Hello author here, I know since I last updated Wedding Explosion and I'm so sorry I've only just getting round to posting now. Hopefully my explanation below will help explain why.
However, I've had a trying year as sadly I lost my other grandad (who I was really close to) unexpectedly. At 75 years old he was fit and healthy and he was still working full time. It was 12 days before Christmas we lost him, he was playing with my 5-year-old brother, when he just collapsed on the kitchen floor. Turns out he had a sudden cardiac arrest. Makes it worse when not only did my little brother see everything but I've been dealing with the fact that I had to do the CPR and the fact it did not save him which makes feel awful because I was his one chance and I failed.
Anyway, again I just wanted to explain everything that has been happening in hopes you all understand why I haven't wanted to write anything for this story and hopefully you all enjoy this next chapter.
Chapter 103
(9:06pm) 17 minutes later…
"It's nice to have you awake mate." Brax told his younger brother.
"Sorry Brax." Kyle said quietly.
"There's no need to be sorry Kyle." Brax sighs "If anything it should be me apologising."
"I shouldn't have shouted at you. I guess I was trying to hide the fact I was in pain."
"Well, next time you'll remember to tell someone straightaway because we don't want to lose you." Brax replied with the rest of them all agreeing.
"I know you don't bu…" Kyle was stopped from speaking by the sudden reappearance of his doctor.
Sid had originally wondered if it would have been best to wait before going back into Kyle's room, but he ultimately decided it would be better to get this over and done with now.
"I'm sorry to interrupt but Brax can I speak to you and Kyle alone please." Sid asked.
"Why?" Kyle quizzed his doctor. "Surely whatever you are going to tell us they'll find out anyway."
"He's got a point doc." Brax agreed.
Sighing Sid knew what Kyle had said was true: "Only if you are sure."
Kyle and Brax nodded in reply.
"I'm sorry to tell you Kyle, but your latest test results have come through and it isn't good." Sid mentioned noticing no one was saying anything he continued "You're GFR has dropped, it's now at 9."
Everyone in the room was shocked to hear this.
"No." Kyle suddenly said "No, no, no."
"Kyle calm down." Heath said as he placed his hand on his brother's shoulder.
"I'm so sorry Kyle but as you probably already gathered you have now entered stage 5."
"What does stage 5 mean?" Ricky asked.
"Kyle has entered end-stage renal failure. Which means we now have to start the process of placing Kyle on the transplant list. As it can take a while to find a kidney, Kyle will need to start dialysis." Sid informed them all.
"No!' Kyle said as he started to cry.
"Unfortunately, there's no other option Kyle without it you could die."
"I don't want it." Kyle told them then looked at his oldest brother "Brax please I don't want to be hooked up to a machine for the rest of my life."
Turning to his brother's doctor, Brax asked: "Can we be tested? If it gives Kyle a quicker chance of getting a transplant."
"Of course, however as Casey is only 17, he won't be able to as the legal age for any type of transplant is 18." Sid mentioned "If you want, we can start testing you all now while I get someone in here to start setting up before we put Kyle on dialysis."
Brax looked at his brother then back at Sid: "Ok then let's do that. Bianca can you and Casey stay here please."
"Of course Brax." Bianca said.
With that everyone else left the room, turning to her brother-in-law, Bianca took his hand and spoke: "Kyle, I know your scared but if this is going to keep you alive then we need to do it."
"I don't want it, Bianca. Please don't let them do it." Kyle begged just as a nurse entered the room, with the equipment she needed to get Kyle set up.
"Bro, the quicker they do this the more time they have to get the test results back and find you a kidney." Casey tried to say, "Besides we still have party to look forward too."
The nurse had just finished setting everything up when Sid came back in.
"Right your brothers and Ricky are getting some blood taken for the tests. While they do that, I thought I would come and insert the central line that will be needed to get the dialysis into your system." Sid informed his patient who looked terrified "Bianca you are welcome to stay but Casey, I will need you to wait outside please."
"Sure." Casey said with that he got up and went to wait outside.
Staring at the doctor, Kyle said: "Bianca."
"Yeah?" Bianca responded.
"I'm sorry for yelling at you while we were in the bush. I know now you were only trying to help." Kyle apologised.
"It's in the past all that matters now is getting you better otherwise Belle isn't going to be happy." Bianca replied causing them both to laugh even Sid.
"Right, you ready Kyle." Sid asked.
Nodding his head, Kyle squeezed Bianca's hand as Sid inserted the line and started hooking Kyle up to the machine.
