Chapter 9

Rin heads out to her car. "Any luck?" Inuyasha asks as he comes up to her. Rin takes off her glasses. "I'm not sure. So far we know little about Misako. And there's a student named Saki and she was hoping to talk to Kagome about something. She seems disappointed to see me instead of her." Rin answers with a sigh. "Anyway, I'm heading to do some research about today." She gets into her car and drives off.

Inuyasha gets into his own car and decides to head home to change into more comfortable clothes. 'Not much happened on my end. Even though I'm a half demon, I would've known something about each of the student that attended my class.' He thinks to himself.

It doesn't take him that long to get home. He pulls into the driveway to find Kagome's car here as well. Even though they have to live in separate houses for their daughter's sake, they gave each other a key to make sure they can work together. He comes into the house to smell not just Kagome's scent but also Moroha's.

"Kagome? Moroha?" He calls out to them but no answer. He looks down to shoe rack and takes off his shoes, and sees Kagome's and Moroha's shoes, but neither of them are wearing the house slippers that Inuyasha bought for them. He walks around the place. The kitchen, the living room, office, bathrooms, the guest bedroom, and his bedroom. No sign of either. He goes to his porch to see if they're outside. Nope.

'Ok this is just weird. Kagome's car is here, but she and Moroha aren't here. What's going on?' He asks himself in annoyance. Maybe he missed something. He goes back to the driveway where Kagome's car is parked. He looks carefully to see if anything happened to the vehicle. No damage, no dents or scratches. He even checks her license plate. He sniffs the area to pick up on her scent, but it's gone. Only in his house.

"I might as well go to the hospital. Maybe their still there." He runs back into his house to changes into his red polo shirt and deep blue jeans and shoes on. He gets back into his car and heads off to the hospital.

Inuyasha arrives in the parking garage of the hospital parking lot. He knows which way Moroha's room is. He enters to see it empty. No new patient is occupying the room. Bed sheets are replaced with a new set as well.

"This doesn't make sure." He said to himself. He headed off to the desk when he first entered. "Excuse me." He gets one of the nurses' attention. "Yes, can I help you?" One of the nurses said to him politely. "I'm Inuyasha Takahashi and my daughter is Moroha Takahashi. My daughter had appendicitis. Did they leave the building?" Inuyasha asks her as calmly as he could.

The nurse types down the name of the patient's name on the computer. "No, She's still here. Can you tell me which room you went in the last time you visited your daughter?" She said to him with certainty.

Inuyasha thinks back to the room he was just in. "It was room 104." He informs her. The nurse typed down the room number. "It appears she had to be moved to a different room. She's in room 304 in the west wing of the building. Do you know where that is?" The nurse tells him.

"I can find it myself. Thanks." He leaves the room and goes to the direct of the west wing. He takes the elevator and presses the button to the 3rd floor of the building. The doors open to reveal Kagome waiting for it. "Oh my god, Inuyasha." Kagome cries as soon as Inuyasha gets out of the elevator. Inuyasha can immediately tell that something is bothering her. "Kagome, What's wrong? Did something happen?" Inuyasha takes hold of her shoulders to calm her down.

"I've been trying to get a hold of you all day but you never picked up." Kagome said to him in between breaths. Inuyasha pulls out his phone to turn it on, but it's dead. "Oh shit. My phone fucking died. What's going on?" He said to her. "It's Moroha. She's in the I.C.U."

Inuyasha is shocked. "How could this have happened? She was doing just fine yesterday." He points out as he and Kagome enter the room where Moroha is in. Inuyasha gasps to see a breathing mask on Moroha's little face as well with a monitor next to her. Kagome pulls out her phone charger and a plug so she can let Inuyasha charge his phone. They sit down in two separate chairs. It didn't take long for Inuyasha's phone to turn back on. He sees that Kagome tried to call over 10 times in an hour. As well 20 text messages from her.

He opens up the app to see the feed. A few times there were messages saying, "Where are you?" a couple times. "I didn't know my phone died on me. I thought I had it charged while I was at school." Inuyasha sets the phone down to look at Kagome who looks worried about their daughter. "Can you tell me what happened today while I was at work?"

A few hours ago

'I was with Moroha, having a great time with her so that she wasn't lonely or scared.' Kagome starts off. 'We did everything we could possibly think of. Coloring, playing games. Anything to pass the time.' She adds in remembering her day with Moroha.

All of a sudden, Moroha starts coughing miserably. 'Moroha somehow coughed blood. I don't what could have caused this.'

"Mommy…" Moroha said weakly. Kagome presses the emergency button by the bed to alert the staff. About a second later two nurses enter the room. "What's the matter?" One of the nurses asks the mother.

"My daughter is coughing blood. What's wrong with my baby?" Kagome said to the one nurse frantically.

"It appears that she has hemoptysis. Can you tell us why brings you here?" The other nurse tells her. Kagome told them that Moroha had appendicitis. "Hmm. That's unusual. Her appendix was removed two days ago. And now all of a sudden, she's been coughing blood. It's extremely. I've never seen this before." The nurse said to her. "We will have to take her to the pediatric care in the west wing for a pediatrician to check on her." She advises Kagome.

"Just do whatever you can to save my baby." Kagome begs the two nurses as they begin to move the bed towards the direction of the west wing. "I need a pediatrician to attend the west wing stat." The one nurse calls through the building to get the assigned doctor's attention.

It doesn't take that long for the bed to be place in one of the I.C.U unit rooms in the west wind. "I was with Moroha until a doctor entered the room. "Hello, I'm Dr. Jurino. I'm the pediatrician here." The doctor was a woman with a doctor's coat with her name tag. "I've been informed that your daughter was coughing blood. How long has this happened?" She asks Kagome.

'I told her that it was about 5 minutes.' Dr. Jurino nods. "Ok, Does she have medical problems?" She asks Kagome. "Nothing of the sort. You see, my daughter is a quarter demon because of her father who is a half demon." Kagome tells the doctor. The doctor was aware children having demon blood due to their parents' demon blood. "I see. Well, your child is four years old. One reason why she's coughing blood is because somehow her demon blood is trying to take over the healing process instead of your human blood." She theorized so far.

"Another one could be bronchitis. Which is rare. But from the looks of it, she needs someone to donate blood to her because she's low on since the coughing. Do you or the father have the same blood type. "I don't know, I just hope one of us is. You can take my blood to deter if I'm a match. I have to inform my husband about this as well." Kagome said as she gets to her phone and tries to get a hold of Inuyasha.

'But I couldn't reach you. I don't know if you knew that your phone died got into something else.'

End of Flashback

Inuyasha didn't see this happen. "But something doesn't add up." He said to her. Kagome looks at him. "When I got home, your care was there. I was able to pick up your scent as well as Moroha's scent. But you weren't there." He said to her.

Kagome nods. "I was about to head back to the hospital because I forgot one of Moroha's card games that she wanted to play. But then my car wouldn't start so I had to ask my mom to give a lift to the hospital." She explains to him. "That explains why your scent was fresh when I got there. The least you could've done is to leave me note." Inuyasha crossed his arms.

"I was in a hurry that I forgot. I tried to tell you on the phone. I'm sorry." Kagome crossed her arms in a reflective manner. "But now, we need to see rather or not you're a match to Moroha. My blood wasn't a match sadly." Kagome rolls up her left sleeve to show the bandage where her blood was drawn.

Inuyasha can smell it faintly. "Oh. Well let's just hope mine will be. Did the doctor know that I'm here?" He asks her softly. Kagome rolls down the sleeve. "I'll go out and let her know that you're here." Kagome leaves the room, much to Inuyasha's protest even for a short while. He turns his sight to his daughter. 'How could this have happened? She was healing from surgery and now this. He walks to the side of the bed to see Moroha unconscious. He had to be strong for her.

Kagome returns with the doctor behind. "Mr. Takahashi." She said to him seriously. Inuyasha turns to see the doctor. "I've been informed that you have arrived. We need to make sure rather or not you're a match to your daughter. Please come with me." She tells him seriously. Inuyasha obeys her and leaves the room. 'Let's just this will work.' Inuyasha prayers to save Moroha.
