Beginning Of The End
Chapter 5
" S... So... W... What would you like to know? " Xieren whimpered softly before Tiānshî turned to face her and spoke softly.
" Why do you make me feel like this... " Tiānshî spoke without thinking as Xieren blushed lightly.
" I... I don't know but I feel it too... I don't understand it... " Xieren sighed softly before speaking. " As much as I want to explore it as well my lady, I do not think that is what Lady Xiang meant when she said to get to know me. "
" You heard all that?! " Tiānshî blushed furiously before hiding her face in her hands as Xieren spoke.
" Yes. And it made my heart ache for you... But I don't want to make any mistakes or ruin this before anything starts. Can... Can we be friends until we have gotten to know each other... Please? " Xieren spoke nervously and trembled as she blushed but sighed in relief as Tiānshî nodded. " Thank you... I know it is hard. It is so hard... "
" Y... Yeah... " Tiānshî blushed lightly before whimpering and speaking slowly. " So tell me about yourself. I want to know as much as you want to tell me. "
" Well... To start out... My favourite things are playing my flute and cooking. My favourite colour is pink and my hobbies are reading, Flower arrangements and I am obsessed with butterflies. What about you? " Xieren smiled warmly as she poured herself a cup of tea as Tiānshî spoke.
" My favourite things are making ribbons for my family, Drawing and singing. My favourite food is spiced sweet rice congee with fried dough sticks. My sister used to make it for breakfast. My favourite colour is black. My hobbies are making medicine, Growing herbs and spices and I love butterflies too. There were heaps of butterflies in my herb garden. I was born in a village south west of Wu Ling on the Yuan River. " Tiānshî smiled as Xieren giggled.
" And here I thought you were just a cute, Tough girl with scars. Whatever was I thinking? " Xieren smiled teasingly as Tiānshî blushed lightly before speaking.
" Y... Yeah... Tell me more about yourself? " Tiānshî smiled nervously as Xieren spoke.
" Well I was born here in the city and grew up here. My father died when I was young and mother has struggled to raise me on her own. She worked really hard while I was little. Once I was old enough, I asked her to teach me how to cook and have been doing it ever since. I haven't done it as a job yet but I hope to work in the palace one day. Serving the lords that protect us all would be such an honour. Almost as big an honour as it is to serve you my lady. " Xieren blushed lightly before continuing. " I know it is probably a touchy subject but... Will you tell me about... " Xieren bit her lip and turned away quickly. " No... Nevermind... "
" You want to know about my scars don't you... " Tiānshî spoke shakily and sighed sadly as Xieren turned to face her and nodded. " This is very hard and I will cry. But alright... "
" No. I don't want to see you upset. You don't have to tell me. " Xieren spoke sadly but was slightly taken aback as Tiānshî shook her head.
" You are wrong. I do have to tell you. Keeping this to myself is killing me Ren. Not talking about it is only going to make it worse. Ce was right. If I want to heal, I have to let people in. And you are going to be living with me. It will make things awkward if I don't tell you and I want us to be close. " Tiānshî smiled before taking a deep breathe and speaking. " I was at the river tending to my herbs and collecting what I needed for medicine when the horses rode past. Cao Cao and his guards went to my village for food and water while journeying to the capital of Wei. But... But they didn't leave with the same calm attitude. For some reason, They killed everyone in the village. My mother and father... My sister... Everyone I knew and loved was gone. I heard the screams from the river. "
" That... That is so... " Xieren looked horrified as Tiānshî nodded and continued.
" I buried my parents and the other villagers. But I couldn't find my sisters body. Just her scarf in a pool of blood. After I buried my family and friends... I followed Cao Cao. Somehow he knew I was coming and set a trap for me. I was nine when they captured me. I spent seven years in Wei. Of all the torture... The worst part was when I first arrived. Cao Cao sent women... I really don't know what else to call them but what they did to me... I had no idea it was possible to do that to a person. I still have nightmares about it. After those nights ended, Cao Cao would send the guards for me every few days and torture me personally. Every day was something different. Whipping, Choking, Cutting, Beating... He threatened to brand me once but I am glad he found the idea boring. He paraded me through his city bound and naked. He let his people torture me. It was... It was a very long... Very traumatising seven years. The scars... The scars haunt me even though I can't see half of them. " Tiānshî reached over her shoulder and ran her fingers over the top of her scars slowly as Xieren put her hands over her mouth and sobbed softly as Tiānshî continued. " There were so many times Cao Cao threatened to have his generals rape me. So many times he threatened to force others to use my body. He even threatened to do it himself many times but they never did. His generals weren't interested in me and Cao Cao just wanted me to feel pain. He had this delusion that eventually I would beg to be in his bed to make the pain go away. "
" My lady... I am so sorry... So sorry you had to endure that. " Tiānshî seemed in a daze as Xieren reached out and touched her cheek gently, Causing Tiānshî to gasp loudly and quickly back away in fear before realising that it was Xieren and crying softly.
" I am sorry... I didn't mean to do that... " Tiānshî cried softly as Xieren hugged her tenderly.
" It's okay. You are haunted by what you have been through. I would never say I understand what you have suffered but I now have an idea of how much you have suffered and I will do everything to make the pain go away. Everything and anything that I can. I don't want to see you cry... " Xieren tilted Tiānshî's head up before gently wiping her tears away and caressing her cheek carefully. " Seeing you happy... It was like watching the stars glitter in the night sky. It was radiant and beautiful and warmed my heart. I want to see you happy more oft... " Xieren fell silent as Tiānshî stood rapidly and pressed a fiery kiss to her lips. As Xieren blushed brightly, Tiānshî broke the kiss and stepped back before sniffling softly and sitting back down as she spoke.
" Sorry... That may have been out of line but you were saying such nice things and I felt so vulnerable and emotional and... It just... It felt right... Even though it was my first kiss and I have no idea what I am doing... " Tiānshî blushed as she turned away sadly. " I understand if you hate me for that. "
" Do it again... " Xieren spoke softly before Tiānshî turned to look at her in shock.
" You... I... What... " Tiānshî blushed brightly as Xieren shook her head before pulling Tiānshî forward and kissing her deeply. After several minutes, Xieren stepped away, Leaving Tiānshî breathless.
" I shouldn't have done that but it felt so damn good. Especially for my first kiss. We really should get to know each other and spend time together before anything serious but wow... Just... Wow... " Xieren sat on Tiānshî's lap before pressing another kiss to her lips as Tiānshî blushed brightly and seemed entranced. As they sat kissing, They both gasped loudly as Shang Xiang spoke as she walked in.
" Hey s... Well well. So much for a week. " Shang Xiang grinned as Xieren quickly moved off Tiānshî's lap and looked away as Tiānshî spoke.
" Yeah that was the plan but I was telling Ren about growing up and what I went through in Wei and she was being really sweet and kind and saying nice things and uhm... I... I kissed her. " Tiānshî blushed brightly as Shang Xiang giggled.
" Better sooner than later. How was it? " Shang Xiang smiled as she walked over and laid on her stomach at the edge of the bath as Tiānshî sighed and seemed to melt into the water as she spoke.
" Shang it was the most amazing and perfect feeling. I don't really know how to explain it but I loved every second of it. " Tiānshî hummed contently while running her fingers over her lips as Xieren blushed brightly and whimpered cutely before Shang Xiang spoke.
" Sweety as much as I would like to leave you here with your girlfriend for more kisses and cuteness, Quan has asked to see you. " Shang Xiang poked her tongue out as Xieren shot her a glare before Tiānshî spoke.
" What for? I haven't seen him all week. " Tiānshî looked confused as Shang Xiang giggled.
" Which is why he wants to see you. Seems he has been out and about finding something to give you. Now kiss your sweetheart goodbye and get dressed. " Shang Xiang winked playfully before walking inside as Tiānshî and Xieren looked toward each other and blushed brightly before wading toward each other slowly as Tiānshî spoke.
" S... So... I... Uhm... I should go... " Tiānshî hummed softly as Xieren nodded.
" Y... Yeah... It sounded important. I... I will get dinner ready while you are gone... M... My lady... " Xieren whimpered as she blushed softly. " So... Uhm... About that goodbye kiss... "
" Because you totally need to ask after kissing me for the last five minutes. " Tiānshî grinned as Xieren pouted before moving forward quickly and kissing Tiānshî passionately. After a few minutes, Tiānshî got out and dried off before walking inside and getting dressed while Xieren continued to relax in the bath. After leaving the house, Tiānshî noticed Shang Xiang waiting for her. As she walked over, Shang Xiang spoke.
" Keep glowing like that and you will light up the whole city kiddo. " Shang Xiang giggled as Tiānshî pouted and blushed brightly.
" Sh... Shut up! I am allowed to glow! I just got kissed by the most beautiful girl I have met that isn't family or related to me for the last ten minutes! " Tiānshî whimpered softly before speaking slowly. " It's the first time I have felt this way okay... "
" I was just teasing sister. I'm sorry. " Shang Xiang hugged Tiānshî gently before pulling her toward the arena as she continued. " Now get a move on! Quan is getting impatient! "
" Of course he is. Quan is so straight edge that swords look bent by comparison. " Tiānshî laughed happily as Shang Xiang laughed so hard that tears rolled down her cheeks before she took a breathe and spoke hoarsely.
" I love you sister. " Shang Xiang continued laughing as they walked toward the arena. As they approached, Tiānshî saw Sun Quan, Sun Ce and a group of soldiers standing around the edge of the arena watching a soldier on horseback before he got tossed off by the horse and flew over the edge of the arena before crashing through a pile of barrels as Sun Ce spoke.
" That's fifteen brother. Pay up. " Sun Ce grinned as Sun Quan dropped several coins into his hand while grumbling disappointingly. After a moment, Sun Ce spoke cheerily. " Ah! There is our little warrior princess. Where you been little sis? "
" Uhm... Well... I... " Tiānshî blushed brightly as Shang Xiang spoke.
" She has been busy smooching with her new girlfriend. " Shang Xiang giggled playfully as Sun Ce and Sun Quan mimicked cute noises and laughed teasingly before Sun Ce tousled Tiānshî's hair as she spoke.
" I hate you all so much right now... " Tiānshî blushed brightly as she hid her face in her hands embarrassingly before Sun Ce spoke.
" We love you to sis. Now, Quan has something to show you. " Sun Ce playfully shoved Tiānshî toward the arena as Shang Xiang walked over to him as he whispered to her. " Do I need to talk with this girlfriend? "
" She beat you to it. They are already super close and they have only known each other a day. They are diabolically cute and sweet together too. You should have seen how lovey they were when I showed up. Not that our sister would ever want you to see her naked. " Shang Xiang grinned as Sun Ce sighed.
" Neither would I but, Good. She needs someone special in her life. " Sun Ce smiled as Sun Quan started speaking.
" Took you long enough sister. Thought I would have to give your gift to one of the soldiers but your gift had other ideas. " Sun Quan grinned as Tiānshî looked toward the horse that was trotting aggressively around the arena before she spoke excitedly.
" You got me a horse?! That's three times my size Quan! How am I supposed to ride it?! " Tiānshî looked stunned as Sun Quan laughed before realising she had handed him an opportunity.
" Well I would suggest using a saddle and holding on really tight. " Sun Quan laughed as Tiānshî blushed lightly and pouted before he continued. " In all seriousness sister, This horse was a pain to find and capture and has so far, Shown no intent of cooperating. Ce and I have been placing bets on who could... " Sun Quan froze as Tiānshî climbed over the arena fence as she spoke.
" Twenty coins says I succeed. " Tiānshî smirked before sidestepping the horse as it tried to kick her and swinging herself on to the saddle as the horse tried to throw her off as the soldiers spoke loudly.
" Has she gone mad?! "
" Don't know that she was sane to begin with. You saw her at the battle. "
" Ten coins says she falls off. "
" You're on. "
" Listen to them. They doubt her even after they witnessed her fight. What say you to the odds brother? " Sun Quan smirked as Sun Ce scoffed.
" I'll take her bet. Twenty says she succeeds. " Sun Ce grinned as Sun Quan turned to Shang Xiang.
" And you sister? " Sun Quan smiled as Shang Xiang giggled.
" Let's make it interesting. A hundred coins is my bet that she succeeds and the losers wear my pink dresses to dinner for a week. " Shang Xiang grinned cheekily as Sun Quan and Sun Ce laughed heartily.
" Trust you to up the stakes. You're on. " Sun Quan grinned as Sun Ce agreed and they turned to watch Tiānshî as she held tightly to the reins as the horse kicked and tried as hard as it could to throw her off.
" Easy... I don't want to hurt you... " Tiānshî spoke calmly as the horse huffed and stood still for a moment before rushing to the edge of the arena and slamming into the fence before Tiānshî's leg made a loud cracking sound and she yelled painfully but held tight to the reins as the horse continued trying to throw her off. After roughly half an hour, The horse panted heavily before laying down before Tiānshî got off the saddle and fell to the ground as her leg made a second, Louder crunching noise before she spoke softly. " You are a feisty one aren't you... "
Tiānshî grinned as the horse nudged her face with it's nose before huffing loudly as she petted it's head gently while it nibbled at her hand affectionately before Sun Ce spoke.
" I'll be damned... " Sun Ce looked shocked as Shang Xiang grinned and spoke happily.
" Won't doubt her ever again will you brothers? " Shang Xiang smiled as Tiānshî crawled over to her and reached up before Shang Xiang pulled her out of the arena and carried her home.
" Well then... Dresses at dinner for us. Father will be so impressed. " Sun Quan groaned softly as both he and Sun Ce turned and followed Shang Xiang back to Tiānshî's house. As they entered, Xieren spoke happily.
" Back so soo... WHAT HAPPENED?! " Xieren looked horrified before rushing over to Tiānshî as Shang Xiang placed her in a chair before Xieren rushed into her room and got a bandage out of one of her drawers before rushing back to Tiānshî and bandaging her leg tightly as Shang Xiang spoke.
" She rode a horse. Also, Do you just keep bandages in your bedroom? Really? " Shang Xiang smiled as Tiānshî giggled while Xieren shot Shang Xiang a disapproving look before Tiānshî spoke.
" Won the bet though didn't I? " Tiānshî smirked but looked surprised as both Sun Ce and Sun Quan groaned loudly before Shang Xiang spoke happily.
" You have no idea. Pay the lady. " Shang Xiang looked toward Sun Ce and Sun Quan as they both placed one hundred coins on the table in front of Tiānshî. " Oh, I can't wait to see you boys all dolled up in my fancy dresses. "
" They won't fit us. " Sun Ce grinned but looked surprised as Shang Xiang grabbed his shirt and pulled him close before speaking sternly.
" I'll make them fit wise ass. " Shang Xiang smirked as Tiānshî looked at all the coins on the table.
" This is mine? But I only bet twenty! And I don't even have twenty! " Tiānshî looked away sheepishly as Shang Xiang shoved Sun Ce playfully before speaking.
" And I bet them one hundred. But my prize is having them wear my dresses to dinner at your house all week. " Shang Xiang paused as Sun Ce spoke.
" That wasn't the bet! You're changing the rules! " Sun Ce looked as if he was feeling cheated before Shang Xiang laughed and spoke.
" I never said where dinner would be. Only that you had to wear dresses. But if you would prefer to dine with father and Yang in those dresses, I certainly won't stop you. " Shang Xiang smirked expectantly as Sun Ce and Sun Quan looked at each other before speaking in unison.
" Here is good! "
" That is what I thought. " Shang Xiang smirked before continuing. " Now let's go back to the palace so Tiānshî can have dinner with her girlfriend. "
" Shang! " Tiānshî shot her an irritated look as Sun Ce, Sun Quan and Shang Xiang darted out of the house before Tiānshî sighed exhaustively but smiled happily. " Having siblings sure is a lot of work. "
" It's worth it though right? " Xieren smiled happily as Tiānshî sighed and nodded before Xieren kissed her cheek gently and placed a plate of food in front of her and sat down with her own plate.
" Yeah it is. I love having a family again. " Tiānshî smiled before eating her food happily. As she finished eating, A knock on the door echoed through the house. As Tiānshî sat at the table nursing her injured leg, Xieren answered the door to see a royal messenger waiting.
" May I help you sir? " Xieren smiled warmly as the messenger cleared his throat before speaking.
" Lord Sun Jian formally requests his daughters presence in the war room as soon as she is able. It is a matter of utmost importance. " The messenger bowed politely as Xieren spoke.
" I will inform my lady and see her ready at once. Please inform Lord Sun Jian that she will be present within the hour. " Xieren bowed politely as the messenger nodded and walked back to the palace before Xieren closed the door and rushed into the kitchen as she spoke. " My lady, Your father has requested your presence in the war room as soon as possible. Shall I prepare your armour or do you prefer something more comfortable? "
" Something comfortable please. My armour takes too long to put on. " Tiānshî smiled before teetering haphazardly as she took the plates to the kitchen while Xieren walked to her room and pulled a dress out of her wardrobe before walking back to Tiānshî and speaking.
" I haven't been able to buy you clothes yet. But you can borrow my favourite dress if you like. " Xieren squirmed slightly as she held the dress up.
" I... I would like that... " Tiānshî whimpered softly before undressing and pulling the dress over her head. The chest was slightly tighter than she expected but otherwise the dress was a good fit. " Thank you Ren... I really appreciate you taking care of me. " Tiānshî blushed brightly as Xieren caressed her cheek tenderly.
" It is my pleasure. Now go! You shouldn't keep your father waiting. " Xieren giggled softly as Tiānshî rushed out of the house as much as her leg would allow and carefully walked to the palace. Once she had arrived, The guards led her to the war room while eyeing how cute she looked in the dress Xieren leant her. After walking into the war room, Tiānshî listened quietly as Sun Jian spoke.
" Hulao Gate will be heavily defended and the pass is only crossed using a single bridge. This battle will put a great strain on our forces. Not to mention... " Sun Jian sighed in a stressed way before continuing. " Not to mention that Lu Bu himself will be there. "
" What?! " Shang Xiang had a terrified look on her face as she continued. " None of us are a match for him! "
" I will handle it. " Tiānshî spoke calmly as everyone looked toward her in shock. " The rest of you plan how to handle the rest and I will keep Lu Bu busy. " Tiānshî smiled as Sun Jian looked toward her in shock before speaking.
" Tiānshî, We are talking about the most fearsome warrior in China. His reputation alone scares off most other warriors. " Sun Jian spoke calmly but had a concerned look on his face as Tiānshî giggled.
" So imagine how much fear Cao Cao will feel when he finds out I defeated the most fearsome warrior in China. " Tiānshî smiled before leaving the war room as Sun Ce looked around.
" Is... Is she serious? " Sun Ce spoke with shock in his voice before Sun Jian sighed softly.
" Damned be anyone that tries to stop her. Very well, Let's focus on how to handle the rest of the forces. For the time being, Ce, Take Lu Xun and scout the battlefield. I need to know as much information about the area as you can get me. " Sun Jian sighed as Sun Ce left the room to find Lu Xun before continuing. " Now, We have reason to believe that Dong Zhuo has imprisoned the young Han Emperor and the Dowager somewhere within the fortress. Our mission is two fold. Take control of the city and locate the royal family to escort them to safety. The forces of Shu and Wei will be there as well. While Shu approaches from the east, Our forces will approach from the west and Wei from the south. While Wei will be present, I have reason to believe that Cao Cao may be secretly allying himself with Dong Zhuo in an attempt to undermine us. We cannot trust him. "
" Nor will Tiānshî do so. Sister will sooner cut off Cao Cao's head then assist him with anything. " Shang Xiang smiled as Sun Jian chuckled.
" As much as I trust her, I am not comfortable with Tiānshî taking on Lu Bu alone. Shang, I want you to stay nearby when she faces him. Be sure to intervene if she struggles. Do not let her get hurt and do not get hurt yourself. Am I clear? " Sun Jian spoke sternly but smiled as Shang Xiang nodded. " Good. Until Ce and Lu Xun return, We should devise a strategy for our attack. "
The Next Day
Tiānshî woke up slowly as the sun shone through her window before groaning loudly and covering her face with a pillow as Xieren walked in and spoke softly.
" Time to wake up my lady. Breakfast will be ready soon. Don't forget to brush your hair. " Xieren smiled but looked confused as Tiānshî rolled over and bundled herself in blankets before groaning softly. " My lady... "
Xieren paused as Tiānshî sat up for a moment, Hissed and laid back down before Xieren blushed lightly. " Okay, That was super cute but you have to get out of bed. "
Tiānshî groaned incoherently before covering her head with a pillow as Xieren sighed. " That is most unfortunate. I was going to ask you to help me undress so I can bathe. But if you prefer to sleep... Well... "
" I'm awake! " Tiānshî sat up rapidly as she blushed brightly while Xieren giggled.
" Thought that might motivate you. Come and eat breakfast then we can bathe okay? " Xieren smiled asTiānshî yawned before getting out of bed and teetering to the kitchen sleepily. As she sat down, Xieren placed a bowl and small plate in front of her before Tiānshî's eyes lit up.
" You... You made my favourite? " Tiānshî licked her lips slowly as Xieren spoke.
" Of course I did. But if you don't want it... " Xieren looked toward Tiānshî as she put her arms around the bowl and hissed as Xieren giggled. " That's what I thought little kitten. " Xieren smiled as Tiānshî blushed brightly and started eating her breakfast.
After finishing breakfast, Tiānshî and Xieren walked outside and got undressed before stepping into the bath and sighing softly. After a few minutes of relaxing, Xieren spoke softly.
" I heard there is a battle coming up. Will you be attending my lady? " Xieren had a nervous look on her face as Tiānshî spoke.
" Indeed I will. I will face Lu Bu at Hulao Gate. " Tiānshî hummed softly as she washed her hair as a horrified look crept over Xieren's face before she spoke.
" Have you lost your mind?! Lu Bu? Why in the name of all creation would you want to face him?! " Xieren spoke forcefully as she stood before Tiānshî sighed softly.
" Because I need to. I need to know what I am capable of and I need Wei to see that I am a force to be reckoned with. That they will answer for what they did to me. I need to face Lu Bu... So that I can learn who I really am... " Tiānshî sighed sadly before continuing. " Ever since I came here I have felt empty. Like my soul isn't even inside me. I need to know Ren... "
Xieren sighed softly before wading over and hugging Tiānshî tightly. " You better come back. If you don't, I will bring you back from the dead so I can slap you. "
" I will be fine. I promise. " Tiānshî held Xieren tenderly before stepping away and continuing to wash her hair. After getting out and drying off, Tiānshî heard a bell echo through the city before rushing inside as fast as her leg allowed and putting on her armour. After tying her blades to her sides, Tiānshî rushed outside to see Shang Xiang waiting for her. Tiānshî's horse was saddled and roughly twenty soldiers on horseback were lined up.
" There is smoke toward the border. We are going to check the area. Coming? " Shang Xiang smiled as Tiānshî climbed on to her horse before riding out of the city without a word. After climbing on to her horse, Shang Xiang and the soldiers followed but quickly fell behind as Tiānshî's horse thundered ahead at full pace while the other horses struggled to keep up.
" Damn that horse is fast... " Shang Xiang spoke with shock as the soldiers watched Tiānshî storm ahead with looks of surprise.
After a few minutes of riding, Tiānshî and Shang Xiang arrived at the area the smoke was coming from. It was clearly a camp but was very recently burned down. As they looked around, Tiānshî heard the sound of swords clashing and turned her horse toward the noise before riding quickly. As she rode over a small hill, She saw Sun Ce and Lu Xun surrounded by a platoon of Wei troops. Tiānshî rode straight toward them before jumping off her horse and drawing her blades in mid air before slamming into one of the soldiers while his bones made a sickening crunching noise.
As Tiānshî stood slowly, Causing her injured leg to make small popping noises, A look of rage filled her eyes before the Wei troops turned to look at her with looks of shock before she spoke. " You will not leave here alive. "
After speaking, Tiānshî charged forward haphazardly and jammed her blade through the eye slit of one soldiers helmet while blocking a blow with her other sword. After pulling her blade free from the helmet, Tiānshî spun and slashed across the second soldiers chest as Shang Xiang rode over the hill with the other troops before Tiānshî turned and reengaged the remaining soldiers.
A Few Minutes Later
" We managed to keep one alive... Despite Tiānshî's rage... " Shang Xiang panted heavily as Sun Ce managed to catch his breathe.
" They put up a solid fight given that they are average soldiers. " Sun Ce groaned softly as his muscles ached before Shang Xiang spoke.
" I think half of that struggle was the numbers. You did good to keep them busy until we arrived brother. Although, We wouldn't be here at all if the guards hadn't seen the smoke. " Shang Xiang smiled as Sun Ce laughed.
" Told Xun that burning the camp was a good idea. We saw them coming and had time to set the fires. Luck was on our side today. " Sun Ce smiled before Tiānshî stormed past him despite the pain in her leg and grabbed the prisoner as she spoke forcefully.
" Why were you sent here? SPEAK! " Tiānshî looked outraged as the prisoner spoke shakily.
" We were ordered to set up an ambush. Lord Cao Cao received word that you would be riding along this route so he sent us to capture you. " The prisoner groaned as Tiānshî threw him to the ground before speaking.
" Where would he even get that kind of information... Surely we would know if he had spies here... " Tiānshî thought for a moment but gasped as Shang Xiang spoke.
" I told him. " Shang Xiang smiled as Tiānshî rounded on her.
" YOU WHAT?! " Tiānshî looked furious but calmed down as Shang Xiang explained.
" After you left, Father made a point that we cannot trust Wei at Hulao Gate. A while back, I captured a Wei messenger pigeon and kept it. So after you left the war room, I sent the pigeon to Wei with a note for Cao Cao telling him you would be on the road today. I needed to know for certain if he would try anything. Now we can be sure that Wei cannot be trusted. " Shang Xiang walked past Tiānshî and spoke to the prisoner as she knelt down. " Cao Cao plans to turn on us at Hulao Gate and side with Dong Zhuo doesn't he? "
" I will tell you nothing. " The soldier spat on the ground as Shang Xiang stood and looked toward one of her soldiers.
" Very well. Send his head back to Cao Cao in a basket. " Shang Xiang walked away as a look of shock appeared on Tiānshî's face. As the soldiers forced the prisoner onto his knees, He spoke quickly.
" Wait! I'll tell you! Just let me live! " The prisoner had a terrified look on his face as Shang Xiang turned and spoke.
" Lie to me and I will cut off your limbs first. Answer my question. " Shang Xiang had a fierce look in her eyes as the prisoner spoke.
" Yes. He intends to side with Dong Zhuo and ambush Lady Tiānshî. He knows that she will not resist facing Lord Lu Bu. He is too great an opponent for her to ignore. Lord Cao Cao knows that she wants to test herself. He intends to capture her and have the men in the army rape her until she begs to be his concubine. " The prisoner breathed heavily before speaking again. " I answere... "
" Go back to your Lord and tell him that you failed to capture her. Tell him that the information that she was travelling alone was false and that you were overwhelmed by her guards. Give him nothing else or I will hunt you down and gut you like a pig. Am I clear? " Shang Xiang had a menacing look in her eye as the prisoner nodded silently before she threw him back to the waiting arms of the soldiers and spoke. " Escort him to the border. Try not to get killed before or after he leaves. "
The soldiers nodded before tying the prisoner to one of the saddles with a long rope before heading toward the border as everyone else climbed on to their horses and rode back to the capital.
Evening
" That insolent swine! How dare he send men into my kingdom to capture my daughter! I will see him burn for this! " Sun Jian spoke with outrage after Shang Xiang explained what happened and who caused it. " Shang, You placed your brother and Lu Xun in great danger with your actions. But I do admit, Knowing that Wei will betray us is absolutely invaluable. Send a messenger to Shu at once. They must hear of this as well if we are to be prepared. We give Wei no inclination that we are aware. Let them think that they have the upper hand. We go along with the plan. Tiānshî will face Lu Bu at Hulao Gate and we will handle Wei when they act. " Sun Jian left the war room as everyone nodded and headed to bed. Before going to her room, Shang Xiang sent a messenger pigeon to Shu with the information of Wei's plan.
One Week Later
" Your information was accurate Ce. Well done. " Sun Jian spoke calmly as he looked over the battlefield of Hulao Gate and toward the fortress from the hillside that the Wu Army was camped upon. " Is the army ready? "
" We are father. Everyone is prepared and Shu has sent us a message of the plans they have made to intercept Wei. Lord Guan Yu will oversee it personally while Lords Liu Bei and Zhang Fe assault the fortress. With both Guan Yu and Shang watching over her, I am confident that Tiānshî can engage Lu Bu with little interference from Wei. " Sun Ce spoke with confidence before Sun Jian nodded approvingly.
" Good. Thank you son. Let's all get some rest. Tomorrow will be a very long day. " Sun Jian smiled as Sun Ce nodded and walked back to his tent while Sun Jian looked back toward the fortress.
Battle Of Hulao Gate.
Tiānshî awoke earlier than everyone else and polished her armour before sharpening her blades and making sure her horse was fed and saddled properly.
" Today is the day... I will finally see for myself who I am. Wei will finally learn to fear me and Cao Cao will pay for what he did to me and my family. " Tiānshî sighed softly before her horse nudged her tenderly. " You will stay with me, Won't you? "
Tiānshî smiled as her horse nudged her face affectionately. Before she realised that she hadn't named him. " Hmm... What would be a good name for you... " Tiānshî thought for a moment before smiling and speaking. " I think Móguî suits you. What do you think? " Tiānshî giggled as Móguî grunted approvingly before she picked up a brush and started brushing his mane gently. " Stay with me Móguî. I will need you. "
Tiānshî smiled as Móguî nudged her playfully before nibbling the side of her shirt affectionately as she continued brushing his mane. As Tiānshî finished brushing Móguî's mane, Shang Xiang walked over with a nervous look on her face.
" It is time sister. Are you absolutely sure about this? Lu Bu is... " Shang Xiang paused as Tiānshî turned to look at her with a fierce determination and absolute confidence in her eyes as she spoke.
" Is mine. Do not try to talk me out of it. " Tiānshî walked past Shang Xiang and into her tent as Shang Xiang shivered slightly. After putting on her armour and tying her blades to her sides, Tiānshî walked out of her tent and climbed on to Mógui before riding to the front of the army where Sun Jian was waiting. As they looked out over the battlefield, Tiānshî saw Lu Bu atop his legendary horse, Red Hare, Waiting outside the main gate of the fortress. Before anyone could speak, Tiānshî rode toward him at full pace. As she rode forward, Sun Jian moved the rest of the army into position and Shang Xiang snapped out of her shock and followed Tiānshî. After about thirty minutes of riding, Tiānshî approached Lu Bu as she spoke sternly.
" Lord Lu Bu, I am Tiānshî. Daughter of Lord Sun Jian. I challenge you to single combat. " Tiānshî dismounted as Lu Bu laughed loudly.
" You must have a death wish. Why would I waste my time on you child? There are many opponents here of much higher worth. " Lu Bu looked toward Sun Jian with disdain before Tiānshî drew her blades and spoke.
" Because refusing me would make you look like a coward. You are willing to fight anyone else here but you run from a young girl? What would the histories say of you then? " Tiānshî spoke fiercely as Lu Bu growled and dismounted before lifting his halberd as he spoke.
" You have some courage, I will give you that. And if you win? " Lu Bu stood fearless as Tiānshî spoke sternly.
" Join me. Help me kill Cao Cao and burn Wei to ash. " Tiānshî smiled as Lu Bu laughed heartily.
" At least you are fighting me for a good reason. And if I win? " Lu Bu smirked as Tiānshî shivered and forced herself to speak as she dismounted.
" Then... My... My life... Is yours. Do what you will with me. " Tiānshî shivered again as Lu Bu raised an eyebrow before grunting and entering a combat stance.
" As you wish. Do not disappoint me. " Lu Bu smirked as he charged forward and swung his halberd. As he swung, Tiānshî rolled under his strike and stepped up on to his leg before flipping backwards over his halberd and slamming a kick into Lu Bu's bottom jaw as he stepped backward.
As she landed, Tiānshî darted forward and slammed her blades into Lu Bu's halberd before yelling angrily as she forced him backwards while a look of shock appeared on his face before he seized her by the neck and tossed her across the area effortlessly as he spoke. " Such strength. You surprise me little one. Others would have fled by now. Show me all that you are. Show me your worth! "
Lu Bu laughed as he charged forward and broke into Musou as Tiānshî ran forward. As she was about to slam into Lu Bu, Tiānshî felt a thrum of energy echo within before breaking into Musou as she collided with Lu Bu. As sparks filled the air around them from their colliding weapons, Shang Xiang caught up and watched in shock and terror at what she saw. Even though she was younger, Tiānshî was holding her own against Lu Bu. Giving no quarter, Showing no hesitation or fear. Each blow Lu Bu brought upon her was answered in kind. Blow after blow, Strike after strike.
After several minutes of colliding Musou, Tiānshî darted under Lu Bu's swing and stepped on to his leg again before wrapping her legs around his throat and using his momentum to flip him on to his back, Sending his halberd flying before they landed with a loud thud and Tiānshî held her damaged blades to Lu Bu's throat as she spoke hoarsely. " I... I win... "
" So... So it seems little dragon. I am yours. Let me up. " Lu Bu groaned and after standing, Stretched slowly before picking up his halberd and turning to face Tiānshî as she dropped her damaged blades. As he walked over to her, Lu Bu spoke calmly. " So what is our next move? "
" Cao Cao tortured me for seven years. I will not leave without his head. " Tiānshî spoke confidently but turned to face Lu Bu as he scoffed loudly.
" You better have a plan. I fought Cao Cao once in the past. He is no match for me, But I advise caution. " Lu Bu looked around before spotting a bow and quiver leaning against a small crate nearby. " Might I offer an alternative to blindly charging? "
" I'm listening. " Tiānshî watched as Lu Bu walked over, Picked up the bow and quiver before walking back and handing them to Tiānshî.
" Ever fired a bow? " Lu Bu looked unsurprised as Tiānshî shook her head. " I will explain while we ride. The Wei soldiers are too cowardly to stand before me. We will ride together. You will be behind me to hide you from view under my cape. I will get you as close as I can to Cao Cao. I cannot promise a clear shot but I will give you all I can to kill him. "
" This means a lot to me Lu Bu. Thank you. " Tiānshî smiled genuinely as Lu Bu petted her head gently.
" Thank me after we don't die kid. " Lu Bu whistled loudly before Red Hare rushed over to him as Shang Xiang rode forward and spoke.
" Sister... I knew you were strong but... Wow... " Shang Xiang smiled brightly before Tiānshî spoke.
" Return to father. Lu Bu and I are going hunting. Cao Cao dies this day. Inform Lord Guan Yu if you can. " Tiānshî smiled as Shang Xiang nodded before riding back toward the main force as they charged toward the fortress.
" Ready? " Lu Bu held his arm out before Tiānshî took his hand and he lifted her on to his horse and placed her behind him before his cape fell around her, Concealing her from view as he rode toward the lines of Wei soldiers. While riding, Lu Bu spoke. " Archery is not simply using a weapon. It is an art. A form of expression. A skill that requires patience to master. However, I will explain the basics. When you hold the bow, Hold it firmly and ensure that your arm doesn't obstruct the string. Place your arrow against the string, Using your hand that is holding the bow to support the arrow and pull back. Do not simply let go however. You will alter the arrows flight. To loose, Relax your hand and allow the string to slip from your grasp. "
" Sounds straight forward. Aim and loose. Any other pointers? " Tiānshî spoke calmly before Lu Bu chuckled.
" Yes. Consider distance and wind speed. You will fire after jumping from my shoulder. You will be higher than your target and will have a lot of momentum behind you. Make sure your aim is adjusted for that. " Lu Bu smirked as Tiānshî noticed they were riding through a sea of blue soldiers. As they approached Cao Cao, Tiānshî whipped the cape off her and stepped up on to Lu Bu's shoulder before lunging forward as she drew her bow. As she flew over the crowd of soldiers and generals, Tiānshî adjusted her aim as Lu Bu said and relaxed her hand as the string pulled itself from her grip and slung the arrow forward at high speed that was backed by the momentum of Tiānshî lunging from Red Hare at full pace, Slamming it through a gap in Cao Cao's armour, Piercing his throat before he staggered backward, Choking and gurgling as blood filled his throat. As she continued forward, Tiānshî screamed painfully as a spear thrust into her stomach through a gap in her scale mail and plate armour as several arrows pierced her arms and legs.
Meanwhile
" Father! " Shang Xiang rode through the lines of Wu soldiers until she found Sun Jian. " She did it! Tiānshî beat Lu Bu! They have gone to kill Cao Cao! " Shang Xiang smiled brightly as looks of shock covered the faces of the soldiers around her before they exploded into a loud cheer and fought forward with newfound fire as Sun Jian smiled and spoke.
" That's my girl. Go to Guan Yu and follow her. She may have already arrived at the Wei lines. Be quick daughter. " Sun Jian smiled as Shang Xiang rode away quickly before he yelled loudly. " BRING THE GATES DOWN MEN! LADY TIĀNSHÎ HAS GIVEN US A CHANCE TO SUCCEED! DO NOT WASTE IT! "
As the soldiers cheered, Sun Jian raised his sword, Signalling the men at the back to use the catapults they had brought with them.
Wei Lines
" Filthy bitch. You think you can kill our Lord and simply walk away? I will gut you. " A man with a patch over one eye raised his sword but fell backwards, Yanking the spear from Tiānshî's stomach as she screamed painfully once more as Lu Bu spoke.
" Any who wish to touch my lady will deal with me first. Otherwise take your corpse leader and crawl back home little insects. " Lu Bu stood over Tiānshî, Holding his halberd in a combat position as the soldiers around him backed away slowly. As the generals nearby were going to react, They heard a loud battle cry from nearby and turned to see Guan Yu, Shang Xiang, Zhou Yu, Lu Xun and a younger woman in green holding what looked like a wheel on a string charging toward them with at least three dozen cavalry. As the Wei soldiers scattered to avoid the charging horses, Guan Yu lunged into the air before slamming into the ground, Sending a shock wave through the ground as it cracked around him while he spoke.
" Wei cowards! You dare to plot with Dong Zhuo and think we would not find out?! Flee now or die at my blade! " Guan Yu charged forward, Swinging his glaive with carefully calculated movements as Wei soldiers charged toward him. Within minutes, The Wei forces were in full retreat. The combined might of the officers and cavalry were too much for them to handle alone. As everyone looked around, Shang Xiang looked toward Lu Bu to see him crouching over Tiānshî as she had an agonised look on her face.
" SISTER! " Shang Xiang quickly dismounted before running to Tiānshî's side as Lu Bu stepped back and spoke.
" Fear not. A little spear wound and some arrows won't kill her. She is too strong for that. It does pain her however. We should return to your camp quickly to treat her wounds. " Lu Bu carefully picked Tiānshî up as she cried out in pain before whistling to Red Hare and climbing on to the saddle after he rode over. Before riding away, Tiānshî looked toward Shang Xiang and spoke weakly.
" Take his head sister... Send it back to Wei in a basket... " Tiānshî had a stern look on her face as Shang Xiang nodded and turned away before searching for Cao Cao's body.
Nightfall
Despite the combined efforts of Wu and Shu capturing the capital, Dong Zhuo had escaped with the royal family. After searching the fortress, Sun Jian walked back to camp. On his way there, Liu Bei and Guan Yu walked over to him as Liu Bei spoke.
" My brother tells me that your daughter defeated Lu Bu but was wounded hunting Cao Cao. Does she live? " Liu Bei had a concerned look on his face before Sun Jian spoke.
" She does. What would you ask of her? " Sun Jian looked sternly toward Liu Bei as he chuckled.
" Nothing yet. I simply wish to see where her path leads now that her vengeance is complete. " Liu Bei walked away as Guan Yu bowed politely before following him as Sun Jian turned and walked back to the main camp. As he arrived, He saw his children trying to enter Tiānshî's tent but noticed that Lu Bu was blocking the way. As he approached, Sun Jian heard Lu Bu speak firmly.
" I said no. My lady needs treatment and you runts will only get in the way. No one enters until the physicians are done. " Lu Bu stood firm as Sun Jian stepped forward.
" That is my daughter in there. My daughter. Stand in my way and I will show you my fury Lu Bu. " Sun Jian had a furious look on his face as Lu Bu smirked. As Lu Bu was about to speak, Tiānshî's voice made them all freeze.
" Enough! I have listened to you all arguing for the last twenty minutes. I am trying to get my wounds tended to and rest. Will you all shut up for five minutes so I can accomplish that?! " Tiānshî looked irritated as everyone looked away sheepishly before she sighed softly and spoke in a tone that set their hearts at ease. " I promise you all that I am fine. I just need some stitches. Lu Bu, Shang can come and help with that. Let her in. Everyone else, I promise I will come and see you once I have rested. Please be patient. " Tiānshî smiled softly but groaned loudly and fell to her knees as a spray of blood left the wound in her stomach and splashed across Lu Bu's armour as Shang Xiang rushed forward and helped her back into the tent as Lu Bu once again stepped in front of everyone.
" You heard her. Do not question the little dragon lest you be burned for your insolence. " Lu Bu grinned as everyone looked to each other with looks of approval before walking back to their tents.
Three Days Later
" Thank you for watching over me Lu Bu. And thank you for saving my life when we were fighting. " Tiānshî smiled as she hugged Lu Bu gently.
" Thank me later little dragon. For now, I have a favour to ask of you. " Lu Bu knelt before her respectfully as she stepped back and spoke.
" Then whatever it is, I will see it done. Ask. " Tiānshî smiled warmly as Lu Bu spoke.
" To ensure my loyalty, Dong Zhuo sent my wife to Cao Cao as a prisoner. She is being kept at an outpost five days ride from here. I ask that you help me save her. My world and my life are both empty and cold without her. " Lu Bu sighed calmly as Tiānshî placed a hand on his shoulder.
" Help me with my armour. We leave immediately. SHANG! " Tiānshî called out loudly before Shang Xiang burst into the tent with a panicked look on her face as Tiānshî spoke. " Gather up a platoon of your cavalry. Lu Bu needs our help saving his wife. We leave immediately. "
" R... Right... Yes... " Shang Xiang looked stunned before doing as Tiānshî asked as Lu Bu stood.
" Do me this favour and I will be your protector until you die or no longer have need of me. Whatever you ask, I will be your sword and your fury. Any enemy before you will fall at my blade or burn in your flames. " Lu Bu smiled as Tiānshî nodded before he helped her put on her armour.
