Well here's the next chapter, I chose this one book to give Copper a nemesis of his own. I don't own Berenstain Bears which are owned by Jan and Mike Berenstain, accept for this story that the chapter is based on which Stan created. Pokemon belongs to Nintendo and Young Justice belongs to DC, Greg Wiesman and Brandon Vietii.
Chapter 2: Another world a New Family
Copper approached the Tree House, with Flash on his shoulder and Firestorm and Robin in their respective Pokeballs. He had just placed his foot on the first step when a School Bus pulled up and two very familiar bear cubs stepped out of it. One was a boy of Ten-year-old, like himself, wearing a red collared shirt and blue pants. The other was a female of eight in a white long-sleeved blouse with pink polka dots, frilly pink overalls and a pink ribbon tied in a bow. Whom Copper recognized as Brother and Sister looked perplexed by this odd looking cub of some sort and the Yellow Rodent looking thing on his shoulder.
Brother Bear, noticing Copper and his unusual companion, a being with no fur save for the top of his head which had honey-blond hair, cyan eyes and white skin, wearing black tank top under a blue, short sleeve, denim shirt and tan cargo shorts. furrowed his brow. "Who's this guy? And what's that yellow rodent on his shoulder?"
Sister Bear, equally curious, examined Copper with wide eyes. "He looks different. Are you a new cub in Bear Country?"
Copper smiled, recognizing the Bear siblings. "Hey, I'm Copper, This is Flash," he gestured to the Pikachu. " Pika Pika!" Flash responded.
Brother and Sister exchanged glances, intrigued by the unfamiliar yet fascinating visitor.
Copper noticed their perplexed looks. " You look like you've never seen..." He realized what they were confused about. " Hello Megan, of course you never met a human or a Pokemon before." Copper said.
Sister Bear scratched her head, a mix of confusion and intrigue on his face. "Humans? Pokemon? What's he talking about, Brother?"
Brother Bear shrugged, equally perplexed. "I have no idea, Sis, This is all so strange."
The Bear siblings continued to observe Copper and his companion, their curiosity piqued by the unusual terms and creatures introduced by the mysterious visitor.
" Um, can we talk about this inside please?" Copper asked.
Brother and Sister Bear exchanged glances before Brother nodded in agreement. "Sure, let's head inside the treehouse. We can figure this out there." Copper with Flash on his shoulder, followed them inside.
As Copper, Flash, Brother and Sister walked into the house. " Mama, Papa we're home from school!" Brother said. " And we have some guests." Added Sister.
Mama Bear, who was busy in the kitchen, turned around at the sound of Brother and Sister's voices. "Welcome home, cubs! Guests? Well, isn't that a pleasant surprise." She approached them, wiping her paws on a towel.
Papa Bear, who was reading a newspaper nearby, also looked up. "Guests, you say? Well, let's make them feel welcome. Who's visiting?"
Brother Bear gestured toward Copper. "This is Copper. He's from another world, and he has these strange creatures with him."
Mama Bear smiled warmly. "Hello, Copper! You're welcome here. Tell us about your world and your... creatures."
Papa Bear set aside his newspaper, intrigued. "Yes, we're always open to learning about new things."
Copper took a deep breath, ready to share his extraordinary tale with the Bear Family.
'That's a close one, I thought for sure Papa would give us his suspicious schpele.' Copper said telepathically to Flash.
'Yeah, it seemed like he was about to grill us with questions.' Flash responded telepathically to Copper. 'We need to be cautious about what we reveal, especially in this new environment.'
" Okay there's a lot to go over, where should I start?" Copper asked. As he, Flash and the Bear Family, sat on the living room couch to talk.
Papa Bear gestured to the open space on the couch. "Why don't you start from the beginning, Copper? We're all ears."
" Well first I'm not a Bear of any sort." Copper said. " I'm what's called a Human, more specifically a Homo Magi, which is a Human being born with a natural affinity for Magic." He paused and saw the skeptical looks on their faces. " You don't believe me do you?"
Mama Bear exchanged a glance with Papa, and they both wore expressions of curiosity and intrigue. "Magic, you say?" Papa Bear raised an eyebrow. "We haven't seen anything like that around here. What kind of magic are we talking about, Copper?"
Mama Bear added with a friendly smile, "We're open to hearing about new things, dear. Please, go on."
" Observe." He said, extending a hand to one of Mama's vases on a stool next to the TV. " Vas levitatis ad manum meam!" He said focusing on the vase.
The vase shot off the stool and into Cooper's hand, as Copper exhibited his magical abilities. Mama Bear's eyes widened in surprise, and even Papa Bear leaned forward, fascinated by the display.
"Well, I'll be... That's some trick," Papa Bear remarked, a hint of amazement in his voice.
Mama Bear added, "You really are from a different world, aren't you? This is quite extraordinary."
" Universe, actually, the Multiverse to be precise." Copper explained. " I comfrom a universe where Humans exist, Bears do too but their feral." He explained.
Brother Bear scratched his head, trying to grasp the concept. "So, you're saying there's a world where bears aren't like us?"
Copper nodded. "Exactly, Brother. It's a world with humans, like me, who have different abilities. And there are creatures called Pokemon, like Flash here." He patted the Pikachu on his shoulder.
Sister Bear looked at Flash with wide eyes. "Is that a Pokemon?" she asked, pointing at the yellow creature.
Copper smiled. "Yes, Flash is a Pokemon. In my world, Pokemon are companions and friends. They have unique abilities, and we can train them to do all sorts of things."
The Bear Family exchanged glances, absorbing the information about Copper's fascinating world.
" More specifically Flash is a very specific Pokemon called a Pikachu." Copper explained.
"Ah, a Pikachu!" Sister Bear exclaimed with excitement. "I've never seen anything like it. It's adorable!"
Flash, appreciating the compliment, gave a cheerful sound in response, his ears twitching.
Papa Bear chuckled. "Well, Copper, you've certainly brought something extraordinary to Bear Country. This Pikachu of yours is quite a spectacle."
Mama Bear added with a smile, "It's not every day we get visitors from other universes with magical abilities and Pikachu friends."
" Human's come in four to five different kinds where I'm from." Copper said. " There are Atlanteans, aka Homo Mermanus, They have adaptions, stemming from a blend of Sorcery and Genetic Evolution that enables them to live comfortably underwater."
The Bear Family exchanged intrigued glances as Copper delved into the variety of humans in his universe. Papa Bear, curious, asked, "Atlanteans? Living underwater comfortably? That's quite remarkable. How does that work?"
Copper proceeded to explain the unique adaptations of Atlanteans, detailing their enhanced abilities for underwater living. The Bear Family listened with fascination, absorbing the information about a world where such diverse human types coexisted.
" Then there are the Homo Magi, like myself who are naturally born with a natural born aptitude, for Magic." Copper said.
"Homo Magi, born with a knack for magic?" Mama Bear echoed. "That's certainly something we haven't encountered here in Bear Country. Can you show us more magic, Copper please?"
" Flores crescunt!" He said, concentrating on the flowers in the vase. The flowers in the vase began to bloom and grow, their petals unfolding in a mesmerizing display. Mama Bear's eyes widened in amazement, and even Sister Bear clapped her paws with delight.
"That's truly magical!" Mama Bear exclaimed. "You have a gift, Copper."
Papa Bear chuckled, "Looks like we have our very own magician in Bear Country now."
" Some, Homo Magi, have a Familiars." Copper went on. " Magical companions that can be either an Animal or Elemental-entity, for example, Flash is my familiar we have a bond."
"Familiars? A magical bond?" Papa Bear questioned, intrigued. "I must say, Copper, this is all very new and fascinating to us. A world with such magical connections and companionship."
Flash, understanding his role as Copper's familiar, gave a cheerful Pikachu, adding to the amazement of the Bear Family.
" Next are the the Homo Metas, aka Metahumans." Copper went on. " Humans with a special gene called a Metagene that starts out dormant, eventually it will awaken typically under dangerous circumstances."
"Metahumans with a dormant gene that awakens under stress?" Brother Bear mused. "So, they get superpowers? That sounds like something out of a comic book!"
Copper grinned, "Exactly! It's like having real-life superheroes. Some can fly, others have super strength or unique abilities. It's a world full of incredible diversity."
" Finally their are Homo Sapians, Humans with no Magic or Superpowers what so ever." Copper said. " But that doesn't mean they don't have potential."
"Homo Sapians, the regular humans?" Mama Bear clarified. "So, not everyone in your world has magic or superpowers?"
Copper nodded, "That's right. In my world, everyone has their own unique potential. It's not just about magic or superpowers; it's about what you choose to do with what you have."
" Now, Pokemon actually come from a popular culture franchise in my world." Copper said. " But their diversity comes in many ways. Flash as I mentioned is a Pikachu, is Pokemon, of the Electric Element or better known as an Electric Type."
"Electric Type Pokemon?" Sister Bear asked. "What does that mean?"
Copper explained, "Each Pokemon has a type that determines its strengths and weaknesses. Electric Types, like Flash here, have abilities related to electricity. They can generate electric attacks and are often quick and agile. There are many different types, each with its own characteristics." Copper picked up a light bulb and gave it To Flash. " Show them, Buddy."
Flash's cheeks sparked and he gave a small jolt of electricity, causing the light bulb to illuminate. Sister Bear's eyes widened in amazement.
"Oh wow, that's incredible!" she exclaimed. "I've never seen anything like it!"
Papa Bear added, "Quite the talent, that Pikachu of yours has, Copper."
" I have two others on me." He removed Firestorm and Robin's Pokeballs from his belt and opened them. " Firestorm here is a Charmander, a Fire-Type Pokemon and Robin is a Riolu, a Fighting-Type Pokemon." He said.
" The Devices I let them out of are called Pokeballs." He said, showing them as you can see, the shrink and attach to the belt for easy access. " The mechanism is complicated to describe, but only one Pokemon can fit in one Pokeball, and you can't use them on other individuals Pokemon as that's considered stealing and it doesn't work on captured Pokemon."
Papa Bear studied the Pokeballs with interest. "Intriguing devices. It's like having a compact home for your Pokemon. And there are rules about using them on other Pokemon? That sounds fair."
Copper nodded, "Yes, it's essential to respect the bond between a Trainer and their Pokemon. Trying to capture someone else's Pokemon without their permission is not only unethical but also against the rules."
" At most a Trainer can carry only six Pokemon." Copper said.
"Six Pokemon at a time?" Brother Bear asked. "That still sounds like a lot to manage. How do you decide which ones to bring with you?"
Copper explained, "It depends on the situation. Different Pokemon have different strengths, and the key is to have a well-balanced team. Some Trainers have favorites they always keep with them, while others might switch based on the challenges they expect to face."
" You can still capture as many as you can." Copper explained. " But if you already have six on your person, the others are transported to a Storage Facility and you can switch one Pokemon in your Team for another in your Storage Facility."
"That's quite a system," Mama Bear commented. "It sounds like there's a lot more to being a Pokemon Trainer than meets the eye."
Copper nodded, "Absolutely. Being a Trainer involves strategy, bonding with your Pokemon, and, of course, having fun on your journey. It's a unique and exciting experience."
Brother Bear's eyes widened, "Wait, so today's your birthday, and you got teleported here on your birthday?"
Copper chuckled, "Yeah, talk about an unexpected birthday adventure."
" Why are you asking, Brother?" Copper asked.
Brother Bear grinned, "Well, if today's your birthday, that means we share the same birthday!"
Copper was surprised, "Really? That's quite a coincidence."
Sister Bear chimed in, "We never met anyone who shares our birthday before. This is exciting!"
Copper smiled, feeling a connection with his new friends. "Yeah, it's pretty cool. Birthday buddies, huh?"
Sister was puzzled about something. " Mama, what is a Foster Kid?" She asked.
Mama Bear gently explained, "Well, sweetheart, a foster kid is someone who doesn't live with their biological family for a while. They stay with another family, like a friend's family or a kind family who wants to help and take care of them. It's a way to make sure every child has a safe and loving home, even if it's not their original family."
Sister Bear nodded, trying to understand, "Oh, I see. So, Copper, you've been living with different families?"
Copper nodded, "Yeah, that's right. I've been in a few different homes, but I've always hoped to find a forever family, you know, a place where I really belong."
" My Parents were turned into Pigs by that sick Witch, Circe." He said angrily.
Mama Bear expressed empathy, "Oh, Copper, that sounds like a really tough situation. We're sorry to hear that happened to your parents. But you're welcome here, and we'll do our best to make you feel like part of our family."
Copper appreciated the warmth of the Bear family, "Thanks, Mama. It means a lot. And I'm here with Flash, Firestorm, and Robin too."
Flash gave a cheerful "Pika!" as if reassuring the Bears.
Mama Bear, with a curious expression, asked, "Copper, is the Circe you mentioned the same one from the Odyssey, the Greek myth?"
" That's her." He said.
" Mama who's Circe?" Sister asked.
Mama Bear explained, "Circe is a character from Greek mythology. In the Odyssey, she's a powerful enchantress known for turning Odysseus's men into animals. It seems like Copper went through something similar."
Copper nodded, confirming Mama's explanation.
" I was lucky to be in a patch a Moly." Copper said. " As you read Mama it's the one herb, her magic has no effect on."
Mama Bear nodded, understanding. "Well, Copper, you're welcome here in Bear Country. We'll make sure you feel at home. And it looks like you've brought some interesting friends along." She smiled, glancing at Flash, Firestorm, and Robin.
Mama gave Papa a look. " Papa, would you help me with Dinner please?" She asked.
Papa Bear nodded. "Of course, Mama. Copper, you can join us for dinner, and we can talk more after." He gestured for Mama to lead the way to the kitchen.
" Don't you think he deserves a forever home?" Mama asked.
Papa Bear nodded. "Indeed, Mama. If Copper needs a family, and we can provide that, then let's welcome him into our home."
