III. Grey Skies

Waiting eagerly in her new green Corvette C6, Shego idly tapped the keys on her flip phone. The car had been customized to her exact specifications, not unlike… well, if Amy actually listened to her… Jade. Jade at this point in time, was simply an idea, and not really real to her. A nebulous image of a kitty cat. The manifestation of this whole thing was what made her so excited, the anticipation really was gnawing at her. At last, her phone rang. She answered before the first ring had even finished.

"Is... Jade ready?"

"I think you'll find she iiiis!" Amy crooned.

Shego grinned and cheered, rather uncharacteristically, and Amy did too. She smashed the end call button on her phone, turned on her car, and sped off, the vehicle quickly responding.

This car was perfect. Green sparkling paint, chestnut-toned leather, maple burlwood, state of the art stereo, and heated seats to boot. She adored this car, it was made for her, and she being the girl boss that she was, did not have to share her… "well earned"… money with anyone. Not like she used to, anyhow.

The wind lifted and ran through her long, jet black, shiny hair, becoming slightly tangled ribbons of black in the air. It was a cloudy, bright fall day. She was not the sentimental type, but the excitement of such a wholesome venture made her feel warm and fuzzy in a way. How wonderful would it be to have a kitty for the holidays?

Shego parked in the small parking lot behind a nondescript seemingly abandoned grey, minimalist, brutalist building. It was unmarked and surrounded by chain link fences and broken, old asphalt with faded lines. There was no signage nor embellishments, and it was certainly suspicious, and at the least, dreary and boring. But the interior was anything but. She rang the doorbell, and a light flickered above one of the many security cameras along the covert laboratory. The door unlocked, and Shego entered. It smelled sickly sweet as she walked down a narrow, stark white corridor. The corridor opened into a small parlor, adorned completely in pink decorations and furnishings. It was carpeted, sparkling, featuring stuffed animals, and bedazzled to a sort of sensory hell. But, to Amy's credit, it was utterly spotless.

In a small, partitioned room, a kettle whistled softly, and there crept out the woman of the hour, DNAmy. She seemed to have settled a little bit upon her release from prison. On camera she was plain in her pajamas, but during work hours, she was all done up. Her hair had small flips at the ends, as if she had spent a lot of time on it, and she, unlike her appearance on camera, had false lashes and sparkly makeup. Her long nails made her fingers curl and bend awkwardly with every task she used her hands for. Her round body sat down in the parlor, setting down a tea tray and the kettle.

"Tea, Shego? How are you these days, hun?" she asked, barely looking up as she gathered her papers and set out some pens.

"I'm doing. So, where is my kitty?", she sat down, promptly leaning forward to get the process going, genuinely engaged with the conversation.

Amy raised an eyebrow and looked at Shego over her glasses. "Well! Paperwork can wait." She stood up and gestured toward a massive glittering door. "Right this way." Shego nodded as it opened. In darkness, there were hints of what was within the main room... machines and cabinets and tanks of incredible scale. Amy clapped twice, and the lights turned on, the entire area bathed in stark, cold light, unlike the parlor, which was warm and sweet. The little lavender sparkling wedges that she wore clicked against the sharp linoleum. Shego's black heeled boots began to match her gait.

"First, I do need you to sign these papers..."

"Fine." Shego hastily signed the papers, her eyes darting back and forth, reading as quickly as possible.

"Why are you making me sign a petition to bring back Cuddle Buddies the Animated Adventures?"

Amy looked up from her screen. "Do whatever Shego," she frowned. "It's important to so many people... they're counting on us."

"Who is "us"? Who are "they"?", Shego asked, bewildered.

Amy ignored this question, pressed a few buttons, and stood in front of a large glass chamber, which was filled with a glowing green haze. The haze turned dark suddenly, and a mechanical whir was heard. The glass lifted.

"Here she is!", Amy exclaimed, completely giddy.

From the eerie fog, there arose a short shadow. The shadow was… rounder… than Shego had anticipated. Parting the fog was the subject of Shego's every thought that entire day. The moment had come! Out from the haze, there emerged a corpulent figure.

A feline Carnera.

Jade was not at all what Shego had expected, and wide-eyed, mouth agape, she audibly gasped. The cat was enormous. And not enormous like a panther, but enormous in girth and figure, easily the fattest cat she had ever seen. The cat looked like she would have been beautiful, but was greatly weighed down by her obesity, her tiny legs becoming tired after a few moments, and she laid down in a loafy blob. A big red bow adored Jade's neck, further punctuating the fact that she really didn't have a neck. Shego slowly turned to Amy, who held her hands to her face and smiled cheekily.

"Why- why is she so… big?", Shego managed to sputter out.

"What do you have against chubby things?!", Amy put her fists on her hips, glaring at Shego.

"I don't care! I just wanted a cat THAT COULD RUN AND PLAY!" Shego angrily shouted, her hands balled into fists as her ire was concentrated in the direction of the bookish woman.

Jade wandered toward Shego and butted her head into her leg. Shego looked down slowly, her rage softening, as she looked at Jade, caught off guard. She felt compelled to look into Jade's eyes. Jade had beautiful, almost glowing eyes, radioactive peridot, within them deep black slits. Jade nearly looked like she had eyeliner, the black around her eyes further accentuated them. Her face was sweet and cute, but also mysterious, and, in a strange way, elegant. Her cheeks and chin were enveloped in chubby skin, and her nose was pink, her muzzle looked as though she was smiling. Jade was adorable, and though Shego was disappointed, none-the-less, her cold heart melted just slightly. Shego bent down, petting the chonky cat. Jade rolled to her stomach, and at that moment, Shego felt a connection between herself and the kitty.

She patted Jade on her tummy, and Jade purred contently.

"She already knows it's you, and that she is yours and you-" Amy put her hands to her heart, "-are hers. I made her that way. To love you. And be loyal only to you. Only, the way things were going, she just wouldn't have been that cute. And she needed to be cute! Uh, You knew that! I simply cannot help myself." Amy rambled, panicking toward the end as she realized she subjected Shego to such tonal whiplash. Shego looked utterly unnerved, but quickly returned to her usual demeanor.

"I'm not paying you all that. You'll get another ten grand only. I know what you did. You know what you did," she shook her head and glared at Amy, who had her hands to her face, looking quite anxious.

Jade thought not about the argument before her, nor the disappointment felt by her new owner, as her small mind was occupied only by kitty thoughts and dreams of cheese and fish.

Perhaps the freakish Amy Hall did not intend harm after all…

Squatting down to pick up Jade, she huffed, angry but willing to take home the cat and take her in as her pet. She was sure she could make the cat work, and certain she could even get the cat back to health and make sure Jade could run and play. And that sweet little face was just undeniably wonderful! She had to admit, Jade was super cute...

Shego entered the lair again, and found Drakken, standing there, his hands clasped together, grinning. While this was not a foreign thing to her, it was nonetheless suspicious. He acted as if he was surprised, and something about that grin told her he had something he wanted to share.

"What did you do?", she demanded.

"Nothing too grand, nothing too grand… not much to speak of." Drakken paused, with a smile. The silence seemed to overwhelm him.

"Well, I did do something!", he blurted out. He tilted his head, grinning wider.

"Drakken. You're always up to something. I have a cat in a dog crate in my hand. I can't deal with your shenanigans right now."

He smirked. "Ah! Just you wait, Shego. Just you wait…"

She rolled her eyes and smiled as turned around, groaning as she lifted the crate, readjusting her grip. Jade meowed. Drakken whipped around, his arms lifted slightly as if ready to take action. His crazy eyes snapped to the crate. His reaction was unexpected. He leaned back a bit and put his hands on his hips. His brow softened. "Aw. That's a cute little guy!... Whoa! That's- not little." Shego turned her head to him, her eyes matching his.

He suddenly felt as if he were somewhere else… those eyes of hers were full of mystique, and in this moment… full of joy, a subdued joy. Her hair elegantly framed her face, further accentuating her vampy, sultry appearance. Drakken paused internally. This sentiment faded more quickly than it had arrived.

"Little gal. I named her Jade."

"That's a lot of cat Shego. Well, the more the merrier," he smiled.

A/N

Don't worry! I know you probably came for the main characters, but not to worry, Jade is but the "glue" of the story. I love the idea of Shego having a pet kitty cat. I kind of rushed this chapter, because I wanted to share the chapters I had already written. There will be plenty of Drakken and Shego coming up!
