Hi guys,
I wanted to hear your opinion. English is not my first language and I wanted to know if everything is okay and if you're enjoying it
"Call Helena now!" Rashid shouts, making Evie run out and call whoever it is. "What have I done?" He asks himself, overcome with fear and worry.
(...)
"Are you okay? What are you feeling?"
Ben asks his wife for a third time. As soon as he heard about the fainting, he left all his commitments and went to her. When he arrived at the castle, Mal was still unconscious and being cared for by Rashid and Evie.
"I don't know yet. I don't even know what happened, really."
Mal confessed to her husband. He's been squeezing and kissing your hands for a few minutes. She watches Rashid and the Fairy Godmother from across the room. Something inside her tells her that, although she doesn't know what's happening to herself, the wizard and the fairy apparently do.
(...)
The Fairy Godmother had already known that the queen was pregnant since the beginning of the week, Belle unintentionally revealed it, but in any case, they will announce the heir to the kingdom by the end of the week, as the rumor is starting to spread.
Anyway, the principal's real scare came when Rashid told her about his conversation with Merlin.
"I didn't think of that." She speaks to Rashid, still stunned. "We didn't think about it at the moment, we just wanted to save her." She flashed back to when she and the Genie used the Dragon Eye.
"I'm not blaming you, there was a lot going on that day, and we had to save her and the whole kingdom."
Rashid warns, salving her conscience. At the time, of course, he blamed Genie and her for not paying attention during a magic exercise, but that's irrelevant now.
"Are you sure? It could just be a possibility."
"Just a possibility?" He laughs wryly "Do you have your magic wand?" She confirms, picking up the object, which has recently returned to her hands. "I'll get that contraption from the doctor's office." He talks about the ultrasound machine. "I think we'll find out the truth soon."
He teleports to the medical ward and lets the fairy go to Mal's room.
"Fairy Godmother, everything is fine?"
Mal asks curiously when the fairy enters the room with a downcast look on her face.
"Yes, I'm just waiting for Rashid to arrive."
That's not the answer she expected to hear. Mal grew up and learned to always expect the worst, and now is no different.
Within minutes, the magician arrived with a large ultrasound machine.
"Do you guys want to explain what's going on?"
Ben asks in an authoritative tone for them to explain themselves. Rashid and the Fairy Godmother look at each other, wondering who is going to tell them.
"All right, two years ago, when Mal gave us her magic so that everything would return to normal and the curses would end after the death of you know who, she gave us a lot of magic, much more than she could bear." Rashid began by saying: "When we saw you, you were almost dead, and we didn't know what to do to help you and the people. So Genius came up with the idea of using the villains' artifacts, and in Mal's case, we thought it would be effective to drain the magic from the scepter and pass it on to her."
"Maleficent's scepter?"
Evie asks, wondering how it can be a good thing to use magic from the world's worst villain.
"At first, we thought it would be effective to use it on her because Mal is her daughter and there was Maleficent's DNA in the scepter. Biologically and magically, it was a smart decision."
The Fairy Godmother justifies herself under the accusatory stares of everyone in the room.
"The point is that the scepter is full of the owner's own magic. In a human being, it might kill, but Mal, being her daughter, wouldn't do anything bad." Mal pays attention to everything they say, as she is the subject of the sentence. Up to this point, she knows the story, after all, Maleficent even put a curse on the scepter so that only someone with her own blood would be able to use it. "Except for one thing."
Rashid explains this time.
"Except for what, Rashid?"
Ben asks apprehensively.
"Mal still had magic, but not much else. The scepter should only serve to raise her level and stabilize her organism. I can explain that with math."
"I don't think so... you're already doing it."
Evie was about to deny it, but the wizard took the Fairy Godmother's wand and made a small drawing of Mal's body.
"Mal was born with magic, but as she was born on the Isle of the Lost, it was neutralized inside her because it wasn't used. So even though Mal had 100% magic in her body, that was equal to 0. The fact that you're alive here is a big mystery, honestly."
Rashid is so excited that he's forgotten the main reason he's there.
"Why?"
Ben asked curiously.
"The barrier wouldn't let magic in, and M. is totally dependent on magic."
Evie calmly explains what she learned in her Auradon Prep classes.
"Exactly. So, back here." He magically shows pictures of the day Mal arrived in Auradon. "So, sixteen years later, she comes to Auradon and day after day that magic increases because she uses it and because naturally that magic is released. So, in her first days in Auradon, Mal already had 60% active magic in her body."
"That was before the Cotillion."
Helena thought it was best to warn the family.
"What happened after?"
Ben asks.
"Mal, with his emotions out of control and having access to ever more magic, went into magic overload, which is why Marlin measured your magic. You had higher rates than Maleficent." Fairy Godmother explains again. "Mal, you've gone through many overloads over the years, but we've always controlled it."
"Now, going back two years." Rashid returns to his cute drawing. "You had an estimated 65% of your magic being used. And that's a lot, okay? Then, you gained the Apprentice's magic, which is something totally outside the normal range that your organism was prepared for, but you did it." Rashid pointed it out, laughing proudly. "You got 98% of your body in magic, probably on the day of the battle with Agatha it was at 100%." His drawing shows Mal completely painted purple. "You transferred it to us that day, but you only transferred 80% at most. It probably sapped your energy and left you almost dead, but there was still magic in you. What should have happened that night was just to get you to stabilize that magic."
"Thank you, Mr. Rashid. I understand myself better now than I did in my therapy sessions."
Mal laughed at how she was only placed as a topic for studying history.
"Now comes the not-so-fun part."
Fairy Godmother warns worriedly.
"What happened?"
Ben, who doesn't find anything funny, asks as he intertwines his hand with his wife's.
"Genie and I didn't know all this, which is why the scepter's magic was drained for almost 48 hours for you, Mal." The queen doesn't know that part of the story. "You couldn't stand that much energy, that's why you had that crisis of convulsions. Rashid arrived a little later, reminding us of the idiotic thing we'd done, so we pulled the serum made from Dragon's Eye out of you. We honestly didn't know if you'd survive." Helena looked at Ben, who had spent several days waiting for Mal to wake up and knew nothing about it. "To our surprise, you woke up, which was wonderful and a real miracle for us."
"But my mother's magic is still inside me, isn't it?"
Mal already knew that detail.
"Yes, but that doesn't mean you're just like her, as I told you. As soon as you've completely recuperated , we'll give the Apprentice's magic back to you, because it's yours too."
Rashid went on to explain.
"So far, I haven't seen the problem."
The king declared, trying to understand the focus of the question.
"It wouldn't be a problem, Mal knows how to control magic, even though she has such an absurd quantity of it inside her."
"But?"
Evie intrudes on the conversation.
"But." Rashid takes a deep breath to get to this part of the story. "In the simplest version, the Apprentice's magic and Mal's magic blend together as if they were one big magic of their own, but when the Dragon's Eye enters the equation."
"It stands out."
Mal says, already knowing what he's going to say. Even though she doesn't have all the magical knowledge that Rashid and the Fairy Godmother have, she can guess what she's going to hear without too much trouble.
"Exactly. It's as if all the magic came together inside her, you know? All of Mal's magic is extraordinary, but the scepter is like..." Rashid can't imagine how to explain all these details to ordinary human beings. "The scepter taked over your whole body." He reveals this, looking at Mal, who again wonders what this means. "And since you have Maleficent's DNA, it's like... you're a big magic bomb."
"Rashid, why is this a problem for their baby?"
Evie is as worried as the king and queen.
"Your child would theoretically have less than 50% magic, obeying the laws of genetics, but if even the two of you don't obey the laws laid down, what say the baby, right?" Rashid tries to joke, but it's not the time to laugh. "Mal's magic plus magic that shouldn't be there, in Maleficent's case, permeates every part of her blood and organs, including her belly."
"In short, the baby has my mother's magic, is that what you are trying to say?"
Mal says, perplexed and almost panicking.
"More than this. Your baby has a form of magic that we've never seen before. Good and evil basically come together because of the scepter and the Apprentice's magic. But we don't know which one is in greater quantity in him or if everything we've said is just theory."
Rashid tells the whole truth. Everyone responds in one way or another, showing that they are panicked by the news.
"What are the risks of this? Of the baby being born with these superpowers?"
Evie asks, as apprehensive as they are.
"We don't know. Maleficent was already born this way, we didn't take care of her pregnancy to find out how it was with Mal, and no one has ever had magic of this size, at least not in the books."
Fairy Godmother spoke, although Rashid knew one of the consequences.
"Let me get this straight." Ben asks for his turn to speak. He gets up and walks around the room. "Not only have you drained my wife of magic, even though you knew it was dangerous, which is unimaginable to me, but my child is at risk of having this magic too?" Ben is already altered and, as the Queen would say, "Going into his Beast mode". "Are you crazy? What's wrong with all of you?"
"Ben, calm down, they were just trying to save me. Are you going to blame them for that?" Mal asks and pulls him up by the sleeve of his blouse, making him come back and sit next to her. "Rashid said you didn't know yet, right? You said you still don't know which magic is in greater quantity in the baby. Do you think you can find out before it's born?"
"It's still early, but I can see a little. You use this to see him, don't you?" Rashid points to the ultrasound machine. "With a little magic, I think you can get an idea."
"Great, the sooner we find out, the better."
She says that, unlike Ben, who thinks about how his little baby should be, Mal sees a small threat growing inside her.
