Chapter 10
Inuyasha enters an empty room behind a nurse who is going to draw his blood. Inuyasha knows how this goes. He rolls up his sleeve and lies the left arm onto the armrest of the seat. The nurse ties a thick rubber band above his elbow and wipes the spot where she has to pinch the needle into the clean. "Hold still for me." She tells him as she begins the process. The little needle pokes into the area and absorbs some of Inuyasha's blood. One tube fills up quickly. The nurse unties the rubber band and places a bandage patch over the needle before pulling it out.
"You're free to go. We'll give this to the doctor to make sure you're a match." The nurse said to him as Inuyasha said thanks and leaves the room. He returns to Moroha's room to see Kagome going through her phone to pass the time until he came back. "I gave them some of my blood." He simply said to Kagome as he sits next to her.
"Do you know what your blood type is?" Kagome asks him curiously. Inuyasha shakes his head. "No clue. I didn't know anything about blood types back them. All I knew what just human and demon blood." Kagome doesn't know what to say about it. She can't blame him either. "Do you have Moroha's birth certificate." Inuyasha asks her.
Kagome knows for a fact that she had Moroha at this hospital so it should be easy for her to ask someone who works here to get access to the data. "I might know where to go ask." Kagome dials down a number on her smartphone to make a call.
"Hello, Kagome." It was her mother on the other line. "Hey, mom. I need you do me a tiny favor." Kagome said back to her. "Sure, what is it?" Her mother asks her. "I need to know what my blood type is. Because Moroha needs a blood donor." Kagome said to her mother calmly. "I'll go through your birth certificate as well as the bracelet that was with you when you were born. Give me a minute and I'll get back to you." Her mother answers and then hangs up.
Kagome hangs up on her end. "Instead of the hospital, you called your mother." Inuyasha raised his one eyebrow. "If there's one thing that my mom can do is get my information when I was born. From the parents, the location, as well as the blood type.
It doesn't take long for Kagome's phone to vibrate. It was her mother. "Hey, mom." She answers the call. "Kagome, your blood type is B-." Kagome isn't sure about the attributes of B-. "Your blood type was from your father who was also a B-. Mine is O-. I might be able to help, as long as Moroha's a match. What about Inuyasha?" She asks Kagome over the line. "We're waiting for his results. No idea." Kagome said back to her mother. "Ok. Let me know how it goes ok." She then hangs up.
"Turns out I'm B-." Kagome tells him. Inuyasha looks confused. "What is B-? Is it bad?" He asks her. Kagome giggles at that scene. "No. There are 4 different types blood that every living thing has. Here's how it goes. Kagome brings out the tablet she used to play with Moroha. "The types are A,B, AB, and O." She writes them downwards. "Type O is the most common because it can be universal for those who need it. AB however is rare. If there were a time that someone who need a donor to help out, they need to find someone else with the same blood type." She tries to explain it to him as easy as she could.
"So far, your blood type is B-. So, then Moroha's blood should be the same as mine." Inuyasha narrows it down. "Did you mother say what her blood type is?" Kagome nods. "Hers is O-. She can be a donor as long as Moroha's doesn't reject it."
The door opens to reveal Dr. Jurino. "Inuyasha Takahashi." She said to him immediately. "Yes." Inuyasha stood up. The doctor hands over her tablet to show his results. "Seems that you are a match for your daughter." That made Kagome hug him in relief. Inuyasha returns it. "However due to your demon heritage, it can be fatal for your daughter's tiny body." The doctor cuts the positive vibe down.
"What are you talking about? One moment you tell me that my blood can save my daughter and yet there's something else that can prevent it." Inuyasha growls lowly to the doctor. The doctor isn't fazed by his threat. "All I'm saying is that you're way too old to do so. Is there anyone in the family who is closer to Moroha's age?"
Kagome is confused. "What a minute. I thought that age didn't matter in a situation like." She points out to the doctor. "Yes. But it's not really the age gap that concerns me. I know for you're a half demon, as such you should have a period of weakness that turns you into a human."
Inuyasha should've seen this coming. "I do. I just don't know if it'll be too late to save her. I only turn into a human on the night of the new moon. It's the only time I turn human." He explains his abilities. "We need to know when the next new moon will happen."
The doctor said to him as she goes through a different app to deter when the new moon will happen. "You have 2 days left. It should suffice for now. But we should also see if there's anyone else in the family who can save Moroha other than you."
"My mom told me that she is O-. Is she a possibility?" Kagome gives the doctor what she found out so far. The doctor turns to her. "Maybe. I know that yours isn't a match." The doctor confirms it.
"There's one way…" Inuyasha speaks to her gloomily. Kagome is about to stop him from talking, but Inuyasha stops her. "There's my brother and his family. I don't know if they're cooperate though." Kagome groans as she sits back in her seat.
"Could you tell me about him, Mr. Takahashi. That way we know for sure…" The doctor urged him to speak. "First of all, he and I are half-brothers. Same dad, different moms. He's out of the question due to being a full demon. His wife Rin is a human like Kagome. They have twin daughters named Towa and Setsuna. The twins are half demons like me, just without the ears." The doctor writes down so far.
"What about the twins being half demons. How old are they?" She asks another question quickly. "They're 4 years old like Moroha but only a few months older." Inuyasha answers her. "Well, from what you told me, it appears that the other potential candidates would've helped out if they weren't so young." The doctor frowns at that part.
"What do you mean by that?" Kagome asks her. "The law forbids anyone under the age of sixteen to donate blood. I guess that's out the question to help Moroha." The doctor answers her gravely.
"Looks like I'm the only option left." Inuyasha points out to her.
"Afraid so. Until the new moon arrives, I need you to be here to help save Moroha." The doctor reminds Inuyasha for the upcoming event. She leaves the room so that the parents can discuss the matter.
It was fairly quiet, other than the oxygen tank and heart monitors to keep Moroha alive. "I should've brought up Sesshomaru." Inuyasha groans to stop the silence with a growl.
Kagome looks at him. "Do you honestly think he would risk his own daughters' lives to save ours? If he were to find out about this, we'd be dead. Even if I told Rin, she'd be devastated." Kagome retaliates at him.
"To be frank with you Inuyasha, I was determined to give my blood to Moroha. Even if my results are true." Kagome admits to him.
"Kagome, I think something is off about this." He said to her after a short pause. "Ever since Moroha had her appendix removed, something else happened while she was trying to recover. Something unrelated."
Kagome had to think about what he said. "From appendicitis to coughing blood. It's somehow unrelated. But how?" She murmurs, even though Inuyasha clearly heard her.
"Maybe someone here must've done something to her that we missed." She gives her idea. Inuyasha nods back. "Exactly. After we left the night after the surgery, someone must've drugged her of some kind. Which is why she's been sent here. We need to know who else entered her room."
Kagome pulls out her tablet and types down a few seconds. "Ok, so far there were records of Moroha's data, as well as the room she was in after the surgery." She said first. "We need to ask the security about their cameras. Maybe one of them might've been close to the room. As far as I know that each room has one so they can keep an eye on their parents." Inuyasha heads. "I'll get to that." He quickly leaves the room and goes to the closest desk on the floor.
