#19- Marinette and the Fangs of Heaven!
From a young age, Marinette was raised by her folks and firmly believed that hard work always paid off in the end!
Despite being born of a human father and a Beastman mother, Marinette grew up healthy and strong, having inherited the beastman's strengh and stamina, she was able to keep up with even the strongest of children.
She, Chloe, Nino, Alya, and Sabrina all grew up together, and trained to one day become adventurers, Marinette puting all of her time to being a fighter.
She also had help, the folks at the Drunken Phoenix, who respected and loved her mother Sabine, helped Marinette make good use of her 2 skills, EXP Giver and Weapon Master.
Despite being only Half Beastman at the time, the other Beastmen still treated her as one of her own, offering what wisdom they had, especially Rika and Renamon, Barron Agreste's bodyguards.
Then Adrien came around...
The only son of Barron Gabriel Agreste, who sought only the best to start his party, The Fangs of Heaven, When Chloe left to join the Hero's Party, the Four Flames, Adrien took Alya, Nino, Sabrina and Marinette into his party.
Adrien found use of Marinette's EXP Giver skill and abused the hell out of it, allowing her friends to benifit from it and move up the ranks, while Marinette was barely developing.
To make matters worse, Adrien dumped most of the grunt work on her, from getting their armor and weapons repaired, to scouting dungeons, to managing their money and cooking, and when she wanted to train and raise her level, Adrien was against it, saying she didn't need to, but when she said she wanted to be stronger, Adrien would guilt trip her into letting them keep the EXP for themselves.
To make matters worse, when dividing up the money, Marinette would only get pocket change, with Alya saying she didn't do much.
Marinette was worried, recently, her parents had come into some money issues, and were in massive debt to the city, they could lose the bakery if nothing was done.
Nino felt sorry for Marinette and split his money with her to send to her parents, but it was barely enough.
Alya, who only joked about her being half beastman, soon turned those jokes into insults, but Marinette was proud of beastman heritage.
She soo realised that Adrien wanted to keep her from getting stronger, because if she got stronger, she would leave the party.
And so for 4 years, Marinette was basicly a support character, and Adrien and Alya made sure she knew.
From insults from Alya, to Adrien barely paying her much, Nino and Sabrina's kind words and help was all that kept her going.
But, when Marinette was kicked out of the party and took back her EXP, things were never the same for the Party...
For starters, Sabrina had left with her, so they were short one healer, and it was difficult find another one because due to the Reaper Plauge, Healers were in high demand.
Plus, unknown to them, Marinette made good on her words, having taken her EXP back, their attacks weren't as strong as before, they had failed many quests, they tried getting other adventurers to help them, but the only one who would join them was Alix, one of Marinette's friends, Adrien lied to her saying that Marinette left of her own free will.
When Alix found out the truth, she left to join Marinette's party without question.
When Guildmaster Izzy put them on probation, Adrien tried to tell his father, but his father's hands were tied, despite being head of the Council of Nobles, Guildmaster Izzy had the respect of many of the noble houses in Hyguard, as well as the ear of the Royal family.
What Adrien didn't know was that Marinette did most of the hard work for them, all they had to do was fight, Without her, they soon realised that the work she did was hard as hell, because they had blown all of their money on fine food and wine, they barely had enough to buy potions and other items, and they didn't have the means to store them because Marinette stored items for them.
And they barely ate much because Marinette would do the cooking for them, and they had to fight with rusty armor and cracked weapons, since Marinette would get them repaired.
And since she scouted the dungeons, they were basicly going in blind when it came to the lower rank dungeons...the got their asses kicked.
Marinette was their golden goose, and they had taken her for granted...
