Years Ago, in Horizon Industries…

Spencer, Richard, Edward Sr., and their families were in the lab as they took a break from their endless pursuit of knowledge and discovery.

Peter was looking at a cute caterpillar on a leaf. Eddie was keeping an eye on his little bro while Alister was looking at the little boy and scoffed. Why was he forced to associate with these two little brats when his mind was superior to them? These two simpletons were giving them a hard enough time just being around them. But his father wanted him to bond, despite sharing the same opinions with their fathers. After all, their intellect was beneath them. Alister couldn't understand why his own father would entrap him with lamb-brained, spineless fools who were holding him back.

Strangely enough, Eddie Brock Jr. shared the same thoughts about Alister. Eddie knew a jerk when he saw one and Alister was the biggest jerk on the planet. Peter couldn't see it because of the fake niceness that the little punk excretes and the boy's belief in innocence. Alister was the type of brat who thought he was smarter than everyone but was all bark and no bite. All talk but no show. In fact, out of the three of them, Peter would be the smartest one in the group. Eddie knew this because he saw how the sweet boy could invent and create blueprints of things. Petey will probably be the next Tony Stark. Eddie would be there to see it too.

"Look, Eddie! A Lepidoptera in the lab's garden!" Peter marveled as he looked at the tiny creature, though not as beautiful as a spider, they were just as charming.

"Careful Bro, caterpillars are delicate. We don't want to hurt the little guy. He was a sweet little thing that probably wanted to be with his family." Eddie suggested as Alister was disgusted by that thing.

"Ew, why do you care about such a weak little worm?" Tiny Alister groaned at the sight of it as young Peter politely pulled it closer to himself.

"Well, Caterpillars are important to the ecosystem and one of the most beautiful things in nature." Little Eddie countered.

"Indeed, the Lepidoptera is one of the most magnificent beings on the planet. The ability to change, to metamorphize into elegant beings…"

Spencer groaned at the children's fascination with such insects as the two other scientists were still talking about their latest gadgets.

"It seems that the Prototype is still functioning on its goal to never harm humans and to help mankind." Richard hummed as Edward agreed.

"There was also the fact that it seemed to be a tad aggressive in its objectives. We really need to be certain it's ready before sending it out in the world." Edward agreed while Spencer was showing agitation.

"Nothing is the matter if you allow-."

"We are not adding the obedience chip."

"The obedience chip could-."

"Spencer, listen. We tested that chip on a toy robot and the results were not good."

Eddie stopped listening when he helped Peter find a safe place for the caterpillar.

Sometime later… a butterfly landed on his shoulder…

A few years later…

They lost so much, so quickly…

Their parents were killed when they went on that plan, for reasons unknown but important. Eddie was sent to a church to be raised by the faith while Peter was adopted by his aunt and uncle. Spencer, the last of the three scientists, decided to take over the business and cut the children of his fallen partners out. Alister was pleased by his decision, but it only meant that more pressure was on him.

It got so bad that the stress caused one of his projects to come apart.

"No, no, you stupid thing!" Alister bellowed as Peter looked to see what was wrong.

"Can I try to fix it?" Peter asked the boy while Eddie was still angry about what the Smythes had done.

"No one can. This is a piece of rubbish." He muttered in anger.

"Yeah, Peter. Besides, he should just face the music of being a failure." Eddie sneered then the two got into a heated argument while Peter fixed the machine.

"Done!" Peter squeaked as the boys turned around, the project was repaired.

Present day…

"Hey, Bro~! Delivery from May Parker Kitchen!" Peter goofily called from the door, knocking as he smiled at Peter's antics.

"Come on in, I could use some homestyle cooking." Eddie smiled, leaving out that he preferred May's over Peters.

Or anything over Peter's cooking…

Especially from that time in a cooking class where he created an abomination of science, got it taken to the lab, then banned from cooking.

So, yeah. A meal from Aunt May sounded pretty good and seeing Peter's smiling face was a bonus.

"Hey, Pete. See you got me some of Aunt May's specialty."

"You bet. Meatloaf, potato salad, biscuits, and some coleslaw with apple pie for dessert. Aunt May wants you to eat something solid before the pie." Peter informed his big buddy since they were babies.

"Oh, believe me. I do not want to cross her." Eddie chuckled as he was amazed at how warm the food still was.

"Yep, and thanks to my shortcuts it stayed nice and warm. But I did bump into someone on the way. You're never going to believe who." Peter spoke excitedly as the blond stopped eating for a moment.

"Who?" Eddie wondered.

"Me."

Eddie turned around and saw the ghost of their past, a dark phantom returning to their lives to haunt them once again.

"Alister Smythe," Eddie growled a bit.

"Happy to see you too, old chum. How has life been treating you? I cannot wait to get together and catch up."

"I never really got the chance to thank you for sharing your brilliance on that day, Peter. You are truly a prodigy." Alister swooned at the sight of the boy.

"Yeah, well… I like to help." Peter chuckled at the compliment.

Eddie glared at Alister as he knew that look on his face.

"Well, I better get back. I got a ton to do and little time to do it." Peter bid farewell.

"Maybe next time we can check up, maybe over lunch."

"I would like that."

Then Peter left as Alister was still infatuated with the boy.

"Ah, Eddie… Still foolishly trying to get back the company you lost." The posh boy scoffed as it angered Eddie.

"Your father stole it from us, and you know it!"

"Right… and it's not the fact that a pair of Rugrats would make lousy businessmen."

"I don't care how long it takes me, but one day we are getting that company back and showing everyone that your dad is a snake!"

"I wish you luck on that and I hope you find the money to make such a fantasy come true."

Alister then closed the door before Eddie could throw an empty cup at him.

One day… that company would be theirs again, no matter what…
