Chapter 11
When Inuyasha left to do his investigation in the hospital, Kagome goes back to her tablet to get some data on her end. She finds her recently sent file emailed to her when she had her blood drawn. But then something caught her eye. "Blood type A-." She said it out loud. That's not right. She just got a call from her mom telling her that she's B-. She calls her mom.
"Hey, mom. I need you to send me a picture of my birth certificate and my bracelet." Kagome said to her mother as calmly as she could. "Sure." Her mom said back. It took about a minute for Kagome's phone to receive the two items. The birth certificate and bracelet prove that her blood type is B- instead of A-. "Is something wrong on your end?" Her mother asks her daughter in concern. "I had to get my blood drawn for Moroha. I was told that my blood type was A-. I think someone tried to alter my information." Kagome explains to her mother about the issue at hand.
"Ok. I'm heading over." She hangs up on Kagome. Kagome makes a weird face. "I don't get a say in this." She complains before resuming her investigating.
Inuyasha opens his phone to see that he knows for sure he needs to get into the system. He sees a security room where he can do in private. He sits down into a chair and goes into the reels to look through the security camera in Moroha's old room and then to the ones on the floor she was moved to. He rewinds the footage to the point when he and Kagome leave for the evening. Throughout the night, nothing out of the ordinary happened. Until an hour before Moroha wakes up, a nurse comes in and checks on the IV. She smiles sweetly to the child before putting a new IV in. Inuyasha snapshots the nurse to add her to a potential suspect.
He then goes to the time when Kagome got her blood drawn. Like before, the nurse that was in Moroha's room was the same one who did the task. His phone vibrates to alert him of something.
Someone misinformed my blood type. My mom is coming.
It was from Kagome. Inuyasha knows for sure that Kagome's mother would do anything to set things straight. He sees that the nurse did something that was illegal after receiving the text from Kagome. At least the time he got his blood drawn, a different nurse did it.
"Ok. I need to ask the staff to see if they know who this person is." He said to himself. He leaves the room and head to the front desk to ask the workers. "Excuse me." He gets one of the workers' attentions. "Yes sir." She asks him politely. Inuyasha pulls out his phone with the snapshot of the nurse. "Do you know who this nurse?" He hands it over to her. The worker looks carefully at the picture.
Like any nurse, they have scrubs on with a name tag and the RN above the name tag. "I'm afraid I don't know her sir. Hey, have you seen this nurse?" The worker turns her head to another one at the desk. "No idea. I'm sorry. We'll be on the lookout for you. Sorry we weren't much help." The worker returns Inuyasha's phone to him. He just nods and walks away.
Kagome is busy until Moroha moans from her sleep. She walks up to the child, taking her tiny hand. "Baby…" She whispers to Moroha. Moroha instinctively grabs her mother's finger. "Mama…" She murmurs silently. "Shh. I'm right here, Moroha." Kagome coos her child. Moroha opens her eyes a little to find herself in a different room with her mother by her side.
"Don't try to speak, sweetie. Me and daddy are going to help you get better." Kagome tries her best to remain calm for Moroha's sake. Moroha nods for her acknowledgement. The door opens and Kagome's mother enters the room with Inuyasha behind her.
"Mom?" Kagome is surprised to see her mother come at a short amount of time. "I came in as soon as I could." Her mother hugs her and smiles at Moroha. "How are you feeling, sweetheart?" She asks the kid. Moroha just smiles weakly.
"Anyway, we need to find this person who was in Moroha's room before she was transferred here." Inuyasha clears his throat to get their attention. "I have the certificate and the bracelet with me." Kagome's mother brings out the little bracelet from her purse. Kagome happily takes it and can see that her blood type is B-. Inuyasha couldn't help but smile to see the little item in Kagome's hand. He opens his smartphone and shows the picture to Kagome and her mother.
They look at the snapshot of the nurse. "She was the one who drew my blood." Kagome said to him. Moroha slowly raises her hand. "What is it, honey?" Kagome turns her sight to the kid. Moroha points her finger to Inuyasha's phone. Inuyasha hands it to her without a second thought. "She's mean." Moroha said to them.
That claim made the adults look at each other before returning their attention. "Can you tell us anything else about her, baby?" Kagome encourages her gently. Moroha sniffs for a few seconds. "She smells like death." She tells her family.
"Like how?" Inuyasha speaks softly to her. "Something rotting away." Moroha gives her answer. Kagome smiles down to her. "How can you tell the difference, sweetie?"
"She smelled bad and she had a bad aura. Like she's dead." Moroha describes it to her parents. Inuyasha had to think when he was at the front desk. He was able to tell a living being with their own scent. So far, the two workers were alive, so they're not the ones. "I need to go through the footage again to locate the nurse so that she doesn't come here." Inuyasha said to them before leaving the room.
Inuyasha returns to the security room he got in and looked through the feed. He went through footage where it caught the nurse. From being in Moroha's room and drawing Kagome's blood. He then sees her go into a room and out comes a completely different person. A woman with long black hair with white snow skin in a business outfit. He takes a snapshot of the new person.
He goes to the front desk from before. "Hello." He greets them casually. "Oh, hi there, we haven't seen the nurse you showed us earlier." The worker said to him. "Maybe not the nurse, but this woman instead. She look familiar?" Inuyasha hands over the smartphone to her.
"That's Ms. Mikoho." The other worker said to him. "And what is her field of work?" Inuyasha asks her. "She's a professor at the Medical Center at Tokyo University." The worker said to him. "Does she attend for some of the patients here?" Inuyasha asks her. "She sometimes comes here to observe the patients' results of their health. She used to be a teacher at that school that was targeted for a terrorist attack." Inuyasha nods. "Ok thanks for the information."
Inuyasha returns to Moroha's room. "Any luck?" Kagome quickly asks him after he closes the door. "From what I might come up with theory is that the nurse who drew your blood has an alter ego." Inuyasha answers as he shows Kagome and her mother about the new suspect to be. "And she used to be a teacher at the school we're stationed in." Inuyasha adds in.
That creates an intense atmosphere in the room. "Do you think that she might've been…" Kagome tries to speak first. Inuyasha stops her. "It's just a theory, Kagome. We both know that we're being subs for the two teachers who were killed in the terrorist attack." He reminds her seriously.
Kagome has to agree on his terms for now. Seeing that her position is in the science room, so it could be a possibility that the woman was her. But the other teacher that Inuyasha is taking over is a complete mystery to them. From what Kagome found out so far from Saki the first time she started her day. 'She seemed frightened about something. And there's the other teacher, Misako. So far, she didn't say much about the teachers that got killed. 'I think she was threatened to remain silent. She might have witnessed the scene unfold.' Kagome thinks in her head, trying to find a plausible solution.
The door opens to alert the group. "I'm sorry to disturb you." It was Dr. Jurino. Her presence made the adults stand up. "But visiting hours are almost over. I'm going to ask you to make your departure." She said to them seriously.
"Before we leave, there's something you need to know." Kagome speaks as she shows the doctor about the lab results. "When I had to get my blood drawn, they say that my blood type is A-." She shows the email on her smartphone.
"Yes. What seems to be the problem about it?" The doctor asks her. Ai comes up to her. "The results were false. I happen to have my daughter's blood type on this bracelet when she was born." She shows the bracelet as proof.
The doctor didn't see that coming. "Oh, I'm terribly sorry about that. Do you know who it was that drew your blood to come up with false results?" She apologizes to them. "I assure that we have everyone's medical are absolutely true. Even proof from baby bracelets is a good example." She smiles sadly.
"Do you have any way to know who it was that drew my blood?" Kagome asks her this time. Dr. Jurino holds her chin for second. "I believe that there was a camera in that room. We could go through the feed to see who it was." She suggests to them wisely. She pulls out her own tablet and gain access to the security system. "Which room were you in when you had your blood drawn?" She asks Kagome.
"Its was in room 305." Kagome gives her answer fast. Dr. Jurino goes through the room's camera to see who the nurse was. "Wait a minute." Inuyasha said to make her stop at a point at a familiar person. "Moroha, kiddo. Was this the nurse that did this to you?" Inuyasha asks Moroha as the doctor shows her the picture. Moroha nods in fright.
"Yes, that's the one who did it." She said as bravely as she could. Inuyasha turns to the pediatrician. "Dr. Jurino. I'm afraid your nurse has drugged our daughter and messed up with Kagome's blood type." Dr. Jurino looks baffled. "What are you talking about?" Inuyasha pulls out his smartphone to show her about his assumptions. "According to the staff, there was another person who came here and then somehow disguised herself to be someone so that no one would think twice. Have you heard of Ms. Mikoho? You see, me and Kagome are agents, and this is confidential.
Inuyasha and Kagome show their badges to her. The doctor nods. "Of course. Mikoho was a regular here because she wanted to be a pediatrician like me. But then her son was diagnosed with leukemia when he was 6 years and sadly he passed away a month ago." The doctor tells them so far while Inuyasha had a recorder active to remember what the doctor said to her.
"Ok so then Ms. Mikoho turns into a nurse and then drugged your daughter and falsely claimed Kagome's blood. Why would she do that?" Dr. Jurino said to them.
"From what happened so far is that Mikoho was familiar with blood because leukemia is blood cancer. She drugged our daughter to cough blood and drew my blood." Kagome gathers the details so far. "Does Mikoho have a job in particular?" Ai asks her daughter.
"We might think that she was a science teacher at the school that was attacked by a terrorist attack." Inuyasha said to her. "But that's all we know for now. We might as well leave. Keep Moroha safe." Kagome, Inuyasha and Ai all gave Moroha and hug and a kiss because they had to go home for the night.
