Punch-Out: Round 2
by Metal Harbinger
Prologue: From the Ashes
It wasn't all that long ago when a kid from the Bronx took the boxing world by storm.
Little Mac he was called, a young up-and-comer who rose from nothing to become champion of the World Video Boxing Association (or WVBA for short), taking down all challengers who stood before him, capping it off with the legendary bruiser, Mr. Sandman.
He further cemented his status when all challengers would come seeking revenge, only to fall yet again.
His time on the top would not last.
Wanting to go out in a blaze of glory, he embarked upon a final test of endurance the press dubbed "Mac's Last Stand," where after suffering three losses, he willingly retired from the WVBA, his final loss occurring at the hands of his old rival Mr. Sandman.
It had been bittersweet, yet Mac was confident he had still gone out on top, and ending with a mutual respect developing between both competitors.
That was 2 years ago and now the former champion had largely distanced himself from the spotlight, working at Doc Louis' gym.
He thought his fighting days were behind him, but a series of events will ensure that his time in the ring is not yet over...
Author's Note: For those of you who don't know me, I am Metal Harbinger and this is my first attempt into the world of Punch-Out fiction. It's been a while since I've played the most recent game on the Wii, but I wanted to try something different.
As always, feedback is greatly appreciated and I hope you enjoy until then!
