Beginning Of The End

Chapter 4

As Shang Xiang and Tiānshî entered the tent, Shang Xiang spoke softly. " You are bleeding sister. Let me tend your wounds. "

" They are only small wounds. I am alright... " Tiānshî sighed softly before slowly taking off her armour as Shang Xiang's handmaidens brought in cool water to fill the bath in her tent. As Tiānshî took her shirt off, Shang Xiang whimpered softly before Tiānshî spoke calmly. " Is something wrong Shang? "

" It's just... Your scars... I can't bear the thought of what they did to you... " Shang Xiang walked over to Tiānshî slowly as she stood still before gently running her fingers over the scars adorning Tiānshî's back.

" I could describe it to you... But it is my burden to bear. " Tiānshî turned slowly to reveal the scars also adorning her stomach and chest. As Shang Xiang stepped back, Lu Xun walked in before blushing brightly as Tiānshî rapidly covered up.

" LU XUN! " Tiānshî blushed furiously as Shang Xiang shoved him out of the tent.

" I didn't know! I swear! " Lu Xun spoke quickly as Shang Xiang fumed.

" I don't care! You never walk into a woman's tent or room without announcing yourself idiot! " Shang Xiang thumped Lu Xun on the head hard before walking back into the tent as Lu Xun looked around sheepishly.

" Geez, What does a girl have to do to get some privacy huh? " Shang Xiang sighed before noticing that Tiānshî was sitting in the tub as the handmaiden's poured cool water over her. " Just relax and let my handmaidens tend to you. I promise they will be very gentle. "

" I... I'm not sure I am comfortable letting others touch me just yet. I can wash myself... " Tiānshî spoke calmly before turning away as Shang motioned for the handmaidens to leave before picking up a cloth and dipping it into the water before rubbing it over Tiānshî's back gently as Tiānshî quickly moved away from her.

" Relax sister. It is just me. Surely you aren't against letting me care for you? " Shang Xiang smiled lovingly as Tiānshî sighed softly before moving back to Shang Xiang's reach as she spoke.

" I just... No-one in Wei was gentle. Even Lu Xun was like a blacksmith handling glass. " Tiānshî rolled her eyes as she groaned, Causing Shang Xiang to giggle softly before Tiānshî continued. " A gentle touch just isn't something I can say I am accustomed to. "

" I promise to be the most gentle touch you will ever find sister. Now sit still and let me wash the blood out of your hair. " Shang Xiang smiled as Tiānshî moved her hair in front of her face before making a disgusted sound at the dried, Crusty blood smeared through her hair as Shang Xiang giggled playfully. " I don't mean to laugh but for someone so ferocious to sound disgusted by dried blood was quite amusing. "

" I imagine so. But it is not the blood that disgusts me. More from whom it came. " Tiānshî sighed softly before continuing. " Yet it could have been worse. "

" How so? " Shang Xiang spoke softly as she picked up a small jar of liquid and took the lid off.

" Every fibre of my being wanted to turn and annihilate Wei. Every last one of them. Had father not asked me to stay my hand, I would have not even glanced toward the Yellow Turbans. " Tiānshî whimpered unnervingly as echoes of the whips sting coursed through her scars. " I still feel it Shang. Every time that whip tore my flesh. Every time Cao Cao choked me into unconsciousness. Every glaring eye as they paraded me through the city naked. I still feel everything as if it is still happening. "

" If it is so overwhelming, You can always trust me to help you carry that weight with you. I am your sister. Nothing will ever make me think less of you or regard you differently. " Shang Xiang smiled as Tiānshî turned to look at her with tear filled eyes.

" Shang... I feel like I lost who I was in Wei. Honestly, Cao Cao came so close to breaking me. The whips, Blades, Choking, Even the humiliation of that parade. I could have dealt with that. The part that I don't speak of and that Lu Xun doesn't know is what happened when I first arrived in Wei. Cao Cao sent his... I don't even know what to call them... They had little vials of liquids and different blades and weird looking tools... He sent them to torture me. They did things to me that I can't even speak of Shang. Things that I didn't even know could be done to a person. I see that torture whenever I close my eyes. Even the split second that I blink is a soul crushing reminder of what I went through. Ce was right. It's poison and it's killing me. I can't carry it anymore. I just can't... " Tiānshî cried softly as Shang Xiang pulled her out of the bath and held her lovingly.

" You are my darling little sister and I will do everything and anything that I can to help you get through this. You are not alone anymore. You have all of us and we all love you so much. " Shang Xiang bit her lip as she tried not to cry while Tiānshî nuzzled against her chest and broke down completely.

The Next Day

Tiānshî had slept for most of the morning but awoke quickly as she felt a shake and quickly sat up as she gasped loudly and shivered at the images in her head. After a moment, She realised that she wasn't in a bed, But in the back of a wagon as Shang Xiang's voice made her jump slightly.

" You are safe sister. We are heading back to the capital. You are going to love it. We can have picnics in the gardens and the villagers will want to meet you. " Shang Xiang smiled with an intoxicating amount of happiness before realising that Tiānshî looked like she was struggling to breathe. " Sister? Are you alright? "

Tiānshî breathed heavily and began clutching at her chest for a moment before launching herself off the wagon and dashing into the nearby forest as Shang Xiang stopped her horse and got off before running after Tiānshî. After a few minutes of searching, Shang Xiang found Tiānshî sitting beside as small river, Crying uncontrollably. As Shang Xiang sat down, Tiānshî spoke softly.

" I can't breathe Shang... I wake up sweating and short of breath every time I sleep and everything that is happening... I am so overwhelmed and I am hurting so much. I can't do this... " Tiānshî breathed heavily but felt relief and calm wash over her as Shang Xiang hugged her lovingly.

" You are the strongest of us. Even if you don't know it yet. You can do this. We are your family now and our home awaits you. I know it is hard and scary and that you are overwhelmed but I am here for you. " Shang Xiang smiled but jumped slightly as Ce walked up behind her with Sun Quan in tow and spoke softly.

" She isn't the only one. We are your brothers. We might be a bit rough around the edges but we will do anything to keep you safe. " Sun Ce smirked as Sun Quan nodded in approval before Tiānshî took a deep breath and spoke slowly.

" Ce... I just... " Tiānshî fell silent as Sun Ce walked forward and put a hand on her shoulder gently before speaking.

" I know. But we all feel fear. Just because we charge in and don't hesitate doesn't make us fearless. We all feel pain and sadness and everything that you are feeling. We just don't fully understand you yet. Let us in sis. We can't help if you don't let us. " Sun Ce spoke sternly but had a look of longing and hopefulness in his eyes as Tiānshî spoke.

" I don't even know how to help myself Ce... " Tiānshî sighed softly as Sun Ce pulled her to her feet and hugged her tightly, Making her whimper softly as she nuzzled against his chest.

" Doesn't matter. We will figure it all out together. We are a family. " Sun Ce smiled as Tiānshî stepped back and nodded silently before Sun Quan walked forward and gently wiped the tears off her cheeks.

" I saw you fight sister. You might be in pain and you might be upset but out there, You were a guiding light to us all. We will all follow you anywhere and care for you in any way you need but we are not omniscient. Talk to us when you need help and we will help you. You need only ask. For now, Father is waiting. He would not leave without you. " Sun Quan smiled as Tiānshî sighed and nuzzled his hand gently as he ran his thumb over cheek tenderly.

" Let's go home. I need to be alone for a while when we get there but I want to go home. " Tiānshî sniffled softly as Shang Xiang, Sun Ce and Sun Quan all pulled her into a little huddle and hugged her gently before they all walked back to Sun Jian. As Tiānshî climbed back on to the wagon, She gasped loudly as she was pulled onto a horse. As she turned her head to see who it was, Sun Jian smiled down at her.

" You ride with me daughter. Rest now. I will protect you. " Sun Jian leant forward and kissed her forehead gently before Tiānshî sighed calmly and leant against him for a moment before quickly falling asleep to the sound of his heartbeat as they rode toward the capital.

Nightfall

As they rode through the gates, The villagers that were still awake all whispered amongst themselves as they saw Tiānshî sleeping as she leant against Sun Jian.

" Who is she? "

" A concubine? "

" She is too young for that. "

" Maybe an orphan? "

" Perhaps. But why would Lord Sun Jian take her in? "

" Perhaps out of pity? "

" I heard she was brought here by Lu Xun before the army left for the battle but the only people who saw her then were the soldiers and generals. They have kept her hidden until today. "

" The people are curious but they should control their gossiping until they learn more. " Sun Jian thought quietly as he continued toward the palace. After arriving, Sun Jian carried Tiānshî to his quarters and tucked her into bed before leaving the room. As he left, He looked toward the guards at the door.

" No one but I enters this room alive. Should anything happen to her in my absence, I will hold you responsible. Send for me when she awakens and see that she receives anything she needs or requests. " Sun Jian nodded as the two guards saluted respectfully before he walked away quietly.

The Next Day

Sun Jian awoke and stood before stretching out. As his bones popped and his muscles ached, He thought to himself that he really should make his throne more comfortable. After a moment of groaning as he stretched, Sun Jian walked toward his quarters. As he approached, He noticed that the two guards looked completely exhausted. " You remained awake all night? " As the guards nodded, Sun Jian smiled appreciatively. " You have done your duties magnificently. Go home and rest. And take tomorrow off and relax. Thank you for watching over her. " Sun Jian bowed politely as the two guards bowed in respect before walking down the corridor as Sun Jian pulled the doors open and walked into the room. As he looked toward the bed, Sun Jian felt panic fill his heart as he saw the bed empty. Before he could react, He heard a soft sobbing sound coming from the wardrobe.

After walking over, Sun Jian pulled the doors open before pushing the hanging robes aside to see Tiānshî curled up, crying softly. " Daughter? "

Tiānshî gasped softly before launching herself into Sun Jian's arms as she cried. " I woke up and didn't know where I was. I panicked when I heard voices outside the door... "

" You have nothing to fear daughter. The guards were there to keep you safe at my request. I will allow nothing to hurt you here. " Sun Jian petted Tiānshî's head gently as she slowly stopped crying and sobbed softly for a moment.

" I am sorry. I am being childish. " Tiānshî quickly motioned to wipe her tears away but froze as Sun Jian caressed her cheek gently as he spoke.

" You are my daughter. While you are not a child, Acting like one is perfectly acceptable given what you have been through. Being childish is not a bad thing, It simply has times where it is misplaced. This however is not one of those times. Getting upset when you are scared is perfectly normal. " Sun Jian wiped Tiānshî's tears away gently as she sighed softly before he pulled her into a very tender hug and held her gently as he spoke soothingly. " You are my child. Even when you grow and have children of your own, You will always be my little girl and I will always love you. Always remember that. "

" I love you to father. Thank you so much. " Tiānshî smiled happily as Sun Jian petted her head slowly.

" There is nothing I would not do for my children. " Sun Jian smiled before stepping back. " If I am not mistaken, Shang wanted to show you around today. She will still be sleeping. She is not a morning person. Go wake her if you can but be careful. She may be grumpy. " Sun Jian chuckled as Tiānshî smiled and nodded happily before running out of the room and down the hall to Shang Xiang's room. After walking in silently, Tiānshî walked over to the bed to see Shang Xiang sleeping soundly with a cute expression on her face.

After smiling cheekily, Tiānshî lifted the blanket and slowly edged into bed beside Shang Xiang before taking a breath and pressing her lips to Shang Xiang's neck as she breathed out, Causing a loud noise like a broken trumpet and sending vibrations through Shang Xiang's neck, Making her yell loudly and fall out of bed as Tiānshî laughed playfully. After a moment, Shang Xiang regained her composure and sat up to see Tiānshî giggling happily. " Why you little... " Shang Xiang grinned as she lunged toward Tiānshî while she laughed loudly. After a moment, Tiānshî was pinned to the bed as Shang Xiang tickled her relentlessly.

" No! Stop Shang! It's too much... " Tiānshî laughed happily and tried to regain her breathe as Shang leant down and kissed her cheek gently.

" You little menace. Lucky I love you so much. " Shang smiled before getting off Tiānshî and walking over to her wardrobe. As Shang Xiang yawned and let her robe fall to the floor, Tiānshî gasped and turned away quickly as Shang Xiang giggled. " Really? I bathed you and now your nervous? "

" Sh... Shut up! " Tiānshî blushed lightly before pouting as Shang Xiang laughed.

" You are so cute when you are mad sister. You don't have to be nervous you know. I have no reason to be shy around you. " Shang Xiang smiled as she got dressed while Tiānshî groaned loudly and buried her face in the pillows before Shang Xiang walked over and sat down. " But I understand. Contrary to popular opinion, I was a little girl once too. "

" Wait, You had feelings for someone when you were young?! " Tiānshî looked surprised as Shang Xiang giggled.

" Of course I did. It is natural to feel that way for someone. Even if you don't mean to, You can't help who your heart desires. " Shang Xiang tousled Tiānshî's hair gently before pulling her off the bed and leaving the room.

" You say that like you felt for someone you shouldn't have... " Tiānshî spoke calmly before Shang Xiang giggled and spoke.

" Because I did. While it isn't wrong, It is frowned upon for two girls to love each other. That was a long time ago. I have not felt that way for someone since she left the city. " Shang Xiang looked sad for a moment but smiled as she pulled Tiānshî toward the palace kitchens. " Come with me, I will make you breakfast. "

" You can cook?! " Tiānshî sounded surprised and grinned playfully as Shang Xiang shot her an offended look.

" Hey! I am not all war and emotions you know! I have skills! " Shang Xiang pouted as Tiānshî poked her cheek playfully.

" Pouting isn't a skill. " Tiānshî giggled as Shang Xiang growled softly.

" I'll show you pouting you little brat! " Shang Xiang motioned to tackle Tiānshî but missed as Tiānshî darted down the hallway toward the kitchen before Shang Xiang stood and chased after her. As Shang Xiang burst into the kitchens, The cooks all turned to look at her in shock before sighing and pointing toward a large crate in the corner. As she walked over and took the lid off, Shang Xiang was surprise to see that it was just full of flour. As she looked carefully, Shang Xiang saw Tiānshî's eyes open and quickly close before speaking loudly. " HA! Busted! " Shang Xiang dove into the crate, Sending flour flying into the air before the crate tipped over and she rolled out of it with Tiānshî before pinning her to the floor and tickling her again as the cooks watched them with looks that spoke volumes of how surprised Shang Xiang's behaviour was making them feel. After several moments of tickling Tiānshî, Shang Xiang stood and dusted herself off before realising the cooks were staring at her before smiling sheepishly and bowing apologetically as she spoke.

" I am so sorry! I will clean up! " Shang Xiang groaned softly but looked confused as one of the cooks walked over and petted her head gently before picking up a broom and starting to sweep up the flour on the floor as two other cooks stood the crate back up and wiped flour off the benches as a thundering voice filled the kitchen.

" WHO TRASHED MY KITCHEN?! I WILL WRAP A ROLLING PIN AROUND YOUR FOREHEAD WHEN I FIND OUT WHO IT WAS! " The head cook stormed through the kitchen as Shang Xiang looked toward Tiānshî who was scrambling toward the corner with a fearful look on her face before curling into a ball in the corner beside the flour crate as the cook stormed over. Before the cook could do anything, Shang Xiang made a silent motion for her to stop before whispering so Tiānshî didn't hear.

" I made the mess but please stop Yang. Your shouting is scaring my sister. " Shang Xiang looked pleadingly at Yang, Who was a much larger woman with an intimidating level of fitness and muscle definition before Yang looked past Shang Xiang and noticed Tiānshî curled up in the corner crying softly.

" You have a sister? Since when? " Yang spoke softly as Shang Xiang smiled.

" Lu Xun brought her back from Wei. They tortured her for years there. She is very emotional and carries more than her share of scars. Please don't scare her anymore. She has enough to deal with. " Shang Xiang spoke pleadingly as Yang walked past her and knelt down as she spoke soothingly.

" I am sorry if I scared you little lamb. My name is Yang Zuhai. Come out of the corner. I won't hurt you. " Yang smiled reassuringly as Tiānshî glanced toward her with pain and fear in her eyes before she turned back to the corner and continue crying softly. " I really did scare her huh? "

" Yes. I imagine that yelling like that usually meant that she was going to be tortured. While she is strong on the battlefield and isn't exactly a child, She is delicate. You need to be more tactful if you want her to trust you Yang. " Shang Xiang knelt beside Yang before speaking. " Come here sister. I promise Yang won't hurt you. "

Tiānshî turned and looked toward Yang before cautiously moving toward Shang Xiang while keeping her eyes on Yang before Shang Xiang hugged her gently. " I won't let anyone hurt you sister. You are safe here. Yang is just... "

" Brazen? Rough? Hardcore? The toughest bitch in the city? " Yang smirked as Shang Xiang smiled as the other cooks laughed heartily before Yang shot them a look that said get back to work as they turned away cautiously and fell silent. " Shang is right little lamb. I won't hurt you. And I will do my best not to scare you. Any sibling of Shang's might as well be my own kid. Now let's get you cleaned up. " Yang picked up Tiānshî and slung her over her shoulder before walking out of the kitchen as Tiānshî looked toward Shang Xiang with a bewildered look on her face as Shang Xiang giggled softly.

An Hour Later

" I really am sorry for scaring you. It was not my intention to open your scars. " Yang spoke soothingly as she carefully wiped Tiānshî's face as Tiānshî watched her cautiously. " You are glaring at me as if I am going to randomly stab you. "

" How do I know you won't? I lost count of the times Cao Cao said he wouldn't hurt me only to torture me moments later. How can I trust people after that? " Tiānshî moved away as Yang finished wiping her face before pulling her knees up to her chest and sighing softly as Yang spoke.

" That is not a question anyone can answer for you little lamb. You need to find it within yourself to trust others again. You trust Shang right? " Yang spoke softly before Tiānshî sighed and glanced over her shoulder.

" My family are the only ones I know I can trust. I am still unsure about Lu Xun. Everyone else is yet to earn my trust. " Tiānshî spoke softly before turning away again as Yang sighed.

" After what you have been through, It is understandable to be cautious of others. But there is no-one in this city that will harm you. You are Lord Sun Jian's daughter. That alone is enough to ensure your safety within the city. Don't take my word for it though. Go and see for yourself. The villagers always need help. " Yang smiled before leaving the room and walking back to the kitchen as Tiānshî thought for a moment before leaving the room and walking out of the palace.

Evening

" Brother, Have you seen our sister today? I haven't been able to find her since this morning. " Shang Xiang spoke as she walked toward Sun Ce as he trained in the arena.

" I have not. Perhaps the guards on the gate might know? " Sun Ce spoke calmly but had a look of concern as he followed Shang Xiang to the gate. As they approached, The guards bowed before Shang Xiang spoke.

" I am searching for my sister. Have you seen her? " Shang Xiang looked concerned but her concern melted away as the guard nodded before pointing toward the farms outside the city and speaking.

" She has worked the fields all day. The harvest has proceeded quickly due to her efforts. The villagers have been able to rest while she works. The grain has all been collected and bagged, The corn has been harvested and is being tended and she has harvested the fruit orchard. In a day, She has done the work that would take many villagers weeks. It is most impressive to watch. " The guard smiled as Shang Xiang sighed in relief before watching Tiānshî work. After the sun fell beyond the horizon, Tiānshî walked back into the city. As she walked past the gate, She heard Shang Xiang's voice.

" You worked hard today. I have to admit, Working the fields is not something I expected you to be doing. " Shang Xiang had a surprised tone of voice as she walked over to Tiānshî, Who was covered in dirt and looked exhausted.

" Neither did I. But the villagers needed help and I was in a position to give it. Also, spending the day working the field was... Soothing. It cleared my mind and allowed me to think. " Tiānshî groaned softly as her body ached. " Although it reminded me of tending my herb garden, I really need a bath now. "

" I imagine so. Come with me sister. " Shang Xiang smiled as Tiānshî nodded and followed her to the palace. After entering the palace, Shang Xiang led her through a hallway that seemed to descend deeper. After a few minutes, Shang Xiang pushed open a door to show an immaculate room. The baths were built into the floor and appeared to be heated from beneath the room. The walls were lined with shelves of small bottles containing coloured liquids. As Tiānshî walked in, Shang Xiang spoke.

" Father had this room built as a gift on my eighteenth birthday. I received many gifts that day but this will always be my favourite. The bottles contain scented oils made from local herbs, Spices and fruits. Pick whichever oils you like sister and let me care for you. Hard work should always be rewarded. " Shang Xiang smiled before undressing and stepping into one of the baths. After a few minutes, Tiānshî picked out a bottle of purple liquid, A bottle of red liquid and a bottle of pale pink liquid. As she walked to the bath and handed them to Shang Xiang, She spoke softly.

" Interesting. Lavender, Rose and Hibiscus. You have curious tastes sister. " Shang Xiang giggled as Tiānshî stepped into the water and sighed as the ache in her muscles melted away.

" Everyone I once knew said the same. " Tiānshî sighed sadly as Shang Xiang waded over to her and hugged her gently. " The day they were killed, I was gathering herbs to make medicine. That was one thing I was always good at. Making medicine. It always tasted terrible but it was always effective. My mother used to tell me that I had a gift. That I was special. The last words she said to me was that I could help so many people when I grew up. Then... " Tiānshî paused as she bit her lip before sighing loudly and continuing. " Then I buried what was left of her. Buried what was left of everyone that mattered to me. Except my big sister. All that was left of her was her scarf that mother helped me make for her birthday in a pool of blood. Cao Cao even took that from me. "

" We will make all that pain go away sister. But right now... " Shang Xiang giggled as Tiānshî sighed softly while Shang Xiang massaged her shoulders gently. " Right now, You are going to relax, Let the oils work and let me take care of you. "

" But... " Tiānshî gasped softly as Shang Xiang squeezed her shoulders slightly.

" I will have none of that thank you. I was not asking. Now just relax. You have been working hard all day. " Shang Xiang smiled as Tiānshî leant against her as Shang Xiang continued massaging her shoulders gently.

Two Weeks Later

After working in the fields with the villagers for two weeks, Tiānshî sat in the bath in the palace as the hot water and oils melted the ache away from her muscles. After relaxing in the bath for about half an hour, Tiānshî walked tenderly to her room and got dressed before walking to the dining room and sitting down with her family as they ate and spoke.

" We were wondering if you would join us tonight daughter. " Sun Jian smiled as Tiānshî giggled.

" I am sorry I haven't been dining with the family father. I have been... " Tiānshî paused as Sun Ce spoke after chuckling softly.

" Busy. I watched you work today kiddo. You have no idea how thankful the villagers are. Your efforts have made their lives easier. " Sun Ce smiled as Sun Jian spoke.

" I am very proud of you Tiānshî. Helping our people is a very admirable pursuit. " Sun Jian smiled before chuckling softly. " They are very thankful and have found a way to thank you for your efforts. Will you walk with me? "

" Of course father. " Tiānshî smiled before standing and followed Sun Jian out of the palace as Shang Xiang whispered to Sun Ce.

" She is gonna lose her mind when she sees it. " Shang Xiang giggled before Sun Ce nudged her and motioned toward Tiānshî before the two of them quietly followed her and Sun Jian. As they walked through the village, Several of the children ran over and tackled Tiānshî. As they laughed, Tiānshî giggled softly and picked up the smallest as the others walked behind her. As they were walking, Tiānshî caught glimpses of what appeared to be a large tent to the side of the city. As she asked Sun Jian what it was, The children gripped her hand tightly and pulled her quickly down the street until she was standing in front of the tent with a bewildered look on her face.

" Children what is this? Have you been hiding treats again? Yang will be mad you know. " Tiānshî giggled as the children laughed and giggled before the child she was carrying spoke softly.

" That isn't stolen treats Lady Tiānshî. It is a present for you. My mommy said that the adults wanted to make you feel at home here so... " The little girl giggled playfully as the villagers standing nearby pulled several ropes, Making the tent fall away as Tiānshî looked toward it with wonder and shock on her face as the little girl continued.

" So the adults built you a new home. " The little girl smiled as Tiānshî put her down and she ran to her mother as tears built up in Tiānshî's eyes slowly.

" This... This is for me? " Tiānshî looked overwhelmed as the villagers smiled toward her as tears slowly rolled down her cheeks. " You built me a home... But I didn't want anything in return for helping you! I did it because you needed it... "

" We know. " The little girl's father walked over and put a hand on Tiānshî's shoulder as he spoke calmly. " We know you wanted nothing in return. But you have worked harder than all of us combined in the last two weeks and the children overheard Lady Xiang saying that you seemed uncomfortable in the palace. So, We took it upon ourselves to make somewhere you will always be safe and comfortable. We know you are slow to trust others and you have been through much in your young life. So we wanted to bring a little happiness back into your heart. As a thank you for making all of our lives not only easier, But richer for your efforts. "

" I... I don't know what to say... " Tiānshî sniffled softly as she looked at the large doors of her new home. The walls were solid stone with intricate floral carvings and were painted black with the floral carvings filled with a pale pink, The doors were solid, Thick, Dark brown wooden doors with small, Silver, Dragon head shaped door knobs with large metal rings in the mouths. After a moment, The little girl's father spoke again.

" We may not all be warriors like you. But we are many. Everyone in the city has helped build your home. Even the children helped make lanterns and blankets. You are one of us. You belong in this city and are as much a part of it as we are. " The man smiled as Tiānshî cried softly before hugging him gently. As she stepped back, The children rushed forward and dragged her into the house to show her around.

Despite looking like a small house from the outside, It was considerably spacious internally. The carpet was a fiery red with black floral patterns through it, The walls were traditionally decorated and had small paintings that the children had painted for her, The living area had a large, Circular fireplace in the middle of the room with curved seats that were covered in cushions of different sizes, The kitchen was large and had plenty of storage space with shelves covered in bowls of fresh herbs and spices, The dining table was handmade from sturdy wood and had carefully made decorations carved into the edges that depicted dragons, The bed room was luxurious and had a huge bed with handmade pillows and blankets and a large cupboard for hanging her armour with sets of drawers for her clothes.

After the initial shock of her home wore off, The children dragged Tiānshî through a large door that led to the rear of the house. After blinking several times from the sunlight, Tiānshî gasped loudly at the sight. The back of the house had high walls with a large pond in the centre. Over the pond was a bridge that led to a large shed with hay all over the floor and a trough full of water. Around the edge of the garden, The pond flowed through a wide canal and joined back into the central pond from different directions as fish swam through the water. What caught her eye the most was the large, Square, Stone bath beside the large gate at the rear of the garden. As she walked toward it, One of the children spoke.

" Lady Xiang told my daddy that you like her bath house in the palace. Daddy is good at making ponds so he asked the builders for help and they made you your very own hot bath. It even has a waterfall! " The child giggled happily as Tiānshî took a deep breathe before sighing in wonder.

" This... This is so beautiful... " Tiānshî looked around as small pink petals floated through the air from the peach blossom trees in each corner of the garden. As she looked around, The child's father spoke.

" We picked this spot because it has a natural water spring nearby that flows just outside the city wall. We built your bath using that as the water source. Outside the wall of the city, A large wheel powered by the natural flow of the spring, Brings water up into the canal for your waterfall. The bath itself is built on top of a natural hot spring. The waterfall flows through a limestone canal so the water will always be fresh and shouldn't get any green goop or bugs in it. We have also arranged for a supply of oils like in Lady Xiang's bath house to be delivered once a month. So you can properly relax. " The villager smiled as Tiānshî put her hands over her mouth and cried softly for a few moments before speaking shakily.

" I... I have no words... This means so much to me... I can never thank you enough... " Tiānshî sobbed and sniffled softly as the children hugged her legs tightly while Sun Ce spoke from behind the crowd of villagers.

" Do you really think that our people did this so you could thank them? They did this because they wanted to thank YOU. This is how our city works sister. We all help and watch over each other. We are not simply a city of people living together. This entire city is one big family. And you are and always will be a part of it. " Sun Ce smiled as Tiānshî's lip trembled before she broke down into tears of joy as the children hugged her tightly. After several minutes, Tiānshî stood and wiped her tears away slowly.

" I couldn't ask for a better home or a better family. This means so much to me. " Tiānshî smiled brightly before an older woman walked over with a girl that looked slightly younger than Tiānshî hiding behind her nervously and spoke calmly.

" My lady... If I could trouble you for a favour... " The woman spoke softly as Tiānshî looked toward her.

" Of course! Anything... " Tiānshî smiled as the woman smiled and pulled the young girl out from behind her and spoke.

" This is my daughter. Her name is Xieren. She is aspiring to be a cook at the palace but our kitchen is far too small and the palace kitchen far too busy for her to practice. If it would please you, Might she cook for you? She is a dependable girl and won't cause any trouble. " The woman nudged her daughter gently before she stepped forward and bowed.

" He... Hello Lady Tiānshî... It's an honour to meet you... " Xieren squirmed nervously before Tiānshî petted her head gently.

" You aren't much younger than I am are you Xieren? " Tiānshî giggled softly as Xieren looked toward her with confusion. " I am sixteen. "

" What?! " Xieren looked shocked as she spoke loudly before the villagers around her laughed happily at her reaction. " You... You are a year older than me! We are almost the same age! " Xieren's face lit up with excitement as Tiānshî giggled happily.

" It will be nice having someone my own age around. I would be honoured to have you stay with me and cook for me Xieren. " Tiānshî smiled happily as Xieren blushed lightly and spoke.

" You... You can call me Ren if you like... Also... If I stay here with you... Is it alright if... If I be your handmaiden instead of just your cook? That way I learn more than just food... " Xieren blushed slightly brighter as Tiānshî nodded and spoke.

" In that case you can just call me Tiānshî. You don't need to call me lady all the time. " Tiānshî smiled and giggled softly as Xieren stepped back and went bright red before speaking.

" I... I couldn't! Calling you Lady Tiānshî is proper! " Xieren looked nervous as Tiānshî pulled her forward and hugged her gently.

" I would prefer it if we could be friends Ren. I don't want to be treated any different to anyone else here. Even if you are my handmaiden. " Tiānshî smiled as Xieren squirmed slightly before sighing and hugging Tiānshî gently. After a moment, Xieren spoke before she could think.

" Wow... You smell really nice... " Xieren gasped softly as Tiānshî stepped back quickly and blushed brightly as Xieren blinked confusedly before blushing furiously. " Wait... What did I just say?! "

" It... It's alright Ren. Caught me by surprise but it's alright. Thank you. " Tiānshî smiled happily as Xieren blushed brightly again and glanced away sheepishly before Sun Ce walked forward.

" I will have your armour and blades brought here. For now, Why don't you settle in sister? I'll make sure Xieren has everything she needs as well. You just relax and let me handle everything. You have earned this. " Sun Ce smiled as Tiānshî hugged him lovingly.

" Thank you brother. I appreciate it. " Tiānshî smiled as Sun Ce tousled her hair before everyone left to let Tiānshî settle into her new home. After everyone left, Tiānshî undressed and stepped into the hot spring while sighing softly at the feeling of the water as it melted away her exhaustion and the ache in her muscles. After several minutes, Tiānshî stood and waded over to the waterfall, Sighing happily as the water poured over her body. As she turned around, Tiānshî saw Xieren staring at her with a terrified look on her face before Xieren blushed brightly and quickly turned away as she spoke.

" I am so sorry my lady! I had no idea you were bathing! I swear! " Xieren groaned softly before thinking to herself. " You idiot! You should have announced yourself! Now she will think you are weird! "

" Come here Ren. " Tiānshî spoke calmly before turning back around and letting the water from the waterfall cascade over her face as Xieren walked toward her cautiously as her cheeks burned and turned bright red.

" Y... Yes my lady? " Xieren whimpered softly as she stared at the numerous scars on Tiānshî's back before Tiānshî spoke softly.

" Are you nervous? " Tiānshî glanced over her shoulder as Xieren spoke softly.

" Y... Yes... " Xieren continued blushing as Tiānshî spoke.

" Are my scars unsightly? " Tiānshî had a sad tone of voice before Xieren snapped out of her fixation and glanced away.

" N... No my lady. It's just... " Xieren whimpered softly as her mouth moved before her brain processed the words. " You are so beautiful and I have never seen anyone naked before and seeing you like this makes me feel like I have butterflies in my stomach and I don't understand it. " After she finished speaking, Xieren's brain kicked in and she turned away while speaking as she blushed furiously. " What is wrong with me?! Why do I keep saying things without thinking?! "

Tiānshî giggled softly before speaking as she glanced over her shoulder. " I find it quite endearing actually. And the faces you make when you do it are so adorable. " Tiānshî giggled softly as Xieren looked back toward her.

" I am sorry, I just... I can't explain it. I don't understand why I feel like this. " Xieren sighed softly before gasping loudly as Shang Xiang spoke from behind her.

" I do but I will let you figure it out on your own. " Shang Xiang giggled as Tiānshî whipped around and smiled brightly.

" Sister! " Tiānshî smiled happily as Shang Xiang undressed before stepping into the water and wading over to Tiānshî before hugging her lovingly.

" Do you like your present sister? " Shang Xiang petted Tiānshî's head gently before kissing her forehead tenderly as Tiānshî sighed happily.

" I adore my home. I didn't think I could feel so happy or so peaceful but this alone has taken away so much of my pain. " Tiānshî hummed softly as she nuzzled against Shang Xiang's chest before Xieren spoke.

" Pain? You... You mean your scars? " Xieren gasped softly as Shang Xiang shot her a disapproving look as Tiānshî spoke.

" Yes and No. I was tortured in Wei for seven years before Lu Xun brought me here. I thought for a long time that pain was all I would ever know. But being here, Having my own home... I can see that there is so much that I missed out on while I was a prisoner. " Tiānshî sighed softly before stepping back under the waterfall as Xieren stepped into the water before wading over and wrapping her arms around Tiānshî and hugging her tightly.

" If there is anything I can do... Anything... I want to help take your pain away to. Even if your scars scare me a little, I want to help make you feel like you belong here. " Xieren nuzzled against Tiānshî's back gently before realising what she was doing and gasping loudly before quickly moving to the edge of the bath and speaking rapidly. " I am so sorry! I didn't mean to invade your personal space like that or make any presumptuous statements! I am so sorry! "

" Considering where your hands were, I am not sure that should be your first concern... " Tiānshî blushed lightly before covering her breasts defensively and sitting down in the water with an unsure look on her face as Xieren blushed lightly. " I can't decide if I should slap you for that or admit how much I liked it... "

" I... You... Uhm... Mmm... " Xieren couldn't voice her words as she blushed brightly and hid her face in her hands as she managed to speak coherently. " Why am I so hopeless... "

" Not exactly what I would call it. You are closer to expressive than hopeless. Even if you express yourself without thinking first. " Shang Xiang giggled before turning to Tiānshî. " Are you really going to let that cute little thing touch you like that and do nothing about it? "

" Shang! I don't even know what I am feeling! How am I supposed to know what to do about it?! " Tiānshî blushed brightly as Shang Xiang giggled before sitting down and leaning against the edge of the bath.

" I would have kissed her. " Shang Xiang grinned as both Tiānshî and Xieren blushed brightly before turning away from each other. After a few moments of silence, Xieren spoke nervously.

" I... Uhm... I am... I am going to go cook dinner... Please excuse me... " Xieren stood and bowed politely before walking into the house slowly. Before closing the door, Xieren glanced over her shoulder toward Tiānshî with a look of longing in her eyes before the door closed with a soft thud as Shang Xiang spoke.

" Poor thing. Maybe she was hoping you would kiss her? " Shang Xiang smiled as Tiānshî splashed her.

" You do realise that you are an obscenely bad influence right? " Tiānshî smirked as Shang Xiang feigned offence before smiling and speaking.

" The very worst influence in all the very best ways. I was being serious though. If a pretty girl like her touched me like that, I really would have kissed her. And she really did look disappointed. Even if she didn't intend to touch you like that. " Shang Xiang smiled as Tiānshî sighed loudly.

" Shang, I only just got here. I haven't spent any time with her and I don't know her very well yet. How can I know if this weird bubbling in my stomach is even a feeling at all? Maybe I am sick or ate something funny. " Tiānshî sighed softly as she pulled her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them as Shang Xiang spoke.

" I think you do know what it is. But you are not sure if you deserve to feel it or not. Look, I spoke with Lu Xun. He does like you. A lot in fact. But he isn't ready for anything serious nor does he want to put more stress on you. Why not enjoy things here with that girl until you figure out what you really want? " Shang Xiang smiled as Tiānshî groaned softly.

" But what if it turns serious and then Lu Xun tries something and everything gets awkward for everyone and it wrecks everything I have now and... " Tiānshî fell silent as Shang Xiang put a finger on her lips.

" You are clearly unsettled by this sister so how about this... Give it a week. Xieren is going to be staying here with you as your handmaiden right? Why not get to know her over the next week. She is going to be with you wherever you go anyway. If after a week you can look me in the eye and say you feel nothing, I will drop it. Otherwise, You have to admit what you are feeling and do something about it. Fair? " Shang Xiang smiled cheekily as Tiānshî sighed softly.

" Fair. You are still a bad influence though. Even if I love having you as my sister. " Tiānshî smiled as Shang Xiang pulled her on to her lap and starting washing Tiānshî's hair carefully.

" You are the best little sister I could ask for sweety. Just know that everything I do to push you is in your best interest. " Shang Xiang kissed Tiānshî's head gently as she sighed.

" I know sister. I appreciate it. I just don't know if I am ready for all of this. " Tiānshî paused as Xieren walked outside nervously while carrying a tray with a teapot and cups on it before kneeling at the edge of the bath and pouring the tea as she spoke.

" I... I made you some tea my lady. I am sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable. " Xieren bowed politely before handing a cup of tea to Tiānshî and Shang Xiang after they waded over.

" You didn't. Honestly, I am really uncomfortable with people touching me but... There are people who have the opposite effect. Shang's touch has been gentle and soothing since the moment I met her. And even though it surprises me and I didn't expect it... You... " Tiānshî whimpered softly before glancing toward Shang for a moment and continuing. " The way you touched me made me feel something I really don't understand. It was... Well... It made my whole body feel hot and it scared me a little. No-one has ever made me feel like that. "

" You... You aren't angry with me? " Xieren bit her lip nervously before Tiānshî reached up and touched her cheek tenderly.

" No. I am not mad. I don't have a word for what I am feeling and even though I really want to explore it... I need to get to know you first. Will... Will you join me and answer some questions? " Tiānshî blushed lightly as Xieren spoke nervously.

" You... You want me to bathe with you? " Xieren blushed brightly as Tiānshî blushed brighter and whimpered softly for a moment before Shang Xiang spoke.

" In my sisters defence, You saw her naked first. It is only fair. " Shang Xiang grinned as Tiānshîglared at her before speaking.

" I think I know where Lu Xun learned to be a pervert now. " Tiānshî pouted as Shang Xiang poked her tongue out before they noticed Xieren's clothes fall to the ground as she whimpered softly. As Tiānshî looked toward Xieren, She felt her heart stop for a moment before it started beating increasingly faster as Xieren stepped into the water. " M... My... "

" Sister? Are you alright? " Shang Xiang moved over to Tiānshî quickly and put herself between Tiānshî and Xieren as Tiānshî whispered.

" My heart just stopped and then started beating faster... What is wrong with me?! " Tiānshî blushed brightly as Shang Xiang giggled and waded over to the side of the bath before drying off and getting dressed as she looked toward Xieren.

" She is extremely attracted to you and if she doesn't do something about it her heart might explode. Help her with that yeah? " Shang Xiang grinned before darting toward the house as Tiānshî growled irritably and Xieren blushed furiously. After several moments of awkward silence, Xieren edged closer to Tiānshî as she spoke.

" S... So... W... What would you like to know... " Xieren whimpered softly as she sat down so the water covered up to her neck and blushed brightly as Tiānshî turned toward her.
