Chapter 4: Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott

The next day, we all went to the New Hazlett Theater in the North Side to see a play about Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. While jamming out to NSYNC and 98 Degrees, we composed a Childhood Chat in which Lauren Bennett discussed taking a dare at 3 years old in downtown Pittsburgh, Emma Wallace discussed sporting her new socks in 7th grade in East Liberty, Madison Dayley discussed talking in silly accents in 3rd grade in the North Side, Kayla Jennis discussed doing manicures in 8th grade in Oakland, Brooke Leesaw discussed dancing to music at the end of her freshman year at Pitt in Shadyside, and Jessica Linden discussed sleeping in total darkness at 17 years old in the South Side. "Kayla did the exact same photosynthesis project that I did when I was in 8th grade," Carly pointed out. "Before she did her manicure, hopefully," Mr. Benson sternly stated. "Yeah, who wants to do a photosynthesis project with wet fingernails?" Spencer asked. "My favorite client to talk to was Brooke," Alex stated. "She was probably dancing because she was excited about her freshman year being over, which is typically the hardest year of college, and that is the same year I graduated from Pitt." "I graduated from Mercyhurst 2 years later in 2015," Justin stated. "Same here from Indiana University of Pennsylvania," Max added. "Alex and I are both late bloomers which is okay with me because 2015-2016 was a much better follow-up to our upperclassmen year of 2009-2010 than 2013-2014 was, and thank goodness, this year is not like that," I pointed out. "Yes, definitely," Alex agreed. "I told Sarah, James, and Henri how when I did not feel comfortable with them, our winters were brutal," I stated. "But, when we felt more comfortable together, our winters became milder." "Did you feel the same way about us after you became more comfortable with us around 2009-2010?" Alex asked. "I suppose so," I stated. "But, the seniors will be partially like me and the juniors will be partially like you guys, but not until after the winter is over." "I will feel like dancing once Justin and I are accepted for Brass and Woodwind Instructor at Music Support Group Academy in Turtle Creek," Alex happily stated. "Seeing their Christmas concert prior to Christmas reminded me a lot of our Christmas concert from junior year. The choice of songs were nice and they looked and sounded great. Not just the MSG concert band, but the Greater Pittsburgh concert band, as well." Then, the play started and it was a very entertaining story about how Rosa Parks changed the world with her Montgomery bus boycott. After the play was over, we headed over to the Federal Gallery for dinner. While jamming out to Kate Bush and Lizzo, we composed another Childhood Chat in which Ashley Cassoin discussed taking a dare in 1st grade in Hampton Township, Kaitlyn and Colleen Marioni discussed eating gummies in 2nd grade in the western suburbs, Natalie Bay discussed taking a selfie in 10th grade in Ross Township, Rachel Luster discussed watching a scary movie in 1st grade in McCandless, Victoria Spurnick discussed doing manicures in 12th grade in the northern suburbs, Emily Grey discussed dancing to music in 5th grade in Westmoreland County, and Grace Luster discussed pulling pranks in 7th grade in the southern suburbs. "Who can imagine the North Side being so cold and gray this time of year?" James asked. "Certainly not me," Sarah replied. "Being in the North Side reminds me of the baseball game that we saw at your high school," I pointed out. "No offense to you, Sarah, but I actually can't wait for it to be hot again so we can start selling lemonade again!" "Oh yes, that will be a lot of fun," Henri happily agreed. "That explains why we opted for Mexican food today after I had one of Alex's chicken fajitas for dinner last night," Sarah stated. "We ordered Chinese food during the heat wave, not Mexican food, remember?" I asked. "Oh right," Sarah stated. "Well, this was a great idea and I am looking forward to more great outings for the spring, and as a matter of fact, the entire calendar year of 2024!" Then, we all headed back home for the evening. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
