Chapter 13

Kagome is in the hospital keeping Moroha company as usual. She's in a grey hoodie with a jeans and sneakers on. "Mommy?" Moroha spoke to her as she was busy with what Rin sent over throughout her time as being her replacement. "What is it, sweetie?" Kagome is sitting next to the bed. "Will daddy come today?" Moroha asks nervously. Kagome can tell that she's scared of something.

"Of course, he will. He would never forget about stopping by after work." Kagome assures as she hugs her daughter.

"Can I ask you something else?" Moroha asks as soon as Kagome lets go of her hug. "Sure." Kagome nods to encourage her to ask away.

"Will daddy be able to save me?" Moroha asks her in worry.

Ever since the doctor told them that only Inuyasha is the one who can donate his blood to her, Moroha begins to worry that it might not work.

Kagome can tell for sure that this is a serious one. "Moroha, I'm going to be honest with you about this. When you were born, your father is a half dog demon, because his mother, Izayoi was a human like me. And his father Toga was a full dog demon like uncle Sesshy Fluffy." Moroha tilts her head. "But what does that make me?" she asks innocently.

Kagome chuckles as she brings out her tablet to draw the family tree started with Moroha at the bottom. "This is you down here. And we draw a line to put me and daddy here." Kagome then draws a line about Inuyasha. "And these are your daddy's parents, your grandparents." She draws Izayoi and Toga's names on the line. Moroha nods. "What about you, Mommy?"

Kagome smiles as she draws a line about her name. "This is my mommy, Ai Higurashi. Your grammy. Here's Uncle Sota, my little brother. And there's Great Grandpa Higurashi." Kagome explains the picture to her. "But what about your daddy? Where is he?" Moroha asks her curiously.

The smile almost dropped. "Sweetie, I don't know much about him. He died after Sota was born. We're here to focus on you." Moroha can sense how uncomfortable Kagome is getting. "I'm sorry, mommy. I didn't know." She takes a hold of Kagome's hand. "It's ok, baby. Anyway, for your heritage. You are known a quarter demon." Moroha looks up to her. "A quarter? As in a coin?" She said cutely.

Kagome nods. "Yes. Here let me show you what a quarter looks like. (I'm doing U.S. Currency in this story.) Kagome goes into her purse to pull out a wallet with coins inside. "Now, Moroha, there are different coins. The first one here is a penny." Kagome shows a copper one. Moroha smiles to see it. "This here is a nickel." Moroha keeps her eyes beams with wonder. "This little one is a dime." Moroha nods. "And this here a quarter." Kagome shows the coin to Moroha.

"What are coins?" Moroha asks her mother. "Coins are part of a thing called money." Kagome answers as she places the coins on the tray in front of her. "Now, the quarter is like you." She picks it up and holds it in her fingers. "How?" Moroha tilts her head. "You and this quarter are part of a group. But the thing is that you're the only one different from the rest of the group…"

Kagome keeps teaching Moroha about the similarities between her and the quarter. The door is knocked. "What is it?" Kagome asks the unknown visitor. The door opens to reveal the person Moroha whimpers. "Moroha, what's the matter?" Kagome asks Moroha as the child clings onto Kagome's hoodie. "That's her. She's the one who did that me." Moroha cries as she is scared to say anything else.

Kagome looks up to see that visitor was the person named Mikoho that Inuyasha and the doctor mentioned the day before. "I'm sorry to come in such short notice, but I need to check on Moroha." Mikoho said to her. Being a mother has really turned Kagome into the protective parent that she has become.

"I'm afraid I'm going have to decline, Mikoho." She stood up with a serious look. Mikoho looks confused. "I'm sorry, but I didn't tell you who I am." Kagome keeps her look still. "There's no need for that. Because Dr. Jurino told me about you yesterday and how my husband found out how you disguised yourself as a nurse to drug my daughter as well as drawing my blood."

Mikoho is still baffled. "I'm sorry, but I have a job to do here." She tries her best to approach the child but Kagome gets in her way. "I'm not letting you get a hold of my daughter as long as I'm here." She warns the person.

At this point Mikoho steps back after Kagome's threat. "Look, I know how a mother is when their child is in this. They're scared. And that's ok. There's no need to be afraid of me." She tries to get her point across.

Kagome remembers what Moroha said to her about the person. "You're actually dead." She said to Mikoho.

"How can you tell that I'm dead? I'd be rotting away." Mikoho said to her.

"That's because your scent tells me that. You are alive, but there's another scent on you that you killed someone" Moroha said this time, shocking the woman. Kagome is confident that Moroha was certain about her scent of smell.

"Look, from now on, you are to tell me who you really are or I'll have you arrested for murder." Kagome shows her badge to the woman. "Now spill." Kagome demands the woman. "Moroha, have your father here now." Kagome turns to her daughter. Moroha knows how to use the tablet to contact either Kagome or her father.

Inuyasha dismissed his last class of the day until his cell phone is going off. He sees it's a video from Kagome's cell phone number. He presses the answer button, and the video screen shows Moroha instead. "Moroha, what's going on?" Inuyasha asks her. "The mean lady who drugged me is here. Please come." Moroha begs him. "Don't worry. I'm on my way." Inuyasha hangs up on the call, collects his stuff.

Rin spots Inuyasha getting into his car. "What's happening?" She asks him. "That nurse who drugged Moroha is in the room. Kagome is stalling her until I arrive. You get Sesshomaru and let him know. I don't think that Kagome and I can handle this alone." Inuyasha drives off to the hospital as fast as he can under the traffic law. He knows for sure that this is something he's so eager to do. And that's to protect his wife and daughter from the person that inflicted harm on Moroha.

Kagome used some of her hand-on-hand combat skills and locked the door to prevent Mikoho from entering the room. From the way she used her arms and pinned Mikoho down. Moroha is amazed by the way her mother can fight. "Mommy. That was so cool. Can you teach me to do that?" She smiles happily as she looks up to her mother proudly.

"When you're a little older Moroha. For now, we must stay in here until daddy get here. He's a way better fighter than me. He's the one who taught me those moves." Moroha pouts with arms crossed. "But I'm a big girl, mommy. Why can't I learn them now?" She murmurs. Kagome chuckles at her daughter's behavior. "Well for starters you need to know your own abilities and use them to you advantage."

"But haven't I learned enough already about my abilities and surroundings?" Moroha presses on.

Kagome smiles down to her. "So far, you were to tell that there was a different scent on the Mikoho person. That's a good thing. You were able to tell that she killed someone due to the other scent on her instead of her own."

That made Moroha smile proudly. "So then I was able to help after all."

Kagome embraces her. "Indeed you have, baby. I'm proud of you. As such you should never be ashamed of your abilities. You owe it to your father. If it weren't for him, you wouldn't be able to notice it." Kagome kisses her daughter's forehead.

"Can we do your hair?" Kagome changes the topic to make Moroha feel safe. Moroha nods her. "Alright, what hairdo shall we try today?" Kagome brings her daughter's brush and comb. "I want it in a braid." Moroha requests adorably. "Coming up." Moroha sits in front of Kagome the bed while Kagome begins her creation.

Inuyasha parks into the parking garage of the hospital and makes his way to the desk. "Excuse me." He said to a worker. "What can I help you with sir?" One worker asks him politely. "I need to know if Mikoho is here?" Inuyasha said as he pulls out his phone and shows the picture of the woman. "I think she's somewhere in the west wing. Let me take a look." The worker looks through the computer to see where Mikoho is in the hospital.

According to the hospital's protocols, each worker's tag has a tracker so that the front desk and the security will pin point the worker. "She's on the I.C.U floor. Do you know where that is?" The worker asks Inuyasha. "I know my way." Inuyasha said before heading off to the stairs. He knows for sure when it comes to a chase, the elevator is never a good idea because it takes forever. He enters the staircase and simply leaps up the assigned floor and gets into the hallway.

He sees Mikoho really angry. "You!" She points at him. Inuyasha remains calm. "I'm sorry?" He said back to her. Inuyasha can clearly see that she's at the door of Moroha's room. "The child's mother is preventing from doing my job." Mikoho said to him.

Inuyasha spots the equipment she is required to use. "I'm her father as well. So, if I were you, I'd leave." He said to her. Mikoho narrows her grey eyes. "I have no choice but to call in backup." She is about to make a move until Inuyasha grips her arms behind her back. "Little do you know, I've been told that you killed someone recently." He whispers into her ear.

That made Mikoho widen her eyes from hearing that. "But-but how?" She was able to ask until Inuyasha places handcuffs onto her wrists. "I'm an agent of the FBI." Soon enough two more police officers arrive and take the arrestee. "We'll take it from here, agent Takahashi." The one office said to him. Inuyasha just nods and turns to knock on the locked door. "Kagome. I'm here now."

Kagome finishes the last touch on Moroha's braid. "You look so cute with you hair like this sweetie." The door is knocked. "Kagome. I'm here now." It was Inuyasha's voice that spoke. Kagome sighs in relief and unlocks the door and lets him in. "Oh Inuyasha." She embraces him. Inuyasha returns the hug.

"Daddy! Daddy! Look what Mommy did to my hair." Moroha shouts to show the new hair style. Inuyasha smiles at it. "My you look so beautiful. Do you think you could my hair as well?" He sits next to her on the bed. "Nah. Having your hair in a braid is too girly." Moroha disagrees with his idea.

Inuyasha laughs at that. "I never had my hair braided before. As a matter of fact, I never had my hair down in any particular creation. I believe your mommy can look up a few ideas to try." He winks as his wife. Kagome just shakes her head. "Ha. Remember the one time I tried to cut your hair?" She reminded him of her little stunt.

Inuyasha smirks. "Oh yeah, and little did you know that my demon powers will simply grow back in an hour. So, no matter how hard you try, you can never shave my head."

Dr. Jurino enters the room. "Hello, Moroha. Sweetie, are you feeling better?" She asks as she comes to the other side of the bed. Moroha nods. "That's good to hear. So far you don't need to have any blood transfers since your own was able to heal you. Other than that, you can go home."
