Chapter 20
Setsuna turns around to see the door open up with Rin and Sesshomaru look at the scene. "What happened?" Rin asks Setsuna as she runs to her mother's open arms. "I don't know, mommy. We were just learning some new moves until Moroha started to scream in pain." Setsuna explains to her as Towa keeps her distance from the child in agony.
"Somehow her blood has changed." Sesshomaru states to them. "How, father?" Towa asks him as he casually walks up to them. "Somehow something is effecting her from inside." He said to them.
"Any idea what's doing the work?" Rin asks him in concern. "Jaken." Sesshomaru simply said the new name.
A little green imp demon with a top hat and webbed feet, with elf like ears, and big eyes. "Yes, my lord?" He bows to him. "Use the staff of two heads to put up a barrier to prevent Moroha from doing any harm to any of us." Sesshomaru gives the instructions.
"Right." Jaken responds has he stabs the staff in his hand onto the ground to put the barrier up only with Moroha in it.
"Will she be able to get out?" Towa asks her father in worry. Sesshomaru remains silent. Even if he gave the answer, it wouldn't do much.
Inuyasha and Kagome enter the mansion. "Moroha!" Kagome runs to the open door to the basement. Rin turns around to see the parents return. "What's going on with Moroha?" She asks them.
"It's her medicine that Dr. Jurino prescribed to her when we left the hospital." Kagome hands over the bottle. Rin looks at the fine print. "It has a side effect on demons." She reads it out loud.
Kagome nods. "And since Moroha is a quarter demon the medicine is behind it. We just don't know how long this is going to last though." She said sadly as she can only watch her daughter suffer from the medicine inside of the barrier.
Inuyasha can feel that his own blood is beginning to react to Moroha's suffer "Save pup." The demon from within his spat out.
'Like fuck I'm letting you taking over my body.' Inuyasha's own mind spat back.
"Just look at her. We don't want our own flesh and blood to be going through this." The demon points out to him.
'Look, I know you mean well, but I'm not going to do it. We wait.' Inuyasha shouts back at his demon consciousness.
"Fine. But if she doesn't turn back, I'll be the one to finish the task." The demon taunts Inuyasha confidently before fading away.
"Has this happened before?" Setsuna tucks at Inuyasha's pants leg to get his attention. Inuyasha kneels down beside her. "No. Even though Moroha is a quarter demon, she's not like you and Towa who are able to suppress the demon blood with your own free will. What she needs is something to suppress the demon within her. Kagome is a priestess, and she has the capabilities to purify the demon. As such Moroha should use something from her mother's side of the family to contain it."
Kagome blinks a few times to realize she has something on her. She opens Moroha's little duffle bag. "What about this?" She pulls out a charm bracelet. The rest of the group can see that she's holding red prayer beads. "Please try, Auntie Kagome." Towa begs her with pleading eyes.
Kagome nods and focuses her spiritual powers to cover the beads with it. "Inuyasha. Can you do that move you did on me earlier. You know the knockout one?" She asks him as she give him the bracelet. Inuyasha knows what he has to do.
"Jaken am I able to go through the barrier?" He asks the imp. Jaken nods. "You should be able to." He answers genuinely. Inuyasha nods and simply walks up to the barrier.
"Who are you!?" Moroha's cute voice was very raspy as if it's a monster from within her that speaking through her. Inuyasha remains calm. And simply gets through the barrier. Just him and his daughter.
"Don't come near me!" Moroha threatens the intruder. Inuyasha does do much. "You need to calm down, Moroha." He said to her stoically. Even though he's nothing like his brother who can take care of any demon base problem with little effort. Inuyasha on the other hand isn't like him.
"I said don't come near me, you bastard." Moroha swore violently. That made the room silent. 'How did Moroha learn how to swear like that?' Kagome asks herself. But then soon knew it must've been Inuyasha. "Oh Kami." She shakes her head in disbelief.
Inuyasha has to make sure that he's in the position to do the technique on her. But from her being outraged from her demon affecting her is proven to be difficult. "Moroha, you know you can do this." He tries to reason with her, even though it's not going to work.
Kagome just feels helpless at this point. She's supposed to be a mother. A strong-willed mother who would do anything for her daughter, even if it means that she gets hurt in the process. "Jaken, am I able to go…"
"Don't." Inuyasha immediately stops Kagome's request before Jaken could give his respond. "Kagome, let the father take care of this." Inuyasha adds in.
"But Inuyasha, Moroha needs this." Kagome tries her best to have him listen to her. "Not right now. First we have to figure out who is doing this. For what we know so far is that the medicine is from Dr. Jurino. She's a pediatrician. But there's someone other than her who is controlling Moroha."
"Mikoho. But she's in the interrogation with the police. But then who else could it be?" Kagome holds her chin trying to narrow down. "Saki?" She guessed.
"Moroha, please don't do this!" Towa cries as she loud as she could. Kagome turns to see Towa with brave face even though she's worried. Setsuna is clinging onto Rin's pants. "Moroha, this isn't you." Setsuna cries out to her cousin.
Moroha cries more as she tries to attack Inuyasha with her claws that somehow grew twice as long with her little fangs becoming fiercer. Even her own human ears were replaced with black akita dog ears like Inuyasha. The hair is silver as well. The hair bow that Kagome worked so hard was torn from Moroha's claws while she was trying to get the pain out of her mind.
Inuyasha couldn't believe that his own daughter was capable of becoming a demon. 'Somehow, whoever is behind must've tapped into her blood and gave it a power boost to make her like this.' He thinks to himself. He believes that the rest of the group are aware of the claim as well.
Moroha keeps charging at him while slashing him at any possible contact. Inuyasha, is able to read the moves and is able to dodge them too. "I only got one shot at this." He said as he does the technique on Moroha. Moroha gags from the impact of the pressure point. Inuyasha swiftly makes sure she's unconscious. "Kagome, now!" He shouts to his wife.
Kagome runs into the barrier and places the charms bracelet to Moroha's right wrist. Once on, the bracelet is able to reverse Moroha's transformation. "I just hope this is the last time." Kagome sighs after using her spiritual powers on Moroha. Inuyasha picks up the child into his arms while Jaken takes down the barrier.
"Uncle Inuyasha. Will she be ok?" Towa asks as she runs up to him. Inuyasha looks down to his daughter. "She's unconscious because of the move I did on her. It'll wear off in about an hour. I just want to know rather or not you still want her to spend the night with you?" He said looking at Towa before turning his gaze to Sesshomaru and Rin.
"I don't mind this. We just didn't expect this to happen." Rin said. "This was my idea in the first place. But after this, I think Sesshomaru should have the final say in this." The entire group turned to daiyoukai. "Do as you wish." All he said before leaving the basement.
"For now, girls. I think it's best that Moroha comes back home with me." Inuyasha said to them. Towa and Setsuna look down in disappointment. "I'm sorry that this happened. We didn't know." Towa weeps. Rin embraces her in her arms. "Towa, you and Setsuna didn't do a thing to cause this. Someone else was doing this to her." She calms her daughter's sobs. "Then we have to go after that bad person who did to her." Setsuna said to her in confidence.
"And that's why the big people do that, Setsuna. You, Towa and Moroha are just toddlers. It's way to dangerous to go after that bad guy." Kagome knees down to her level. "But why can't we help. You saw what happened." Setsuna counters back.
"Setsuna, you and Towa are just not ready to understand what we do. We know how much you really want to be part of this, but not right. For now, we need to keep a close watch on Moroha until Uncle Inu and I decide to have a makeup sleepover." Kagome explains to them.
Setsuna nods even though she's upset. "But you and Towa can come over tomorrow to visit Moroha." Kagome cheers her up. Setsuna just nods. "Ok."
"Again, Rin. We're so sorry that we had to cut this short. But we'll make sure that this doesn't happen again." Inuyasha said to her with Kagome behind them as they leave the manor.
