Chapter 5 – Revelations and Decisions
The air is filled with tension between Shidou and John. So much so indeed that you could cut it with a knife. For several seconds none said nothing, just a stare contest between the two men and all the others in the room going back and forth looking now the former and now the latter. After that awkward silence Shidou simply sit himself in front of John. The small table, with what has remained of the food John has ordered, as the only line of separation between the two men.
The one who breaks the silence is Shidou itself.
"Mph. I must say. When I first heard that you came back on the spotlight with your tech company I was mildly impressed. Truly your desire for vengeance has reached new heights. So much so in fact that you would be ready to make deals with Devils to do so. As everyone told you the importance to forgive and let go".
The shit eating smile on his face is almost unbearable for Helly who is ready to jump to Shidou at the first chance. But she then feels a hand on her right shoulder and when she looks at it she finds John hands on her. But the latter is not even looking at her, simply staring at the doctor with emotionless eyes. Helly understands and she backs down and let him speaks.
"Yes, they told me. The only problem is that they were killed by the person standing in front of me. The same person that then shot at me making me fall inside the sewers of a God-forgotten city in Central Africa and left me there to be eaten by the rats. So, forgive me if I am not exactly in the best mood for your coming".
"Mph. The feeling is the same. Then I will make this short. The Destroyale that will happen this end of August is going to be the turning point of all Humanity history. God has finally decided that mankind is simply a cancer for the world and that it deserve only to go extinct. But the Lord in his infinite mercy and understanding has granted to my creations the honour to repopulate Earth after Mankind will be gone".
Shidou then looks at Ichinosuke and then again at John.
"You can do whatever you want with the Ishida Zaibatsu. They would have only been useful to cover some minor expenses at the end of the day. In the end, after this Destroyale the Ishida Zaibatsu and all the other ones will be gone, together with all of Humanity. Whether the Ishida will win or not it is completely inconsequential for me and God's plan".
After these revelations Ichinosuke is completely destroyed in the spirit. To think all the work that her lady has gone through will be wasted because of such impossible events, it fills his hearth with deep sadness. But his line of thoughts is interrupted by John that asks a silly, for how much it is obvious, question at Shidouh.
"Then i suppose that all the other leaders of the Zaibatsu are on the same boat with you?".
"Mph. Yes, they are. More for personal gains than anything else. The angels told to them that if they would participate in this project then they would have the chance to go to Heaven. Not that this matters to me. My only dream is that of seeing my creations take their right place in the world. All the rest is irrelevant".
After Shidou has ended his speech there is silence for some seconds, then all of them see John and Lucifer starting to laugh. The laughing becomes stronger and stronger, until it becomes an unstoppable belly laugh that remains for some seconds more before the two calm themselves down.
After retaking his breath John responds.

This time is Maria to enter the conversation.
"What do you mean?".
This time it is Lucifer to respond.
"It means that God is lying to them so that they will do as he wants, or the angels are lying and using that idiots as puppets for God's plan".
At this accusation Shidou's face fills itself with rage.
"How dare you accusing the Lord of being a liar. Then again, the both of you are simply trash that will inevitably be erased from this world. And while I don't know, and I don't care what a Fallen Angel may want from all of this. I still find that idiocy of yours even more groundless considering that even if with all the new techs you have given to the world, Humans have still found a way to use them to harm each other. Truly despicable".
John then rebounds.
"It is not an idiocy; it's called Transhumanism, and is the answer I have reached after all these years. The fact that someone has found a way to use my tech as a weapon is something that have already taken into account, and I wouldn't want anything different. Beside I call God a liar by analysing the moral laws that he himself as always obliged us to follow, but he seems so ready to throw out of the proverbial window when he desire so. For example. Let us assume that the Angel has said the truth and that God will pardon all the leaders that have decided to follow this plan. Already this is bad because they are people that have committed some sort of Sin and now every last rope of containment is broken. I would not be surprised if they decide to indulge in their worst desires knowing that they will go to Heaven no matter what. But here comes the problem with this logic. Even if the angel has said the truth and has reported the precise words of God, it remains nevertheless the possibility that God itself is lying to them. Because of God's nature there is simply none that can order or check on him; because of this he can lie to the humans and order the angels to give orders to them without repercussion, because none is above God and so none can oblige him to not to lie to the humans. Isn't this correct?".
Shidou is really pissed off at John's total lack of respect for God. What it makes him even more anger is that to a certain point he is right. God has no duty whatsoever to say the truth to Humanity. Nevertheless, his belief and the trust God has put on his project make his mind decide that the only way to come out of this is changing the conversation flow. So, he decides to point at John's transhuman belief.
"Maybe or maybe not. But it surely there are more probabilities of God being right than your idealistic Transhumanism being able to effectively change Mankind's nature or even save them. You are only deluding yourself if you think that by simply giving some fancy new tech then humans will change for the better. Or do you seriously think that Humanity is worth saving after all of they have done and the opportunities they have wasted?".
John tiles his head to his left and raise an eyebrow as some sort of unvoiced question towards Shidou. He then responds.
"Shidou. I think you are completely missing the point of what I am saying. It is completely irrelevant from my point of view if Humanity is worth or not saving, I will do it and that just it. I don't care if it is God or Santa Claus who I will have to fight to make it so. You know, after falling inside that sewers, with the bullet causing a huge blood loss and almost having my gut falling out of my body. I had a lot of time, between surviving and going out of that Hell, to think about the steps that have taken me to that point. In the end one simple truth remain certain to me. If I was able to understand my situation and adapt myself for the better, then there is no reason as to why others cannot do the same. On this principle I will do everything in my power to protect Humanity".
"Eh? And you seriously believe you have the capabilities to go against God".
"It is not simply a question of going against him. It is not yet born someone or something I cannot kill in any way, shape or form. And believe me, I am going to kill God one way or the other. Beside your point has an inherent flaw, which is that if you consider the entire human race as unable to change or become better than your own existence Shidou, by your own words, completely invalidate such a theory. Not that I expect anything else from someone like you".
"Mph. Simple madness masquerade by bravery, nothing new. You will only end up like your parents, someone who simply didn't understand his role in the world".
The calm that John is showing is starting to become unnerving for Shidou. But the latter was completely unprepared for what the former was going to say.

They created something way beyond what Humanity deserved. You know it better than anyone. "You are the only buffoon here Shidou. You are nothing more than a delusional eugenic genocidal scientist who has also betrayed its own species for its own miserable gains. You are in no position to put yourself on the moral high ground. But do not worry about it, I will make sure to take everything you have taken from me with the interests, and while I concur that Humanity was not ready at the time for the full force of my parents founding, you are a mere no one, you are in no position to decide what is better or worse for Humanity. So, fuck off. Our conversation ends here. The next time we will see each other I will kill you".
Shidou is realizing that he is in a bad stop, but decides to throw a small arrow to John before leaving.
He then looks at Maria.
"So, you are Maria Totsuka. The little friend of John from back when his parents were in Japan. "Yes, I have effectively stolen the equivalent of 100 billion dollars and almost making the whole economic system collapse on itself by myself. But I have not touch a single dollar of that 100, they were simply my entrance ticket to talk to Mammon, the Demon Lord of Greed".

In the meantime, the Ishida Zaibatsu has to simply follow the instructions as of our precedent deal. I will constantly update both you and your lady with news of our progresses and you of yours, so that we can better prepare our strategy and coordination.

He wanted to expand his influence as much as he could to rival all the other Pantheons and so he decided to use Humanity's tendency to go to war with each other in the name of their religion, for this reason. And I would say it was a major success, don't you think so. But some angels were not so happy with this. They still loved Humanity in some way or the other and having them being the puppets of God like this was too much. In the end their "rebellion" failed. They were exiled in Hell, became Devils and the rest as they say its history. After the war with Hell, I was nominated the leader of the Seven Heavenly Virtues, by the right of having slayed the leader of the Seven Mortal Sins, the Sin of Pride and my elder sister Azazel".
John looks at Lucifer with shock, never he would have thought that such a thing was even possible. In his hearth he wanted to say something to Lucifer, but he understands that right now, his pity is useless to Lucifer, and let her continue her story.

She then looks directly into John's eyes, the sadness and guilt replaced by a strong determination.
"I will be honest with you. I still don't care about the rest of Humanity, but i think that a world was Maria lives cannot be a wrong one. Because of this I will do anything in my power to save her. To this end I have given her my angelic blood. I will admit it is more akin to a life insurance then an actual plan, a way to make her safe if you know what I mean. So, because you have decided to trust me with this deal, I will trust you with this secret, but Maria shall not know of this".
John looks back at Lucifer with determination.
"She shall not know anything of this from me".
John then decides to disclose part of his backstory with Lucifer in lieu of the trust she has shown to him.
"You know, 10 years or so ago I would have never thought that I would have found myself in this situation. *chuckles* Hell, if the me from the future would have said that in almost a decade I would became the richest man in the world I would have think of him as a liar or a drunkard. And yet here I am, and I have arrived here in the worst possible way".
Lucifer looks at John, sadness and regret clearly visible in his words, and let him continue.
"I was 12 when all started. My parents were both the most prominent researchers in the field biotechnology engineering. They had a positive, almost idealistically view of the world, a lot of times we clashed out because of my realistic and almost cynical view of the world. *chuckles* you should have seen their faces when I said I wanted to become a politician. Yes, we ha a lot of argument, but I nonetheless respected their job and their dedication, damn, I have even followed both of them in some of their research voyages. And it was in their last research that they found their demise. As I said before they had a lot of theories and theoretical calculations, on how things would do, but even then, the amount of people that would be willingly to finance such expeditions was very low and even lower was the amount if money they wanted to spend on it. But I do not resent them. Much of the blame was on my parents and their unwillingness to bend their moral principles to obtain the necessary funding, aka use their research for military purposes. Then they came to Japan to obtain fundings, necessary for their final project. They were capable of creating a new method to successfully implant non-human DNA inside human one. The problem was that it was too unstable to being properly used on the grand scale. Then they found Shidou. He was rotting inside a third-rate university of Japan's countryside. Nevertheless, his genius and capabilities were the real deal. He had effectively created the blueprint for a machine with which doctors could effectively apply more unsafe procedures without the risks normally founded in them. But the machine was so expensive to produce that, by constructing a single one, the investors could have simply used their money to finance better hospitals, and so his project was left in the darkness. A single machine was ever built, one which he maintained to perfect conditions even if he thought he would have never used it, but then my parents came into his life. They shared their respective findings and concurred that Shidou's machine was indeed the only one that could put on the type of procedure that the "method" of hybridization my parents had created. And then they allied to find the fundings to prepare the expedition, destination Central Africa. One week after their meeting Shidou had already found the money and we were on the first plane for Congo".
Lucifer after hearing John's stories started to connect the dots.
"*sigh* let me guess, it was a trap".
John simply nods.
"Yes, the way with which he had found the money was by practically selling my parents work as his, and then finding the obvious ways in which to attract the rich investors from the four Zaibatsu. Needlessly to say none of us knew anything about it at the time".
"But, what exactly were you searching in Congo?".
"Salamanders, or more exactly a specifical subspecies of salamander that lived in that region of Africa. In the food chain they were and still are very low, and so they adapted in the most extreme of way possible. Over the course of millions of years they obtained the most powerful regenerative factor of all the animal kingdom, only the amoeba is more powerful in this regard. They are literally capable of regenerative every single part of their bodies within hours and even decapitating them is unsuccessful. But we were not searching them strictly for their regenerative factor. What we were searching was their DNA to use as a matrix upon which to create every other possible DNA alteration possible. The reason for this is their incredibly adaptable DNA, because of the necessity to grow back entire limbs no matter the situation they have a genetic material that it is extremely flexible to mutations of sort. The idea was to use such feature and implant that inside the future patients, so that the possibility of rejections of future alterations.
To put in simple terms, this means that thanks to the injection of this salamander DNA If someone would have wanted future alterations then the chance of a rejection and his effects would have been more controlled. It would have been a true revolution for the medical world. *sigh* truly a revolution.
"But then, what happed?".
"We searched in the thickest part of Congo's pluvial forest for a week, we almost given up, but in the end we found them. A male and a female, already matured and ripe for harvesting their rich DNA. And then on our way back I was bitten by a poisonous snake, it was of a species never before documented, so there was no cure. In a race against time, they were capable to return to the camp and prepare an experimental dose for me. There was no time for trials or even to create a different one. It was a gamble, for three days and three night I fought with unbearable level of pain, bu then the fourth day I was fine again. The gamble was a success, and everyone was overjoyed with it. And with the apex of our happiness came the our despair".
"Shidou".
"Yes. He called his "sponsor" and they responded with an entire army of mercenary. The entire village in which we had our camp was razed o the ground, no one was spared. My parents were caught off guard, but they refused to follow Shidou in his plan. They were killed on the spot, and I could do nothing but watch it all happen in front me, completely powerless. After recuperating from the aftershock, or t least the amount necessary for me to restart to make logical decisions, I sprinted for the laboratory and as fast as possible I destroyed our research as fast I could possibly do. In the end my plan was only half successful, and the reward for it was a rifle bullet in the stomach and a funny walk throughout the sewers of the city for as long as I could go. The rest of the story is for another time".
After the long explanation John looks back at Lucifer.
"I am telling you all of this in virtue of the trust you have bestowed upon me. I hope our collaboration can be more smoothly from now on".
John then stops a moment to think and then he asks.
"But still, I don't understand why the angel blood is so important".
Lucifer then goes back to look outside and sigh.
"*sigh* the problem is that without the angel blood inside of Maria's body finding the Seven Mortal Sins here on Earth will be much harder".
"What do you mean?".
"As the ex-head of the Seven Virtues I had the capability to see where the Mortal Sins are in the world with a great degree of accuracy, but not with certainty. And now that I have become a Devil, I have no more this power, while Maria should still possess it by the right of having my angel blood".
John brings a hand under his chin making a thoughtful pose.
"Interesting, nevertheless there will be no need for it".
Lucifer looks back at John with a shocked and curios expression on her face.
"What do you mean?".
"Well, for start by the right of our partnership i already know the position of one of the Seven Sins, but other than that i already know the position of another one".
"Who?".
"Asmodeus of Lust".
"How?".
At that John takes his phone and after a quick search on the web he shows his findings to Lucifer. She looks at what is the first page of a local newspaper of Miami in Florida which talks about a massive party organized by the famous model, actress, pornostar, influencer and CEO of Asmodeus's Secret (Ex-Victoria's secret) who goes by the nick name Asmodeus.
Lucifer looks back at John.
"It is really so easy?".
John replies with a small smile and by shrugging his shoulders.
"In part yes. With today's tech knowledge of events are quite easily to publish and to know about it".
"B-but so much in the open. What are they thinking? Aren't they preoccupied that the Church or the Angels will go and hunt them".
"*giggles* welcome to the 21st century. And believe me, helping the church in killing the Devils is the last thing that the US government will do, considering that their status as The global superpower is thanks to them. Now, I think the both of us should go to sleep. Tomorrow we will take my private jet and we will go straight to Miami".
"O-okay. And thanks John, for helping me in my goal".
John is already starting to go back to his room, but to answer Lucifer he turns around and with a warm smile says.
"No problem. We are now partners on the same boat. Fighting against one another will do us no good. Beside as much as you want to protect Maria, I want to protect Humanity, so our goals align themselves. Now, I think its tie to sleep; don't you think?".
"Yes, I think so".
And with that finally said and the gap between the two reduced a bit more the finally allowed themselves to sleep in a very similar situation. John hugged on both sides by Selina and Helly, while Lucifer by Leviathan and Maria.
The both of them closing their eyes hoping that the future will be more favourable to them.

Finally, after some setbacks I am back.
*sigh* Honestly speaking it was one hell of a job to complete this chapter; but now, after soo much waiting and annoyances it is finally complete.
Now, for this occasion this section will be shorter than usual. I will make a Chapter 5.5 where I will answer some suggestions that all you have gently pointed out to me plus some news on my project for the future. Nevertheless, this chapter has been quite the challenge for me. For example, the first version of it, the one I have lost in my old computer, was composed of four parts: the argue between Shidou and John, the Flashback of how John met Mammon, the Lemon Scene and finally the reconciliation between John and Lucifer. After thinking about it, I have decided that the second part was unnecessary, and I have simply put a small talk/explanation by John of it (I have nonetheless the intention of using the flashback when it will be the time to talk about Mammon). After I have completely redone this chapter, I was ready to publish it. But a brainstorm later I realized that this chapter could be improved upon it.
Because of this I have finally decides to completely embrace the AU plot, instead of trying to do a mash up thing between the two anime with my OC. By this I mean that from now on outside of the order in which the MCs will meet the various Demon Lords and their appearance everything else will be completely outside of the continuity and the "canon" of the two anime.
As always I await your reviews and we will meet again in Chapter 5.5 for news regarding upcoming projects of mine after the 1st narrative arc of this story will be complete.

Because exams are near, and because I make 6K+ long chapter, the quantity of chapters I will make will drop significantly. Nevertheless, I will continue the story.
