Training Facility - Duel Academy - Fusion Dimension
The Lancers were on guard with Lady Minerva as they eyed her with wary eyes. Not only was she one of the subordinates of the Shadow Hunters' commander, she had a cold wicked gleam in her visible eye that was similar to a predator enjoying the hunt, stalking its prey in darkness before making the kill.
"What are you waiting for?!" Sanders demanded, getting Lady Minerva's attention. "Do as you're told! Duel Academy must get its revenge! The Professor wills it!"
"I'll get to that in a moment Sanders, be patient." Lady Minerva told the impatient instructor, her calm tone obviously becoming unstable with annoyance and anger. She then returned her attention to the Lancers. "I'll admit, you Lancers have proven to be resilient. You've crushed our interdimensional efforts all the way back to our home base, defeated our elite duelists, and you've even managed to tame our little Battle Beast. You fools think your disrupting our plans, but little did you know you're playing right into them. Thanks to you, all four girls needed for the Professor's plan are here."
"You know, we've been wondering about something." Crow interrupted. "Why do we need to fight in the first place? And why is the Professor after every Zuzu-lookalike?"
"Well, that's classified information. In fact, most of this school only knows what you know. That the Professor started the Arc-Area Project to combine the four dimensions into one. But beyond that? Barely anyone knows."
"But he specifically went after anyone who looked like Zuzu." Moon Shadow then made his own deduction, based on Lady Minerva's information. "That tells us that the four girls are the key to the Professor's plans for his Arc-Area Project."
"Wow. Someone here actually sounded intelligent for once." Lady Minerva said mockingly. "But you're right. Four girls, four dimensions, one girl from each dimension. The Professor needs them to carry out his Arc-Area Project, and now he has 'em all."
"What?!" The three Lancers were shocked at the news Lady Minerva gave them.
"Would ya stop wastin' valuable time talkin'!" Sanders yelled, ignoring that he was already on extremely thin ice with the Shadow Hunter sub-commander. "Annihilate those pieces of trash! That's an order!"
Sanders was quickly silenced by a blade of energy that struck the column he was leaning against, inches above his head. The appearance of the blade shocked everyone. Lady Minerva had an arm extended toward him, indicating that she was the one who shot it. The blade stuck around, embedded in the column, for a few moments before dissipating.
Slowly looking from the blade to the one who launched it, Sanders came eye-to-eye with Lady Minerva's, who shot him a terrifying glance that caused him to flinch before she raised her Duel Disk toward him. "WOULD YOU JUST SHUT UP?!" She yelled in anger as she instantly slammed her index finger on the button for the Human Sealing Technology function and turned Sanders into a card before anyone could react.
The card that was once Sanders fluttered to Lady Minerva's right boot. Once it settled in front of it, Lady Minerva immediately slammed the ball of her foot down on the card and proceeded to rubbed it into the dirt. "Insufferable piece of trash." She mockingly remarked.
Underground Caverns - Duel Academy - Fusion Dimension
Lulu aimlessly wandered through the caverns underneath Duel Academy, hopelessly lost. She then remembered how she got there. "It was easy falling down that hole, but the landing..." Lulu remembered how she had landed hard after falling down the hole that opened up beneath her feet and going down some sort of slide until she reached the cavern tunnel she was now in. Once she landed, the way she came was sealed up by a metallic door.
As she finished her flashback, she came face-to-face with a young woman who seemed to be older than her. She was dressed in what looked like ancient Roman white woolen palla over a stola. She had a blue head ornament with gold trimming around her head that had a gold blade on each side that pointed upward with a white head scarf that draped down her back. Bracers with a similar color scheme adorned her arms as well. She carried a gold staff that had a curved head with a blue jewel in the center of it. Her eyes were obscured by her purple hair tied into the style of a helmet with a singular short fin arcing in the middle. But what caught Lulu's eye was the fact she wore a blue Duel Academy Duel Disk with light blue trim on her left wrist.
"I am the guardian of the West Tower, Diana." The woman introduced herself.
"So you're the one who was keeping me locked up?" Lulu asked for confirmation.
"Yes. And now I shall redeem myself for my failure in letting you escape." Diana announced to Lulu.
"So I take it that behind you is the way out?"
"Unless you defeat me first, you'll never get the chance to find out!" Diana proclaimed as she threw her staff to the side and activated her Duel Disk's light green blade.
"Well then, what are we waiting for?" Lulu asked as she activated her Duel Disk too.
GENERATING ACTION FIELD: CROSSOVER
[Let's duel!]
"I shall make the first move." Diana claimed. "And with it, I activate... Polymerization! And with it I shall fuse Guardian Baou(Fiend/DARK/ATK: 800/DEF: 400/LV: 4) and Penumbral Soldier Lady(Warrior/DARK/ATK: 2100/DEF: 1400/LV: 6)! When this righteous, slashing sword shines in the blinding bright lunar light, the two warriors become one! I Fusion Summon... Penumbral Keeper(Warrior/DARK/ATK: 2400/DEF: 2100/LV: 7)!" Arriving in Attack Mode, Penumbral Keeper brandished her staff in her right hand before putting the large oval shield she had in her left forward.
"Next, Penumbral Keeper strengthens my and her defenses by summoning a Keeper Shield Token(Warrior/LIGHT/ATK: 0/DEF: 0/LV: 1)!" Penumbral Keep raised the staff she held in her right hand high as her special ability activated. Summoning the token caused the golden upward-facing crescent head on her staff to glow and bring forth the Keeper Shield Token in a column of sparkling blue light and in Defense Mode.
Diana then explained the purpose of the Token. "As long as I have this token, you're not allowed to attack Penumbral Keeper."
Diana then ended her turn with a face-down. "It's your move."
Meanwhile, after walking through the seemingly endless corridor, Rin met up with her tower's guard.
"I take it if I want to get out of here, I have to go through you?" Rin summarized.
"Indeed. I am the guardian of the eastern tower... Apollo!" A well-built man with tanned skin replied. His affair consisted of a long red robe under a short white toga, brown sandals, and an elaborate maroon collar lined with gold and with an attached orange shoulder page. He also had a large golden pendant around his neck with the design of the sun, and orange helmet and greaves, both lined with gold; the helmet obscuring the man's eyes.
"Look, I don't care if you're a hollow or a swallow. I only want one thing and that's a way out of here!" Rin said, not caring who the guy was.
"If you want to get out of here so badly, then you are first going to have to defeat me." Apollo told her as he activated his magenta, orange-trimmed Duel Disk's yellow blade.
"Well, that isn't going to be a problem." Rin replied as she activated her Duel Academy Duel Disk. "I hope you and your toga are ready for the deep freeze!"
[Let's duel!]
"I shall take the first turn, young maiden." Apollo, in a similar manner to Diana, proclaimed. "And with it, I activate Polymerization! I fuse Guardian Tryce(Thunder/LIGHT/ATK: 1900/DEF: 1700/LV: 5) and Luminous Soldier(Warrior/LIGHT/ATK: 2100/DEF: 1400/LV: 5)! When their glistening swords shine in the sun, my two brave battlers shall become one! I Fusion Summon... Luminous Keeper(Warrior/LIGHT/ATK: 2400/DEF: 2100/LV: 7)!" Arriving in Attack Mode, Luminous Keeper brandished his staff in a similar manner to Penumbral Keeper.
Raising the head of its staff, which was made of a glowing orange orb surrounded by two spiked rings, to the sky, Apollo's fusion monster used its special ability. "I activate Luminous Keeper's special ability, which strengthens my and its defenses by summoning a Keeper Shield Token. When this token is in my possession, Luminous Keeper cannot be vanquished."
Apollo repeated the same thing Diana did after she summoned her fusion monster and token. "With that, I place one card face-down and end my turn!"
"Alright, then I'm up!" Rin said as she drew her Draw Phase card. "For starters, I'm summoning out Windwitch - Ice Bell(Spellcaster/WIND/ATK: 1000/DEF: 1000/LV: 3) so I can put the freeze on your life points! You know why? Because when she's summoned, you take a chilling 500 points of damage!" Even though he was battered by the frigid winds from Ice Bell's wand, he acted as if it wasn't even happening.

"Guess you're one of those strong types. Let's see how'll you react when I activate the spell Windwitch Chimes! So now, I can call upon a new Windwitch to join the party! Meet my Windwitch - Glass Bell(Spellcaster/Tuner/WIND/ATK: 1500/DEF: 1500/LV: 4)!" Rin summoned her level 4 WIND-Attribute Spellcaster in Defense Mode.
"And now level 4 Windwitch - Glass Bell tunes with level 3 Windwitch - Ice Bell! Time to bring out the power of wintertime cheers! I Synchro Summon Windwitch - Winter Bell(Spellcaster/WIND/ATK: 2400/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)!"
"It's my turn!" Lulu declared as she did her Draw Phase. "And I'll start it off by setting the Pendulum Scale with Scale 0 Lyrilusc - Aquamarine Dove(Winged Beast/WIND/ATK: 100/DEF: 0/LV: 1/PS: 0) and Scale 2 Lyrilusc - Zircon Svecica(Winged Beast/WIND/ATK: 100/DEF: 0/LV: 1/PS: 2)!" In her left Pendulum Zone, Lulu set a Lyrilusc who wore an outfit that resembled a release dove, while in her right Pendulum was a Lyrilusc that had a costume made in the image of a bluethroat. Both were child-like and had blue eyes like the other Main Deck Lyriluscs, but Aquamarine Dove looked younger than Zircon Svecica, about Lyrilusc - Turquoise Warbler's age.
"Now I can summon a flock of level 1 monsters! I Pendulum Summon! My Lyrilusc - Cobalt Sparrow (Winged Beast/WIND/ATK: 0/DEF: 100/LV: 1) and my Sapphire Swallow!" Lulu Pendulum Summoned one Lyrilusc - Cobalt Sparrow and one Lyrilusc - Sapphire Sparrow(Winged Beast/WIND/ATK: 100/DEF: 0/LV: 1). The duo of birds swooped in and ended in a tight formation in Attack Mode, with Cobalt Sparrow on the left of Sapphire Sparrow's side.
"And my Cobalt Swallow lets me add another Lyrilusc to my hand. And I choose Celestine Wagtail!" With the effect of Cobalt Sparrow, Lulu added Lyrilusc - Celestine Wagtail(Winged Beast/WIND/ATK: 200/DEF: 0/LV: 1) to her hand.
"Next up, I activate the special ability of my other Sapphire Swallow. Which allows her and Celestine Wagtail to swoop on in to join us!" Using the special ability of Sapphire Swallow, Lulu was able to summon two more Lyrilusc monsters from her hand.
"And when I bring out Celestine Wagtail, her special ability allows me to add a Lyrilusc card to my hand!" With that, Lulu added a Lyrilusc card to her hand.
"I overlay my level 1 Lyriluscs in order to build... the Overlay Network! I Xyz Summon, Lyrilusc - Assembled Nightingale(Winged Beast/WIND/ATK: 0/DEF: 0/RK: 1/OU: 4)!
And now, due to her special ability, my Nightingale gains 100 attack points for every overlay unit she has!"

"But I'm not done yet! Thanks to the Pendulum Ability of my Lyrilusc - Aquamarine Dove, my Nightingale gains an extra 500 points per overlay unit!"

At the precise moment after Assembled Nightingale gained attack points from Aquamarine Dove, both Lulu and Rin's monsters simultaneously gave a great yell, as if they were signaling that they raring to fight together.
"You have begun by summoning out your strongest monster first!" As Apollo made his observation, Diana made hers with the same expecting grin. "You're obviously trying to end this duel quickly, but I prefer we have a little fun."
Simultaneously, in perfect synchronization, Diana and Apollo both activated their face-down cards. "I activate... the trap Admiration of the Keepers!"
Apollo explained the effect of the trap as Winter Bell glowed with red-colored energies. "This card negates Windwitch - Winter Bell's special abilities... while it also summons two Keeper Shield Tokens to my field!" The two tokens appeared in Defense Mode from lights colored the same as the energies coming Rin's monster, one on each side of Luminous Keeper and the already existing token on the field.
The same thing happened to Lulu's Assembled Nightingale, but the energies were blue. "Your highflying friend doesn't have much wind now... and with two more Keeper Shield Tokens added to my field, it wouldn't matter if she did!" Diana told Lulu as the two new tokens took their place on her field and Lulu's monster lost the attack points she gained from her special ability.
Lyrilusc - Assembled Nightingale(Winged Beast/WIND/ATK: 2400 = 2000/DEF: 0/RK: 1/OU: 4)
Apollo then explained the downside of summoning the tokens. "But your monster is allowed to attack all of my tokens at once." "And I strongly suggest that you do... or it will be automatically destroyed." Diana finished the explanation of the card's effect. All the while, both Duel Academy duelists kept smiling wickedly.
"So are you going to attack or not?" Apollo challenged. "The choice seems rather simple to me." "You certainly wouldn't want to lose your most powerful monster, now would you?" Diana taunted.
"I know you're trying to trap me, but I never have and never will fight scared!" Lulu declared as she began her Battle Phase. "Assembled Nightingale, take out one of her Tokens! Buffeting Flap!"
At the same time, Rin also began her Battle Phase. "It's go time! Windwitch - Winter Bell, shatter his Token!"
After the Keeper Shield Tokens were destroyed, Apollo and Diana gave a "hmm!", still smiling, as if they were waiting for their opponents to do to that.
"You fool! You triggered Luminous Keeper's special ability!" Apollo announced as Luminous Keeper raised its staff high into the air. The moment the special ability was activated, an orange glow came from the staff's head and Windwitch - Winter Bell cringed as she emitted red energy again. This time, the energies covered Rin as well. "By destroying my Keeper Shield Token, your monster loses 800 attack points, and you also take 800 points of damage!" Rin groaned in pain from losing her life points as she shut her eyes in pain too.
Windwitch - Winter Bell(Spellcaster/WIND/ATK: 2400 = 1600/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)

"Ha ha ha ha! Now you realize your dilemma! You must keep attacking if you want your monster to live, but every time she does so, it and your life points grow weaker! Feeling the burn yet?" Apollo asked Rin, whose body was letting off smoke, a result of the effect damage she just took. Rin just looked at Apollo with a determined face and gave her straight reply. "Oh, I'm fired up alright."
Meanwhile, the same thing was happening in Lulu's duel with Diana and her Penumbral Keeper. "You have set Penumbral Keeper's special ability in motion! Unfortunately for you, by destroying my token, your monster loses 800 attack points! But fortunately for me, I gain 800 life points!"
Lyrilusc - Assembled Nightingale(Winged Beast/WIND/ATK: 2000 = 1200/DEF: 0/RK: 1/OU: 4)

"Heh heh heh! So the more of my tokens that you destroy, the more attack points your monster loses, and the more life points I gain. Are you still eager to attack?" Lulu answered Diana's question with a face full of willpower that said she was ready. "I'm still eager to beat you and Duel Academy!"
"There is only one way for you to stop losing more life points and that way is by ending your turn." Apollo pointed out the only other alternative for Rin. "But that choice will result in you losing your most precious Windwitch - Winter Bell."
"I'll never choose to destroy my Winter Bell, not ever!" Rin stubbornly snapped before beginning another attack. "Attack, Windwitch - Winter Bell! Take out another one of his Keeper Shield Tokens!" Winter Bell launched another volley of icicles at a second Shield Keeper Token.
"You should truly learn to let go. It's for the best." Apollo taunted as Rin and Winter Bell both took the penalty. "Your sorceress loses 800 attack points, and you lose another 800 life points! "
Windwitch - Winter Bell(Spellcaster/WIND/ATK: 1600 = 800/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)

"Attack the last token!" Rin ordered her synchro monster as she took the damage from the second token demise.
As soon as the last Keeper Shield Token was destroyed, Apollo once again triggered Luminous Keeper's ability, causing Rin to moan in pain and Winter Bell to lose all her attack points. "And once again, you and your witch shall pay the price! A price you can ill afford to pay!"
Windwitch - Winter Bell(Spellcaster/WIND/ATK: 800 = 0/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)
RIN LP: 2400 = 1600
Rin breathed heavily from the pain she was forced to endure to keep Winter Bell alive as her body smoked.
"If you think I'm gonna give up my Nightingale, your greatly mistaken. We're taking you down and getting out of here!" Lulu then proceeded to attack the second token. "Lyrilusc - Assembled Nightingale, break that token into bits!" Assembled Nightingale once again unleashed a flap of wind that broke the Keeper Shield Token.
"Such loyalty will only lead to your demise." Diana proclaimed as Penumbral Keeper's ability activated again. "But so be it, I'm sure your friend appreciates your sacrifice."
Lyrilusc - Assembled Nightingale(Winged Beast/WIND/ATK: 1200 = 400/DEF: 0/RK: 1/OU: 4)
DIANA LP: 4800 = 5600
Lulu closed her eyes as she reminded herself of what she needed to do. "I have to keep my eyes on the prize and do whatever it takes to win this battle."
"Lyrilusc - Assembled Nightingale, attack one more time! Destroy the third token!" And with that, the final token was destroyed, just like the previous two.
"And with that loss, comes my gain." Diana told Lulu, as Assembled Nightingale whimpered from the loss of attack points that robbed her of all attack points. "As your bird weakens once again, I shall reap my rewards."

Apollo observed Rin's current situation. "Ha ha ha! All that sacrifice to keep your witch. I would find it admirable if it wasn't so foolish. Especially since you lost over half your life points to keep a monster that has zero attack points!"
Raising her head to Apollo, Rin replied, "Ya think?" Apollo let out a confused "wha—?" as he was mystified by what she meant.
"Not only did I get rid of every one of your tokens, but since I took damage, I'm allowed to activate the spell Windwitch Caroling! This allows me to summon this little jingle, Windwitch - Snow Bell(Spellcaster/Tuner/WIND/ATK: 100/DEF: 100/LV: 1)!" With her Quick-Play Spell, Rin special summoned the level 1 tuner monster from her hand in Defense Mode.
"And now I tune level 1 Windwitch - Snow Bell with level 7 Windwitch - Winter Bell to call a creature that brings the brilliance of winter! I Synchro Summon! Come on out, Windwitch - Diamond Bell(Spellcaster/WIND/ATK: 2800/DEF: 2400/LV: 8)!" Diamond Bell arrived onto the field in a similar manner to Crystal Bell, but was much more pure and beautiful. It was as if the synchro monster was a purified version of the twisted fusion monster created by the Doktor.
"With Winter Bell's departure, my trap card Admiration of the Keepers will now be destroyed!" Apollo exclaimed as his trap disintegrated.
"Facing seemingly insurmountable odds, this young woman was able to summon a greater monster." Still in shock, Apollo noted something that was still obvious. "Yet even skill and good fortune will not be enough to defeat the mighty Apollo."
"You sure about that?" Rin asked him. "Cause I'm about to put my game into gear! When Diamond Bell is summoned, you take damage equal to half of the attack points of a Windwitch in my graveyard, and I'm choosing Winter Bell so I can blast you for a freezing 1200 points of damage!" A light-colored, stronger version of the freezing winds that Crystal Bell unleashed when it used Ice Bell's ability buffeted Apollo, who could only protect himself by raising his arms to cover his face.
APOLLO LP: 3500 = 2300
"I'm getting out of here right now! Windwitch - Diamond Bell, attack Luminous Keeper!"
"Even if you're able to destroy my monster, I'll still end you next turn — Huh?!" When he uncrossed his arms, Apollo then noticed that his Luminous Keeper was frozen solid and cracking apart.
"There won't be a next turn!" Rin told him as Windwitch - Diamond Bell charged up its speaker-like ornaments with white-blue energy. "When you take damage, Diamond Bell can destroy one card on the field!" As soon as Rin finished her sentence, Apollo's monster broke into frozen shards of its former self as it was destroyed.
As his only monster crumbled apart, Apollo yelled in horror, "Ah! Such power! This cannot be happening!"
"Oh, yes it can! Go!" Diamond Bell unleashed three sparkling white-blue torrents of wind that struck Apollo, who screamed as he was wiped out.
APOLLO LP: 2300 = 0
"I hope this is the way out!" Rin said to herself as she ran past the defeated Apollo, who groaned in pain as he lay motionless on the ground.
Meanwhile, Diana gave a giggle at the current situation Lulu was in. "Since you wanted to keep your little pet around, you've given me an insurmountable amount of life points. Your Nightingale's measly attack points are stuck at zero, so it won't even tickle." She then laughed.
"On the contrary." Lulu replied, making a surprised Diana gasp. "You see, now that all your Shield Tokens are gone, I can activate the Pendulum Ability of Lyrilusc - Zircon Svecica! I can Xyz Summon a new Lyrilusc xyz monster that is the same rank as Assembled Nightingale! From your wonderful birdsongs, lend me your sparkling star power! I Xyz Summon! Swoop on in... Lyrilusc - Recital Starling(Winged Beast/WIND/ATK: 0/DEF: 0/RK: 1/ OU: 5)!" Lulu's second xyz monster's entrance was very similar to her ace, Lyrilusc - Assembled Nightingale, but was accompanied by thousands of tiny glittering stars.
"With Assembled Nightingale gone, my trap Admiration of the Keepers is destroyed!" Diana explained as her trap vaporized.
"That's just the start! Thanks to Recital Starling's effect, she gains 300 attack and defense point for every one of her overlay units!"
Lyrilusc - Recital Starling(Winged Beast/WIND/ATK: 0 = 1500/DEF: 0 = 1500/RK: 1/ OU: 5)
"And Aquamarine Dove gives her another 500 attack points for every one of her overlay units!"
Lyrilusc - Recital Starling(Winged Beast/WIND/ATK: 1500 = 4000/DEF: 1500/RK: 1/ OU: 5)
"And next I activate the spell card Lyrilusc - Bird Mimicry from my hand! It lets me take control of your monster and equip it onto Recital Starling!" Penumbral Keeper switched its controller from Diana to Lulu and turned into an Equip Spell for Lyrilusc - Recital Starling.
Diana scowled as the effect took her only monster. "My monster's fighting for her!"
"But that's not all. My Starling now gains your monster's attack and defense points!"
Lyrilusc - Recital Starling(Winged Beast/WIND/ATK: 4000 = 6400/DEF: 1500/RK: 1/ OU: 5)
Diana gave a quivering gasp as she backed up in horror. "Now finish this duel once and for all! Attack!" Recital Starling then leapt into the air and assumed an attack formation that was similar to Assembled Nightingale, but had twinkling stars being generated from her wings.
Diana stumbled and fell back as she realized that there wasn't anything she could do to stop it. She sat on the ground, looking helplessly at Recital Starling getting ready to deal the final blow. "No... this cannot be!"
"There's nothing much to laugh about now, is there?" Lulu asked her. "Go! Sparkling Swoop!"
Diana's answer was just a gasp of terror as Recital Starling unleashed a gust of wind adorned with countless sparkling stars that depleted her life points.
DIANA LP: 6400 = 0
After being blown away by the attack, Diana lay motionless and softly groaned in pain. Lulu, knowing she couldn't stop and see if she overdid it, ran past the defeated woman and continued down the cavern.
Unbeknownst to her and Rin as they proceeded down the tunnels, a shadowy figure stalked behind each of them from behind.

Iggy, Crow, and Moon Shadow just stood there in shock as they looked at Lady Minerva and her cruel action of turning Sanders into a card and then heartlessly rubbing it into the dirt with her foot.
Crow was the first to get over his shock. "That was just low!" Crow retorted furiously. "I won't lie that he had a big mouth, but he didn't deserve gettin' turned into a card for it!"
"Don't care." Lady Minerva said coldly as she turned her attention back on the Lancers and Battle Beast. "We've played Sanders' little game. Now I'll show you how I 'eliminate the competition'." The Lancers assumed a readied battle stance as they knew she was challenging them to a duel. Battle Beast just whimpered in fear as he startled to crawl behind Iggy for protection.
