Chapter 11: Waking Up to what the heart wants
It was another night in the infirmary with only the rhythmic beeping of the equipment hooked up to Alyssa to keep Flora company. The clock on the wall read 10pm and Flora was already falling asleep in the chair. Tecna walked in to the infirmary at 1045pm to see Flora sleeping in the chair, her brown hair was in her face as she sat there in the chair. Tecna walked up and gently shook Flora.
"Hey wake up Flora you fell asleep sitting up, its late and you and Bloom have been working tirelessly on this why don't you cuddle up to Alyssa too? I'll take a turn watching over her and I'll wake you and Bloom up if anything changes."
"Thank you Tecna you're a life saver." Flora said getting up and getting in the other side of the bed next to Alyssa. Tecna smiled and put the three bags of snacks on the bedside table and sat in the chair that Flora had just vacated.
As the moonless night gave way to the morning glow of dawn something changed, Alyssa began to move a bit her hands and legs began to move and then her eyes slowly opened. When Tecna saw that she shook Bloom and Flora awake.
"Hey you two get up, I'm about to go get the doctor."
Bloom and Flora slowly woke up to the sight of Alyssa's hazel eyes open, Alyssa on the other hand was shocked to feel the tube in her throat.
Flora was the first to say something when she saw Alyssa's eyes. "Oh Alyssa you're awake thank goodness we were so worried about you. You were injured and in a moment where your emotions got the better of you"
The doctor rushed over to Alyssa's bed and carefully removed the tube from her throat. Alyssa looked so relived seeing Flora next to her, she then turned to see Bloom. Bloom looked and saw Alyssa and cried tears of joy.
"Oh Alyssa you're awake I'm so happy."
Alyssa rubbed her head and tried to speak, her voice raspy. "What happened why am I in the infirmary?"
"We took you here after you got hit in the head with a rock after you let your emotions run wild. You created a bomb cyclone and pelted Alfea with tons of snow. Flora and I took turns watching over you you had us worried that you wouldn't wake up."
"I..I did...oh I...I'm so sorry I didn't mean too."
As Alyssa was beginning to piece together what had happened, Professor DuFour, Avalon, Palladium, Griselda and Headmistress Faragonda walked in all breathing a sigh of relief. DuFour was the first to speak.
"Alyssa, you're awake finally its been a few days we were worried about you. You're very lucky to have such good friends who saved you. We were speaking as we walked and we decided to reverse your suspension. Any assignments that was given to you, Bloom and Flora are excused also you don't have to do any work until we return from Thanksgiving break. We have done some investigations to who put up the posters. It turns out that Princess Diaspro put them up. We're still investigating on if there are co-conspirators but Alyssa you're welcome back."
Alyssa was half awake and fell asleep again hearing professor DuFour talk. When she woke up this time she woke up in the familiar bed of her dorm room. Looking around she saw Flora looking out of the window, looking around Alyssa was draped in her favorite blanket and her stuffed red dog was right next to her on the bed acting as her guardian… with the familiar tunes of Taylor Swift's Fearless album playing on the CD player in her room.
"Hey good morning sleeping head. You had quite the last few days. When you fell asleep this time I had to princess carry you to your bed. Oh here's a letter from your mom along with the snacks that she and Tecna bought you."
"Thank you could you pass me a drink from the table and let me just relax,"
"Yeah um sure, oh um we have midterms in a few weeks but most of the professors are excusing you me and Bloom. I hope you don't mind but I took a look at the letter your mom wrote. We're heading to your place for thanksgiving break. I'll ask my mom if its okay if you and Bloom come with me for Christmas. I'll let you rest now and by the way you're so cute when you sleep… oh what's the stuffed dog's name you never told me."
"S..skips his name is Skips. My mom bought him for me when I was young he's been my comfort item ever since then. Um Flora if you don't mind...I'd like you to stay here with me for a bit?"
"Of course Alyssa." Flora said walking over to the bed and sitting next to Alyssa, putting her hands on Alyssa's thigh. "You seem to have a months worth of snacks thanks to Tecna going to earth and shopping your mom. Musa looked on your social media and found out that your favorite artist is Taylor Swift so she has one of her albums playing on your CD player. Each of us minus Stella wanted to contribute to making your dorm as homely as possible. Bloom put up some scented candles for you, Musa has your favorite songs all on a CD for you, Tecna well...you know she went out to get you those snacks, Aisha brought a small indoor fountain for you to have the sounds of running water to calm you down and I...well I brought some plants from my room to brighten up your room. You have people here who care about you immensely Alyssa don't let anyone tell you otherwise."
"Thanks Flora." Alyssa said smiling before her gaze shifted down to her wrist. "A...a corsage?"
Flora blushed and said "yeah I used my magic and put it on your wrist on the first night in the infirmary. I'm a little embarrassed by what I said when I put it on you."
"What did you say?"
"I'm here my princess."
"Flora...I...i…..i don't know what to say. That is one of the most meaningful gestures anyone has ever done for me. I… I… I love you Flora thank you."
"I love you too Alyssa."
Bloom suddenly walked in "Hey am I missing a party? We're glad you're awake I heard you say the l word."
"Not at all Bloom, ugh I don't know… I love both of you and my heart can't make me choose between you two. My heart wants both of."
"Alyssa if that's what your heart wants who are you to deny what your heart wants. I love you too and I heard that Flora love you too. I think that's compelling information to tell you that you should follow your heart."
"You know what Bloom, you're right who am I to deny what my heart wants….Bloom, Flora will you both be my girlfriend I have felt a special connection since we first met I want this school year to be the best year and have you beside my side."
"And we'll be right beside you Alyssa, we love you and want what's best for you and if that means that all three of us are together, then that's what I want." Bloom said
"Exactly you are special to us and we are gonna have the best time of our lives here and we're not gonna let that silly little club destroy us."
Hearing that Stella walked into Alyssa's dorm "Wow look who's finally awake, shouldn't you be going home soon specialist? I heard you got suspended from this school...that was to lenient in my opinion. You should have been expelled for not controlling your powers. Your hormones are too out of wack and you are a danger to all of us real fairies here."
"Stella! Enough! You may berate me, attack my worthiness to be at Alfea, have that exclusionary club and hate me… but I will not stand for someone saying that I deserve to be kicked out for an emotional out burst that was caused by hurtful posters that I have a sneaking suspicion that you and your little club had something to do with….So leave my room, leave me alone and don't talk to me, or my two girlfriends ever again, not until you can see that I belong here just like everyone else. Got it?"
Stella just stood there shocked at Alyssa standing up to her. She eventually left in a huff.
"Wow Alyssa I cant believe you said that as calmly as you did...are you okay after saying that?" Bloom asked
"Yeah I'm okay. That felt empowering… you know since we're excused from classes until we come back from Thanksgiving break why don't we spend a few weeks at my home and then Flora we can spend a few weeks at your place and then we can visit your home on earth Bloom, before returning to my place for Thanksgiving"
"That sounds like a lovely idea Alyssa. Let's get packed and have a nice vacation from this school and the negative aura around here."
"I agree Bloom let's get going." Flora said. And with that the trio of lovebirds began packing for an extended vacation.
