Jack, Miko and Raf rush over to a nearby rock to hide behind, though Jack peered back around as he saw that Azura was now facing Skyquake. He widened his eyes as he was immediately concerned by this. After all, Azura was still a lot smaller and weaker than the zombie con. He glanced at the fire on the ground and saw it was already going out. There was no fuel on the ground for it to keep spreading, which was a good thing, but there were bigger issues than that now. And Jack clenched his hands as he was not sure of what to do. Azura was a danger to them and herself at the moment.
"Azura, get away from that thing!" Jack shouted, making Miko shriek and try to pull Jack back. "Stop it, Miko!" He glared at the girl who was looking at him fearfully. "I know Azura launched a breath of fire at us just before, but this dimension is obviously causing her system to react badly, and it is like something else is controlling her. I'm not sure if it's just self defence or not, but her optics are still white." He looked back at Azura and saw Azura blast plasma at Skyquake, hitting the right shoulder successfully. "I can't just stand here and watch!"
Jack ran back at around and Miko watched in horror. "Jack, wait! She could kill you!" Miko shivered a little as she noticed the drop in temperature. "Brrr, and I don't know if it is just me, but it is starting to get kind of cold here. And…is that the sound of wind whistling?"
"I am noticing that too." Raf stepped to the side to watch Jack rush over to Azura. "And I have long sleeves on, and I am still noticing the temperature change." He frowned for a moment before gasping. "Oh no…Azura can control the weather…and while this dimension may not have any actual weather patterns, she could create some kind of weather phenomenon."
"Like…a snowstorm?" Miko asked and Rafael nodded. The girl groaned and looked back at Jack. "Just what we need."
Jack could not hear what the two were talking about at this time, as he was focused on Azura. Yes, she just unleashed a wave of fire at them, but she was disoriented, and this dimensional shift clearly caused some kind of negation reaction in her system. Now, whether it was due to her actual system or crystal, that didn't matter anymore. As far as Jack knew, Azura needed to be helped. And she was not fit to face off Skyquake, even if he was slow. But one wrong move, and Skyquake could kill her.
Azura groaned and held her head, shaking it without realizing Skyquake was about to kick her. The plasma blast at his right shoulder damaged the con, but he did not back down. "Azura! Look out!" Azura looked up and saw Jack running at her. She hissed and turned, with her chassis glowing a light blue, before he suddenly tackled her and pushed her out of the way of the zombie con. When she landed hard, she groaned and glared at Jack. "Come on! We got to move!"
Azura felt him grabbing her wrist and pulling her to her feet to follow him. She stumbled as she followed him and blinked, her vision changing slightly as she ran with him. "You…attacked…"
"No, I just saved your life!" Jack stopped and turned to face her for a moment, placing his hands on the sparkling's cheeks. She glared at him and Jack hoped she would listen. "Please listen to me, Azura. We are not a threat to you. I want to help you." She whimpered and looked away, still unsure as she could not understand why he would want to help, when it seemed that they had caused this to happen. "You need to stay with us, or we are all going to get lost here permanently."
Azura blinked and grimaced a little, with her optics flickering between white and blue at this time. "My head…feels weird…I hear what you say, but I…" She turned her head when she heard the growl from the zombie con and she hissed loudly. "I need to…"
Jack pulled her to the boulder to stop her from facing the decepticon. "You can't face him, Azura! Come on!" He managed to drag Azura to the other side of the boulder and turned to face her. "We don't want you to get hurt. Your carrier will not want you to do that. You're still an infant!" Azura stared at him before she turned suddenly. "Don't you…" Jack widened his eyes when she began to heave again, and once again, thickened bile was what she was purging onto the ground.
Miko grimaced and turned away. "Eh! I'm about to puke too! But tell her to stop turning the temperature down. It is getting cold!"
Jack looked at Miko in surprise. "Cold? How is…" He paused as he realized that the temperature around them was dropping. "Oh…you're right." He looked at Azura and placed his hand on her back gently as she took deep intakes as she finished purging. "It's okay, Azura. You don't need to make things cold. Your system can't handle extreme cold, so you don't want to do that." He glanced up at Skyquake who was still walking towards them. "We need to keep moving though."
Azura glanced up at the zombie con before Jack pulled her by her wrist again and she followed him. She was still stumbling as she ran with him, but she also still did not trust the situation. She could hear it in his voice that he cared for her, but something still did not sit right in her mind. She was really uncomfortable, and felt like she might be unable to find her carrier. She only wanted to protect herself, and that is what she felt that she was doing.
As they run, she glanced over her shoulder when she saw Rafael tripping, and he seemed to start looking around for something. Azura did not realize what he was looking forward, as Jack pulled her behind another rock and ran back to grab Rafael to bring him around. She watched and growled lightly, making Miko step away from her. She noticed the girl was shivering a little, and that only made Azura increase the speed of the wind, and Miko grumbled as she felt the icy wind blowing over them, and she felt icicles starting to fall and float around them.
"Ugh…you don't have to make it so cold!" Miko exclaimed as she rubbed her arms as she tried to keep warm. "You aren't going to help yourself, Azura." Azura looked at her, and flicked her tail suddenly, making Miko duck as the knife at the end of Azura's tail almost swiped her. "Woah! Jack, if she keeps trying to hurt us, I don't want her to be dragged alongside us!"
Jack frowned as he saw what Azura had tried to do as he ran around the boulder with Raf. "Jack, my glass!" The boy tugged on his arm, and Jack realized that Raf had indeed lost his glasses.
Jack looked back around the side of the boulder, and he saw the glasses, but he also saw the approaching decepticon. He wanted to get the glasses, but he felt it was too dangerous. "Way too dangerous."
"I can't see them."
Miko walked around Azura who was still growling lightly, though the sparkling was listening to them. "What are you? Ninety?"
Jack glared at Miko. "Not helping."
Miko glared back at him and walked away from him. "Fine! I hope she tries to stab you next as well!"
Jack widened his eyes as the girl ran away suddenly. "Wait! Miko!" He watched in shock as Miko ran towards the glasses. He flinched as he heard Azura growling, and she walked forward as she was watching Miko run away. Jack glanced at her, and saw her chassis was glowing a blue color. "Azura, don't!" The sparkling did not listen as she opened her mouth. "Miko! Watch out! Azura thinks you're doing something bad!"
Miko glanced back as she picked up the glasses, just as Azura unleashed a plasma blast at her. Miko jumped to the side and avoided it, and glanced up just as Skyquake lifts his foot to step on her. She dodged him, and another plasma blast hits his leg, and Miko began to get more afraid as she worried that this was causing Azura to attack her. She really was disorientated, and acting like something else was controlling her, as Miko knew that Azura would never try to hurt her.
"Azura stop, please!" Jack shouted, grabbing the sparkling's arm, and she glared at him. "Please! Miko won't hurt you!" Azura's chassis began to glow white instead of blue and she looked back as Miko had managed to run around Skyquake and she was running back. "Miko, watch out!"
Miko was about to when Azura breathed out a wave of ice, but it was almost more like a lightning strike of ice, but it did not even hit Miko. It rushed past her, and Miko felt the cold temperature, and glanced back to see the wave of ice struck Skyquake's feet, and created a wall of ice and it caused the zombie to be stuck in his place for a moment. This made the con confused as he tried to move, and he began to swipe at his feet to get himself free.
Miko ran over to Rafael, huffing and puffing loudly, as she was shaken by what just happened. "Here you go, gramps. We should book it and get out of here." She glanced at Azura who looked at her. "But…thanks for not turning me into a popsicle…I hope we are still friends."
Azura listened to Miko and she grimaced, placing her hand on her forehead before she spoke to her. "Friends…maybe…I don't know…everything is fuzzy…" Miko softened her expression as she did feel bad for Azura, but she was also afraid of her at the same time. "Uh…I…" Azura glanced back at the zombie as Skyquake broke the ice and continued walking towards them, making Azura cause the temperature to drop more and more snow began to kick up around them. "He must be destroyed."
"Yes, but not by you. Come on." Jack grabbed Azura's wrist again and pulled her to follow the three children. "And I know you are causing all this wind and snow, Azura. I ask again, please stop. It is getting very cold, and because we're the only ones in this dimension, there is nothing to stop the wind getting through." Azura just looked at him with a confused expression and Jack sighed. "I guess we will just keep trying."
Azura's optics flicker again between white and blue as she ran with them. Her vision would clear briefly, and got back to very blurry. She really could not see where she was going. And while she had the sense of not wanting to trust the humans, she felt like she could trust Jack. He hasn't hurt her, and he has been reassuring her a lot. It made her feel a sense of familiarity with him. The more he spoke to her, the more time she spent, she realized he was familiar. She did not know why she did not remember anyone or anything, and it was like she was in some kind of dream, but she was glad she felt a sense of familiarity.
Jack himself was glad that he was able to get Azura to calm down enough that he could encourage her to follow him. And she was listening to him, which made him think she did recognize him, but the vortex explosion was messing with her mind. He doubted that being moved to another dimension itself was not the reason for this behavior change, but rather the vortex implosion instead. Regardless, it was dangerous situation for all of them.
"Maybe we could set a trap." Jack and Raf look at Miko in surprise when she began suggesting ideas. "We could…maybe get Azura to melt it or something with her fire and plasma, maybe even make him even slower with some lightning."
"Trap it with what?" Raf argued with the girl, who shrugged as they keep running. "Nothing here is solid, except us and the ground. And a good thing too, or we could have fallen straight through and be on our way to the sun."
"That is not very funny, Raf." Miko did realize though it was a good thing, even if when Raf gave a visual of what could have happened. She did agree that they had nothing to work with at the moment though.
The only thing they could do at the moment was run, and run as fast as they could away from Skyquake. Luckily, that wasn't hard, but with Azura struggling to run as she was still stumbling a bit. It seemed her body was struggling just overall, and it was still rather insane that she was even able to transform. Though she was mostly halfway between her dragon form, and full form, so she probably could transform the full way, but she may not.
Though Jack did wonder if the Cybertronians required their external covers to even transform. It might necessarily be required, if they scan a vehicle and transform into the shape of the vehicle. They just might look like a car with just its frames or something like that. That would be kind of creepy, but it was something to think about, especially as it seemed that Azura wouldn't need her external covers to transform. It will be interesting to see how she would transform with the external covers.
Miko grumbled loudly as they continue to run as she began to huff and puff. "We can't run forever!"
"Not like we have a choice. I don't think that thing is going to give up, even when it loses sight of us." Jack glanced back at Azura, and saw her optics seemed to be blue again, though they were flickering. "Oh, Azura. Are you feeling, okay?"
Azura glanced at Jack when he questioned her if she was okay. She groaned as her vision changed again, and this time, the three kids looked different to her again. But in a good way, as to her, they looked like they had a glow around their bodies. She blinked a few times before responding. "J-Jack?"
Jack smiled as soon as she said his name. "That is me, Azura. I am glad you remember me." Azura smiled slightly, even though she was still clearly confused about all of it, and was still struggling to focus. He looked back his shoulder to see that there was no sign of Skyquake at this time. "Looks like we are clear at the moment. We should keep running a little bit more before we stop to take a breather."
"We could take one now," Miko suggests, and Jack shook his head, making her groan. "Ugh! Fine! We'll keep running! But like I said, we can't keep running forever!"
Jack knew that. Azura herself would be okay, though while she didn't need oxygen, she might need a moment to rest. Especially as her body was not okay. But they keep running, as keeping their distance from Skyquake was the best thing that they could do at this time, and Jack ensured that Miko and Raf did not stop, even though Miko wanted to. Jack reminded her that by running, they also were keeping themselves warm, as Azura has not relented in stopping the temperature drop.
It did snow around them, and snow began to slowly cover the ground. Azura might be causing this, but she was certainly not focusing fully. Which was why when she thought of dropping the temperature and causing the snowfall, they were now stuck in the shadow zone with cold temperatures and a snowfall. And without Azura's focus, she couldn't stop it. But at least the temperature wasn't too cold, so they wouldn't freeze, as long as they kept moving.
They continued to run for at least another five minutes before they decided to take a moment to rest, though where they stopped was a dead end. They could not see or hear Skyquake approaching, though they knew he was probably still trying to find them. At least they didn't leave any footprints, even though the zombie con was unlikely to be smart enough to think of that. Azura glanced around as she was keeping watch of the zombie con, even though she still felt nervous and confused.
Miko took deep breaths and looked at them with a slight smirk. "The best thing about zombies, they're slow moving." She took deep breaths and she looked at Azura who looked at the girl. "So…do you remember me too?" Azura frowned a little and she shrugged, looking at Jack who had a sympathetic expression. "Aw…well…" Miko shrugged and looked at Jack. "You did know her before Raf and I did. Especially since you were best friends way back then."
Jack nodded in agreement. "I think that has something to do with it too. No matter." Jack took a deep breath and looked at Azura. "I can't imagine how you are feeling, to be honest." Azura whimpered and turned, looking around for any sign of the zombie con. "The mess your system is in, probably would feel awful. Though while you don't seem sick, the fact the energon turned into a bile that your puked up before is weird."
"And it is interesting she seems to have more control of her abilities here," Rafael noted as was seated on the ground while trying to calm himself down. "Especially her breath abilities."
"I noticed that too. Ugh…" Miko suddenly became worried. "Um…how are we going to tell Optimus that Azura breathed fire at us?" Jack raised an eyebrow as he had not thought about that himself. "Well…how will we explain all of this? I know we don't understand what is happening to her right now…but still…" Miko rubbed the back of her neck, as she was worried about Optimus's reaction.
"I don't think we should be worried about Optimus, Miko. He is wise and understanding, and I highly doubt that he will be mad." Raf glanced at Azura for a moment and looked back to the girl. "We've been around him long enough to know he won't blame Azura. I am not blaming her, because this certainly does not feel like something that is her fault."
"No…it's mine…" Miko placed her hand on her arm as she admitted it. "I ran through the vortex, and you all followed out of concern. If I hadn't, this would not be happening right now."
Jack was about to respond when he heard the sound of his phone's ringtone. Raf gasped in shock. "Is that your…"
"PHONE!" They all exclaimed in unison, while Azura jumped and looked back at them as Jack grabbed out his phone.
"Hello?! Arcee?!" Jack was desperate when he spoke into his phone, but all he got was static. However, that didn't stop him. "Arcee?! Are you there?! Can anybody hear me?!" He glanced at Azura worryingly as not getting anything from his phone made him more nervous. "Hello?! A-Arcee! Ugh…nothing…" He lowered his phone, feeling defeated at the moment.
"Gee, imagine that! The fourth dimension has lousy cell phone reception." Though she was sarcastic, Miko had hoped that it would work.
Though Jack was still looking at his phone thoughtfully, as he realized that he was getting a signal. His phone would not have rung otherwise. "Wait, guys, guys, guys, the phone rang. We're getting a signal." He glanced at Raf for answers, knowing that the boy might know more than him.
Raf wasn't sure though, as he couldn't give him anything, other than a possibility. "Maybe, the autobots can't see or hear us because…we're moving at hyper speed or something…"
Azura turned to face the three as she listened to them. "But…they reached out…" Her optics were remaining mostly blue at the moment, as it seemed her system was starting to steady and relax, though not enough, as the three look at her. "We…we have to reach back…"
Jack nodded. "Do you think they can read our texts?"
Raf smiled and nodded, and Miko immediately got excited. "Text me! If my phone's back at the base, maybe they'll see it."
Just as Jack began to type a text to send to the autobots, Skyquake finally made his appearance. Azura let out a low growl as she saw him approaching them, and she began to prepare herself with a breath attack. "Uh…" Raf looked at Azura and looked at Skyquake nervously. "Can you type and run?" Jack turned, looking back at Skyquake and widened his eyes just before Azura unleashed a large wave of purple fire at Skyquake, searing the path in front of them and melting the ice from the ground. "And…we got an angry dragon…"
"Come on!" Jack ran forward as he saw Skyquake had been hit as his legs and abdomen were on fire, but he growled angrily and was unrelenting. Jack grabbed Azura's wrist roughly and pulled her along to lead her under Skyquake to run the way they came. "Come on, Azura! Let's get going!"
Miko and Raf follow as Azura's mouth still have smoke seeping out, as she was worked up, and her optics were white again. It was still unknown as to what was causing this, but that didn't matter. Azura ran with them away from Skyquake again, though Azura was glaring back at the zombie with low growls. She didn't like this thing following them, and she wanted to destroy it. She was damaging the zombie con, but her abilities weren't strong enough yet to do serious damage to a decepticon.
But as the fire was still burning on Skyquake's body, and it was spreading, Azura yanked her arm from Jack and turned to face the con. Jack stumbled when he felt her pull away and he turned in a panic. "Azura, stop!" He watched as she launched another plasma attack at him, hitting the zombie con's stomach and successfully blasting through a little. "Azura! Stop!"
Azura turned and attempted to swipe her claws, but Jack pushed her wrist away and she growled at him, only to soften her gaze when she realized who it was. She blinked and her optics flickered to blue again. "J-Jack? I didn't…hurt you…did I?"
Jack shook his head. "No, you didn't. I know you want to deal with that zombie, but we need to run. You aren't strong enough right now, Azura. Optimus wants you to be unharmed." Azura's optics fill with tears and she grimaced for a moment and the children watched as her tail, spikes, whiskers, claws and horns began to transform again, reverting her back to her full form. "Azura?"
She reopened her optics and blinked as if she was seeing this place for the first time. "Jack? What happened?" She glanced around and jumped when she heard the growl behind her, and saw Skyquake walking towards them with fire on his body. "What…wait…why are we still here? We aren't at the base?"
Raf and Miko glance at each other with frowns. "Weird…she's acting like she blacked out," Rafael commented and Miko nodded in agreement, and Azura looked at them in surprise. "It…It's probably best you don't know. But we need to keep running. We can explain as quickly as we can, but we can't stand here with Skyquake walking towards us."
Azura nodded in agreement and she began to run with the three teenagers and she wasn't stumbling anymore. Azura felt dizzy, and she couldn't remember what happened, as after running into the vortex, her mind just felt fuzzy. She couldn't remember what had happened before, but clearly things did happen. She knew it, because she wouldn't have been standing in front of Skyquake otherwise. And they were still here, not back at base.
As they ran, Jack and Rafael were kind enough to give her a rundown of what happened when they ran through the vortex. She was shocked to hear that the two vortexes beside each other caused a system overload, and it sent them to another dimension. She was immediately worried about whether they would get back to the autobots, though she did ask Jack what happened. Jack told her that the dragon part of her came out, and she almost burnt them to crisp, caused a snowstorm which has stopped now, and tried to destroy Skyquake.
Azura was shocked that happened, as she did not remember that at all. She felt weird, but she didn't feel extremely weird. Especially when they mentioned she had purged some strange bile, which Azura didn't like the sound of. It would also explain why she felt that her tank was empty, but she didn't feel like ingesting anything. That can at least be dealt with when they get back to the base.
However, knowing that she could have potentially hurt Jack, Miko and Rafael was alarming to her. That meant there was a part of her that was awake, and controlling her actions, and she wasn't aware of it. As if it was a dream, rather than her being actually awake. But even in her dreams, she would recognize friend from foe, so that made even less sense to her in her mind. She didn't know what the teenagers would say to the autobots, but she would want them to tell them the truth. After all, she knew very well that Ratchet would find something if they did not say anything.
