Chapter 3
"That's it Mr. Diaz, block the kick and then strike hard," Johnny said as he watched both Mike and Miguel spar, he wanted Miguel to get accustomed to fighting so he was putting him on spars against Mike regularly
"Mr. Takahashi," Johnny said as Mike blocked a strike from Miguel "You can now go on offense," Johnny said as Miguel's eyes winded
Mike moved forward and sent a kick to Miguel's head and the Latin teen blocked it, Miguel responded with a right strike but Mike moved out of the way and tried to kick Miguel's stomach
Miguel blocked the kick and made Mike spin around and Miguel felt like he finally had Mike on the ropes but then Mike dodged down and grabbed Miguel's arm and swept his legs sending the Latin teen over his shoulders and onto the ground, then Mike put his knee on Miguel's arm and struck Miguel's chest for the point as Miguel lost his breath in the process
"Point Mike," Johnny said as Mike stood up and offered Miguel a hand, which Miguel took and Mike helped him up
"What did he do wrong, Mr. Takahashi?" Johnny asked and Mike looked at Miguel
"You didn't follow through, you second guessed yourself and allowed me to see the strike coming," Mike said as he put his arms behind his back and Miguel rubbed his chest
"Exactly, why did you second guess yourself, Mr. Diaz?" Johnny asked as Miguel looked at him
"I just got surprised that I had a clear shot," Miguel said as Johnny sighed
"Which is exactly what Mike was giving you, and you felt for his trap," Johnny said as Mike nodded and Miguel's eyes winded "Take fighting positions," Johnny said as Mike put his guard up and started bouncing up and down
"Is this really all that necessary? I mean Kyler and the others don't know Karate," Miguel said still feeling the pain in his chest
"And I'm not here to train you to beat those assholes, I'm here to make you badass," Johnny said seriously as Miguel gulped and nodded
"Mr. Takahashi, this time, don't hold back," Johnny said as Mike's eyes winded and looked at Johnny, their Sensei nodded and Mike gave him a nod as Miguel gulped in fear again and put his guard up
"Ready, fight!" Johnny said as Mike ran forward and sent a kick intending to connect to Miguel's right side Miguel blocked it but he almost didn't see that Mike had twisted in mid-air and that his left heel was coming straight at his face
Miguel bent down at the last second as he felt Mike's foot brush the back of his head, he quickly took a step back as Mike landed on his feet and glared down at Miguel
"What are you doing Mr. Diaz, what the first lesson in the way of the fist!?" Johnny said seriously as Miguel narrowed his eyes and let out a breath, he put his guard up and then ran forward
He sent a right strike and Mike blocked it with his left hand, then Miguel sent a left strike and Mike blocked it with his right hand, then Miguel moved down and tried to seep Mike's legs but Mike just jumped to avoid the strike
But that was what Miguel wanted because as soon as Mike landed Miguel sent a kick to Mike's head as he figured that since Mike didn't have any balance his kick would connect
But then his eyes winded when he didn't connect and he looked down as Mike had done a split as soon as he came down to avoid the strike, then Mike rolled around and swept Miguel's legs from under him as Miguel landed on his back with thud and a groan, then how Mike grabbed his arms and rolled him over the next thing he knew was Mike kicking his chest again
"Point Mike!" Johnny said as Mike stood up and Miguel did as well rubbing his chest again
"What the hell was that?" Miguel asked in shock as Mike stretched his legs then looked up and smirked
"A split, nice thinking there with the kick, I had to improvise," Mike said with a smirk on his face
"Still, I missed," Miguel said and Johnny cleared his throat
"Miguel, I'm not expecting you to beat Mike as you are right now if you did that means you're a hidden genius of Karate, which we all know you aren't," Johnny said as Mike snorted and Miguel looked at Johnny confused "Mike has years of experience on this, you'll catch up eventually," Johnny explained
"Then what's the point of this?" Miguel asked in confusion
"You lack experience and confidence Miguel," Mike said taking over Johnny "The only way to get over this is to fight, in practice or real life, and we all know what happened the last time out there," Mike said as Miguel sighed
"So, in the meantime, you'll spar against me and Mike, to get you used to this, and for you to learn to use everything you learn here in all its glory," Johnny said as Miguel sighed and nodded
"I was wondering though, what's the matter with the points you keep saying?" Miguel asked in curiosity and Mike offered him a response
"Point system, in Karate matches, that's how the winner gets decided," Mike said as Miguel looked at him seriously "Anything on the chest, back or head counts as a point, shoulders and legs don't, most of the time is whoever gets to 3 first but it variates on the match style," Mike explained and Johnny nodded
"Back in my day it had a time limit, and if you were tied, it goes to sudden death, the first person to get a point," Johnny explained and Miguel nodded in understanding
"So, this match?" Miguel said and Johnny turned serious
"2-0 Mike, let's finish it," Johnny said as Mike shook his arms and went back to the center of the mat "Fighting positions," Johnny said as both Mike and Miguel put their guards up
"Ready? Fight!" Johnny said as this time Mike didn't wait any moment and rushed forward
Mike sent a kick to Miguel's stomach again but this time Miguel blocked it easily and took a step forward with a left strike, then the bell on the front rang signaling that someone had come in and Miguel's eyes glanced there missing the mule kick that Mike had sent straight to his chest
Mike connected again sending Miguel tumbling backward as Miguel groaned and rolled around in pain
"Never take your eyes off your opponent Mr. Diaz!" Johnny scolded Miguel as Mike helped Miguel back up "Winner Mike," Johnny said as Mike nodded and let Miguel support himself on his shoulders
"You good?" Mike as Miguel gasped for air and nodded
"No Yoga till five, no matter how bad you need it," Johnny said as Miguel and Mike looked at the entrance and saw Aisha standing there
"Um, I'm actually here for Karate," Aisha said as both teens took a stand on each side of Johnny "I saw your website, it said there was supposed to be a session today," Aisha said and Mike and Miguel looked at their Sensei in expectation
"I appreciate you coming in, but there are no girls in Cobra Kai," Johnny said and both students gave each other a look
"Why not?" Aisha asked and Johnny scoffed
"Same reason there aren't any women in the army. Doesn't make sense," Johnny said as Mike sighed
"Actually Sensei, there are, since 1941," Mike said and Johnny blinked at him in confusion
"Uh, Sensei, I need to show you something in the office," Miguel said as Johnny looked at him in curiosity and nodded
Both Sensei and Student walked away leaving Aisha and Mike on the dojo "Sorry about that, our Sensei is a little rough on the edges," Mike said and Aisha nodded "Is this about the video?" Mike asked and Aisha nodded again
"I'm just tired that everyone keeps making oink sounds every time I walk by," Aisha said and Mike nodded
"I'm sorry about that," Mike said as Aisha blinked
"What for? You never said mean things about me, not that I know of," Aisha said and Mike shook his head
"No, never, but I didn't stop Yas from saying them, so for that, you have my sincere apologies," Mike said bowing his head a little
"It's okay, you don't hang with them anymore do you?" Aisha asked and Mike sighed
"Just with Moon when she comes by the tea shop, but no, not anymore," Mike said with a sigh and Aisha nodded
"I won't pry," Aisha said and Mike nodded in thanks
"Come on, take off your shoes and step up onto the mat, Miguel has a way of convincing our Sensei," Mike said smiling as Aisha nodded and started taking off her shoes
"Ah I see that Mr. Takahashi has welcomed you in, good saves me time," Johnny said as he walked up to Aisha
"Okay after further review I've decided to allow female students," Johnny said as Aisha nodded "But if you wanna be in Cobra Kai, you can't act like a girl," Johnny said and both Miguel and Mike rolled their eyes in exasperation
"What do you mean? How do girls act?" Aisha asked in confusion
"Oh don't give me that," Johnny said as he narrowed his eyes at Aisha "You know all emotional, loud, complain-y, never letting you finish a sentence," Johnny explained as Aisha frowned
"Well, I know a few guys who act just…" Aisha started saying but Johnny decided to interrupt her
"QUIET!" Johnny screamed scaring Aisha and shushing her up as he started pacing around in front of her "My student tells me you've been harassed at school," Johnny said as Aisha looked at Miguel who nodded
"Yeah, mostly online," Aisha said as Johnny kept pacing around "Um, I get mean texts and e-mails sent to me, makes not wanna go," Aisha said as Johnny looked at her in curiosity
"Who sends you these messages?" Johnny asked in curiosity
"Well, they're mostly anonymous," Aisha said looking up "These kids create fake accounts, and they tell me things like I'm ugly and that I should kill myself," Aisha said as Mike listened carefully at her and saw Johnny stopping in front of her
"My god," Johnny said outraged "What a bunch of pussies!" Johnny said as he started pacing around again and Mike nodded in agreement
"Back in my day if you wanted to tease someone you did it to their face!" Johnny said a little angry "There was honor and respect to it," Johnny said as he kept pacing around "These geeks hiding behind their computers what a bunch of spineless losers," Johnny said and then looked at Aisha "You're not afraid of these losers, are you?" Johnny asked rhetorically
"No," Aisha said a little confused and Johnny looked straight at her
"You're gonna take shit from these losers are you?" Johnny asked and Aisha straightened up
"No," She said a little more confidently
"Good, because when I'm done with you, you're gonna be sending a message back," Johnny said "Only this time it's not gonna be with your keyboard, but with your fists," Johnny said as Aisha smirked showing Johnny she was ready
"Time to see what you got, Mr. Takahashi, bring out the flags," Johnny said and Mike blinked in confusion
"Flags?" Mike asked and Johnny looked back
"Second drawer from my desk, a red one and a white one," Johnny said and Mike nodded and went away "Get into a more comfortable outfit Ms. Robinson, we shall begin shortly," Johnny said as Aisha nodded and went to the bathroom with her bag in hand
~Line break~
"Okay let's see what you got Ms. Robinson," Johnny said as both she and Miguel were in front of him across one another and Mike was next to Johnny with a red flag on his left hand and a white one on his right hand
"Face me," Johnny said as Aisha and Miguel aced Johnny "Bow," Johnny commanded and they followed suit "Face each other, bow," Johnny said and both students followed his orders
"Mr. Diaz show her everything you've learned," Johnny said as Miguel's eyes winded
"Wait, wait, I don't think this is right Sensei," Miguel said a little shocked
"You don't think what's right?" Johnny asked confused and Miguel sighed
"She's a girl, I'm not gonna…" Miguel said and Johnny smirked at him
"And? I thought you said that women were equal to men," Johnny said and Miguel sighed again
"I did say that, I didn't mean it like that, I meant…" Miguel tried to explain himself
"Then show her women are equal, and give her everything you got," Johnny said and Miguel groaned but stopped complaining
"Wait, I just want to remind you this is my first day," Aisha said and Mike smirked at her
"Here at Cobra Kai we pride ourselves in throwing ourselves into the fire," Mike said smiling wickedly, and then received a smack to the back of his head
"Mr. Takahashi watch the cheek," Johnny said as Mike rubbed the back of his head "Your enemies don't care what day it is," Johnny said to Aisha "They pray on weakness, if you want to beat them you gotta conquer your fears, and jump face-first into the fire," Johnny said
"I just said that," Mike grumbled but stopped when he felt Johnny's glare on him
"Are you ready Ms. Robinson?" Johnny asked as Aisha looked at Miguel
"I guess," Aisha said with uncertainty
"Mr. Diaz!" Johnny said as Miguel looked confused and out of words and Johnny took his silence as a yes "Fight!" Johnny screamed signaling them to start fighting
But then he saw that neither of them was making the first move "Don't just stand there, fight!" Johnny said as both teens put their guards up
"I'm sorry," Miguel said as he moved forward and kicked Aisha in the stomach sending her back tumbling down
"Point, Diaz," Mike said raising the red flag and looking at the downed Aisha
"Oh my God! Aisha, are you OK?" Miguel asked in concern as Aisha looked up with anger in her eyes "I'm sorry, come on," Miguel said trying to help her up but Aisha rushed forward and tackled Miguel to the ground then she jumped and landed on top of Miguel, right in his stomach, knee first
"Point, Robinson," Mike said raising the white flag and trying hard to hold back his chuckle
Miguel wheezed and groaned holding his stomach as Aisha stood up and put herself in front of Johnny who was nodding proudly "Girls a natural Cobra," Johnny said as Aisha smiled proudly
Then Johnny and Mike heard shouting coming from outside and both looked at each other "All right. Students wait here, Takahashi you're in charge," Johnny said walking out of the Dojo
Aisha helped Miguel stand up as Mike put the flags down "You let your guard down again Miguel," Mike said as Miguel groaned and nodded, Mike sighed and patted Miguel's back "Take five, catch your breath again, Ms. Robinson follow me," Mike said as Aisha nodded
Mike led her in front of a punching dummy as he moved it forward a little so it wouldn't be near the window
"This is Robert, don't ask," Mike said as Aisha snorted "I'm gonna teach you how to strike, the cobra strike to be precise, Sensei Lawrence will teach you about our creed later, but for now I'll show you the technique," Mike said and Aisha nodded in understanding
"Plant your feet, bend your needs, your dominant foot stays back and the other forward, hands close to your chest for protection, dominant one close and the other one a little farther, got it?" Mike said and Aisha nodded
"Karate is all about footwork, you want to be sturdy and quick, keep yourself ready and lose," Mike said as he started bouncing a little "Then we have the Cobra Strike, which consists of two parts, the lunge," Mike said as he moved closer to the dummy
"This requires the whole use of the body, you're not striking only with your fist but your whole body, okay?" Mike said as Aisha nodded "And the bite," Mike said connecting his fist to the dummy
"Which is everything that happens after you make contact," Mike said looking at Aisha who nodded "You don't stop here where knuckle hits the bone, you follow through as if the person you really want to hit is standing behind this shithead," Mike said as Aisha nodded
Then Mike went back to his starting position and took a deep breath, then without a sound he lounged forward and hit the dummy in the nose "See how I came back to my stance?" Mike said as Aisha noticed how quickly Mike went back to his guard
"Yes," Aisha said nodding her head
"You don't want to over-extent, you hit hard," Mike said hitting the dummy in slow-mo "Then you come back because in most cases, the person you just hit didn't fall down and it's ready to fight back, so when they come back, you're already in your stance poised to strike again, got it?" Mike said and Aisha nodded as they heard the bell ring
"So, strike here, you bloodied their nose," Mike said striking at the dummy's nose "Stike here you break their teeth, strike here," Mike said striking at the neck with an open hand "You can severely injure their trachea, of course that's on extreme cases," Mike said as Aisha nodded
"Ready?" Mike said as Aisha nodded and took Mike's place
Johnny had entered the Dojo a little mad about the double rent discussion but that angriness disappeared when he saw Mike instruct Aisha with the same advice he had used on Miguel
He decided to leave them be for a while and focus on Miguel's footwork and then he would check on them later
"Widen your stance," Mike said kicking Aisha's foot back "Bend your knees, that's it good," Mike said as Aisha put her hands up "Right-handed right?" Mike asked and Aisha nodded
"Thumb out, you keep in and it's going to break, tighten your fists," Mike said as he moved Aisha's fist close to her chest and extended her other one "Good, now show me the lounge," Mike said as Aisha moved forward but Mike kicked her softly in her right leg
"I said lounge not move forward, don't take a step, jump, again," Mike said as Aisha sighed and nodded as she took her stance again
She tried to do it but again Mike kicked her right leg softly when she moved it forward "Again," Mike said as Aisha grumbled and tried again
It took about five more tries before Aisah got it right as she moved her left foot forward first, and then she got up close to the dummy "Good now strike," Mike said as Aisha with all her frustration gave a sloppy strike to the dummy
Mike sighed and put his hands on his belt, he rubbed his face and looked back at Aisha "Okay take a step back, still in your stance," Mike said as Aisha nodded
"Why are you here Aisha?" Mike asked as Aisha blinked in confusion
"What?" Aisha asked in confusion
"Simple question, why are you here? Because if that punch is your way of telling me you're sick of your bullies, then I'd say you're lying, so why are you here?" Mike said as Aisha frowned
"I'm here because I'm pissed off," Aisha said and Mike snorted
"Really? It doesn't look like it, guess you'll have to keep on being that girl from the video, what was it? Pig something?" Mike said and Aisha grumbled
"Shut up," Aisha said and Mike narrowed his eyes at her
"Don't tell me to shut up, show me," Mike said and Aisha tighten her fist "Use that anger and punch the dummy like fucking you mean it!" Mike said as Aisha screamed and lounged forward striking the dummy right in the nose and getting back in position
"Better," Mike said as Aisah looked shocked at what she did and then looked back at Mike proudly
"Again, this time take less time to get back into your stance," Mike said and then he felt a hand on his shoulder
"Good job Takahashi," Johnny said as Mike nodded and stepped to the right "How do you feel Ms. Robinson?" Johnny asked as Aisha looked at her fists
"Great, I feel powerful," Aisha said and Johnny nodded
"You took all that emotion, put it in your fists, and strike first and strike hard, that's the way of the fist," Johnny said as Aisha nodded in understanding
"A way of showing that you won't take anyone's shit anymore and you will fight back, engrave those words in you, understood Ms. Robinson?" Johnny said and Aisha nodded
"Mr. Diaz, please oversee Ms. Robinson's training, Mr. Takahashi, please join me in my office," Johnny said as Mike nodded and followed Johnny into his office
"Close the door," Johnny said as Mike nodded and closed the door "Your Uncle stopped by last week, we had a chat," Johnny said as Mike's eyes winded
"Oh, um, how did that go?" Mike said as Johnny took a seat and chuckled at Mike's nervousness
"Well enough, I like your uncle, I lost count of how many jokes he made while we talked," Johnny said as Mike sighed and resisted the urge to pinch his nose "But he also gave me this," Johnny said taking a headband out of his drawer
Johnny put it on his desk for Mike to see, it was a black headband like Johnny's with the difference that this headband had the Kanji symbol of fire in the middle
"He said that since I'm your Sensei, it was my job to give it to you when I deemed you ready," Johnny said and Mike's eyes winded "Take it, it's yours," Johnny said as Mike slowly took the headband and then started putting it on his forehead
"Sensei I don't know what to say," Mike said and Johnny smiled at him
"You've earned it kiddo, wear it proudly," Johnny said and Mike nodded feeling ecstatic then he heard a sigh coming from his Sensei and he got concerned
"Everything alright Sensei?" Mike asked and Johnny looked up and blinked
"What? Oh yeah, everything is fine," Johnny said as he looked down but then Mike cleared his throat and Johnny looked up noticing how Mike didn't believe him
"Landlord double the rent of this place," Johnny said and Mike's eyes winded
"You're kidding right?" Mike said and Johnny shook his head "Without any warning?" Mike asked and Johnny nodded
"That can't be legal, can it?" Mike asked and Johnny shrugged his shoulders and sighed
"What are you going to do Sensei?" Mike asked and Johnny grumbled and pinched his nose
"I don't know, sell some of my shit," Johnny said and Mike narrowed his eyes in deep thought
"I'll cover half of it, our deal still stands," Mike said as Johnny's eyes winded
"No kid, I can't ask you to do that, you'll be paying full rent," Johnny said and Mike snorted and smiled at Johnny
"Don't worry I want to, sides, it's only till you get some students, and by the looks of it," Mike said as he looked to where Miguel and Aisha were "You're on the right track, I won't let this place disappear," Mike said and Johnny sighed and then smiled at Mike
"You really are a lifesaver, Mike," Johnny said as Mike nodded with a smile still present on his face
~Line break~
"I'm telling you, I've learned all these moves and kicks, I feel badass," Miguel said as he was waiting in line for his food alongside Demetri and Eli "Is there any way I can convince you two to join?" Miguel asked as Eli looked like he wanted to say yes but Dimitri beat him to it
"Look like I told you, as much as I like this new bravado of yours, we would prefer not to get our asses kicked," Demetri said as Miguel sighed but nodded in understanding
"Don't know, the ability to kick ass back seems worth it for me," The trio heard someone say behind them and they turned scared shitless as they saw Mike standing there with a bored expression
"Jesus, Mike how the hell do you keep doing that!?" Miguel asked out of breath and holding his chest
"It's my superpower," Mike said cheekily as he looked at Demetri and Eli "So these are the guys you keep talking about huh?" Mike said in curiosity
"Ah yeah, these are Demetri and Eli, guys this is Mike, a fellow Cobra Kai student," Miguel said as Mike shook Demetri's hand and then turned to Eli
"Pleasure," Mike said shaking Eli's hand "So, is that why you don't want to join Cobra Kai?" Mike asked looking at Eli
"Like I said, we prefer not to get kicked in the face," Demetri said and Mike gave him a side glance
"I mean no disrespect, but I wasn't asking you," Mike said as he looked at Eli again "So, Eli, why don't you want to join?" Mike asked in curiosity
Eli tried to find the words but he couldn't and just looked down Mike sighed "I understand, look the only way this stops is if you put a stop to it," Mike said as Eli looked up at him
"Take back control of your scar Eli, that's the only way," Mike said patting Eli's arm as the kid with the scar on his lip nodded shyly in understanding
Demetri wanted to say something but then there was a commotion in the middle of the cafeteria that gained the attention of the four teens there
"Hey guys, you know that billboard with that big ass dick on it?" Kyler said as they saw he was making fun of Sam "I guess Sam takes after her dad," Kyler said and Mike saw Miguel tightening his fists
"There he goes again, someone should shut him up don't you think?" Mike asked behind Miguel as the Latin teen huffed in anger "It's up to you Miguel," Mike said as Miguel grumbled and walked forward
"Hey, Kyler!" Miguel said as Mike took his phone and started recording
"Hold this for me will ya," Mike said giving Eli his phone as the teen with the scar nodded and kept recording
"Why don't you shut the hell up and stop being such an asshole?" Miguel asked sarcastically as he put himself in front of Kyler
"Want another beatdown, Rhea?" Kyler asked shoving Miguel back "I'm ready for your lame-ass Karate this time," Kyler said pushing Miguel harder than before
"It's not lame-ass Karate," Miguel said as Kyler threw a right hook but Miguel caught his arm "It's Cobra Kai," Miguel said punching Kyler in the nose
Mike smirked, finally, the little Miguel was fighting back, he walked forward as he saw Kyler manhandling Miguel around and putting him in a chokehold
One Miguel got out easily by hitting Kyler's stomach with his elbow, he twisted Kyler's arm and then punched his face as Kyler stumbled forward Miguel kicked his back sending him face-first into a table
Miguel had his guard up and he felt another attack coming and turned around, he was preparing for a leg sweep but stopped when he saw Mike grabbing Brook's arm
"Mind if I join in the fun?" Mike asked cheekily as he lifted Brook's arm upward, then he twisted around sending a mule kick to Brook's stomach and sending him tumbling back
"Each gets two? Sounds fair?" Miguel asked as he saw Kyler standing up and a tall man joining Kyler
"Sure thing," Mike said as Brook stood up and another teen joined his side, Mike looked at their posture and smirked as he ran forward
The other kid met him in the middle sending him a left hook but Mike sidestepped and sent a knee that connected to the teen, then with his free leg he sent an axe kick to the back of the teen's head that brought him down to the floor and knocked him out cold
Then Brook tried to tackle him but Mike spun out of the way as Brokk almost crashed into the wall, Brook turned around and saw Mike with his hands down and glaring at him
"So, the Scarface shows his real colors, perfect, I've been dying to put you in your place," Brook said and Mike snorted
"Funny, seems we think alike," Mike said with a wide smirk on his face "But trust me dum dum, it won't be that long of a fight," Mike said as Brook grumbled and took a step forward but then his eyes widened as he looked down and saw Mike's right heel pushing into his stomach
Brook's back collided with the wall and the last thing he remembered of that day was Mike going into a form of martial arts, his left hand was on his forehead with his palm facing up and his left leg in front of him
His right hand was on his waist in a tight fist, Brook was standing up as he had bent forward rubbing his stomach in pain, but as soon as he stood up Mike moved his right leg forward, and as the movement carried him forward so did his fist, and Mike's right fist connected to Brook's face on the right side with such force that all his head moved around, and with that Broom fell into unconsciousness
Mike looked down making sure neither Brook nor the other teen would get up, he looked back and saw Miguel standing on top of a table as people cheered at him
Some people cheered at Mike too, but Miguel had taken center stage and Mike was a side character now, which gave him the perfect opportunity to blend with the crowd and avoid the principal
~Line break~
"So how does this work?" Johnny asked in confusion as he, Miguel, and Mike were sitting at a table at Mike's uncle's restaurant with a small grill in the middle of them
"We just wait for the grill to turn on with the perfect heat, then we cook our meat," Mike said passing his hand over to the grill
"This doesn't make sense, why can't we order some wings or some burgers?" Johnny asked as Mike chuckled
"Because this is real food, not the garbage you're used to eating," Mike said with a cheek as Johnny grumbled
"Besides we're here to celebrate Miguel's coming of age," Mike said putting a hand on Miguel's shoulder and shaking him around
"Screw you," Miguel said chuckling and Mike started putting some pieces of meat on the grill
"So, a Coors for the gentleman," Mike's uncle said as he brought Johnny a bottle of beer that instantly improved Johnny's mood
"And two victory jasmine teas for the Karate students here," Tadano said as Mike and Miguel nodded in thanks
"Sir, you really didn't need to close off the restaurant," Miguel said as Mike's Uncle took a seat next to Johnny
"Nonsense, an accomplishment like this requires a proper celebration," Tadano said as Johnny nodded in agreement
"Mr. Tadano is right, you have accomplished something great Miguel, be proud of it," Johnny said as Mike grabbed a piece of meat and put it on Miguel's plate
"Come on Hero, take the first bite," Mike said cheekily as Miguel looked down in curiosity, he grabbed a pair of chopsticks and with them grabbed the meat and started eating it
"Oh wow," Miguel said as his eyes winded in surprise
"Good isn't it?" Mike said cheekily as Miguel nodded as he helped Mike put more pieces of meat on the grill
"Thank you, sir," Johnny said to Tadano as the old man nodded his head
"No need sensei, I'm glad to welcome any friends of my nephew here," Tadano said as both adults looked at the teens as if they were joking with one another "Is me who should be thanking you Sensei," Tadano said as Johnny blinked in confusion
"What makes you say that?" Johnny asked confused and Mike's uncle gave him a small smile
"My nephew was closing off, your dojo gave him a way to open up," Tadano said as Johnny felt a little proud of that statement "Teaching is very fulfilling don't you think?" Tadano said as Johnny looked at the two kids in front of him
"Yeah, it is," Johnny said and then he grabbed his can of Coors "Hey you brats, come on let's make a toast," Johnny said as both teens looked at him and raised their cups
"To the future of our Dojo," Johnny said raising his can as both students put their cups forward
"Cobra Kai Never Dies," The teens said Miguel with more vigor than Mike but with the same emotion nonetheless
