Chapter 6
An hour passed for the anxious group of family and friends. The toddlers are dosed off in their mothers' warm arms. Kagome lays her head onto Inuyasha's shoulder. Inuyasha wraps his own arm around her to make sure he's there. Only him, Miroku and Sesshomaru are the only ones awake. No one can really bring up a conversation to pass the time. The tension in the waiting room is more than enough to keep it silent.
The doors that the doctor took Moroha into the operating room open up. Inuyasha shakes Kagome up. "Are you Moroha's parents?" The doctor asks Inuyasha and Kagome. They nod to him. "I'm pleased to inform you that your daughter is doing just fine. She's in her room sleeping due to the anesthesia. Only two guests." The doctor gives his news to Inuyasha and Kagome. Kagome hugs Inuyasha tightly. "Can we go see her?" Kagome asks him beggingly.
The doctor nods. "Yes. Just you too for now. I'm sorry but everyone must wait until it's ok for more guests to see her." Inuyasha nods as he and Kagome follow the doctor to their daughter's room, leaving everyone else behind. Rin scoops up her twins into her arms. "Looks like Moroha will be ok after all. We should go home." She said to Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru remains silent throughout the way home. Everyone else in the group does the same and head home.
Moroha moans as she opens her brown eyes. Her sight is fuzzy as well as bright. She looks around to see that she's in a room with an I.V. next to her bed with the tube attached to her wrist. Her hair is down instead of her signature ponytail. She tries to side up, but she feels so weak to even move. "What am I?" She murmurs to herself.
The door opens alerting the little girl. "Moroha." Kagome hugs her daughter first. "Momma? What happened to me?" Moroha asks her mother. "Take it easy, kiddo. You had appendicitis." Inuyasha said to her as he hugs her too. "Appendi-what?" Moroha tilts her head, not knowing the big word she never heard before.
"You had appendicitis. You just had a really bad tummy ache. Here." The doctor shows her a picture of the internal organ that go infected. Kagome and Inuyasha already know about the human body and everything. But Moroha is just a toddler and doesn't know much about it.
"And that made my tummy hurt?" Moroha asks the doctor. The doctor smiles down to her. "Yes, you see here, that little thing right there is right next to your tummy, which was why you weren't feeling so well. But don't worry, me and my team were able to get that little thing out, so it won't hurt you anymore."
Moroha smiles back. "Thank you so much for saving me." Kagome and Inuyasha smile down to her. The doctor returns the smile. "You are very welcome. Now if you don't mind, I'd like to take to your parents for a minute." The doctor turns to the parents with a look of seriousness in his eyes. "We'll be right back, baby." Kagome kisses her daughter's head.
The doctor, Inuyasha and Kagome step outside of Moroha's room. "What I told your daughter was true. However, there's something bothering her body." The doctor shows the parents the image of Moroha's information. "I'm fully aware about your kind, no offense. Somehow her blood is. More like her demon blood was got me worried."
"Did she lose a lot of blood during the operation?" Kagome asks him worryingly. The doctor shakes his head. "No, somehow, her demon blood was somehow trying to keep her conscious. Even the anesthesia wasn't enough. But she was able to relax after using some knock out medicine." He explains to them.
"It's come to my attention that at one point that Moroha's demon blood might act up and make she could lose control of her humanity." Just hearing that made Kagome look down hopeless. "Is there any way to suppress her demon blood?" Inuyasha asks him. The doctor shakes his head. "No. I know for a fact that there's supposed to be an item that can do. I see you're a half demon. I take it you have something that does it."
Inuyasha nods, "Yeah, I have a family heirloom that has that purpose. Maybe that can help Moroha in some way." He smiles. "Then go get it, I can't have our daughter be in that state. Please hurry." Kagome demands him. Inuyasha nods and heads off back to his house to get the heirloom.
"You see Moroha is a quarter demon because Inuyasha's a half demon, and I'm just a regular human with spiritual powers. I think Moroha has inherited my powers but hasn't developed yet due to being a toddler. She's not even in school yet. Do you think that the appendicitis was on purpose?" Kagome asks the question to the doctor curiously.
"Appendicitis happens when the appendix is infected by a virus, bacteria and maybe inflamed. This is a rare case for Moroha because it only happens to those between the ages of 10-30. It could be something where it happened that cause it in the first place." The doctor answers her professionally.
"The thing is that my daughter lives with my family at the Higurashi Shrine because me and Inuyasha have something that we cannot involve her, let alone be a family. We were going to do that today, but when we arrived, we found her in her bedroom with a high fever." Kagome said to him.
"Maybe you missed something that your daughter might've contacted. But we can't assume immediately. In the meantime, we'll have her until it's ok for her to go home." The doctor suggested his idea to her. "I agree, I'm sure that Moroha will be ok even more when Inuyasha brings in the heirloom he said earlier to help with her demon blood."
"I'm back." Inuyasha calls back to them with a sword in his grasp. "You should know we don't allowed weapons in here." The doctor frowns at him. "Hey, this here is what keeps my demon blood in check." Inuyasha shows the sword in its sheath. "Fine. Let's make sure it works." The doctor sighs and let's them back into the room where Moroha is resting.
"When can I go home, mommy?" Moroha asks Kagome. Kagome sits down next to her. "For a few days, honey. You're still tired from waking up. You need to be here to get better." Kagome said back softly. Moroha looks down sadly. "But I want to go home with you and daddy." She weeps.
Inuyasha sits down next to her on the other side of the hospital bed. "Hey, don't be like. I brought this with me." Inuyasha hands over the big sword. Moroha looks at the weapon with awe. "What's this, daddy?"
Inuyasha smiles, "This here is the Tetsusaiga. A powerful sword." Moroha places her tiny hand onto the worn-out hilt. Once grasped, she can feel a strong sensation from the sword. "Can I keep it, daddy?" She asks him innocently. Inuyasha had to chuckle at that request.
"I'm sorry. But this sword is too big for you to have. Let alone use. I just brought it here so that you can feel the connection that I have with it. I promise that I'll find something that can be like this. I'm going to be with you for awhile and your mom will do the same." He nuzzles his daughter's head even though Moroha pouts.
A few hours later, Inuyasha returns to his house after spending the day with Moroha and Kagome. He never expected today was going to be like this, from the school being closed due to a hacker, to finding his daughter having appendicitis. He couldn't believe it. He needs to get a hold of this hacker who called itself The Purifier. After about a half an hour, he hasn't gotten much about the hacker itself. Even in this day in age, technology has been quite convenient for him and his brother. They were naturals to learn about it in a flash.
He decides to see if any of yesterday's session had anything he can do to connect the hacker that jacked the school system. After watching footage after footage from all the cameras in the classroom, he spotted one of the student quite suspiciously. Going through the seating arrangement, he looked down to the student who sits in that desk. "Ok so you're my suspect in this case. Let's see if I can find out more about you?"
He goes through the school's records to find out more about the student's information. From where his place of residence to see if the student has a cell phone as well. "Well well well. You do have some stuff that has caught my interest." He grins to see what he was able to discover about the student. He sniffs a familiar scent approaching his door.
He stands up to open the door to see Kagome with a distraught look. "Inuyasha, I know it's against the rules of our jobs not to live with each other, but after what happened, I can't stand being away from you, let alone our daughter." Kagome tries to speak her mind. Inuyasha knows for sure that she's scared. That's for certain. Tears coming for her closed eyes is more than enough to convince him. "Come here." Inuyasha pulls her into his arms as she begins to cry on his chest. Even though she's crying, Inuyasha had to be brave for her.
Inuyasha doesn't waste another moment to bring her into his house and put her onto his bedroom, ignoring the current task at hand. Kagome sees the bed unmade. "Inuyasha? What are you…" Inuyasha places his finger onto her lips to stop the question. "Tell me, Kagome. When was the last time we've been like this? Just you and me, without any interruptions?" Inuyasha asks her hotly.
Kagome takes her time to think back when such an event happened before this whole fiasco started. "Before we had Moroha." She confirms it. Inuyasha nods. "Exactly. Ever since then, we weren't allow to do that again. But I don't give a fuck about it. All I want is to be with you and her, to be a family again." He kisses her smoothly. Kagome didn't care either, she greedily accepts the kiss and returns it with her own passion in it. Inuyasha doesn't waste another moment to strip down to his own boxers with Kagome to her panties and bra.
Once nude, Inuyasha can see his claim make of his name on the junction of Kagome's shoulder and neck. "How's it holding up." He asks as he rubs the mark tenderly. Kagome smiles. "It's going great. This has calmed me down whenever I'm lonely." Inuyasha bites the mark to make it more powerful for the both of them. "What are we going to do when Moroha is out of the hospital? We can't leave her at my mother's forever." Kagome asks him after making out with him. Inuyasha pulls her onto his chest and wraps her in his arms. "I know we both have our jobs to catch the hacker. But Moroha's case is something we cannot ignore anymore. One of us will have to be with her at all times. Have you ever done that remote learning?" Inuyasha rubs circles on her arms.
Kagome stays silent for a few seconds. "If that's going have to be done, I'll have to inform my classes about it. It's going to hard to teach the class without the equipment that the classroom has for me. And I can't take that home with me." She points out. Inuyasha can tell that she's stuck for this. Where will she get the equipment when they have to do their lab work.
"How about I do it then." He offers her. She looks up to him. "I'm a demon and I know fully well about my classes as their lessons, not to mention I just need to have a dry-erase-board to show them what they need to learn. It's best that I do the remote learning." Inuyasha gives out his idea.
Kagome knows for sure that Inuyasha's right about all. "If you say so. We just have to inform the faculty about this. It's just we can't simply say that our daughter is sick and needs to be taken care of. Why not use the term niece so that they wouldn't get suspicious." Kagome gives her idea wisely. Inuyasha nods to a tee. "I was thinking the same thing. I don't want the school to know anything about our true identities. I'll let the class know tomorrow and set up my lessons for them."
Kagome hums and snuggles into his embrace. "Do you remember when Moroha was born?" She asks him silently. Inuyasha nuzzles his head onto hers. "Yeah. It was like yesterday…"
