Ace was in the Fuchs, driving up to the resort with Sierra sitting next to him, holding two cyan puppacks with the logo of a snowflake on them.
"So, what's with the puppacks? I thought you weren't going to make the others new ones." Ace asked.
"I wasn't planning on it at the time, but shortly after I decided to make Everest an improved puppack." Sierra replied as she laid a paw on the improved puppack. "Then I made her a jetpack." She said as she moved her paw onto the other puppack.
"Oh alrigh- Wait, a jetpack!?" Ace said, shocked.
"Uhh... yes..." Sierra replied, not expecting his reaction. "Don't worry, it's safe to use. I've added multiple measures for the 'pilot' to save themselves incase something goes wrong during flight."
"Okay... I'll trust you on that, for now." Ace said before going silent and returning his focus to the road, or lack there of.
They eventually arrived at the Resort. Ace parked the Fuchs outside before both him and Sierra hopped out, leaving the puppacks behind, and trotted over to the entrance.
Upon entering, they saw Jake using a broom to sweep the floor of the lobby, while Everest was sitting down in a chair, reading a book.
"How's my favorite husky doing?" Sierra asked with a smile as she made her way to Everest. Jake glanced over to her and greeted her, before Everest looked up and gave a shocked expression upon seeing her.
"Sarah!!" Everest yelled as she leaped over to her, excited to see her. Sierra was quickly knocked to the ground, with an excited lavender husky on top of her.
"Woah Eve, relax!" Sierra said, trying to chill the husky down, Everest was having none of it though.
"You're back! You're actually back!" Everest said, attacking Sierra's face with licks.
"Yes, I know." Sierra replied while laughing, she lightly pushed Everest away and was finally able to stand up. "Also, name's Sierra, remember?" Sierra reminded her.
"I don't care! I've know you as Sarah for over a month now, your name is Sarah as far as I'm concerned, sis." Everest responded, being as stubborn about change as Chase was.
Of course, you never change sis. Sierra thought to herself while rolling her eyes. "I assume that by your reaction, It gets boring up here?" Sierra asked.
"Yeah... ever since you moved to the lookout, all of a sudden, there's just nothing to do up here." Everest replied, lowering her head. "I mean, there's the rescues, and the animals to hang out with, but when you've done something hundreds upon hundreds of times, it gets boring after awhile."
"Huh... I'm sorry for not visiting since... what happened..." Sierra apologized, feeling bad for the husky.
"Don't worry, you're here now!" Everest replied, excited that she returned again. "So, why did you return anyway?" Everest asked, a bit curious.
"Oh, right. I wanted to show you something, if you could please come with me." Sierra replied, heading toward the exit of the resort.
"Could Jake come with?" Everest asked her.
"Of course!" Sierra replied, smiling at the husky and her owner. Jake glanced at Everest before shrugging and following her outside to see what Sierra wanted to show them.
Upon getting outside, Ace opened the Fuchs and grabbed the two cyan puppacks. When Everest noticed the puppacks and recognized they were hers, she tilted her head and gave Sierra a confused look. "Aren't those mine?" Everest asked her.
"Yes, they are. I improved them." Sierra replied, she grabbed the two puppacks from Ace and laid them down on the pavement of the resort parking lot, which Jake had installed almost specifically for the pups. She then picked up the improved one and brought it over to Everest. "This is an improved version of your normal one, with more equipment for your specific specialization." Sierra explained as she opened up the puppack to show Everest.
Everest looked inside and examined the equipment, she noticed it had similar climbing picks that she normally held, but with a claw system attached to carry them for her. As well as a more complex zipline launcher, and an oxygen tank, for higher altitude rescues. "Woah, what's with the other puppack?" Everest asked while pointing at the other puppack with her paw.
"Oh, that's a jetpack... puppack..." Sierra replied, not exactly knowing how her and especially Jake would respond.
"A... what?" Everest asked, not sure if she heard her correctly.
"It's a jetpack... Like Skye's jetpack, just blue instead of pink." Sierra replied, getting a bit nervous. Everest slowly approached the puppack and picked it up off the pavement.
"You actually made me my own jetpack?" Everest asked, holding the puppack.
"Yeah... It uses the exact same technology that Skye's uses, being solar powered and having a built-in parachute, plus two emergency flares. Y'know, just in case." Sierra replied, explaining all the features it had.
Everest stared at the puppack for a moment before putting it on. "Woah, it fits perfectly!" Everest said, amazed.
"Well yeah, It may be a recoloured version of Skye's puppack, but I did still resize it according to your normal puppack." Sierra responded.
While Sierra was explaining it to her, Everest was messing with the puppack as she was wearing it, excited to be able to fly around with Skye when suddenly, she activated it, which caused it to start taking off. Sierra, Ace, and Jake all watched as she flew off, did a loop mid air, and slammed into a large pile of snow. The three of them all watched the pile of snow for a moment in silence before they all rushed over to it. Jake called out Everest's name as he approached, they all stopped as soon as Everest poked her head out.
"Don't worry! I'm okay!" Everest yelled out as she dug herself out of the snow.
"Okay, so Skye will still need to give you flight lessons before you begin joining her on missions." Sierra said, jokingly. Everest glared at her and stuck out her tongue, making Sierra giggle.
30 minutes later...
At the lookout
Ace and Sierra returned to the lookout and parked the Fuchs, before hopping out and entering the tower, immediately being greeted by AL.
"Hey AL." Ace replied to the robotic canine.
"Hello AL!" Sierra greeted him back.
"How did your trip go?" AL asked, curious as always.
"Went well, Everest took to the skys for a moment before quickly crashing back down to earth. She's alright though, don't worry." Ace replied.
While Ace was distracted, telling AL about their little visit to the resort, Sierra managed to sneak off to the elevator and descended down to the basement before heading for her room.
Ace soon finished his discussion with AL and turned back to where Sierra was, he then noticed that she had disappeared and tried to look around for her, but failed to locate her, he then received a call over his tag. He glanced down and checked the tag number calling him and saw it was 02, he gave a small sigh as he smiled and answered it.
"Hey Marshall, what is it that you need?" Ace asked the Dalmatian on the other end.
"I'm about to go visit the fire station, you want to come with?" Marshall asked him.
"Uhh, sure, I'll be outside in a moment." Ace replied before quickly running off to get his dress uniform on.
"Alright, I'll meet you there." Marshall said before ending the call and driving off.
Ace soon got on his dress uniform and rushed out of the lookout, hopping back into the Fuchs and driving off toward the fire station.
Meanwhile, with Chase and Skye
Chase and Skye were walking down a trail through a forest neighboring the lookout, admiring the nature around them and just relaxing for once. Skye would've tried to convince Chase to take a vacation of some sort but she knew even she couldn't convince Chase, the stubborn bastard he was, to take a vacation from his job, so a relaxing walk was probably the best she was going to get.
"Don't you just love the beautiful scenery here?" Skye asked the shepherd next to her as she admired the nature surrounding her.
"Yeah, it's definitely nice." Chase replied, not exactly focusing on the scenery, instead thinking about work, like he normally was.
"Chase..." Skye said his name sternly, not fooled by him.
"What?" Chase asked, still trying to fool her into thinking he wasn't thinking about work still.
"Don't you 'what' me." Skye replied, a bit playfully. "I know what you're thinking about."
"I-I don't know what you're talking about." Chase responded, staring away at the trees next to him.
"Sure you don't! You can't fool me, I know what you're thinking. You can take a break every once in a while to just relax, you don't need to work 24/7, waking up at six in the morning and getting straight to making sure all of Adventure Bay is perfectly fine, which it always is.-" Chase stopped while Skye continued walking, still speaking to the shepherd when she almost fell off a cliff into the bay. Luckily, Chase had fast reactions and managed to grab her collar and pull her back to him.
Skye froze for a moment while Chase looked down at her, staring into her pink eyes. "Skye, listen, I'm understand you're upset with me but please don't go walking off of cliffs." Chase told her.
Skye grumpily pulled away from him and pouted. "Aww, don't be like that Skye." Chase said to her. Skye stood still for a moment before leaning against the shepherd, who smiled and laid his paw across her shoulder in response.
In an advanced lab, in a unknown location
A shepherd entered a very advanced lab, holding a mask that used to belong to his former owner. He walked up to a group of two Golden Retrievers and gave the damaged mask over to them.
"Here you go, I better have it back by next week!" The shepherd warned the two as he stared into their very souls.
"Thank you, and of course Mr. J, it'll be returned to you as soon as we figure out the technology behind it." The male retriever responded, taking the mask from him.
"Don't call me that!" The shepherd snapped at him.
"Of course sir." The retriever replied.
The shepherd then began walking out as the retrievers immediately got to work. However, before he left, he had one more question for them.
"No one will know my identity, right?" The shepherd asked.
"Don't worry sir, they won't know who you are. You'll only be known as 'The Man Behind The Mask'." The retriever replied.
That's the end of Chapter 2
I'ma be honest, I laughed at the part where Everest did a loop mid-air as well.
I ain't got much to say here though, bye everyone.
