The passing genins are assembled in front of the hokage after he gave his speech about how the chunin exams are a replacement for war and how they should not feel bad if they lose these preliminaries, a promotion is still available in the field or the next chunin exam after all, the hokage then went to sit in a spectators box with clan heads.
"My name is Hayate gekko. I am the proctor for this exam and my word is law. If I say you lose then you're done. If I say stop then freeze. Understood?" Hayate orders.
The genin nod and Hayate smiles before pointing behind himself to a large board. He explains that the board will show two names and those two will fight. Winner goes to the finals while the loser gets to do whatever till then. The board spins through names and people mutter at the chosen.
JAKE HYUUGA VS KARUI OF KUMO
The arena clears out and the named people stand in front of each other. Karui is a dark skinned woman with long red hair and a moderate chest. She is dressed in the typical grays and blues of kumo ninja.
"Ready to lose hyuuga? Don't know why the raikage wants your eyes so badly. You lot look weak!" karui calls with a smirk. Her sword humming as it slides from the sheathe.
Jake says nothing as he pulls his cleavers out of his robe. The proctor calls for them to start and Jake vanishes.
Karui looks around before a cleaver slices through the back of her knee. A scream echoes as she falls. The other knee gets cut and Jake appears in front of her with his blades dripping blood onto her chest from their position in front of her neck.
"Do not judge my clan by its looks. Noise is for the weak. Why waste sound on scum that can't back up their bark?" Jake asks calmly.
The fight is called in his favor and Jake stashes his blades away as he walks up the stairs to stand with his team. Karui is put on a stretcher and taken to the infirmary. The next fight is called and Sasuke walks down with a man with a covered face. They start fighting as a tall blonde woman approaches jake.
"I didn't know hyuuga used weapons. What style was that?" the woman asks.
"My own. Turns out nobody uses meat cleavers in a fight. What's your name?Jake replies.
"I am samui. The jonin instructor of the woman you just defeated. I am curious though. Why didn't you try to kill her? Most would have sliced her neck if they had her where you did." samui calmly questions.
"What would her death get me? I know as a ninja I have to kill my targets. However, I don't have to kill everyone I fight. I wouldn't get anything from her death like i do from targets so her death would be a waste.'' Jake answers.
Samui nods and offers aid in learning a twin blade style. She's fought people like that before so she could help him shore up his own style. Jake thanks her and the fight is called in favor of sasuke. He used some moves he copied off of a genin named rock lee. The next names are called and Sam whoops in joy as he runs down. A woman follows and they are told to begin.
Kurotsuchi sneers at the boy she is fighting as he flashes a smile. Stupid leaf hugger. Here she is getting ready to give it her all and he's acting like she is a joke?! Rage flows through her as she forms hand seals before spewing lava at him. A dark smirk forms at the shocked look on his face before the lava coats him.
"Call it. Nobody can survive lava to the face like that." Kurotsuchi calls to the proctor.
"Bullshit! First attack and you steal my style! What the fuck bitch!?" Sam roars as the lava sloughs off his body.
"What? How are you alive?" Kurotsuchi demands.
"Fuck you thats how!'' Sam replies before he spits a wave of lava at her.
Kurotsuchi leaps over the wave and spots Sam charging her. Lava flows from his fists as a flurry of punches force the dark haired girl to dodge and leap to avoid the blazing limbs. Sam roars again and lava floods the floor of the arena. Kurotsuchi leaps up and spews out water that forms a three foot platform. She lands on it and looks for her opponent. Fear flashes in her eyes as Sam rises from the lava like a monster from hell. He raises a molten arm to strike her down before a call stops him.
"What?" Sam demands.
"I said stop. You win." Hayate repeats.
"What? Oh come on! She stole my style! Can't I at least burn her or something?!" sam whines.
"No. head to the competitors box." hayate orders.
Sam grumbles as he wades through the lava and walks up the stairs. Molten rock dripping in his path. The orange haired man reaches his team and raises a brow at them.
"What?" he grunts.
"You're leaking." Jake points out.
Sam looks at himself and notices the trails of lava on his body. He sighs and makes a hand seal. The lava pools at his feet and hardens to stone. Sam puts his hands in his pockets after this and resumes grumbling about thieving women. Jake snickers at his friend's plight as chuckles roll from william. The next few fights are boring to the three boys.
Naruto fights kiba with lots of clones and a fart. Sakura and ino get into a catfight that ends with both of them knocking each other out. Hinata fights neji and gets her ass kicked. Tenten gets the shit beat out of her by temari of the sand. Shikamaru makes a girl from sound knock herself out on the wall. These are the notable ones. The rest are way too boring.
William is called to fight a similarly tall boy. The similarities end there. Where William is silent and calm, this boy is loud and outspoken. William walks calmly and is clothed in dark colors, the other boy is wearing bright colors and has a swagger as he walks. Where William is slim and agile, the other boy is bulky with muscle to the point that it looks like he is built out of weights and steroids.
William calmly stands before his opponent and the other man laughs.
"Im inazuma! Son of the current raikage and the future holder of that honor! I doubt you can do it but I'm looking forward to a good fight!" inazuma roars with joy.
William calmly nods and they are told to begin. Inazuma rushes William and the heavily covered teen ducks the attack before responding with an elbow strike that sends the muscle bound boy into a wall.
"That strike. That's one of dads moves. How do you know it?" inazuma asks. A bruise forming on his side.
"Your father has a very effective fighting style. Through history books and practice I have recreated it. Mostly. I do not wish to use his lightning armor. The amount of chakra needed is staggering, are you sure your father is human?" William replies.
"Ha! You mean you learned dads style from books?! That's awesome! I don't know that question though! Dads freaky in a fight! Nothing slows the guy down!'' Inazuma is back to his normal loud ways.
Both boys rush each other and the difference is shown quickly. William is using agility and flexible dodges to avoid the strikes of his opponent as he strikes back with the force of a hammer. Inazuma on the other hand is tanking the hits and swinging like a wrestler from the carnival. The pair disengage after a moment and bruises form all over the mountain of muscle.
"Damn! You didn't learn from those books! You made it better! Only person that does this much damage to me is dad! I gave a few good ones though! How are those ribs?!" inazuma bellows.
"Cracked. While I am fighting someone like you. I have a question. Why are the moves so sloppy? Each punch is thrown like a street brawler and if you're faster than they are easy to dodge? Are you not experienced in the style or is that how it is used?" william questions.
"That's how it works! All power and speed! Who needs to dodge when you hit harder than a tailed beast?!"the mountain of muscle roars.
Both boys resume their bout and Sam is cheering for his friend as Jake shakes his head with a grin. Only William would offer tips mid combat. Guys cold sure, but if you're his friend then he will move heaven and hell to help you. Case in point, William helped Jake develop his fighting style by being the practice dummy. Guy had most of the veins in his body severed and kept getting up to make sure Jake would be a powerful fighter.
A distorted screeching draws attention to William's arm as a ball of chakra swirls to life on his palm. A moment passes before the screeching intensifies as lightning collects on the front of the ball. William blitzes inazuma and slams his attack through the wall of muscle that is his enemy. A bloody arm erupts from the back of inazuma and he collapses as William stands tall with blood dripping from his right arm.
"Another weakness of the style. All of your focus has been on power and thus ninjutsu is neglected. If you had spent the time to learn techniques then you would have been capable of dodging my attack. This match is mine." William declares before falling to his knees.
Jake leaps the railing with Sam as the team from cloud does the same. Blood is flowing from William's nose and eyes as he lays on the stone unconscious. Jake shrouds his hands in chakra as he begins healing his friend. Sam helps by propping up his friend and shrouding his own body in the orange chakra that he possesses. Bugs flow from the large boy and devour the chakra offered by Sam as they return to their hive to heal him. Samui heals inazuma and both boys groan as they wake up. Inazuma spits out a wad of blood and chuckles.
"I'll bite. What the fuck did you hit me with? I can't use lightning but I can coat my muscles in chakra to act as armor, how did you pierce it?" inazuma asks. The hole in his stomach slowly closed under the care of samui.
"Spiraling cutter. By using the rotation of a rasengan and the piercing power of the chidori I can pierce most items. The rasengan then destabilizes and detonates in the target causing more damage. I did not detonate the attack inside of you, it would be a waste to kill you for a simple promotion." William explains with a hoarse voice.
"Well next time don't use that thing. You have severe hemorrhaging of the brain and half the tenketsu in your arm are ruptured. Anymore damage and that arm would be useless and you'd be brain dead.'' Jake scolds.
"I had to defeat him. The chakra armor would repel your attacks and Sam's lava would not be hot enough to deal the necessary damage. The damage to my body is worth the safety of my allies." William replies.
"Next time just accept defeat. I don't want you killing yourself kid, we can take more punishment than you'd think." ibiki grunts.
"That is not the problem. I do not wish to see you injured regardless of if it would slow you down." William explains.
Ibiki chuckles and hoists the taller boy onto his shoulders as Jake stands behind and continues healing him. The group returns to the stands and the next match is called. A green wearing boy is called to fight a boy with a large gourd on his back. Sand flows like water from the gourd and attacks the boy as the green clad youth dodges.
Jake tunes out the fight and finishes healing his friend. Bugs crawl on his arm and chakra is pumped into his body as William sits against the wall. Long hair sways as he chuckles, even half dead and exhausted he still puts his friends first. The fight ends with a painful scream from the green clad boy as sand crushes his left limbs.
The hokage announces that the winners of the fights will fight in an arena next month. The people chosen are the ones that he believes to have the highest chance of promotion. A board flashes and names are shown.
