the door to him and led him through to the main room. The Hawke brothers were leaning on the fireplace grinning broadly, Malcolm sitting in an armchair, the twins in his arms looking every inch the proud grandfather he was. Bethany was sitting beside him looking radiant despite clearly being tired. He found himself handed a drink by Anders as Sophia made a toast to celebrate the arrival of the twins.
"What's up Varric?" Bethany asked, smiling at him. "I don't think I have ever seen you look this nervous; they are just babies."
"They are indeed and beautiful. My nerves … well, I received some news from Ferelden, not quite sure how anyone is going to take it."
"Spill it Varric." Garrett demanded feeling unnerved.
"It seems that the Ashes of Andraste have been found."
Malcolm raised an eyebrow. "In the middle of a Blight, that's … rather convenient timing."
"There was apparently some kind of test, a Gauntlet they are calling it, to see if those seeking the Ashes were worthy. A group was looking for them to save the Arl of Redcliffe and Lord Fergus Cousland's son."
Anders frowned slightly. "Varric, why do you keep looking at me?"
"Listen I only know what my informant told me, but one of the party spoke with and was apparently blessed by the spirit of Andraste."
"Still, what has that to do with …"
"Damn it Blondie, the guy's name is William of the Denerim Guard. A man promoted to Captain at Ostagar; a man who survived Ostagar despite a mortal wound! Sound like anyone you lot know?"
Anders paled, glancing at Sophia who had caught his mug as he dropped it. "Will's alive?"
Varric handed over the poster that had been included in the letter. "The Chantry is calling him the Champion of Andraste."
Anders slowly unrolled the parchment seeing an image that was a fairly good likeness. "It's him." He whispered.
"How could he have survived that?" Carver gasped, staring at the image.
"Morrigan." Anders stated triumphantly. "It had to be."
"Then that means we just left him there." Carver whispered in horror, glancing at Garrett who had paled. "We could have helped him."
"From what you told me you probably would have died trying to get to him." Anders stated firmly. "And neither of you have magic. No, it was Morrigan and most likely Flemeth as I'm not sure Morrigan would have had the skill to heal a mortal wound. By leaving him you probably saved his life."
"Apparently he's with the Wardens." Varric continued glancing at Bethany. "And that includes Ser Alistair, the one-time ward of Bann Teagan." He grinned as Bethany hugged his neck, happy tears slipping down her cheeks. "Look I hesitated to let you know this because they are in the middle of a war and shit happens and …"
"But they were alive." Anders stated softly, holding the parchment tightly. "Thanks Varric."
"My pleasure."
The happiness Bethany felt suddenly turned to suspicion, a frown darkening her face. "But wait, if Flemeth saved Will why did she act as though he was dead?" She glanced at her brothers and Anders seeing the confusion in their eyes. "And if she lied about Will, what else did she lie about? Did she say what she did just to get her amulet out of Ferelden?"
Sophia glanced at Varric who shrugged. "Amulet?"
Anders quickly told her what had happened, suddenly feeling they had been played by the witch.
"And you haven't taken it to the clan yet."
Anders squirmed slightly. "I hadn't really thought about it to be honest; I've just been concentrating on … well on other things."
Varric shifted slightly. "Any idea what this Keeper is going to do with the amulet?"
"Not a clue." Anders murmured.
Bethany's eyes blazed with fury. "That bitch!"
"Bethany …" Carver fell silent at her fierce look.
"What if we never needed to come here at all! Gwaren was defended, we could have helped there and probably have been safe. I might have seen Ali again; he knew we were going to Gwaren! He might even have been there for the birth! And the way she looked at dad as though he shouldn't have been there. Dad, you and mom would still be together if we hadn't left! I say we find out a bit more about this amulet and what it means before we just hand it over. That bitch fractured our family over it and I want to know why."
xXx
Firmly holding Marcus's hand, grateful for the gentle squeeze he gave as she opened the door; they headed inside surprised by how quiet it was feeling an air of tension. She hesitated hearing Garrett urge Bethany to be calm. "The boys are home." She stated softly praying Malcolm had already left and that Bethany wouldn't cause a scene. "Well, it is for the best if we tell everyone at the same time." Heading from the foyer into the main room she smiled as her children, Anders, Sophia and Varric turned to her, relieved that Malcolm was not in sight. Ignoring Bethany's immediate scowl as she saw Marcus, she cleared her throat. "I have some wonderful news." She glanced at Marcus taking strength from his adoring smile. "Marcus proposed this evening and I have accepted." She shifted slightly at the silence in the room. "This is the part when people usually give congratulations."
"How could you!" Bethany gasped tears in her eyes, standing and disappearing to her room where her father was sitting watching the twins sleep, his face slightly pale. Shutting the door quietly she hugged him. "I'm so sorry dad."
Malcolm swallowed painfully and hugged her gently.
Garrett glanced at Carver and forced himself to stand. "Mom I ... this is unexpected."
"Surely you want your mother to be happy." Marcus stated hurriedly trying to ease the growing tension. "With your father returned to the Maker I swear I will make sure she wants for nothing. I have loved your mother since we were children, I am very serious in my affections."
"I see that." Garrett stated. "This is just a surprise that is all."
"Please give me a chance to prove I can make your mother happy."
"I … I can see that you do."
Carver glared at his mother. "Isn't this a bit soon!"
Marcus wrapped his arm around Leandra's waist. "I know it cannot be easy to see your mother with another man."
"You can say that again." Carver snapped.
"But your mother surely deserves to be happy; surely you want her to be happy."
Garrett swallowed painfully; glad Anders had moved beside him turning to his mother. "We do want you to be happy, but are you sure this is really what you want?"
"I am very sure."
Heart sinking Garrett nodded, grabbing Carver's arm knowing he was a moment from saying something he would probably regret. "I see. I … we didn't expect this when we came here, it will just take some getting used to."
"Of course." Marcus soothed, eyeing Carver uneasily, the siblings had clearly been very close to their father. "I just want to reiterate that I only want the best for your mother and I want to and know I can make her happy."
Leandra squeezed his hand. "Let's go for a walk Marcus, it seems my children need some adjustment time." She ignored Carver's glare and the hurt look on Garrett's face and left.
"How can she do that?" Carver exploded the moment the door shut, turning as his father came out of the bedroom, Bethany beside him.
"Well, I would have hoped she would have told me privately before she made the announcement." Slumping into a seat Malcolm sighed deeply.
"Here uncle." Sophia stated passing him a brandy.
"Thank you." Malcolm met his children's worried gazes. "Alright, none of us expected this, or not yet at least, but it is what it is. I want no more arguments with your mother about it."
"But …"
"No Bethany, I mean it. She has a right to be happy."
"And what about you?" Bethany snapped.
Malcolm smiled warmly. "I have three wonderful children and two beautiful grandchildren; I am a blessed man."
Carver sighed softly. "Dad you're not dead."
"But this Marcus believes I am. As far as he believes there is no reason they should not be married. You need to accept him, even if you are not happy about it."
"The sooner we get back to Ferelden the better." Bethany muttered.
"That won't be for a while yet my darling."
"This isn't fair. I hate that we came here!" She flushed as Sophia and Varric shifted awkwardly. "I … I didn't mean that quite the way it sounded, I'm glad we met you truly I am, but everything is falling apart and I …" She sank onto a seat and burst into tears.
Moving over to her, Sophia hugged her gently. "We didn't take offence and we know how hard coming here has been on you all."
"If we didn't have you, it would have been so much worse." Bethany sobbed, she turned hearing Kolby whine, not prepared to leave the twins in the cradle, but showing his concern. "I'm alright." She sniffed. Standing she wiped her eyes and returned to the bedroom sitting in the chair next to the cradle, Kolby's head resting on her knee as she gazed at her children who were sleeping peacefully, blissfully unaware of the drama. She glanced up forcing a smile as Carver leaned against the doorframe.
"When you go back to Ferelden, I'm coming with you." He winced as she began sobbing again and hurried over, kneeling in front of her.
"How could she do this to us? How could she tear our family apart like this?"
"I don't know, but she has made her choice and we have made ours."
"I'm glad you are coming back with us. I'm worried Garrett will feel he has to stay here because of mom and if he does, I don't know what Anders will do because he hates it here as much as I do."
"They will work it out. You just need to concentrate on the twins and at least we know Ali got away from Ostagar and he was still alive very recently.
Wiping her tears Bethany smiled. "He will come back to us; I know he will. Whatever it takes he will come back to us."
xXx
Settling into bed Anders stared at the ceiling, his thoughts in chaos. He was relieved that Jayden was alive of course, but the Chantry clearly had him in their grasp and he feared for him more about that than for his fight with the Darkspawn. He thought of the Seeker wanting to recruit him and felt his stomach squirm wondering if this was some larger design of the Chantry. Perhaps someone knew who he truly was and a future Teyrn would be useful for them. He longed to return to Ferelden, to fight at his side, but for the moment at least he was stuck in Kirkwall. Glancing to Garrett as he slipped into the bed, Anders nestled against him.
"I can't believe Will survived that." Garrett murmured softly.
"And Ali being with him is good."
"Varric said he will try and get more news. I just … I hope for Bethany's sake it's good. With mom's announcement I'm worried about her."
"We are all here for her." Anders soothed.
Nodding Garrett settled down yawning loudly. "I know." He suddenly grinned. "I'm an uncle." His grin broadened at Anders' soft chuckle. "They are amazing."
"Getting broody?" Anders teased sleepily.
"I think I will be happy just being an uncle." He smiled as Anders snored softly, sinking into sleep himself a short time later, a smile on his face.

It was just past dawn when Bethany decided she might as well just get up. She had been up every few hours with the twins, but she doubted she would have got much sleep regardless. The announcement of her mother's engagement had thrown her; she had assumed this was just her mother living a bit of a fantasy, that she was completely abandoning her father was inconceivable to her. She simply couldn't imagine a time she would ever abandon Alistair and they would work out this Warden business she was sure of it. Taking a moment while the twins were sleeping, Kolby staying with them, Bethany slipped into the study frowning as she realised Sophia was drawing the amulet Flemeth had given Anders. "Soph, why are you doing that?"
"Not sure it would be the best idea to take the actual amulet when we go to ask the Dalish about it."
"I suppose. I still want to go with you."
"The twins need you to be here. Anders and your brothers are coming with me and you know Varric can't help himself if there is a chance of a story."
Bethany smiled slightly before sighing in resignation. "That bitch has torn my family apart Soph, we have to find out what is so important about that amulet."
Standing Sophia gently took Bethany's hand. "I am going to do everything I can to find out what this amulet is, I promise."
xXx
Gazing up at Sundermount, Anders felt a cold shiver move down his spine. Sophia knew a little of the mountain's history and Varric was able to supply more. Sundermount had once been a battleground between the elves of Arlathan and the Tevinter Imperium. It was said during their fighting they had unleashed horrors into the world, they unlike those who had summoned them were still said to prowl the mountain. Truth or fanciful tales made little difference; few chose to trek the mountain. He wondered then why the Dalish clan would choose to make their camp there and so he had searched the tomes in Sophia's library, discovering that Elven elders were said to go there to sleep and that an altar to Mythal was at its peak. He imagined then that the site was sacred to the Dalish despite the bloody history. Whatever the truth he had a bad feeling about the place and while faint, the closer they came to it, the more he was sure he could feel something, an echo perhaps or one of the ancient demons said to have been summoned. Whatever it was he was trying very hard to ignore it. Varric had told him that there was an abandoned Thaig beneath the mountain. He supposed he should be grateful they were staying above ground, having refused to go exploring as Garrett had suggested.
There were caverns that had to be passed through to reach the peak where the altar of Mythal was said to be. He imagined it was still there or why would the clan be there. It made him shudder just thinking about it, wondering how many had died in those caves during the elven, Tevinter battles. With so much death and summoning of Maker knew what, the veil would be thin making it a very dangerous place to visit. It was partly why he had talked Bethany into staying away. She was too vulnerable whether she admitted it or not with the twins and Alistair still gone from her side. He had no doubt she was a strong mage and under normal circumstances could turn away any demon, but her grief over Alistair being a Warden, her anger with her mother and now Flemeth and the usual upheaval of emotions associated with giving birth had left her vulnerable. While he still believed she could defend herself from any demon intent on claiming her, he did not want her to go through that experience, it was too much on top of everything else she was having to deal with.
His thoughts turned to Jayden feeling a spasm of guilt that he was not with him, fighting by his side. He had thought about returning almost constantly since finding out he had survived Ostagar, but he could not leave without Garrett and he would not leave Bethany and the twins. So, for the moment they were concentrating on the amulet and finding out what was so important about it, that Flemeth had lied to get them to leave Ferelden. He felt a wave of fury, his fists clenching; he knew she worked to her own agenda, he was no fool, but she had known Jayden was alive, she knew how much they meant to each other and yet she had left him believing he was dead. If for that only he intended to keep the amulet away from the Keeper until he knew exactly what it was for.
xXx
Feeling the approach of the small group before the hunters even saw them, Keeper Marethari gave instructions that they were to be allowed to enter the camp. She felt their coming as a ripple of energy, bringing with it the tremor of destiny. The echoes of Asha'bellanar's influence were present, but there was something else, something had changed the blond man's path so significantly that she could almost see the ripples around him, it whispered of a boy the Halla trusted. Smiling, she walked towards them. "Welcome, I am Keeper Marethari."
Sophia stepped forward, the agreed spokesperson for their group. "Greetings Keeper, I am Sophia." She quickly introduced the others. "We come seeking information that we think you might be able to give."
"What information do you seek?"
Handing over the parchment with the drawing on it Sophia watched the Keeper for her reaction, believing she recognised the amulet.
"How did you come by this?"
"Do you know what it is?" Sophia asked, avoiding the question.
Marethari handed back the parchment. "It is a promise of sorts, a debt that must be paid." She glanced over the group, her gaze resting on Anders a fraction longer than the others before she turned once more to Sophia. "Whoever has this amulet would have been given instructions."
"Where to take it perhaps, but not what it is for."
Marethari leaned on her staff. "Knowing what it is for is not necessary to bring it here."
Realising they were getting nowhere Anders stepped forward. "Keeper Marethari I was given the amulet by Flemeth to bring to you, but Flemeth lied to get us to come here so I am sorry, I am not handing it over until I know what it is for." He glanced at the elven warriors watching them. "And I don't have it with me."
"I see. Asha'bellanar, the woman you call Flemeth will get her way by whatever means suits her at the time. She has lived many lifetimes, is very powerful and very dangerous. Whatever she said to get you here was done because she felt it necessary. You may feel anger towards her, but it does not change the fact that you are here because it was her will."
"What are you supposed to do with it?" Anders persisted.
"A specific Dalish rite will be performed. I can say no more."
Garrett gently caught Anders arm as he hissed in frustration. "Please Keeper, there must be something you can tell us."
Hesitating, Marethari sighed softly. "It is a fraction of the whole, a precaution in times of great danger." She turned to Anders. "Like you I owe a debt to Asha'bellanar. The rite will clear the debt, just as bringing me the amulet will clear yours. Asha'bellanar is not someone in whose debt you should linger. Whatever this lie was, whatever anger it has provoked, it is not worth keeping or discarding the amulet, trust me that will not end well for you."
Anders felt his anger spike. "She had me believe my brother died at Ostagar when we now know he survived. I left him!" He ignored Garrett's hand on his arm and the tensing of the Dalish warriors, fury burning within him. "And it has torn apart others! No damn amulet is worth that!"
Marethari moved to him gently placing her hand on his cheek hearing his sharp intake of breath as she closed her eyes, before she smiled and stepped back letting her hand fall to her side. "He faces the darkness true, but he is not alone."
Anders met her gaze trembling slightly. "I should be with him."
"He will come to you, assuming he survives."
"Very comforting." Varric muttered.
"Let's go." Sophia stated realising they would get nothing else.
Watching as they left the camp, Marethari turned as Merrill approached.
"You should have demanded the amulet."
"And why should I have done that Da'len?"
"You mentioned a debt. I thought …"
"They will return, I have patience."
Merrill fell silent realising the sooner the rite was done on the amulet the sooner the clan would be free to move on and there was still much for her to learn.
xXx
Audacity smiled as Merrill returned, the young Dalish had stumbled upon him to his fortune. He was taking a cautious route with her as she was the first to have found him in a very long time and she appeared easy to manipulate, yet there was something about her that suggested a harder edge he had yet to see and he needed her if he was to finally be freed from his prison. The Eluvian she was so desperate to rebuild would be his salvation, but there was much to do before a fully functioning Eluvian was created.
"Are you sure you can help me to cleanse this shard?"
"I was a witness to the creation of the Eluvian itself in Arlathan. However, your power is not strong enough to cleanse the shard, but there is a way."
"You keep saying that, just tell me what it is."
"Your Keeper would disapprove."
"I don't care, I need to help my friends!"
"Then listen carefully, the shard can be cleansed, but only with blood magic."
Merrill was quiet for some time before she sat down on the ground. "Tell me how."
xXx
Feeling exhausted Merrill sank onto a rock outside of the cave. She had to be careful, if the Keeper suspected she was coming to see Audacity she would never hear the end of it. Demons were just spirits and being afraid of them just didn't make sense, besides she understood the dangers, she was no fool, but there was so much Audacity was teaching her and with his help she would cleanse the shard of the Eluvian and find Theron and Tamlen. She swallowed painfully, so much time had passed, perhaps it was foolish to still hold the hope that she could find them alive, but she knew they would never give up looking for her were the situation reversed. Sighing she made her way through the caverns to the camp, slipping into her Aravel and carefully unwrapping the shard she kept hidden, its surface still darkened with the taint. Audacity had assured her that soon she would be able to cleanse it, then she could begin the process of restoring it. That was going to be more difficult to hide, but Audacity had assured her he could help with that too. "I will find you my dearest friends, I swear I will."
xXx
"Well, what happened?" Bethany demanded the moment her brothers stepped through the door.
Garrett shook his head. "The Dalish are supposed to do some kind of rite, but we found out little else."
"Wrong, we found out plenty." Anders stated. "The Keeper said it was a fraction of a whole, a precaution in times of great danger."
"What does that mean?" Bethany asked, frowning slightly.
"I think it means a part of Flemeth, her soul is attached to this amulet." He sighed at their astonished looks. "It was something Morrigan said to me once, that a fraction of the soul could be resurrected into the whole. She was desperate to get her mother's grimoire to find out more, but Flemeth guarded it too well for even Morrigan to get all but the briefest and rare glimpses at it." He held the amulet up. "I'm betting this is Flemeth's back up plan if she was somehow killed in the blight, that was why she needed us to leave Ferelden." His eyes narrowed. "If Will and Alistair survive this and come looking for us then I will give the amulet to the Dalish Keeper, but if they … if anything happens to them, I will toss this into the deepest pit I can find."
