Chapter 8

Moroha wakes up in a bad mood. "What's the matter, sweetie?" a nurse asks her kindly. "I want to be in my own bed back home." She whines with a pout on her cute face. The nurse could only sympathize with the kid. "I know what you mean. It's never fun to be somewhere where you don't feel comfortable." She said to her.

"Not to mention, my mommy and daddy are working all day and never see me when they're done for the day." Moroha crossed her arms with a frown. The nurse nods. "Yeah, it can be quite lonely without them around. Does someone else in the family spend the day with you?" She asks the child curiously.

"Just my Grammy and grandpa Higurashi. And sometimes Uncle Sota." Moroha simply answers the nurse as she checks the IV by the bed. "How's the boo boo?" She asks the kid sweetly. Moroha lifts her shirt to see a scar on her tummy. "It appears that the doctor did a good job of taking care of that appendix." The nurse comments. But Moroha frowns deeply. "I just want my mommy and daddy." She whimpers. That shows the nurse how scare she is.

Kagome walks down the hall of the hospital that Moroha is recovering. She is about to enter the room with the door open and heard what her daughter said. "I just want my mommy and daddy." That made Kagome regret her decision about her job. 'How could I be so selfish.' Kagome thought so upset. She enters the room. "Moroha. I'm here." Kagome said to her and the nurse. "I'll leave you two alone." The nurse excuses herself and leaves the room.

"Mommy? Where's daddy?" Moroha asks her the moment the nurse left. Kagome takes a chair and sit next to the bed. "Daddy is at work. I'm on break." She said to her daughter was a smile. Moroha looks a bit confused. "But you and daddy work together. If you're here, who's taking your place?" She asks her mother.

Kagome takes a hold of the child's hand. "Auntie Rin is going to take over until you're all better." That alone made Moroha hug her with tears of happiness. "Oh mommy. I just want to go home." Kagome embraces her daughter carefully due to the IV on her arm. "I know, baby. But for now we need to get you better here. I'll be with you all day. I believe I brought some things that will cheer you up." Kagome pulls out her tote bag and pulls out her red blankie. "My woobie!" Moroha reaches over and hugs the blanket to her face to inhale her scent on it. "As well as these." Kagome brought out a coloring book with crayons. "I'm bored, mommy. Let's get coloring." Moroha pulls the bed tray over the bed so she and Kagome can enjoy coloring together.

Inuyasha gets out of his car at the school parking lot. "I'd be at the hospital." He murmurs to himself. "Hey." Rin calls out from one of the other cars parked in the parking lot. "Oh Rin. I take it you sweet talked to Sesshomaru about Moroha." Rin nods. "I had to because they're family." She giggles in the end. "So you are called Toga, and I'll be Miyuka." Rin shows her fake ID with the name. "Ok Miyuka. You know where Kagome's class is?" Inuyasha questions her casually. "Oh don't worry about that. I have everything in my disposal." Rin pulls out a pair of black glasses. "Do you think those would make you stand out?" Inuyasha asks with his one eyebrow raised.

"Ah, Toga. You show know that these babies have a camera in this spot." Rin taps the top of the pair with her tiny finger. "As well as the other devices to keep an eye on the school. I'm way ahead of you." She said proudly. Inuyasha chuckles. "Yeah, pretty much. Let's just not get Kagome jealous of this." He teases her.

"Toga, you have to watch what you say about your wife. You would never hear the end of it." Rin points out to him. Inuyasha gave her a nervous glance before heading to his classroom. Rin enters the office. "Excuse me. I'm Miyuka Hoji. I'm here to be the substitute teacher for Mrs. Aino's science class." Rin said politely to the workers.

"Oh welcome to our school, Mrs. Hoji. I heard that Mrs. Aino had to take care of her child because the kid is in the hospital." The worker said as she hands over the file. "I just hope that her child will get better fast. We don't want to lose another teacher." Rin said before leaving the office. She memorized the school's layout and knew which way the classroom is located. She enters the room and can see that the equipment that Kagome set up is still mounted. 'At least we can keep an eye on these students.' She thought to herself as she gets herself settled at the desk.

"Rin can you hear me?" Sesshomaru voice speaks into her earpiece. "Loud and Clear." She responds to him. "Good, you are to find if any of your students know anything the terrorist attack." He reminds her about the mission's purpose. "Don't worry. I'm pretty certain that one of them will crack before we know it." Rin said to him confidently. Sesshomaru remains quiet and watches the day unfolds.

Rin writes her fake name on the dry eraser board. It doesn't take long for her first period class to begin. "Good Morning, students." She smiles to them nicely. "Good morning, Ms. Hoji." The class responds back to her. Rin smiles widen. "I know this is new to some of you. You see that your teacher Mrs. Aino won't be around for a few days because her daughter isn't feeling well. Little do you know that she and I are close so we make sure we have each other's back. Anyway, let's begin." Rin begins her lesson for the day.

"Rin don't go telling them about your relationship with Kagome." Sesshomaru warns her in her earpiece. "Relax. Besides one of them will properly use that against again. I didn't say what her name was. Not to mention their last names are different." Rin reminds him quietly.

The bell rings to tell the school that it's time for lunch. Rin takes her stuff and heads to the teacher lounge to meet and greet the other teachers in the room. She enters to see Inuyasha and another teacher. "Oh Toga I see we have another teacher here." Rin smiles at him. "Oh, hello there. I'm Misako Bemo Social Studies teacher." She offers Rin her hand. "Nice to me you. I'm Miyuka Hoji." Rin shakes her hand to Misako.

"I heard about Mrs. Aino having to take care of her daughter. I how she gets well soon." Misako said to them. Inuyasha keeps his posture in check. "No one should ever have their child sick. Even if the mother is a teacher as well, her child comes first." Rin comments to her.

"Oh. What about the father? Is he supposed to be responsible as well?" Misako asks innocently.

Inuyasha can feel his demon within him about to surface even through his human disguise. 'I can't blow my cover.' He tells himself in a demanding tone.

"Hard to say. Even if the child has the father's blood inside, it comes to their duty to prove what he can do for the child." Inuyasha added in.

"Married, separated or divorced, no parent should ever abandon their child." Misako frowns. Rin looks closely to the teacher. Misako is dressed in a teal green blouse with a black skirt to her knees with tights and low heel shoes. Her hair is short inky black with a set of light violet eyes.

Rin looks down to her hands, just to be sure, she can see that Misako does have a few rings on her finger. "Curious rather or not I was taken?" Misako joked to Rin. Rin shakes her head. "No, I didn't mean to be rude." Rin laughs nervously while rubbing the back of her neck in embarrassment.

"Don't worry about. I used to be in a relationship, but it didn't end well." Misako smiles sadly. "This ring here…" She shows the left index finger that has a gold band with a ruby gem on it. "It used to be his promise ring." Inuyasha and Rin can see how nice that piece of jewelry is.

"Have you tried taking it off?" Rin questions her politely. "I tried every trick in the book to get this off, but it's stuck in good." Misako frowns at the end. The bell rings again. "We might as well get back to class." Misako dismisses the room to go back to her classroom to resume her lessons.

"I was able to smell her blood on the finger very unsettling." Inuyasha informs Rin. "Toga, do you think that ring is something else instead of a piece of jewelry?" Rin asks him quietly. "Maybe. Normally whenever your blood is blocked off by an outside force. Take her ring for example. That blood will build up and then the spot will darken. When she said that she couldn't take it out. I think she doesn't want to because it's a memento to the person she was promised to. Not just that ring, but also the other rings on her fingers are unusual." Inuyasha explains to Rin. "I'll see you later." Rin waves to Inuyasha before entering her classroom.

Rin sees a girl in her room. "Oh, Saki?" she asks the child who is sitting in one of the tables. "Hello. Ms. Hoji. I'm sorry. I didn't know that Mrs. Aino was absent. I was hoping she could help me with something." Saki fiddles her thumbs showing how shy she is. "Maybe I could help you." Rin smiles to the girl nicely. Saki shakes her head. "It's more of a very personal issue." She doesn't want to share her problem to Rin.

"Oh ok. I'm just taking her place because her child isn't feeling well." Rin explains her reason to be here. Saki nods. "I see. I'm sorry I came. I'll leave for class." Saki excuses herself. Rin can somehow few a sorrow aura. It's not just that. But there's something else that Rin needs to know more about Saki.
