Chapter thirteen:

Haruhi wakes up the next morning actually feeling quite rested after laying on such a soft bed. She makes it into the living where she pauses upon seeing Tamaki talking a man in black clothing like some kind of uniform. She is about to back off when the man notices her and Tamaki turns to her tearfully worried. She blinks at seeing this from her so she approaches him. "Is everything alright?" She inquires taking his hand which he squeezes comfortingly.

"I am very sorry." The man speaks up causing Haruhi to turn to him. He hands her a folded piece of paper.

Confused Haruhi takes it and opens it easily recognizing her fathers handwriting. She gets a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach so she starts to read. She just hopes that he is just saying that he left the city or something.

To my dearest Haruhi.

I am sorry for the way we parted ways. I just felt that it was for the best as I want you to be able to follow your dreams even if this is the way you want to go to achieve them. You mean so much to me and I understand that your future is so much more important than what I want. You are the future generation after all.

There is only one thing that I can do so I won't ruin everything for you. Please don't be upset with me for it. I know that you will grow into a wonderful woman just like your mother. This is only goodbye for now and I know we will see each other again one day. Just not in life. Do not fret about me. I will be with your mother once more and together we will watch over you as you achieve the greatness we both knew you were capable of.

You can do many great things and I don't want to be the one to hold you back from all that you can achieve. You'll make a huge impact upon this world and one day everyone will know the name Haruhi Fujioka, or whatever your last name becomes if you ever marry someone.

I hope that you find a wonderful partner who will treat you the best in the way that you should be treated. You deserve the best of the best after all.

You will always be my little girl and I will always love you dearly. Also I am sorry for anything I said that hurt you badly before we parted ways.

This isn't goodbye, it is a see you later. I know one day we will see each other again. Just hopefully not until you're really old and ready to pass on.

Love you forever and always, your father.

There is even a drawn heart at the bottom.

Haruhi falls to her knees being smart enough to realize what this means. She feels Tamaki wrap his arms around her trying to comfort her.

"He jumped from a building. Dying upon impact." The man lets out a sad breath clearly feeling sympathy for Haruhi right now. "I am truly sorry for your lost."

Haruhi hangs her head trying to not show her tears falling down her face. How could she have been so blind!? She was only rejected by him because he thought he would get in the way of her future and now hes gone… She tries to muster up the courage to speak only to find that the words won't come. She just quietly cries with Tamaki hugging her tightly.

"I will take my leave now. I have given the number to Tamaki here so you can get into contact to be able to retrieve his body for a funeral." The man leaves with that.

Haruhi doesn't even look up as she just cries for awhile with Tamaki staying right there with her. She swears she does notice him shed his own tears over her loss. Her heart hurts however she does find some comfort in having Tamaki here sharing in her sorrow. She finally manages to calm down when she runs out of tears. She notices a hand reach over touching her chin gently lifting her head until she is looking at an older woman.

This older woman looks sympathetic and a little thoughtful.

"Grandma." Tamaki starts only for the woman to raise a hand silencing him without even looking away from Haruhi.

Tamaki's grandmother lowers her hands to her lap as she is sitting on her knees. "You know. I always wanted Tamaki here to grow up and marry a lady of good stature." She looks Haruhi over before returning to her face. "I do sympathize with your loss and if you two work out I suppose we can make you be marriage material for him. I will help you become the wife I know Tamaki deserves. For himself and for this family."

"Thank you." Haruhi silently promises to not lose herself by going along, though she does want to make good impressions on Tamkai's family.

Tamaki's grandmother gets up leaving the two of them as she is letting Haruhi grieve for the loss of her father.

"We will give him the best funeral." Tamaki promises with a sniffle to Haruhi. "You can even get anything you want for him as a parting gift. I will pay for it." He probably added the last part so she would know that he isn't going to just steal it for her.

Haruhi already knows the perfect gift. "He always wanted to be buried in a kimono with waves and koi flying to become dragons on it." She admits glancing to Tamkai who nods his head.

"Done. You can even decide how it will look."

"Thank you." Haruhi wraps her arms around Tamaki who holds her close. She is so glad to have someone like Tamaki in her life.

At the funeral…

Haruhi is wearing an outfit that is like one she wore to her mothers funeral. She feels like it is a nice way to say goodbye to her father by appearing like she is still his little girl, just for him one last time.

The casket is fancy and has to be closed to spare everyone from looking at the damage from his fall to his death. There is a picture on top so everyone can look in his eyes one last time at least.

Haruhi is the first to be able to approach the casket as her fathers friends wait for her to have her turn saying goodbye to her father not watching her to not rush her in saying goodbye; Even Tamaki has kept his distance to let her do her goodbye on her own. She places a hand on the casket about where his head should be. "I love you dad." She admits tearfully. "I am sorry that it had to end this way and I know I will make you very proud of me. Say hi to mom for me." She quietly sniffles trying to not break down. "I'll miss you very much. You were a wonderful father." She lingers there for a little longer before finally backing off. She goes with Tamaki who leads her away as the others get their chances to say goodbye. She wipes at her eyes to try to not cry. She wants to be strong for her father. She is lead to the entry way where the host club steps in wearing all black.

"I hope you don't mind that I invited them." Tamaki mentions as the host club show their sadness and sympathy for Haruhi. "You're a part of my family. All of my family. Including the host club. And as family we would like to show our support for you."

Haruhi can't help a slight smile at this. "I don't mind at all. I appreciate it." She gives Tamaki a kiss on the cheek getting a blush from him and approving looks from the other host club members.

….. Years later…..

Haruhi and Tamaki stand on stage looking out over the students of the school they run after Tamaki inherited it from his father. They share a loving look with one another having even married a year after they finished high school.

Haruhi has become a very successful lawyer however she always makes time to help Tamaki out with the school.

"Ready to begin another school year?" Tamaki offers Haruhi his hand and she nods.

"Both of us are ready." Haruhi mentions touching her stomach.

It takes a moment before it clicks in Tamaki's mind and he hugs her with squeal of happiness getting a chuckle from Haruhi.

The future has been amazing and Haruhi is so glad she gets to experience it with the kindest husband she could have ever asked for.

The end.
