Chapter 27: A Sky High Gym Challenge Above The Trees! Vs. Flying-Type Leader Winona!
Soon Steven and the girls joined Michael and his Pokémon for breakfast.
Weiss - "Nice to see you finally caught Absol."
Michael - "Yes I have. And I've already talked to her about Fluttershy and Fauna tending to her while her leg injury heals."
Fluttershy - "Are you really ok with that Absol?"
Absol - "I don't mind. Besides, all that means is I'll have to put in more effort to catch up to everyone else once I CAN begin training."
Fauna - "I do love your positivity."
Absol - "Thank you."
Michael - "I do wanna try using Absol by the time we reach Mossdeep City."
Roxanne - "The Gym Battle's gonna be a double battle. So who are you gonna partner her with then?"
Michael - "Already planned on that. Greninja! You don't mind being Absol's tag partner during the Mossdeep Gym Battle?"
Greninja - "Not at all. I'd be more than happy to start training with her once her leg fully heals."
Absol - "And I look forward to that as well Greninja."
After breakfast was over, the party made their way over to the gym. While the others went into the stands, Michael took his place opposite Winona, who was already in her Trainer's box. Audrey was also in the Referee's box as well, ready to begin the gym challenge.
Winona - "I am Winona. I'm the leader of the Fortree Pokémon Gym. I have become one with bird Pokémon and have soared the skies... However grueling the battle, we have triumphed with grace... Witness the elegant choreography of bird Pokémon and I!"
Audrey - "This is the Fortree City Gym Battle between Gym Leader Winona and Challenger Michael Masi of Pokémon Island. The battle will be four vs. all. The battle will continue until all Pokémon on one side are unable to continue. Are both sides ready?"
Winona/Michael - "Ready!"
Both trainers activated their Battle Disks.

Michael crossed his arms, silently saying no.

Compared to Tropius, Swellow was much faster. And due to Aerial Ace NEVER missing, Delcatty was dealt a good amount of damage. But she also used that to her advantage and was able to knock out Swellow.

Much like with Swellow, Skarmory was also a speedy attacker. And Aerial Ace also made sure that Skarmory DIDN'T miss either. but again, the exact same scenario played out with Delcatty using Aerial Ace's perfect accuracy to her advantage and knocking out Skarmory in a single hit.

Michael noticed that Winona's Altaria had her Mega Stone on a necklace. He then looked at Delcatty.
Michael - "Altaria's got massively good Sp. Defense. Along with the fact that if she fires off one good hit, Delcatty's done for. Especially after the hard hits she took from Swellow AND Skarmory. Delcatty return! Empoleon I choose you! And I'll end my Ghost Booster too!"
Delcatty jumped back and landed next to Michael as Empoleon took her place.
Michael - "You okay there Delcatty?"
Delcatty - "Despite being very sore from the hard hits Winona's Swellow and Skarmory got on me, I'm just fine."
Michael - "Good to hear."

Audrey - "All five of Gym Leader Winona's Pokémon are knocked out. So the winner is the challenger, Michael Masi!"
The girls celebrated as Michael met with Winona and Audrey at midfield.
Winona - "It would seen that I tried to soar above you. But the real truth is that you were always above me the entire time."
Michael - "I am thankful for the fun challenge though Winona. Thank you."
Winona - "You are quite welcome Michael. And also, in accordance with the Pokémon League rules, I award you the Feather Badge."
Winona held out the badge, which Michael happily took.
Michael - "All right! Gym Badge Number 6! We just got the Feather Badge!"
Delcatty and Empoleon joined in the celebration as well, but then Delcatty cried out in pain.
Michael - "Adrenaline rush ended?"
Delcatty - "Yes..."
Michael - "Swampert, Lopunny. Can you both come out here please?"
Both Pokémon then appeared in front of Michael.
Michael - "Think the both of you can take Delcatty and Empoleon over to the Pokémon Center? The girls and I will meet you both over there."
Lopunny/Swampert - "Leave it to us."
Swampert laid on the ground as Lopunny and Empoleon helped Delcatty onto his back. Then the four of them slowly made their way over to the Pokémon Center.
Michael - "Apologies Winona."
Winona - "Not at all. By the way, may I join you and the others?"
Michael - "Sure. I'm guessing you'll be joining us for the rest of our journey across Hoenn then?"
Winona - "Of course."
Winona then leaned over and kissed Michael on the lips, which caused the rest of the girls to giggle at Michael's expense. Soon the party was back at the Pokémon Center as Michael quickly contacted the Professors.
Professor Oak - "Hello Michael. I'm guessing you've won the Feather Badge from Fortree's Gym then?"
Michael - "I have Professor Oak. And I'm guessing you all are ready to see the current progress on my PokéDex?"
Professor Birch - "Yes we are."
Michael - "Then here you go. Oh wait. Before I forget."
Twilight - "Oh right. You promised to do Absol's PokéDex entry for us this morning and never got around to it."
Michael - "Might as well do it now then. 'Absol, The Disaster Pokémon. Swift as the wind, Absol races through fields and mountains. Absol's curved, bow-like horn is acutely sensitive to the warning signs of natural disasters.'"
Professor Oak - "That's a pretty good PokéDex voice there Michael."
Michael - "Thank you for the praise, Professor Oak. Now then. On with my PokéDex's current progress."
