Ben's pov

" Alright now that everyone is here we can begin the Obelisk welcome dinner." Came the voice of Dr. Crowler.

" Hold on a second." Came the voice of an Obelisk student. " Why are we allowing him here?"

The crowd parted revealing a brown haired boy pointing at me with a look of outrage on his face. Immediately others began to state their agreement with him.

" Now listen here," Dr. Crowler tried to say but was swiftly drowned out by the voices of the majority of the Obelisk students.

{"Ben we need to challenge him to a duel right here right now." Riley told me. " They think we don't belong in Obelisk so we'll need to make an example of this guy. You want me to do it? "}

{ " We use my deck and plays but you take over and do the talking ."} I tell him.

{ " Ok let's get this over with."} Riley said as he took control. Immediately I felt surprise coming from him.

"Alright you think I don't belong here." Riley began talking above the crowd. " Well clearly the school does but since so many of you have a problem with it let's settle this with a duel."

Pointing towards the one who first spoke up Riley continued, " I'll take you on. If you win I'll accept a demotion to Ra Yellow, but if I win then you drop this for tonight. Assuming that this is okay with you Dr. Crowler."

Everyone went silent at our challenge and turned towards Crowler.

" Well seeing as how there is so much unrest about this matter and you've issued the challenge, I don't have any objections." Crowler spoke.

{ " Alright Ben you call the plays and I'll execute them."} Riley said

Almost immediately everyone moved closer to the walls to give us enough room to duel. Riley put on our duel disk on placing my deck in it, I watched the auto shuffle function activate.

" Alright let's begin the show." Riley said in a manner much like a performer as he gave an almost mocking bow.

" Duel !" All three of us said as we drew our starting hands.

" I'll take the first move." My opponent declared. " And I'll start by activating the spell card Snake Rain. This lets me discard a card and send four reptiles monsters from my deck to my graveyard."

He looked through his deck and sent four monsters to the graveyard after showing them to me. I unfortunately didn't recognize any of them, neither did Riley.

" Next I'll banish all the reptiles in my graveyard in order to special summon Evil Dragon Ananta from my hand." The blue jacketed boy said, " it gains 600 attack for each monster I banished meaning it has 2400 attack points. I'll set three facedowns and end my turn."

" Ladies and Gentlemen allow please allow me to entertain you." Riley said while drawing a card. My hand consisted of: Dark World Dealings, Imaginary Actor, Polymerization, Snake Clown, Ego boost, and Heavy Storm.

{ " It's a good opening hand to make a statement."} I remarked before giving Riley his instructions, I'd end this as soon as possible. { " Use Heavy Storm first then fusion summon Metarion King Cobrastar. Use Ego Boost and then Metarion Cobrastar's choice effect to go for game."}

{ " Bummer I was hoping to drag this out, instead you want to one turn kill this guy."} Riley said.

"I'll start off by activating my Heavy Storm which will blow away all the spell traps on the field." Riley said before continuing the rest of my instructions. " Next I'll call out the star of the show by playing Polymerization to fuse my Imaginary Actor and Snake Clown together. Appear the star of tonight's entertainment Metarion King Cobrastar."

My fusion monster appeared and hissed menacingly at Evil Dragon Ananta. Then it seemed to tilt it's head towards me.

" Now I'll activate Ego Boost which raises Metarion King Cobrastar's attack points by 1000." Riley said placing the spell in with a dramatic flourish. " Then I activate Cobrastar's choice effect by sending one card from my hand to the graveyard I can either draw two cards and then send one to the graveyard. Or if there is a reptile monster on the field I can make up to three reptiles my opponent controls lose 1000 attack and defense points until the end of turn and this card can attack twice."

( Metarion King Cobrastar attack 4000.)

( Evil Dragon Ananta attack 1400.)

Ben delivers another mocking bow as he declares our first attack. It goes through as expected. Our second attack ends the game.

" My apologies for the short show." Riley says with a smirk.

Almost immediately there is some uproar at the results of the duel. However unlike before Crowler is having none of it.

" Silence." The Doctor's voice cuts through the students protests. "The agreement was if Mr. Poole won this matter would be dropped for the rest of the evening. Now the next person to speak on this matter tonight will be dropped to Ra Yellow, do I make myself clear?"

{ " You know I get the feeling I'm gonna like the good doctor."} Riley said.

{" Yeah I'm getting that feeling too."} I replied

{ " Ben time for you to take back control."} Riley said.

Immediately I braced for the agonizing pain that came with switching. Taking back control I was surprised that the amount of pain was far less than normal.

{" So did it hurt less for you too?"} Riley asked as I got food before sitting down at a table away from everyone else. Many of the other Obelisks were glaring at us while we ate.

{" Yeah, it must have something to do with the island or something on it."} I replied still shocked I wasn't in agonizing pain.

{ " Let's leave the welcoming dinner early and start looking around before going to watch Chazz try to duel Jaden."} Riley suggested while I was eating.

{" Sounds like a plan."} I said as I finished and got up to leave.

Author's Note:

Not a whole lot to say here. We got to see another Metarion monster in what was a very quick duel. Also the revelation that something about Duel Academy Island is making it a little easier for Ben and Riley to switch. Next chapter we get through the Jaden vs Chazz duel.
