The sun shines down on a training ground as three men wait for their teacher to arrive. Sam is talking to his lizard and they are arguing over waves of lava versus rivers of the stuff. Sam is saying a river is better since you can trap opponents and follow with techniques from either side of the river. The lizard is arguing that a wave is better because nothing survives a wave of fucking lava. Jake is tuning out the argument and practicing wrapping bandages around his leg before he unwraps them and looks at a book to learn more bandage styles. William is currently reading a book and taking notes as Manson skitters around in his coat, reorganizing the insides of the various pockets.
"Hey. william? What do you have in that coat? I mean. I've seen you pull a scythe out of the coat. How does that work? Shouldn't the scythe have been too big? I mean the thing was as tall as you and had a four foot blade!" Sam asks. Both of his teammates walk to william.
"What do you mean?" William asks from his sitting position. He marks his page and closes both books.
"Like what's in there? Ya know. Like books, weapons, medical supplies." Jake supplies.
"Well. i have four scythes, four katanas, several jars of honey, a large amount of spare kunai and shuriken, a dozen books on various subjects with accompanying notebooks, my spare clothes, a month's worth of rations, a month's worth of water, enough rebreathers to give me a full day of underwater breathing, and a few dozen random odds and ends." William reports.
"How does all of that fit? Why do you have so much stuff?" Sam is shocked and Jake has a wide gaze.
"Seals. Each pocket is sealed to increase its storage capacity and to reduce the weight so my coat weighs an additional pound at most. I have multiple spares of each item just to be safe." is the explanation of the heavily covered teen.
Sam and Jake both sigh at the paranoid attitude of their friend. They each have spare weapons. However they each have a single spare katana, they are all being taught swordsmanship by yugao. The fact that William has three spare weapons is shocking. Sam grins at the thought of his personal weapon. While they are taught basic swordsmanship by their teacher. Each man has a personal weapon that fits their style better. Jake has a pair of cleavers that go well with the sweeping hits of his gentle fist style. Sam is using a monk's spade and is quite the fan of it. The flat blade on one end allows him to fling lava at his enemies and the curved moon shaped blade is very useful for countering blows. The curved shape is also useful in combat since it acts like a tuning fork to send painful vibrations down the weapons of his enemies.
Sam smiles at his friend and then chuckles at the angry clicking of manson.
"I need the hatchets. Yugao told us it is bad form to cut wood with our weapons and if we need firewood I will have the ability to gather it easier." William replies to the large scorpion.
Sam snickers at this and Jake smirks at the interaction. Leave to his friend to argue with a giant scorpion over the merits of having a hatchet in his coat. The moment is interrupted by William lashing out with a sword and a clang rings out. A kunai falls to the ground and the three boys stand with their backs to each other. Sam looks around and spots a flicker of movement. He flings a shuriken at the movement and a flash of metal swats away the disk of sharp points.
Jake charges the figure in the trees and William fades away in a cloud of insects. Sam smirks and bites his thumb before slapping a hand to the ground. A burst of smoke announces the arrival of a four foot long salamander with red lines flowing down its back and lava dripping from its tail. Sam points to Jake and the lizard scuttles to help the long haired boy.
Jake ducks under a sword swing and his cleavers sing as he spins to attack. The figure is blocking the attacks but as the spin continues, the blades are moving faster and faster. Cleavers bite into the leg of the enemy and scarlet tears form around the shining metal that has entered flesh. A grunt of pain follows the burst of smoke.
Sam ducks and barely brings up his spade to block a sword swing and he smirks before lava roars out of the ground in a molten geyser of stone. The figure screams and drops to the ground with horrific burns all over her body. The three boys return and watch as the woman gasps out a final breath.
"Who is she?" Sam asks.
"The chakra was that of yugao but she wasn't fighting like normal. She doesn't fight three people at once unless she can disable one of them from the shadows." William reports.
"That can't be right. The musculature is wrong. Yugao has lean muscles and is toned from years of swordwork. This woman has muscles like a civilian. Bulky and slow." Jake replies with confusion flooding his words.
"How did a civilian get yugao's chakra? Aren't the aburame the only people able to absorb chakra?" sam asks.
"No. There are a few other clans and bloodlines that can absorb chakra. The most prevalent one is the Akado clan. They are a minor clan in konoha that can absorb chakra through physical contact and thus specialize in grapples." William explains.
The three teens are surprised by the arrival of a squadron of anbu and the hokage himself. The anbu look around before they spot the burned body and relax as the hokage approaches the teens.
"What happened to her?" the hokage asks. He is covered in black armor that is form fitting and a samurai-esque helmet sits on his head.
"This woman attacked us and we retaliated. She has yugao's chakra but not her muscles or fighting style." Jake explains.
"This woman was a traitor of the Akado clan. She was a civilian woman but she managed to surprise yugao and drain a large amount of her chakra. This gave her a few of Yugao's skills and memories. She decided to show that her clan was superior to the aburame so she attacked your team." the hokage tells the trio.
"That is illogical. In ranged combat my clan has hers beat but in draining she has us beat. I have done the calculations. A highly trained aburame member can drain a jonin dry in three minutes with a swarm of five hundred insects. A similarly trained Akado member can drain a jonin dry in a single minute with one of their grapples. This is made possible by the higher amount of physical contact used in a grapple." William replies.
The hokage raises a brow and nods before turning to see Sam scratching his summon under the chin. The old man looks over the molten lizard and peruses the files of his memories before he recognizes the beast.
"How did you get the summoning contract of the lava lizards?" the hokage asks.
"I found the scroll in Gato's mansion. Noticed a bunch of bloody names and decided to add my own. Thought it'd be cool. Now I summon lizards that spit lava. Fucking awesome!" Sam explains before he shouts the last sentence.
The hokage smiles at the exuberance of the young man. He fondly thinks back on his own team and the joy they felt when they acquired their own summoning contracts. The old man sighs at the fond memories and bids them a good day before he returns to his office.
Sarutobi Hiruzen sits in his chair and nods to the anbu captain in front of him.
"Sir. yugao Uzuki has been taken to the hospital and aside from the blow she took to her temple and her chakra being depleted to dangerously low levels. She is healthy. The doctors estimate a week of rest will have her back in action. The Akado clan members we questioned have corroborated the story given to us by the head of the clan. The woman who attacked team thirteen was named Fukase Akado. She was the wife of the current clan head and his clan members gave us the information needed to figure out the story. The clan head, Sanda Akado, apparently rants about the unfairness of the fact that the aburame clan gets more recognition despite the fact that they, and this is a direct quote, 'have to use some stupid fucking bugs' to do the same as his clan when he is drunk. The man was embarrassed about this when we asked him and he admitted he is slightly jealous of the aburame clan. Not enough to go so far as his wife but he does feel a little jealousy that he is the leader of a clan that does the same as the aburame yet he is considered a minor clan." the anbu leader reports. His mask depicts a snarling dragon.
Sarutobi nods and dismisses the man before he starts signing paperwork. His mind whirls as he works. How does he make this better? The Akado clan is a mighty clan and the only thing holding them back is the fact that they need to make physical contact with their enemies to drain the target. What would fix this? Sarutobi looks around his office as he thinks. Wait! Sarutobi looks at the picture of Hanzo the salamander. Hanzo was so strong that merely surviving a fight against him made you a legend. He wielded a chain scythe and was deadly with that weapon. The hokage smiles as he calls his secretary. If the Akado clan start using chained weapons then the increased range will boost their effectiveness in battle! If the core of the weapon is made of chakra conducting metal then the Akado techniques will work through it.
Sarutobi smiles and begins writing down things to send to the clan as he thanks his lucky stars that he met the young aburame of team thirteen. That young man told him of the chakra draining in amounts. This means the Akado members can still drain enough chakra through their weapons to be effective in combat.
