Katheryn's POV
Happy fourth anniversary to this story and I won't stop until its done. Even if people have stopped reading it.
Work has been fine for a cold snowy day. I know most mammals hate it when snow sticks around too long. Late March to long and of course, I don't mind, for I love snow. Our kits love it for it means more snow time. Meadowfields have many great hills to sled on. They have been sledding as much as possible. They always help Morgan so she can enjoy sledding, for she loves sledding. So they're enjoying this late snowfall it won't last long. Then it will be back to sledding in Tundratown. Which we set out to do as much as possible. Nick and I do join them in sledding and it's still fun. Nick tries beating them in races but crashes for he's a tall adult. He can't do the moves he once did as a kit. It's funny to see him wipe out. Those he has fun and our kits love it.
"Urgh this spring snow is annoying."
A client brushes off mushy snow off their jacket. They're standing by the door and the snow falls into the welcome mat. Many clients have complained about the snow. I suppose I can't blame them. A tundra mammal would enjoy the snow but other mammals wouldn't.
"Yeah, snow is only good in winter and at Christmas!" Kami said "Other than that it needs to go when spring comes."
"Agreed,"
Kami gives me a playful smirk and I roll my eyes. Kami has never been the biggest fan of the snow and it makes sense he's a hyena. Kami liked the snow more as a kit since a lot of kits love snow. We see the fun in the snow not the negativity of it. Of course, as an adult, I don't. Nick has the same views for he loves having snowball fights with me. So he loves snow that's sticky the best. He can make snowballs with that. So I have to watch out for him. He does have good aim. Those he can totally miss even when I'm in front of him. It never gets old when that happens. Of course, I have the same aim. With such an aim, it's always a joy. Our kits love throwing snowballs at us even Percy. It's a joy seeing a smile on his face. He's been through so much and he deserves all the happiness. All our kits do, and we will ensure they get that. They give us happiness.
"You're going to have a world of happiness," I say
I rub my belly talking to our son or daughter. We give them a world of happiness as well. Our son or daughter will do the same. It's what a loving family does. I can't wait for our loving family to get bigger. We're going to have a big amazing family. That's something Nick and I wanted. We come from small families and want to experience something more. Kaia and Mackenzie hope to have a small family. Families come in different sizes. Speaking of our son or daughter our new friend will get some photographs. It's something I'm looking forward to that and I will do some photographs of my own. It will be the first time I'm doing maternity photographs.
I have taken many of them including for my sister. They're fun to do and beautiful as well. I love seeing such happy faces. I'm going out on a field job for that and it's going to be a fun time. Rory and Serenity are also on a field job. We got a nice big job which pays good money. Of course, they didn't want me. But the pay is still the same so that's good news. I know that they're doing a great job. It makes me think of Gazelle and she still hires us for jobs. She pays extra for Gazelle kind like that. Even gave backstage passes to our kits and they loved that. With that source of money, we don't have to worry. It's nice having that and don't have to worry about making ends meet. I am working on some photographs that are the oldest and will be sent off to mammals in the photographs. We got some ready and more will be added to the pile. I work until I have to leave. For I don't like being late. I wave at Kami and he waves back who's working hard. I see Nick heading back from his lunch break.
"Ahh, I going to miss you," Nick said
"I'll miss you too," I say "How was lunch and did you run into Judy?"
"So sweet," Nick said "It was great and I have not."
"So great and good hopefully she will learn," I say
Nick and I kiss each other and he's a total dork. I love that about him and it never gets old. Judy wasn't happy with their first meeting for Nick put Judy in her place. I have a feeling that she's looking to get back to him. Currently, she seems the type to be like that. A bigot that should change their view before it's too late. I haven't met her yet but I feel like I will meet her soon. Fate can be funny sometimes and in our first meeting she won't like it as well. For I can be snarky when I want to. I head over to our work truck and everything is ready. Just as I always do and I double-check before I leave. I look up a post before heading out to drive. I still see Ruby missing poster I feel bad she's still missing. I hope for the best but I know it's going to be bad news. I mumble a few words for her and get inside the car.
I don't do a lot of maternity photos in Tundratown for the majority of mammals wouldn't do that. Those Tundra and arctic animals would. It's cool and snowing lightly today. The kind of weather I love. They're going to make beautiful photographs. I haven't decided on mine yet. I know it's going to be a bunch of them.
"Hello, Katheryn," Sarah said
"Hello, Sarah and Issac," I say
"Hey Katheryn," it's good to see you," Issac said
Issac is a good gentlemammal and we're glad to call him a friend. He was an officer on our side after what Mr. Stone did to us. He hates dirty cops and he's one of the good ones. He's a fur inches taller than Sarah and has more build to him. Having light blue eyes his right ear is torn up and left scar over his left eye. Many would fear him but he's a soft teddy bear. He wouldn't harm anyone but the bad guys. Hence he has many scars he's one tough cop. One that you want on the force.
"It's good to see you as well," I say
We're at a beautiful place in Tundratown well I think it's all beautiful. Because I love the cold and the snow. In sunlight the snow sparkles like little diamonds. There are pine trees in the distance and they have snow on them. These are going to be great photographs. Sarah is wearing a nice navy dress. Issac wearing a navy blue dress shirt and black pants.
"I know you're looking forward to your journey," Sarah said
"I am looking forward to it," I say
I know it's going to be a difficult journey and more so for me. I know I can do it and I won't be alone. I can mammals to talk to if becomes difficult for me. I touch my stomach its going to interesting journey for sure. I'm glad that I'm on this journey no matter what happens.
"It's filled with lots of emotions but it's worth it," Sarah said
"It is," Issac said "even when she's grumpy,"
Looking over at Isaac and Sarah they have a strong love for each other. Isaac saved her from a criminal. He was there for her recovery and they fell in love. Having everlasting love and a strong marriage. Sarah gives him the look and they learn. It's like Nicky and I. He thinks I'm adorable when I'm grumpy for I rarely get like that. I set up my camera and it only takes a few minutes to take their photographs. They do traditional maternity photographs like doing a heart on the belly. They're going to love their photographs. It was a wonderful time and it never gets old.
"So what do you think about Judy?" I ask
"I believe she can be a good cop." Issac said "But she has to change her views. I have seen the looks and that's going to cost her if she doesn't."
"I feel the same and lots of rabbits and hares are like that sadly," Sarah said "It still hurts they turn in fear for how I look. They think I'm a bad guy."
That must hurt even when you get used to it. I hold my paws together I have gotten looks like that. It hurts a lot for mammals to look at you like that. To hear their whispers that you're a criminal. Simply based on how to look.
"Yeah, we feel like that as well," I say
"I heard about what happened at that fair Wolford was there and told me." Issac "At least Judy believed him with that."
"It's good and we wouldn't do it on purpose," I say
We do check for counterfeit money and we do know what to look out for. We have gotten a few and let cops deal with them. So far we haven't used counterfeit money. Nor have strong knowledge of how to make them. We have learned from shows and haven't put much thought into making some. We're not criminals and have a clean record.
"I know you're good mammals," Issac said
"Thank you and how's finding the Underworld Kiler going?" I ask
"Urgh not well he's so random with his victims making him difficult to track down," Isaac said "The time between the killings is random, and where they end up too."
The Underworld killer is such an interesting one and there's going to be a show or movie about him for sure. Mammals sure do love interesting criminals like him. I do but I don't take it to an unhealthy level. Like writing letters to serial killers and wanting to hook up. Even worse wanting to have a kit. I just find them so interesting how could someone have such darkness? I find the Underworld Killer interesting and so does Nick. A part of it has to deal with my love for Greek Mythology. So I found it a bit thrilling I wonder if he likes Greek Mythology or chose the Underworld for it worked with his theme.
"That makes sense he probably chooses his targets so police can't track him down." I say "He likes killing and won't stop until you guys stop him."
"Yeah, it looks like that and we won't stop until we do." Issac said, "One of us is going to figure him out and put an end to him."
"Hopefully soon he's going to mess up," Sarah said, "As all criminals do in the end."
The Underworld Killer hasn't made a mistake yet and it's kind of freaky. His crime spree has been talked about a lot. There's gossip and rumors about him. Lots of theories about who he is and why he kills. Many preys think he's a predator and I heard about being a fox. I think he's a predator I don't think he's psycho or sociopath. Sure it feels like that to those who are monsters. But I think we would all would do bad things to monsters if we could. The other victims suffer little or not at all if they're innocent. Someone crazy wouldn't do that. Of course, it could all be an act Catheryn thinks that's a possibility. We have theories about him as well. I believe that he kills because he's bored with his life. Somehow he chooses his victims. Some bad ones are easy for they're criminals and with a bit of research, you can tack them down. So he did that with the criminals. But his other victims are a mystery. Why them and how did track them down? It's been a while since his last kill. They went to Asphodel Fields which means they were average mammals. Not overly good or bad just neutral. I do hope ZPD finds him soon it is freaky to have a serial killer lose. A type you don't know who or when he's going to strike. His victims are random coming from all walks of life.
"I can't wait for that to happen." Issac said "I hate the rumors he will target someone from law enforcement. Sure I don't want any victim but I hate being on edge.
The Underworld Killer hasn't targeted anyone with high stats like police officers or politicians. I have heard those whispers as well. Some want him to take down someone like that. Of course, it has to deal with the bad ones. He's too smart for that knowing that would put a bigger target on him. Police don't give up when one of them is threatened or killed until the threat or kill is arrested or gone. There are brothers and sisters in blue. There haven't been many cop killers in Zootopia.
"We all can't wait for that or at least the sane ones." Sarah said, "I can believe he has fans."
"Yeah, mammals can be attracted to dark mammals. The mind is sure an interesting thing we know little about." I say "At least he's not up with evil dangerous ones."
"Good Zootopia doesn't need to deal with that," Issac said
The Underworld Killer sure has fans like that and it's creepy. I remember when mammals were cheering him on. It was the first kills and they were bad mammals. Why was that who knows? Many saw him as this cool antihero taking care of bad guys. The worst of them didn't want him arrested and wanted to keep on killing bad mammals.
The Underworld Killer has been popular so fast. He hasn't killed many mammals yet and I can't believe I'm saying that. Zootopia doesn't deal with these types of criminals a lot. Zootopia is a safe city to live in. I can't believe that Zootopia has a serial killer. He can be anyone and watch you. Currently waiting in line to get some food for my family. There are two women in front of me and they're friends. They're talking to each other and having fun. I pay no attention to what they talk about it doesn't deal with me.
"Did you hear about The Underworld Killer latest victim another evil criminal? Such scum is gone from Zootopia and is safer with another rapist gone. He can take down criminals faster than cops can do."
"I have and good riddance, and he's handsome sure. I would love to meet him. I want to congrats him on doing a great job."
I heard about the Underworld killer's latest victim. I'm glad that another rapist is gone and was let off because of the broken justice system. Still, he should be locked up rotting for life. Death is an easy escape and taking justice in your own paw isn't the right way to do it. I roll my eyes I have heard whispers like this. It's not just women who have such thoughts gentlemammals have them as well. I do find the Underworld Killer interesting not like this.
Yeah that love didn't last long and The Underworld Killer killed his first innocent victim shortly after. Then the majority of the crowd supporting him turned against him. Of course, that's what can happen. You can do a lot good but they forget it if you do something bad or they view it as bad.
"Yeah, we don't need that and I'll see you two later," I say
"Later and we have to meet up for dinner soon!" Issac said
"We will for we enjoy it," I say
"Then we'll plan it and see you then," Sarah said
Issac and Sarah wave goodbye and they head off. I will head off and we will head back to work. Before I head back I want to get a bite to eat. I'm hungry and I'm eating for two each those technical that aren't true. It sure does feel like that him or she likes to eat. So I pack up and head off.
Deciding to come good old mac and cheese at this nice little restaurant. I do enjoy their mac and cheese. I decided on the bacon, onion, guacamole, and extra cheese large bowl. Once again I wait in line waiting for my bowl to be made. It's a short line and the smell makes me hungry. I hear the door open up and see Judy. Wow, what are the chances she would stop by here she's not happy to see me. Looks like she's on parking duty today. I wonder if she was looking at the company car.
"I see that you're watching us," I say
"I am not I just wanted to try their chili," Judy said quickly
"That was sarcasm Officer Hopps. Anyway if you did you find us boring we're goody two paws." I say "Their chili is great."
Judy taps her feet in annoyance I knew that would get to her. I guess she is looking for us to commit a crime. To get some payback for thinking that Nick played her like a fool. Even it was Nelson who did that for he hates Nick and is jealous of his art skill. I did see her eyes light up when I called her an officer. I suppose she doesn't get that a lot. Their chili is great and I guess she wants food that reminds her of home.
"You're funny like your husband Nick," Judy said "I see…well that's good for creative ….a…vixen like you."
"Thank you that connects us," I say "Here sure does like me walking in mud."
"I can believe that," Judy said "Still a good artist wouldn't steal from another call what he stole his own."
"Well, good thing he's not theft Nelson playing you like a fool. Just because he's a hare doesn't mean you believe him. Do believe every hare or rabbit that tells you a tale about predators?"
"Of course not, I'm not like that," Judy said "Nelson showed me his artwork and I have seen Nick's."
"Well, that's good." I say "Well he's jealous and copying Nick. Anyway, similar ideas are going to happen. It just happens. Good luck being a police officer and enjoy your chili."
I give Judy my sly smile and our meeting is like Nick's. But I'm lucky that someone didn't state I was committing a crime. Judy doesn't like that and taps her feet again. I don't think she's a bad mammal just has bad views. I know she's bigoted and she doesn't see that. Maybe meeting us she'll change her bigoted views. I pick up my mac and cheese when it's ready. It looks great like it always does. I take a seat by a window and I see her car parked by our company car. Yep, she was looking at our car. Hoping we didn't pay for a ticket or have a broken taillight. I do give her credit she didn't break it. A bad cop would do that. We pay for our tickets and make sure we're not late on parking meters. I have a good twenty minutes. I bet she was a bit happy maybe Judy thought she would catch one of us in the act of doing something bad. I know she did that with Artem. Of course, now she isn't after I had a bit of fun with her. I look over at her and she's tapping her feet. I guess she does that when she's annoyed or bored. But she's enjoying her chili so that's good. Nick and my loved ones are going to enjoy this story. Close by our company car is a blue car license plate MFS743.
Author note, a short chapter for the story's fourth anniversary, and probably doesn't matter oh well I'm still going to finish this story. It's getting close to Judy getting the Underworld Killer case. That Nick will help her out. It will happen in the next few chapters. I wanted to get Nick and Katheryn's thoughts on the Underworld killer. I also wanted Katheryn to have a similar meeting to Nick's. A bit short but she still got her point across. She's not over-snarky like Nick but still can do it.
