A: Atmosphere

Contestshipping

Two dots were slowly making their way up the cold, snowy mountain. One was red, with brown and peach details, while the other looked entirely green, with a pale skin-tone that almost blended into the snow.

"How much longer, Drew?" The brunette huffed, looking up at the green-haired man.

He sighed angrily. "I've told you this a million times, May. We're reaching the top in about two hours. Maybe even three, if you keep this up,"

The girl immediately clamped her mouth shut. She did not want to waste any time; she was starving.

Drew looked back and just rolled his eyes as they continued forward.

Suddenly, the male felt a sliver of a fresh snowflake prick his face. He looked up in horror.

Bright white and grey clouds took over in a few seconds, as the winds increased in speed. The green haired man struggled to keep going, and ultimately decided to take shelter.

He glanced around for his partner. "May?" he called. "Drew, I'm over here!"

The man stared. There she stood, in front of a cave, ushering him over.

"Drew!" her voice sounded a little more faint this time. Was she getting farther away or something?

"Drew? Come on!" Why was her voice fading out? It was practically swept away with the winds.

All of a sudden, he couldn't breathe. He felt his lungs closing up, trying to gather as much oxygen as possible. Soon, he felt his vision turn slightly darker. What was happening?

He felt himself hit a pile of snow. "Drew!" was the last thing he heard before everything turned black.

He woke up with a start and looked around after not feeling the sensation of snow on his face. Then, he realized that he was seated in a cabin.

He tried to stand up, but grabbed his head as he fell back down, his insides throbbing.

The door in front of him creaked open as he saw the brunette woman come in.

"May? What happened? Where are we?" he asked.

She smiled. "Drew! You're awake! We're at your parents' cabin up in the mountains." she informed him.

"What happened?" he asked drowsily.

May tapped her index fingers together nervously. "Well…"

Flashback…

"Drew!" May ran towards her crush and knelt down.

She shook him violently. "Wake up, Drew! Wake up!" she hollered, but he couldn't.

She examined the boy closer.

His teeth were chattering involuntarily, the tips of his fingers were blue, and he looked slightly pale, and a strange shade of purple.

Then, it dawned on her. He didn't have enough oxygen! She immediately bent down and performed CPR. She wasn't sure if it would work, but it'd have to do for now.

She slowly mounted him atop her backpack and adjusted her goggles slightly.

She put one hand underneath his thigh to keep him steady, and one hand was grasping her hiking stick.

The girl continued to walk up till the top of the mountain. Thankfully, it didn't take her as long as expected, and she reached in over an hour.

Once she reached, she lay Drew down on one of the beds in the bedrooms.

There was oxygen being produced throughout the cabin, which made it easier to breath.

Present…

"So I fainted from lack of oxygen?" Drew asked.

May nodded. "Yes," she confirmed.

Drew nodded before scratching his head sheepishly. "Thanks. For saving me," he spoke shyly.

May blinked before laughing. "Oh, it was nothing, really!" she exclaimed happily.

Drew grinned at seeing her eyes light up. If only he could've spent more time with her on the way here…

Damn you, atmosphere.
