To his credit, Shingo didn't try to start the conversation as morning came and she woke up finding him already shifting through his usual routine.
Where Luna had expected the boy to come out clean on the spot and avoid a senseless 'chase' of truth from the cat, she was quite surprised when he avoided showing any emotion through most of the routine- except when it was time for breakfast. The TV was on and the local news were reporting about a 'major clash' that happened between Moon Knight and a mysterious hooded figure.
The strangely irritated look was indeed a novelty, but no one beyond Luna caught it. The parents were busy and barely paying attention to this, while Usagi was already seeing this as 'Moon Knight getting his first Archnemesis'. It was indeed a curious circumstance- and perhaps what had allowed her to take notice that Shingo had 'turned up late' from what she could tell had been a 'difficult patrol' as Moon Knight.
There was not a single doubt in her mind that was the case anymore, yet she was feeling somewhat vindictive. Luna wanted to hear him talk about it. And she knew Shingo was already aware of this attitude towards him, hence the silence.
Still, Usagi appeared surprised when Luna decided to tag along with Shingo for today. And Shingo... Well, he merely nodded at this. It was the best way for the cat to get this awkward mess dealt with as privately as possible, with the two leaving the house the earliest compared to the others.
...
...
"Why didn't you tell us?"
"Because it's best for Usagi to not have to deal with her role model being her little brother," Shingo flatly answered, irking Luna for the attitude she was receiving. "Likewise, you are not anyone's mom at this point, Luna."
And he wasn't wrong about it. That didn't mean she wasn't upset by the way he was tackling the situation.
"It's still important to talk with allies- friends," She argued angrily. "This is important."
"It is. But, you see, some stuff is best kept secret from others rather than spread about."
"Why?"
"Because your current worry is to keep my sister alive together with her friends, while I keep other potential issues that are not Dark Kingdom-related out of her path."
"...What?"
Shingo looked around, then sighed in relief as he noticed no one around them. "The world is bigger than just Sailor Moon and the Dark Kingdom. Far more troubled at that. Let's take yesterday night as an example, the one I fought is someone attached to another bad organization."
"It can't be that bad-"
"Let's just say that the organization caused me enough troubles yesterday that I couldn't end the job when needed," The boy argued dryly, quite frustrated by the topic. "But I couldn't get things done despite how this would have been good for us all."
Luna blinked. "Was he too strong to beat?"
"No. His father is," Shingo corrected calmly, eyes turning to the side to check for any car before they crossed the street again. "The brat may be beatable, but I can't beat his father in a fair or an unfair battle."
"I think your sister-"
"No," The sharp and angry tone caught her off-guard. "You will not pit Usagi or the entire Sailor Scouts' group against someone like that. Not even if Usagi gets to use the full power of the Silver Crystal."
Surprise flashed on Luna's face. "W-Why? The Silver Crystal is powerful enough to-"
"Crush any form of lifeforce that is not warded by it," The boy finished for her. "I am aware of this potential, but it's a matter compatibility. Specifically, the fact that the Silver Crystal is strictly unidimensional in its reach as it can only influence the world within a specific range in a single universe, while the ability that could render this foe troublesome is... interdimensional. It's nothing to concern ourselves about, not when he is not a bother to us at the moment."
That was a lot to digest.
"They... They weren't around during the Silver Millennium."
"They were, just not connected to Earth. Once humanity went through that reboot, they were able to connect the 'Dark World' to the Human Realm. From there on, Taimanin started to become the Sailor Scouts' version for that kind of threat."
...
"How long did you know this?"
"A few weeks, maybe a month or two- didn't exactly keep count of that," The boy admitted. "I just met one of their rookies, then a veteran Taimanin and-"
"Is Lilim tied to this?"
...
"She is a Demon, but a good one-"
Luna frowned quizzically about this, and the boy huffed.
"She is a Succubus that has been exiled by her father since his other children wants to kill her. She's been living like a hobo for a while, but I helped her on her feet and now she is fine."
Slowly nodding at this elaboration, the feline remained quiet for a few minutes. They were getting close to school, so she couldn't keep the conversation going. She had much more to ask, but she decided to ask something that really felt important to her as she could tell Shingo was aware of this more than anyone else.
"So, you think that your sister is truly the Moon Princess?"
He slowly nodded. "She is. And I am worried about it because I know how that came to be."
Shingo stopped, and Luna's curiosity doubled over his familiar expression. He had her eyes, not just in color and shape but also due to their painful glint.
"She is reincarnated. Princess Serenity's soul lingers within her, and eventually will take over."
He looked up in the sky as clouds were forming over Tokyo. A rain was abound from the looks of it and-
"I just... I just don't want to lose my sister."
"I just... I just don't want to lose my daughter."
His words mirrored hers. And for a moment, Luna saw Queen Serenity standing right beside him. Both looked conflicting, but where Shingo felt like a matter of family against duty, for the Queen was about causing pain to herself or others.
It was all in a mere blink of an eye, but it imprinted heavily on Luna's mind as she calmly followed Shingo. Does he know he has her soul in him? It didn't seem like it, yet he unconsciously showed some understanding. It was like his body reacted to it, his mind and soul too, but Shingo was unable to rationally perceive her.
"It's not going to be simple," She agreed, and she saw them nod in agreement.
"It's not," Shingo and Queen Serenity answered in unison.
AN
Shingo doesn't know about Queen Serenity's presence just yet. And while Usagi may end up 'mixing' with Serenity, the Queen is not planning to overstay her presence for long. She has a few gifts to give up, some of which will be important through the entire story.
