I didn't really address this in the first chapter, so I'm gonna address it briefly now. If you guys are wondering why I suddenly started writing a Chaotic story, it's because it was one of my favourite childhood shows when I was younger. I would've played the card and/or online game, but I was a broke kid back in the day. Remembering the good old TV shows made me re-watch them, including Chaotic. Watching each episode gave me a rough but interesting idea for a fanfic, resulting in the early product you're reading right now. Not all of it at the moment, but the tip of it. Also, after this chapter, I'm going to step back and refocus on my first fanfic until the demand for more chapters on this story warrants a continuation. I say this not because I care about numbers or stats, but rather it takes me a long time to write a single chapter because I want everything to move along smoothly. I take pride in my storytelling and I'm very picky with what I put out. I don't want to half-ass a story when I care about the plot so much. At the same time, I also don't want to abandon my other story that I worked for YEARS to create. Long story short, just shoot a much of reviews, follows, favorites, etc. about wanting more chapters, and I'll see to it that you get your wish granted.
Anyway, that's it for my author's note.
Okay, on with the chapter!
"I thought you said he was on his way. I don't see him anywhere…" Little Nevaeh asserted, searching the far distance from the near top of her guardian's castle.
"He's still travelling in the far distance by foot. It might take a while for us to see him in view…" Tangath Toborn remarked serenely, briefing eyeing the young girl.
"He shouldn't take this long. Maxxor is super-fast at running." She relished proudly with sparkling eyes.
Tangath Toborn said nothing in response as he observed the eighteen-solon-old (nine-year-old) child waiting excitedly for her adoptive father and leader of Kiru to return home. It was fascinating to watch the young girl mature rapidly over the years. From a mere newborn to a child with wavy, shoulder-length, raven hair, bright indigo eyes, and warm olive skin complexion.
What was more fascinating was being a part of her growth since she was an infant.
A couple of days after the Underworld's attack, Intress let him in on the details. She revealed to him that Maxxor found a newborn human all alone with the exception of Zalvar in the deserted part of the city. It was believed that Chaor ordered his people to enter the city to find and abduct the girl—because of her potential in great abilities and power—and somewhere along the lines, they were caught in the act which led to multiple fights breaking out. After saving the kid from her attempted kidnapper, they brought her into Maxxor's castle and examined her. Unbeknownst to her, Bodal, and Najarin, he secretly had the intention in raising this child, though this hadn't been exactly proven. Their leader insisted it was to make sure the kid doesn't get in the wrong hands and having their enemies take advantage of her impressionability and power.
The lion warrior understood that much, excluding the part where he suggested that Nevaeh should be kept alongside him in his castle. For as long as he's known Maxxor, Tangath knew that besides being a strong, respectable leader, he was a stern, private person who always kept to himself. The ruler was always for the people all the while keeping his personal feelings and thoughts to himself. Even with his oldest, closest friends, he had the tendency to keep everyone at arm's length. Because of this, when Intress told him that Maxxor was going to be the girl's primary guardian, he was taken aback. If not, the disclosure threw him off. It wasn't like the Overworld leader held a grudge against humans in general; he just didn't think much of them besides as being weaklings, if anything.
Tangath never pressed this matter to him out of respect, but he didn't stop this intuition until he was formally introduced to Nevaeh. To be frank, he didn't think too much of her other than the fact that she was just a baby. He had a hard time connecting with the child. It wasn't until she started her training as a kid when they had their first proper interaction. Being the leader of a tribe and city was time-consuming, so Maxxor never had the time to coach her in honing her abilities. Intress was usually busy with missions and guard duty so she was rarely available, and Najarin was never around to help in the first place. Tangath Toborn was her prime trainer and caregiver when Maxxor and Intress were out on their duties.
If asked, he would admit that he wasn't too keen in being the kid's babysitter simply because it was very much beneath him. But declining Maxxor's request wasn't an option; he had to accept the task.
Her training started a while after she showed symptoms of no control over her powers, like accidentally starting fires to strong gusts of wind caused by a simple sneeze.
On the first day of training, he warned Nevaeh that he wouldn't go easy on the girl, seeing that she was raised by a mighty, powerful leader like Maxxor. It was the first time he saw such determination and fierceness in the eyes of someone so young and small. Every few weeks, each session grew longer and harder, making sure that each one pushed past her limit. Tangath couldn't recall one time where he didn't carry the unconscious child home and placed her in her bed.
Regardless, the girl never complained once about anything. No matter how beaten, bruised, exhausted, depleted she got, she always found the smallest bit of courage from whatever source available to fight back. There were times where she was holding on to the bit of consciousness she had left just to prove her unshaken will to never fall before her opponent.
Witnessing her ferocious dedication to be strong and respected by her allies was captivating to Tangath. She succeeded in earning his respect and because of this, he started to enjoy taking Nevaeh out to train and mentor her through her thorough sessions. Additionally, she was good company and she seemed to feel the same way every time he dropped by the castle to pick her up; she gladly left with him while holding onto his sharply-clawed hand.
Nevaeh has hinted that she saw him more like an older brother than just a mentor. Tangath felt indifferent by her comment, mostly because he already viewed her more than just an apprentice. In his defense, Tangath Toborn belonged to a species of lions and who viewed their cubs as precious. As far as he was concerned, it should be no surprise that he inherited a protective fondness for the girl.
Like a full-bred lion, Tangath embraced Nevaeh as his own "cub".
"We should head down to floor level." He suggested nonchalantly, looking ahead. "You want to be the first one to greet him, correct?"
"Duh, of course, I do. But I also want to be the first one to spot him." She replied determinedly, squinting her eyes while hovering her hand above them.
Tangath exhaled ponderously, watching the little girl scanning the landscape ahead of her. Nevaeh admired her guardian was imposing to say the least; she basically praised the ground Maxxor walked on. However, he couldn't necessarily blame her since almost every OverWorlder praised and admired their respected leader. On top of that, he's basically the kid's father and also her hero, as she claimed numerous times. Tangath didn't mind it, except in occasions where her focus was on Maxxor and not on her lessons.
Her strong admiration for her guardian was endearing overall, though a bit of an inconvenience.
"I see him! I see him!" Nevaeh chirped excitedly, pulling on her caregiver's arm. "Look, Tangath! There he is!"
Said warrior pulled away from his thoughts and focused his attention in the vast view in front of him. Sure enough, there was Overworld leader, rushing at top speed towards his city. Along with him were Intress and Frafdo, which was a bit of a surprise; the flyer only visited Kiru when he was needed for a mission.
"C'mon, let's go!" Nevaeh beamed eagerly, sprinting away from the window and towards the double doors.
Hearing the girl's footsteps snapped the lion-like warrior out of his curiosity, but by this time she was already out of the room.
"The kid's something else…" He commented tepidly, following her trail at a steady pace.
It was sort of ironic that this kid idolized and highly respected Maxxor, yet that same idol doesn't give her that type of attention. It was nothing personal; Maxxor was simply too busy. Tangath was certain that he tried to make time for the girl, but with everything going on in Perim, it just couldn't be helped. Surprisingly enough, Nevaeh understood this completely. She may be young, but her intellect and insight far exceeded her age. She was aware that her guardian was heavily engaged in his work, his city, and his tribe, he simply didn't have time for her.
Being the bright kid, she never took it upon herself to hold any resentment for Maxxor. If anything, this made her respect him even more.
Tangath Toborn stopped at the end of the hallway where a long flight of stairs greeted him. From where he stood, he could see Nevaeh rushing down the steps with ease.
Since the girl barely saw Maxxor, she made sure to grab any chance she could get to see him. Even if it was only for a moment.
Jumping off of the fifth last step, the young girl turned around and grinned contently.
"C'mon, slowpoke! What are you waiting for!?" She called teasingly, cupping her mouth.
"No need to rush." Tangath replied hoarsely, ambling down the stairs.
Letting out a winsome giggle, she continued dashing through the main grand entrance hall. The lion-like OverWorlder casually watched Nevaeh running towards the large, main entrance doors as he was closing in on the last few steps of stairs. He smirked amusedly when the kid greeted the guards beside the doorframe with a bright smile, to which they responded with nods of acknowledgement.
Nevaeh made a quick stop in front of the door and eagerly grabbed the vintage handle. She tried pushing then pulling with all her might, but the twin doors refused to budge.
'It seems she's still a bit drained from her morning training…' Tangath analyzed thoughtfully, completely his share of stairs.
As more attempts were passed up, frustration started to surface. It resorted her to kick the door for ignoring her demands. It wasn't long until exhaustion reached her, and she finally stopped abusing the door, but that didn't stop her from frowning challengingly with folded arms.
"Allow me, milady." One of the guards offered graciously, lowering his weapon to open the rigid door.
With Nevaeh being Maxxor's technical daughter, that earned her a higher social status in Kiru. Nevaeh herself didn't seem to mind the treatment, though she was always very humble and respectful to those who served her, always throwing them her bright, infectious smile. The guards never formally responded to any of her gestures, though it was never left unnoticed and unappreciated by them. Alongside guarding the castle and historic/prohibited buildings, his guards were also responsible for Nevaeh's safety. For the most part, Tangath Toborn wasn't always around to watch over the child because he himself had duties too, but he was no fool to leave her in the tremendous, tall castle alone. In cases where he must take off, he made sure to order more guards in and outside the castle as a precaution for the kid's sake. It had been years since the UnderWorld has tried to capture the young girl and they haven't made move since, but in a place like Perim, it was better to be safe than sorry.
Moreover, rallying up more guards would give Tangath and Maxxor peace of mind that their young one was safe.
Their orders were simple: protect Nevaeh at all costs, and make sure she doesn't leave the castle without capable company. However, seeing that she was making a hurry to exit the castle so suddenly hinted to the guards that Maxxor had arrived and she was very much eager to see him. They saw no reason to halt her intentions, especially with the reassurance of Tangath Toborn tailing behind her.
"Thank you!" She perked up gladly.
The guard nodded and patiently held the door open as Nevaeh continued her race towards Maxxor. Standing on the top of another long flight of stairs, Nevaeh skidded to a stop to look at the condensed view of the city. Her radiant purple eyes widened delightedly at the sight of her beloved guardian, chatting with Intress and Frafdo. Without second thought, she rushed down the flight of stairs by hopping on every few steps. Meanwhile, Tangath Toborn had just stepped out of the castle and approached the lengthy flight of stairs. He narrowed his eyes at the kid hopping, skipping, and jumping down the stairs without a care in the world.
Intress was the first out of the trio to notice Nevaeh pouncing down the long set of steps. The sight of joy on the girl's face forced the tigress's lips to curve upwards. This caught the attention of Frafdo and even Maxxor.
"What's wrong?" Frafdo asked warily.
Intress disregarded his question and instead, she pointed at Nevaeh who was nearing them. Frafdo curiously followed where her clawed finger was pointing at until his eyes were also introduced to the child with springs on her feet.
"Looks like someone is excited to see you…" She commented wittily at the OverWorld ruler.
Maxxor didn't even have to think to know that the tigress was referring to him being the source of the girl's excitement. Nevaeh just never ceased to amaze him with her growth in strength and personality. He honestly found it amusing that she made sure that she was indeed the first person to welcome him home. Her dedication was beyond belief; she had been doing this ever since time she could walk. More importantly, it was assuring to know that she respected and adored him as a father, in spite of him never having time for her. He knew the moment he took her in that he wasn't going to have the time to be a consistent guardian in her life with the baskets full of duties to accomplish. The least he could do was to let her roam around his guarded castle as she pleased and go anywhere in the city with a trusted OverWorlder.
Of course, that shouldn't excuse him for his constant absences.
Nevaeh assured him that his priorities as a leader shouldn't be deterred nor changed for her sake. She also seemed to be content with being accompanied by Tangath Toborn, so she wasn't alone when he was out on his missions.
"She's always been excited since she's learned how to talk." Maxxor deadpanned, watching the kid deeply.
"She's a jumper, that one." Frafdo commented blithely. "Sort of reminds me of you, Maxxor."
Said ruler grunted divertingly at his statement as he watched Nevaeh made one last jump. Using all the energy her legs could handle, she sprung from the steps and flew up higher than her previous jumps. The three of them watched in astonishment as she soared beyond their expectations. On top of that, she performed a perfect front flip with incredible ease. Obtaining such acro-ability and agility at her age as a human was unbelievable. It was clear to them that she had definitely worked long and hard to achieve her newfound skills.
They all intently eyed her as gravity brought her down to their level, but not without gracing the trio with a perfect landing. Lifting herself off of the dirt, she threw them a charming smile; she was evidently impressed with her mini performance during her journey down the castle steps. She also seemed to enjoy the thrill of feeling the wind in her face and her feet off of the flat surface.
"Finally, I made it…" Nevaeh huffed in accomplishment, dusting herself off. "… and stuck the landing, too.'
Once she somewhat cleaned herself, she stepped closer to her guardian. Maxxor cocked an eyebrow as Nevaeh halted right before him, gazing up at him innocently with a straight posture and face. Before he let the anticipation to cloud his mind, the child bowed her head reverently. On the outside, the ruler's face remained stoic while he did a double-take on the inside. He expected the usual cheery, upbeat, excited hello from the girl, not a bow. And it wasn't just a fake bow; it was a genuine bow like the ones heroes receive as a thank you when they saved the day.
Once again, the kid never ceased to amaze him and his colleagues.
Neveah lifted her head from her gracious bow and gave him her usual, bright grin.
"Welcome home, Maxxor!" She greeted radiantly.
Said OverWorlder remained quiet, thoroughly observing the girl like he was questioning if he was standing in front of the same kid he last saw a week ago. Meanwhile, Nevaeh stood there patiently, waiting for her guardian to give his response.
He eventually did, but not a verbal response because he was still shaken. He just resorted to stroking the kid's head, ruffling her wavy locks. Nevaeh giggled cheerfully at her guardian's touch, not minding her hair being disorganized.
"That was quite the performance, Nevaeh." Intress commented gratifyingly as Maxxor retracted his large hand.
Said girl took a brief moment to fix her rumpled hair. She wanted to look fairly presentable in spite of the dirt and bruises she sustained from morning training.
"Well, hard work pays off, right?" She replied proudly, giving off a gleam of confidence. "Besides, it doesn't hurt anyone if I showed off just a little bit."
"No, it doesn't." The tigress chuckled in agreement.
Nevaeh gave one last grin to Intress before turning her attention over towards the least familiar character in the group. Frafdo was no stranger to the girl, however she rarely saw him since he doesn't frequent Kiru City. The only crucial detail she knew about OverWorlder was that he was supposedly going to be her side-mentor once she's completely mastered her offense/defense ability under Tangath Toborn's teachings.
If that were the case, it would take a while for Nevaeh to adjust since she's been with Tangath ever since she was a toddler.
"Frafdo, right? Aren't you the one who's going to teach me how to fly?" She queried innocently, raising an eyebrow.
"That depends. Have you completed your offense training?" Frafdo countered challengingly.
Accepting his challenging demeanor, Nevaeh raised her chin up assertively while counter his strong gaze with her own.
"Well, I—"
"Not so fast, kid." A gruff voice intervened promptly behind the child.
A quick glance over her shoulder and Nevaeh's eyes were greeted by the sight of her mentor eyeing her in a scolding matter.
"Oh, now you decide to catch up to us." The girl deadpanned dryly.
"You were implying that you've learned everything you needed to know from me." Tangath commented accusingly.
"You don't know that. You didn't even let me finish." Nevaeh pouted defensively.
"I didn't need to. I know what you were trying to do." Tangath replied tonelessly.
"What's the big deal, anyway? I just want to control my flying so that I won't hit the floor." Nevaeh shrugged nonchalantly.
The kid's got a point. The day they discovered that Nevaeh had the ability to fly was when she was trying to reach for a book to read in Maxxor's study. He was out on duty at the time and no one was in the castle except her and guards who were doing their rounds in and outside of the place. Unbeknownst to her, she was levitating off of the floor until she finally got the book in her hands. Just as quick as the rush of excitement hit her, she lost her balance and it mere seconds, she landed harshly on the hard tiles. The guards heard a yelp from the study and quickly made their way towards the room, only to see the girl rubbing her head and letting out a painful groan. Her injuries weren't serious; only suffering a minor concussion and a fractured wrist.
"Controlling your flying isn't a priority right now. You haven't completely mastered your powers, Nevaeh." Intress justified evenly. "Our top priority is making sure you're strong enough so that in worst case scenarios, you can fend for yourself."
"It's not like we wake up to the sounds of explosions. Nothing ever happens in Kiru, anyway." Nevaeh argued obstinately, dusting more dirt off of her clothes.
Maxxor's lips made a thin line on her last comment. Surely, anyone would think that way if they rarely left the city. For safety measures, Nevaeh was forbidden to leave the city. Being the obedient child, she respected her guardian's wishes even though he was aware that she felt bounded and bored in secret. This led to her belief that Kiru and most of Perim were at a state of peace with all of the tribes keeping to themselves. That couldn't be further from the truth, but he wasn't going to break the news to the kid; it was unnecessary to crush her innocent fantasy at such a young age.
With the exceptions of rare visits to Najarin's castle for Mugic training, Nevaeh has never been outside of the city. Even when she's travelling to Lake Ken-I-Po, she goes in secret while being concealed.
"What matters is keeping you away from trouble. Just be patience, and you'll achieve your goals in no time." Intress assured warmly, placing a clawed hand on the girl's shoulder. "Remember, it's better to be safe than sorry…"
"Yeah, I know that." Nevaeh replied endearingly, linking her hands behind her back.
The tigress smiled affectionately at the girl by which earned her a cute grin.
"Well, at least the girl is taking her training seriously." Frafdo remarked casually.
"What do you mean?" Nevaeh asked, glancing at the flyer.
"He's talking about your facial injuries." Maxxor noted equably.
Blinking puzzlingly, the young girl touched her cheek tenderly then retracted it from her face. Sure enough, faint blotches of blood stained her small palm. This didn't come as a shock to Nevaeh; she sustained worse injuries before.
"You're taking this mentoring job quite seriously, Tangath." Frafdo smirked facetiously. "Careful, or else you'll really hurt the kid."
Tangath Toborn grunted dismissively at the beak-faced OverWorlder.
"It's okay, I like his way of mentoring me." Nevaeh chimed in, earning both OverWorlders' attention. "Sure, he's really tough and really strict, but if he wasn't, I won't be able to reach my full potential. Plus, him putting in the effort to train me like that shows that he wants me to be the best that I can be."
Frafdo nodded satisfyingly, surprisingly impressed with the kid's level of insight. Seeing his astonished reaction forced a complacent smirk on the lion warrior's face.
"Well said, kid." He commended in a gruff.
Nevaeh grinned up at her mentor, showing off her bright whites.
"Have you already done your session with Najarin?" Intress asked curiously.
Nevaeh shook her head. "He contacted Tangath, saying that he had a prior commitment…"
"That's strange…" The tigress mused.
"Not really. I was with him early this week; seems like he can only train me once a week. I don't mind it too much." The girl allayed stolidly.
"Najarin is a busy individual; he probably has important matters to attend to. You're quite lucky to have one session per week…" Maxxor vindicated monotonously.
"O-Of course, Maxxor." Nevaeh stammered with a firm nod, straightening her posture.
"Well, I don't know about you guys, but my current energy isn't up to par with the long period of standing." The orange cat-woman sighed tiredly, sauntering her way towards the long path of stairs.
The tigress halted her steps and curiously glancing over her shoulder at her commander and friend. "Are you coming, Maxxor?"
"Actually, there's more that needs to be discussed." Tangath abruptly informed, earning suspicious stares. "This won't take long. You go in with Nevaeh and we'll meet you soon…"
His intentions were never to leave Intress out of important matters. It was Nevaeh who he didn't want around while discussing something that concerned the kid. He didn't want her to worry nor think she was depicted as something negative. Insinuating this with a hinting gaze, Intress nodded knowingly then turned her cat eyes on to child.
"Let's go inside, Nevaeh. You must be hungry from your morning session…" She proffered maternally, beckoning the girl to go ahead of her.
"Okay!" Nevaeh chirped, racing up the castle stairs.
"I'll see you inside." Intress bid expectedly to Maxxor.
Maxxor confirmed with a nod, letting his friend excuse herself. After a moment of watching the two hiking up to the main entrance, the OverWorld commander laid his eyes at his strategist.
"Now, what is it that you want to tell me, Tangath?" He questioned, maintaining a relaxed composure.
"Nevaeh." Said warrior answered firmly.
After one blink, Maxxor's eyes narrowed inquisitively at his tone while Frafdo raised a feathered brow.
"What about her?" The flyer inquired aloofly, sounding a bit disinterested with the topic.
With the level of concern he held, Tangath Toborn couldn't care less what the birdbrain thought since it wasn't really his business nor he was in a position to really judge. Frankly, it only mattered that Maxxor was made aware of what he was about to tell him. Frafdo was welcomed to listen, but with every unnecessary comment he made, Tangath was going to pretend he didn't hear it.
"This morning, during our usual training session… I instructed her to attack me with everything she's got, incorporating the techniques she's learned so far."
"And?" Maxxor prompted.
"She proceeded to attack me head-on before I finished speaking…" His advisor disclosed with suspicion, narrowing his eyes at the recollection.
Maxxor didn't think much of it except for being a little surprised. Nevaeh was too respectful and mannerly to ever interrupt anyone, especially someone with higher authority.
"What of it? She probably did that to throw you off and gain the upper hand." Frafdo presumed indifferently.
"Naturally, I thought that was the case… until I saw the look in her eyes…" Tangath stated ominously as his gaze grew serious. "… I could've sworn she looked sinisterly evil for a moment…"
Maxxor silently assimilated, narrowing his eyes in thought. He couldn't say that he was shocked; he prepared himself to see or hear the worse about the girl as the years went by. He knew that as a leader, he was supposed to accept the responses or even the consequences for the decisions chosen by him.
Then again, that didn't mean he wasn't a little perturbed by the insinuation.
"Are you sure you're not hallucinating, Tangath. That can happen living as a fighting warrior." Frafdo commented dubiously.
"On top of that, her attacks were more aggressive than usual. Plus, her fighting technique is deviating from her norm." Tangath maintained sternly, dismissing Frafdo's comment.
Maxxor responded with a stressful sigh. He already had so much on his plate. Having to deal with this was probably the last thing he needed after his long mission.
"How long has this been happening?" He asked reservedly.
"Her aggressive fighting has been happening for a little while, but her aura switch is new to me." His strategist noted, sounding a bit unsettled by his observations.
Maxxor pursed his lips pensively, coming up with possible solutions. Although, each solution he proposed to himself, he immediately shot down. With his strong adoration for Nevaeh, he simply couldn't bring the intention to do anything to jeopardize her growth and relationship with the OverWorlders. She very much saw them as her family as much as she saw him as her father.
"I figured something like this would happen. When Najarin informed me about Nevaeh's qualities, I knew taking her in would be a problem for us." Frafdo retorted lowly, crossing his arms.
"The only thing you were concerned about was the UnderWorlders coming after us for taking what they claimed is 'theirs'." Tangath corrected brusquely.
"They want her in their possession so that they could use her against us. And now, we're learning that she can potentially harm us without any ties. Those concerns are along the same lines I'm worried about." The flyer parried dourly.
As the two exchanged opposing opinions, Maxxor tuned them out and laid his eyes on Nevaeh who thankfully nodded at Intress for opening the main entrance. He couldn't completely wrap his head around the fact that someone as genial and charming as the girl could pose as a potentially dangerous being. However, he knew Tangath Toborn for so long and as his advisor and strategist, he undoubtedly trusted him. He's never failed the OverWorld leader once; his opinion very much mattered to him in spite of his personal preference.
"Are you alright, Maxxor?" His advisor inquired concernedly.
Turning his attention back to Tangath, he immediately asked, "Was she out of control when she attacked you?"
"Her actions displayed more recklessness, but I was able to knock her out before I could severely injure her. Once she gained consciousness, she acted as if nothing off had just occur, unaware of her supposed 'alter ego'." Said warrior recalled warily, processing the abruptness of the question. "In all honesty, I think this could progressively get worse the more she hones her abilities. Whatever is going on within her, it might push her to becoming a catastrophic force that even we won't be able to subdue…"
"So, we should stop her from using her powers and make sure she's watched closely for any erratic behaviour." Frafdo propounded strongly.
"No, it would just make it worse by confining her from the little freedom she already has." Maxxor rebuffed placidly. "This alter demeanor of hers is likely an adverse reaction or it's coming from an unknown source within her. If we act harshly on securing our worries, she's more prone to subjecting herself to that darkness."
Even though hearing about Nevaeh's harboured darkness was baffling, it still didn't change his drive to guide and protect her like he promised himself solons ago. Evidently, this wasn't the girl's doing whatsoever—she isn't even aware of it, according to Tangath. There was no doubt in Maxxor's mind that Nevaeh has remotely any ill intentions or an evil desire with her; this was something out of her control, unfortunately.
"Then, what should we do, Maxxor?" Frafdo asked mannerly.
The tribe's commander slowly walked towards the first of many steps to his castle. Both Frafdo and Tangath Toborn waiting anxiously for their ruler's answer. Maxxor proceeded to climb a handful of stairs before ceasing any further travel. He looked over his shoulder at his two trusted subordinates.
"Tangath Toborn, you'll continue as her mentor. Proceed to make sure she's under control while keeping her safe under your care." He instructed formally.
"Of course." Said OverWorlder accepted courteously.
Nodding appreciatively at him, Maxxor eyed Frafdo who waited for his command.
"Frafdo, the time will come when she has to learn her way of travel. When that happens, you'll be the one who will teach her. I expect you to do the same and keep her at bay."
"I will make sure of that, sir." Said flyer complied respectfully, bowing his head.
With the assurance increasing to an acceptable level, Maxxor resumed climbing up the stairs in silence.
"Our goal… is to guide her and protect her…" He uttered discreetly, outside of his people's earshot.
His last parting words to his fellow warriors lingered in their ears as they watched their leader ample up to his great castle.
And this concludes Part 2 of the Prologue! Hope you guys enjoyed so far, and I especially hope the two chapters give you a rough idea on my OC.
