Chapter 24: A Mirage Encounter! Vs. The Legendary Eon Duo!
Once everything was settled at the Pokémon Center, Weiss quickly led her team into the Poké Mart to restock the party's supplies. After a good 15-20 minutes, they left the Pokémon Mart and met up with the rest of the party at Mauville City's eastern exit. Soon the party was finally able to begin exploring Hoenn's eastern half. While crossing the water section of Route 118, Michael caught and sent home a Carvanha. After reaching dry land, the party continued along the route until coming across a familiar face.
Michael - "Steven?! What are you doing here?"
Steven - "Why hello Michael, girls. If my memory's right, I haven't seen you all since Granite Cave. I take it your travels across Hoenn have been going well so far?"
Ruby - "Yes it has Steven. Thank you for asking."
Steven - "Tell me everyone. With the vast amount of Pokémon across the entire world, will you all just raise the Pokémon of a certain type you like, or will you all raise different types?"
Weiss - "The answer's an obvious one Steven."
Steven - "What is it then my dear Weiss?"
Weiss - "Times the type doesn't matter at all. As long as we raise our Pokémon with love and care, then that's all that matters."
Michael - "I second what Weiss said."
The rest of the girls agreed as well. Steven then smiled.
Steven - "Very well then. I suppose I should be going then. I hope to see you all again though."
Just as Steven was walking away, a female Pokémon's voice cried out.
? - "Help!"
Suddenly a red and white Pokémon appeared in the sky out of nowhere.
Pinkie - "Who's that Michael?"
Michael - "It's Lady Latias, the female half of Hoenn's Eon Duo alongside her older brother, Lord Latios."
Steven - "But normally the Eon Duo are rarely if ever apart from each other."
Michael - "You think something happened to Lord Latios then Steven?"
Steven - "Most likely."
Michael - "Then let's get ready to move out. Pinkie. You bring out all of your Water-Types. Rainbow and Mumei. You two do the same with all of your Flying-Types."
Pinkie/Rainbow/Mumei - "Right!"
Michael - "Weiss. Do you still have your Lapras on you?"
Weiss - "Yes."
Michael - "Bring her out. She can assist with sea travel. Steven. Any chance your Metagross can assist with air travel?"
Steven - "Sure thing."
Michael - "And I'll help as well with Charizard and my Water Starters."
Soon all the Pokémon that were used for the combined sea and air trek were assembled.
Michael - "Listen up! Something has happened to Lord Latios, and his sister, Lady Latias here, has asked for our help. Steven's Metagross will lead the air team. Charizard will be your second in command. That ok with you both?"
Metagross/Charizard - "Yes/Of Course."
Michael - "Ok then. Meanwhile, Swampert will lead the sea team with Empoleon being his second in command. That's ok with you two?"
Swampert/Empoleon - "Leave it to us Michael."
Michael - "Alright then. I'll be using my psychic powers to fly across the water. Everyone ready?"
Party - "Ready!"
Michael - "Then let's move! Lead the way, Lady Latias!"
Latias - "Yes sir!"
Latias quickly took off to the South-Southwest, Michael quickly right behind her. Meanwhile, the others followed as quickly as they could. After a few minutes, Latias and Michael landed safely on an unknown island.
Michael - "Ok. We arrived at wherever this is."
Latias - "Southern Island. A special island where me and my brother can easily hide from the world. Sadly though, some mean people have found the Island recently and are trying to steal a special item belonging to us."
Michael - "Well that's not good. Permission to use my aura powers to scan the area ahead of us?"
Latias - "Permission granted. And I'll go lead the others over here while you do that."
Michael - "Ok. Just be careful."
Latias - "Right."
Michael watched as Latias slowly flew off to lead the others to him. He then turned back around and got down on one knee, followed by placing the palm of his right hand on the ground and sending a pulse of his aura throughout the terrain. A good dozen pings answered back to him. He then groaned a bit as a pair of the pings were two familiar females.
Michael - "Oh great... They're here..."
As Michael stood up, he turned to see the others being led by Latias over to him. He waved back to signal where he was. Soon the entire party was back together.
Yang - "So who are we dealing with here Michael?"
Michael - "Team Aqua and Team Magma."
Kiara - "Haven't seen those guys since what happened back at Mt. Chimney."
Steven - "What happened?"
Michael and the girls quickly explained to Steven about stopping Team Aqua and Team Magma when they worked together at the peak of Mt. Chimney.
Steven - "I see. Thank goodness you were all there then. I'll be sure to inform you if I somehow come across either Team before we next meet after this."
Michael - "Thanks Steven. That means a lot."
Steven slowly stepped forward and looked at his surroundings.
Steven - "I don't know what it is... Not quite unease, not quite fear... But there is something...unsettling... It is an odd feeling, as though I'm walking in a dream-or even an illusion. There was an odd fable I once heard about/"
Michael - "You mean the one about this island having a pair of Pokémon guarding a secret concerning Mega Evolution, right?'
Steven - "That's correct Michael. But how did you know about it?"
Michael - "You remember back in Granite Cave, don't you? When I said that Lady Mewtwo and Lady Rayquaza were the ONLY Legendary Pokémon that could Mega Evolve."
Steven - "Yes I remember that."
Michael - "Well it turns out that I could be mistaken."
Roxanne - "You were?!"
Michael - "Yes, I was Roxanne. During our stops in each city, I borrowed a book on Mega Evolution from my family's personal library."
Clair - "So what did you find out?"
Michael - "Turns out it's not two Legendary Pokémon that can Mega Evolve, but actually five."
Bea - "You did already tell those of us that were around at the time about Lady Mewtwo and Lady Rayquaza. So who are the other three then?"
Michael - "That's just it. Two of the other three are the exact same two Pokémon talked about in Southern Island's fable. And those Pokémon are Lady Latias and her older brother, Lord Latios."
Weiss - "You said 'Two of the other three.' Who's the third one?"
Michael - "Lady Diancie."
Rarity - "So we won't being seeing her till we reach Kalos then."
Steven - "Anyways. Let's get going."
Michael led the party into the inner parts of Southern Island. Just as Michael was about to take another step, a distant voice suddenly stopped him. And the voice was weirdly garbled as well.
? - "Th- wh- mem- -de se- to carv- th- - - -rts..."
Michael slowly breathed in through his nose and out through his mouth. This in turn caused the voice's message to become clearer to him.
? - "Those whose memories fade seek to carve them in their hearts..."
Ruby - "You ok there Michael?"
Michael - "I'm fine Ruby. Just some kind of weird distant memory came to me."
Ruby - "Whatever you say then."
Michael then collected himself and continued leading the others deeper into Southern Island. Soon they finally arrived at Southern Island's center. They found an injured Latios lying on his side.
Latias - "Brother!"
Latios - "Sister..."
Michael quickly got to work and used his aura to heal Latios.
Michael - "Are you ok there Lord Latios?"
Latios - "Besides the injuries I suffered shielding my sister so she could find some help, I'm just fine."
Michael - "That's good to hear at least."
Soon Latios was fully healed.
Latios - "Thank you young Michael."
Michael - "I'm guessing Lady Arceus has told you both about me then?"
Latias - "She has. Now all that's left is to put an end to the threat on out home."
The party then turned to see Courtney and Shelly leading five each of their team's respective grunts into the Island's center.
Steven - "Team Aqua and Team Magma, is it. So the Eon Duo noticed they were coming, and that's why they called on us."
Courtney and Shelly eyed Steven.
Courtney - "Who's this guy?"
Shelly - "Does it matter who the tall guy is? We're here to not only take the Eon Duo's Mega Stones, but also get some payback on Michael for what happened at Mt. Chimney."
Courtney - "And as we agreed upon, I'll go first. Go Mightyena!"
Steven - "Michael. Allow me to-"
Michael - "No worries, Steven. I can take care of these two myself. Urshifu I choose you!"
Steven was a bit stunned Michael didn't need him. But he then decided to fully trust in Michael's skill. Michael then activated his Battle Disk, which also caused an aura to surround Courtney's Mightyena

Michael slowly walked over and stopped a good distance from Courtney and Shelly. He then transformed in front of them.
Michael - "I let you both, and your leaders, off easy at Mt. Chimney. But from this point forward, I won't be so merciful. Oh. And tell Archie and Maxie this. I already know what they're planning to do. And if any of you think for a sec that I'll just stand by and let it happen, then you've got another thing coming."
Shelly - "Retreat!"
Shelly then suddenly jumped to her feet and ran away from Michael, all the while grabbing Courtney by her collar and hightailing it off of Southern Island. Once they were out of sight, Michael quickly turned on his heels and walked back towards the others.
Michael - "Sorry about that everyone. Guess I was tired of holding back anymore."
Ruby - "So then you're not holding back against them anymore."
Michael - "Nope. So if Archie and Maxie are smart, they'll have EVERY member of both of their teams come at us at full strength. But that shouldn't be a problem for us anyway."
Weiss - "Let's just make sure to inform Twilight, Kronii, Sana, Sabrina, Ina, and Gura about this when we see them."
Yang - "Agreed. By the way Michael. Aren't you gonna transform back?"
Michael - "Well I was thinking of staying in this form from now on whenever I battle any of the Legendary Pokémon during our journey. Lord Latios, Lady Latias. I hope you both don't mind being the first two Legendary Pokémon I do this against."
The Eon siblings shared a quick glance with each other before smiling.
Latios - "Not at all Michael."
Latias - "Yeah. We'd be more than happy to assist you with trying this out."
Michael - "Alrighty then. Now let's get this double battle started!"
Michael took his place on one side of the clearing, while the Eon siblings did the same on the other side.
Latios/Latias - "Give us your best shot!"
Michael - "Right! Greninja, Tundra, I choose you!"
Michael then activated his Battle Disk, which caused an aura to surround the Eon siblings.

Michael - "Let's go Greninja! Stronger and stronger!"
Michael and Greninja then roared as Greninja entered his Battle Bond form.
Ruby - "Been a while since they've done that."
Weiss - "Against a Legendary Pokémon? Since the battle with Lady Moltres on Cinnabar Island. As for a battle overall? Since he used Battle Bond Greninja to sweep Calli at the Indigo Plateau."
Latias - "Mega Mist Ball!"
Latios - "Mega Luster Purge!"
Michael - "Dark Booster, Ice Booster, and Fairy Booster! Tundra! Hit both of them with Dark Ice Gleam! Greninja! Block both attacks then back Tundra up on Lord Latios with Dark Ice Pulse!"

Tundra jumped in front of Greninja, repaying him for defending her earlier. They both then fired back again, but the Eon siblings easily dodged again.

Tundra and Greninja rushed at the Eon siblings. Then just as the siblings fired their attacks, Tundra and Greninja switched places and fired off their own attacks, blasting right through the Eon duo's attacks and dealing the first damage of the battle.
Michael - "Nice job you two."

Latios then floated over and was ready to continue to fight.
Latios - "Give me your worst."
Michael - "With pleasure! Water Sword and Resist Reverse!"

Michael - "That's right. Normally whatever types you resist during battle, which means you take less damage from attacks of those types, are instead flipped during the entire time this card is active."
Latios - "Ah crap."
Michael - "And sorry to say. But this battle is now over. Greninja! Dark Ice Shuriken!"

Greninja grabbed the giant water shuriken on his back, then infused it with the powers of Dark Pulse and Ice Beam. He then threw it as Latios. Latios braced himself for the impact, ready to stop the attack in its tracks. He then blocked the attack.
Michael - "Apologies Lord Latios."
Latios - "Whatever for?!"
Michael - "Water Shuriken is a multi-hit move. And due to Battle Bond, it'll ALWAYS hit three times."
Latios' eyes went wide at hearing that, which also caused him to lose his hold on Greninja's attack. Then just as the attack looped back around to strike Latios again, Michael snapped his fingers, which then caused the lone Dark Ice Shuriken to split into three.
Dark Ice Shuriken's Current Power: 4,608 x 3 = 13,824
Everyone watched as Latios took all three Dark Ice Shuriken's. He was then knocked back and skidded across the ground, stopping next to his sister.
Tundra/Greninja - "Now Michael!"
Michael - "Go Ultra Balls!"
Michael threw both Ultra Balls at the Eon Siblings. Both Ultra Balls then hit them on the head and sucked them inside before falling to the ground.

Three shakes.

Michael smiled as he walked over and picked up both Ultra Balls.
Michael - "Alright! I just caught the Eon Duo!"
Ruby - "Congrats Michael. Another pair of successful catches."
Steven - "I must also congratulate you as well Michael. So which Legendary do you say is your next catch?"
Michael - "From the way our current path's going, it'll most likely be Lady Registeel, who's supposed to be somewhere on Route 120."
Steven - "I see. Perhaps I'll come across you all again before then. Anyway. Let's get out of here."
Michael and Steven then lead the girls off Southern Island and back to Route 118.
Steven - "Thank you for your help, everyone. In the end, Michael alone made things very easy for us."
Rainbow - "Then here's hoping Route 119 and Fortree City's Gym will give us a decent challenge."
Michael - "Careful Rainbow. Don't need to be biting off more than we can chew here."
Rainbow - "Oh right. Sorry..."
Steven - "Anyway. Until then, everyone."
With that farewell, Steven turned around and walked off into the distance.
