Chapter 14
Inuyasha and Kagome are both surprised to hear what the doctor said to them, "Are you sure about this?" Kagome asks first.
Dr. Jurino nods. "Absolutely. I had to keep a close eye on Moroha after what happened. I wanted to make sure she got better properly. I should've been more attentive."
"But you have other patients who need you as much as Moroha does." Inuyasha points out to her. Dr Jurino nods at that. "That's true. But there are times that a patient's attention is more important than another's." She explains. "Anyway, we need to keep an eye on her for awhile. Here's this." She hands over a piece of paper.
"What's this?" Kagome asks as she and Inuyasha look at the paper. "That's Moroha's prescription for her vitamins. For what I was able to gather is that even though she's back to full health, she needs her energy to keep it that way. That's why the prescription is for extra help."
Inuyasha walks over to Moroha. "Are you ready to go home?" He asks the child. Moroha smiles with a nod. "Yes. I really want to be home with you and mommy this time." She hugs him. Inuyasha rubs his daughter's hair.
Dr Jurino smiles at the scene. "We were able to remove the I.V. from her so she's good to go. Besides does any of you have health insurance?" She asks the parents. Inuyasha picks the girl into his arms. "I'm under my brother's plan as well as Moroha. He made sure that anyone in the dog family is to be covered no matter what." Inuyasha answers her.
"Very well. We'll have you discharged." The doctor said as she types down the final details of Moroha's recovery. "Remember to go the pharmacy and pick up her pills." She reminds them.
"We will on our way home." Kagome promises as she gathers her belongings. "Moroha, do you have something to say to the doctor?" She asks her daughter. Moroha looks at the doctor. "Thank you for taking care of me." She bows as she spoke.
"It was my pleasure, Moroha. Remember if you're ever sick…" Dr. Jurino smiles.
"…I call you." Moroha finished proudly. Kagome and Inuyasha chuckle at her. "Ok baby, let's go home." Inuyasha said as they leave the hospital. "I was told that Rin has your car." Inuyasha begins a new conversation. Kagome nods. "Yes. The moment I woke up this morning, she called me and told me that I owe her a favor. So she has my car. And I have my mom's." Kagome points to a white van for the family.
Inuyasha doesn't mind it at all since he's seen it countless times. "So which house are we going this time?" Moroha asks curiously. "We're going to my house for tonight." Inuyasha said to her. He takes her to his own nice car that he drove to the hospital today.
Inuyasha sees Moroha so fascinated with the car. "Pretty." She only said about it.
"Yeah, she's a beauty. And you are going for a ride." Inuyasha puts her door as Kagome brings over the spare child seat for the back seat. Inuyasha puts the spare in and places Moroha in it. "I'll see you tomorrow." Kagome kisses her on the forehead.
"No way. You're coming too." Inuyasha dejects.
"But I have to return my mom's van back home." Besides…"
"Besides nothing. We are going to your mom's to drop off her van. That part is true. However, you're riding with us to my house." Inuyasha explains to her adamantly.
Kagome knows for a fact that whenever Inuyasha speaks like that, she has no other way to change his mind. Especially when it involves their daughter.
"OK." She admits defeat and gets into the van.
"Ok Moroha. You ready to hear this car go?" Inuyasha asks as he gets into the driver's side of the car. "Oh yeah." Moroha grins. Inuyasha chuckles as he cracks his knuckles and puts the key into the ignition. Hearing how the car works made Moroha so mesmerized. "Do it again." She beams. Inuyasha pressed the ignition again. It made Moroha laugh with glee.
It doesn't take them that long for them family of three to be home at Inuyasha's house. Other then picking up Moroha's pills. It's around bedtime and Inuyasha tucked in Moroha into her little in the guess bedroom. "Night, my little puppy." He kissed her on the head. "Night daddy." Moroha said in her sleep. He turns on the pink nightlight by the bed and turns off the light and closes the door behind him quietly.
Inuyasha walks to the kitchen to see that the patio door was opened a little bit. He grabs a blanket to give it to whoever it was that left the door open. He turns to see Kagome sitting on the couch with a mug of tea in her hands with a downcast look.
"Here." Inuyasha wraps the blanket on Kagome's shoulders. Kagome doesn't say anything for the next few minutes. Inuyasha sits next to her. "I'm done." Kagome finally said to him.
"With your drink?" Inuyasha asks before realizing that the mug is still full with a faint of steam soothing out of the liquid.
"No. I'm done with this whole shit." Kagome spoke in an aggressive manner this time. Inuyasha can immediately tell whenever Kagome swears, it's not pretty at all.
"This whole thing has put our daughter in danger. We almost lost her. We couldn't save her from being diagnosed with appendicitis. She coughed blood and then somehow, she needed blood." Kagome is shaking throughout the confession.
This is not good at all for the parents. What could Inuyasha really do? What could he say to her. Any of the two wouldn't matter to her. "What happened, happened." He murmurs to himself, rather to her.
Kagome glares her sight at him. Inuyasha gulps after realized what he just say. "Are you not listening to me, Inuyasha."
Inuyasha knows whenever Kagome is at a breaking point, he had to remain silent and listen to her no matter what.
"We almost lost our daughter, Inuyasha. Do you have any idea how much pressure this has affected the both of us. We've been doing this god dam three years. Her birthdays, family gatherings, the holidays. All Moroha ever wanted was for us to be an actual family. Not this."
Kagome is doing her best to prevent herself from crying.
"Believe me, Kagome. I'm pissed off as it is. But we have to be brave for her. We don't want to disappoint her."
"Disappoint her? From the looks of it, Inuyasha. She's been disappointed ever since we did this. We cannot simply just tell her to deal with it. It's not right." Kagome shouts quietly to him not wake up Moroha.
"I'm not proud of this either, Kagome. But what choice do we have here? As long as this fucking case is going we have to do what we are told."
"Why can't we just forget about it and be an average family?" Kagome complains to him.
"The fact is that we don't always get what we want. Despite everything we've done throughout our lives, there are times that things don't go our way. Stubbornness is a negative thing to have. Your pride can be your downfall. And we cannot let anyone know that at all." Inuyasha reasons to his wife.
"Inuyasha, I just don't know what to do at this point. It's true I had to be brave and fearless for our daughter when I had to protect her from Mikoho. We don't want her to think we fail as parents." Kagome said as her bangs cover her chocolate brown eyes.
Inuyasha can sense her tears about to fall down her cheeks. He picks her up in his arms places her on his lap. "I've listened to you for a reason. And now you have to listen to me. From now on, you're staying here with Moroha. I'm not going to left this damn mission mess with this family anymore. I'm going to gather your belongings and you're going to move in with me. If my brother or anyone else stops me. Then fuck them to hell. I will not stand by and let you two suffer." He tightens his hold around her as well placing his chin onto her head.
Kagome just snuggles in his embrace. "I just want to solve this case as soon as possible. For what happened at the hospital was not expected."
Inuyasha does his massaging technique on Kagome to calm her down. "Rin told me about what Saki said to her. As well as the two victims that were killed. We need to know who killed and what their motive was." Kagome said to him.
Inuyasha hmms to her. "I had to go through their information. Luckily their files were still in the school database. "Can we just go to bed? I'm tired." Kagome inquires sleepily. Inuyasha picks her up, blanket as well as the mug of tea that was left on the table outside, completely forgotten.
Inuyasha places Kagome onto his bed. It's a good thing that Kagome was in her purple flannel pj pants and a white t-shirt. He turns towards his closet to change into his own red flannel pj pants as a black muscle shirt. He places his cell phone onto the charger pad. He covers Kagome in the comforter as well as the blanket he brought for her. He sees that her phone is almost dead as well so he grabs his spare cord and plugs it in to charge the phone.
He turns off the light and is able to go to sleep, until his phone starts to chime. Just hearing that made him groan. He opens the screen to see it's a text from his brother.
We need to talk.
Inuyasha groans again and goes outside to have a conversation with his brother.
