Chapter 7
"Hey yo, Dabi! What're we doin out here? Aren't we supposed to be watchin' the Nomu?" Twice asks with animated hand gestures as Dabi hangs by the edge of the building to watch the chaos below.
He surveys her from above, as she continues to push through the crowds, looking for that winged fuck boy as her head shoots from side to side. She looks so fuckable in that skin tight dress of hers and those heels. Dabi groans at the sight of her, knowing that he is so close to taking her for himself, but he needs to remain patient.
"Not yet," he tells his energetic friend. "Just one more thing," he hangs on the thought as his eyes hungrily watch her.
Twice stiffly trots towards the edge of the building to see what holds Dabi's attention. His eyes land on the purple haired girl below. "Oh, so that's the girl?" he calls out excitedly. "I've seen better," his other side deadpans.
Dabi glances back at his villainous friend with an unenthusiastic lidded expression, only to return his eyes back on the purple-haired girl in the crowd below. "She's valuable to our cause. I don't trust that feathered fucker."
He perks up when he notices that her head begins falling under the weight of the panicking around her. He smiles to himself, his smirk threatening to tear his staples as he looks down at the panicked look on her face.
"Come on," he lazily calls out to Twice. "Time to swoop in on our white horse," he chuckles as she jumps from the roof.
He lands harshly on his feet, a buckling in his knees before he lifts himself up. He presses through the crowds, heating up his skin so people push away from him. He notices her hand lifting above the sea of people that threaten to drag her under when he snatches her wrist violently. He tugs on her, pulling her small frame upwards and out of the panicking crowd.
He swipes her out of the sea of bodies and yanks her into an alleyway clear of the flowing bodies. His eyes land on her lavender pools as they search for her knight in shining armor but instead land on his scarred face.
"It's you," she calls out breathlessly and he smiles lopsidedly at her. She lights up at the sight of him, and he loves that effect he has on her.
"Hey, butterfly, now's not the best time to go for an afternoon stroll," he says smugly and her lips press down in a frown at him.
"Dabi?" she questions, eyes darting back and forth between his as she tries to make sense of what he is doing in front of her.
Her eyes widen at the realization of the shit storm that is happening before her, and she turns away from him, shooting her head to the sky as she searches for Endeavor and Hawks.
She lifts her arm up to the sky, shielding her face from the emanating heat raining down on them as Endeavor releases his signature move Prominence Burn.
The entire sky ignites in flames as the villain is incinerated before him. Her eyes widen when she and Endeavor notice the villain split himself from the warpath of his signature move, and regenerates his body once more.
Asami gasps, moving her shaking hands to her face, covering her mouth in trembling fear as the villain sends an attack to Endeavor, piercing his body and spilling the hero's blood. She watches in sheer terror as Endeavor's body falls from the sky, crashing limply and lifelessly to the ground.
"Endeavor," her voice quakes out of her lips as her eyes widen in fear and her chest compresses in panic.
She takes a step forward, hands still up to her face, moving towards the fight as if she could help in some way, when she feels a strong hand placed on her shoulder.
Her heart sinks at this and she jumps at the harsh touch, completely forgetting about Dabi's presence until she turns towards the black-haired man. When her body turns around to look at him, she notices another person standing behind Dabi in a full black and gray jumpsuit as Dabi smiles at her.
"Hate to end the show early, butterfly, but it's time to go," he rasps at her with flat lidded eyes.
Her brows furrow in confusion as the suited man approaches from behind. "What are you talking about?" Asami asks, moving her head back towards the fight when Dabi snatches her chin with a frightening speed and turning her attention back to him.
She gasps at his movement, her eyes widening at his. "We don't have time to stick around, little bird. The plans' gotta begin."
Asami doesn't move and Dabi moves his hand from her chin and down to her wrist, grasping it tightly and tugging her towards him. She instinctively attempts to pull her hand away from his grip, but he just tightens his hold on her, heating the palms of his hands.
"You can either come willingly, or not. Either way, it'll be fun for me," he says with a sinister smile lifting against his lips.
"Take your hands off of me!" she yells, heaving her arm towards her, but his grip doesn't waver as he continues to hold her.
"Sorry, butterfly," he says as his lips turn downwards and he grabs her other wrist with his free hand.
Asami takes a step back, feeling the threatening nature of the conversation, and her flight or fight instincts begin to drive her movements.
She lifts her hands up in a defensive mechanism as they shake in his grip. Her fingers claw downward and Dabi feels a straining in his chest as his hands unwillingly ungrasp her wrists. He curls inward, grasping his torso as he feels his heart beating wildly in his chest.
"Twice, get her!" Dabi growls with a deep feral tone as she steps away from him, preparing to flee the duo.
Twice jumps into action, grabbing her hands and pulling them behind her back as he holds them pinned together. Dabi instantly feels relief in his chest once her hands are bound and he looks up at the panicking girl.
"So that's what 'Fluid Manipulation' means in your city records," Dabi chuckles. "You manipulate the blood in someone's body? Fuck, doll you made me feel like I was having a heart attack," he chuckles between labored breaths.
"What the hell do you want from me?" she whines looking up at him with tangling brows as confusion and frustration with the situation sink in.
"For now? Cooperation," Dabi deadpans as he stands right in front of her face, inches from her. "We can work out some other possibilities later," he says with a cheeky grin on his face.
She looks up at him with an incredulous look on her face, completely baffled by the scenario playing out before her. Asami snarls at the smug smile on his face, pulling her head back and headbutting him in the face. They both grunt from the pain, and some of Asami's hair gets caught and pulled out by the staples on his cheeks.
"Let me go!" she yells at him wildly as she begins writhing against Twice's hold.
"You little bitch!" Dabi growls at her, cupping her mouth and jaw in his large hand. His turquoise eyes light up as if his blue flames were dancing behind them.
She notices one of the staples in his cheek is loose and blood trickles down his face. He widens his stare, glaring at her with a dangerous look that tells her she's on the brink of death if she doesn't comply.
"You're just going to make this worse for yourself," he says, his voice low to match the perilous look in his eyes.
His hand lowers from her lips, allowing her to speak. "What do you want?" she asks again with a frustrated whine. "Can you just take your hands off of me, please. And then we can talk about this?"
They hear a booming explosion in the background as a wave of debris hits them from the fight. Their eyes shoot up to the sky as Endeavor continues the fight against the Nomu.
Dabi sneers as he looks up at the flame hero who continues to fight against the constructed villain, rather than being taken down as he expected him to be.
Frustration builds in his chest and he has to get going. "Sorry, butterfly, I don't have time for pleasantries," he grumbles as he pulls out a syringe from his pocket and lifts it to her face.
She begins thrashing in Twice's grip as he grabs onto her bicep and plunges the needle into her arm, despite her fruitless fighting. Quickly her vision begins blurring and her head grows heavy as it rocks back and forth in an attempt to stay upright. Within seconds, her head slings downwards and her body grows limp.
"You've got your hands full with this one, Dabi," Twice laughs as he pulls her up into a bridal carry.
"That's how I like 'em," Dabi returns with a lopsided smile on his face. "Now get her to the hideout," Dabi commands, turning from him. "I've got a hero to burn," he says with a satisfied smile on his face.
Dabi approaches the scene with his hands dug deeply in his pockets, smiling slightly as he sees the flaming hero down on his knees where he belongs. He watches as the blonde turncoat stands next to the hero with a comforting hand on his shoulders at the sight of the villain approaching them.
"Well, I didn't expect to see you here," Dabi calls out to the two heroes that look up to him. He encases them in a large ring of blue flames so neither of them can escape from his confrontation.
"The League of Villains. Dabi," Endeavor grunts at the sight of the villain, feeling disgust lacing his tone. "You killed Snatch. He was a good hero!"
"Snatch, huh? Doesn't ring a bell," Dabi smugly responds as the hero seethes. "Why don't we forget about him and have a friendly chat? Who knows when we'll have another chance?"
Endeavor attempts to lift himself to his feet to fight the villain, but he quickly falls back to his knees. Dabi smiles to himself, thinking of all the times he was forced helplessly on his knees before the man.
"You can't fight like this!" Hawks calls out to the man. "Just recover your strength for now. I'll take care of this guy. I only have small feathers left, but I should be able to buy us some time."
Dabi keeps himself from laughing, reveling in the irony of the situation that he is here to buy the villains time to snatch up Hawks' little slam piece. He pulls his hands out of his pockets extending out his arms, "Aw no need for heroics, the only reason I'm here is to retrieve my fallen Nomu. I mean, no way I could win this fight!" he cries out as he launches himself towards them. "Unless the top two heroes were bloodied and beaten already!"
He pulls his arm back, lighting up his fists as he moves to strike against them when a war cry from above fills the air. He is quickly knocked back as concrete and debris lift up and push the villain back. The Rabbit Hero Miruko joins the fight and Dabi looks up at her, uninterested with her intrusion.
"Saw the news and hopped over!" she calls out with a wide victorious smile. "Patchwork, you're part of the League, huh? I'll kick your butt!" she teases him as she looks down at the villain.
"Man, and things were just gettin' good," Dabi grumbles, grabbing at the collar of his overcoat. "Do it, Ujiko," he commands the villain as a portal begins opening before him.
"See you later Number One," Dabi teases him, knowing that he will escape. "I'm sure we'll have a heart-to-heart someday; I look forward to it. Until then, try not to disappoint," he smiles viciously at the hero. "And don't you dare get killed, Enji Todoroki!" he growls at the Number One hero, promising himself that he will be the death of that flaming bastard.
