A couple days later...

Chase was in his room, getting ready for a date at a restaurant in Adventure Bay. It was a high end restaurant that Skye had picked out, that specialized in German cuisine, something the Cockapoo knew Chase loved.

Now where did I put my tuxedo? Chase thought to himself as he looked around.

Chase searched around until he found his tuxedo, the same one he wore whenever he went to meet the royalty. He only ever wore it when something important was happening, and he definitely classified this as important. He put on the tuxedo before attaching his bowtie over his collar, so it hid his puptag. He then left his room and went toward the elevator, ready for his date with Skye.

A couple minutes later...

Chase left the lookout and immediately noticed Skye waiting for him. He froze as he stared at the cockpoo, mesmerized by her. Skye looked at the mesmerized shepherd and giggled, before walking over to the police dog.

"Hey! Uhh... wunderschön? You ready to go or what?" Skye asked the shepherd, snapping him out of his trance. I hope wunderschön was the right word Skye thought to herself, she didn't exactly know how to speak german, which was a small problem for her when she was secretly dating someone who loved speaking german.

"Huh? Oh... yes, I am." Chase replied, already blushing a little. Skye giggled before responding.

"Then c'mon, Let's go!" Skye said before rushing to Chase's truck and hopping into the driver seat. "I'm driving this time!" Skye exclaimed as she sat down.

"Alright then, hopefully we don't crash on the way there." Chase replied, giving out a short laugh as he sat down next to her. Skye glared at him before they peeled out of the parking lot and began driving to Adventure Bay.

At Jake's resort on the mountain

A red truck with the numbers 03 down the side arrived at a resort on top of a snowy mountain, inside the truck was Marshall, who parked in front of the resort before hopping out. He then went around to the back of his truck and pulled out a large bag he had brought with him, before heading to the resort entrance.

The day before, Jake had left to visit his family who lived further north. Since it was still early in the year, and some people were still celebrating Christmas and New Year's, not many people were climbing the mountain, which meant almost no rescues for the human and husky that lived there. Jake had decided to take this opportunity to visit his family, while Everest volunteered to stay behind, in case someone did need rescuing. So Marshall wasn't surprised when the resort was empty of life as he entered. Well, mostly empty of life, except for a special lavender husky.

"Hello marshy~" Everest greeted the dalmatian upon seeing him.

"Hey Eve! Woah, you look...beautiful" Marshall said, stuttering a bit near the end. He wasn't wrong, she was wearing a nice cyan tuxedo with a black tie.

"Oh, thanks." Everest replied while lowering her head as she smiled, blushing a little. She then looked back up at Marshall, still with her head lowered. "You also look beautiful!"

"Thanks!" Marshall replied to her, he then looked around while carrying the large bag he brought from his truck. "So... where do I put this?" Marshall asked, referring to the bag.

"Hmm? Oh, the kitchen. C'mon, I'll show you to it." Everest replied before making her way to the kitchen, with Marshall following behind.

Upon entering the kitchen, Marshall tossed the bag down next to a chair before sitting down while Everest went ahead and got some food from the fridge, getting them ready to heat up before sitting down herself.

"So, how's it been down at the lookout?" Everest asked, smiling at the dalmatian across from her.

"It's been fine, Zuma is still making fun of how long it took for me and you to get together, Rocky seems to still be struggling with, something, he won't tell me what it is. Honestly, everyone accepted me back fairly quickly after... what happened." Marshall replied, lowering his head at the end.

"Well... that's good to hear." Everest said, trying to lighten up the mood.

"Yeah, it's definitely relieving that not of them believed the media." Marshall admitted, thinking about how stuff could've ended up much worse for him.

There was an awkward silence for a moment afterward before Everest finally spoke. "Uhh, so, any interesting missions happen recently?" Everest asked, changing the subject.

"Honestly? Not really. All I've really done in the last couple days is wake up, go to the fire station to hang out with the firepups there, and then return home at the end of the day. Occasionally, I'll visit Chase and Ace at the police station before heading home, but that's only occasionally." Marshall replied. "Anything interesting happen up here?" Marshall returned the question.

"No, not at all. As you know, Jake left to visit family yesterday and everything has been so... empty, since then." Everest replied, they then continued making small talk while they waited for the food to finish.

Meanwhile, with Chase and Skye

A blue truck with the numbers 02 down the side was speeding through the streets of Adventure Bay. Unexpectedly though, it was a cockapoo driving the truck instead of the shepherd who owned it.

"Why did I let you drive exactly!?" Chase asked, not liking the fast speed the cockapoo was driving at.

"Because you love me!" Skye replied, still speeding toward the destination she picked out for their date.

"Well, I do! But can you please slow down a little!?" Chase requested, really not liking the speed at which they were moving.

Skye rolled her eyes at the police pup before responding. "Fine, just for you." Skye replied before slowly down the vehicle significantly, matching the speed of the few cars that were still out this late.

"Thank you!" Chase thanked her, relieved. Causing the cockapoo to giggle.

"You're welcome." Skye replied, giving the shepherd a smile.

Chase didn't get to enjoy the slower speed for very long however, as they soon arrived at the restaurant. Skye parked the truck outside before hopping out and walking toward the entrance, with Chase following behind shortly.

When they both entered, they went up to the hostess stand and asked to be seated. After Skye confirmed their reservation, the hostess grabbed some menus and began leading the couple to a table situated against the side wall of the building. The two canines then sat down as the hostess dropped off the menus at the table before heading back to their stand.

Chase picked up the menu and began reading through it as Skye looked around, admiring the look of the restaurant. It was a higher end restaurant, having many decorations and even containing a large fountain in the center.

"So, how's your day been?" Skye asked, trying to start small talk with the shepherd.

"It's been good." Chase replied, smiling. "Yours?" Chase returned the question.

"Mine has also been good." Skye replied, smiling back. A waiter then arrived to take their order.

"Hello, may I take your order today?" The waiter asked, giving them his standard speech.

"Hello, and yes. Could I have some bratwurst? with some sauerkraut on the side?" Chase requested, he then turned to Skye. "What do you want, milady?" Chase asked her.

Skye picked up the menu and looked through it, having no clue what anything in it was. "Uhh, I'll also have bratwurst." Skye replied, putting down the menu.

"Alright, it'll be out to you two soon." The waiter said before disappearing off to the kitchen. The two of them then began having a short conversation as they waited for their food.

Back with Marshall and Everest

Everest laid out some plates full of food on the table for them to eat. She wasn't exactly the best cook, but she did know how to cook minor meals, which is what she made. She also grabbed two bowls of something from the fridge and sat them on the table before sitting down.

Marshall took a bite of the food before smiling at the husky and complimenting her. "This tastes great!"

"Thanks." Everest replied as she lowered her head and smiled, nervously. She wasn't the best at taking compliments.

"Who taught you how to cook? If I may ask." Marshall asked, wondering how she learned to cook food.

"Jake thought me how awhile ago, he did it so I could make myself something special while he was away, like he is right now." Everest replied.

Hmm, I may need to get some cooking lessons. Marshall thought to himself as he ate. He then noticed the weird bowls. "What are these?" Marshall asked, picking up one of the bowls and noticing it kind of looked like small amounts of ice cream.

"Oh, that's something called Hot Vanilla. I made it from a recipe Chase gave me back on Christmas. Apparently, it's a canine-friendly alternative to Hot Chocolate they have over in Germany. That's, of course, not poisonous to us." Everest explained to him, Marshall drank some and his eyes immediately widen from the amount of sugar in it. He honestly kind of loved it though.

"This taste amazing." Marshall exclaimed, which made Everest a bit proud of herself.

"Thanks!" Everest thanked him. I'm happy I made it correctly, it was very difficult to follow a recipe that's written in a foreign language. Everest thought to herself, still a little annoyed at Chase for giving her a recipe book that was written in German, a language he knew she didn't understand.

After a couple more minutes, they both finished eating. Marshall grabbed the bag that was sitting next to him and began pulling something out of it. Everest stared at him, confused, before asking him about it.

"What's in the bag?" Everest asked him, curious about what Marshall could've possibly brought.

"Not much, just some flowers." Marshall replied as he pulled out a large bouquet of cyan/blue flowers, each one a different shade of blue. Everest sat there, frozen while admiring the bouquet of flowers, until Marshall snapped her out of it when he spoke. "I'm sorry if they aren't good enough for you."

"Yes, I mean, no...t-they're fine Marshy." Everest replied, stuttering a little before grabbing the bouquet of flowers from him and walking over to an empty vase that sat on the counter. She then put the flowers into the vase before returning to the table and laying the vase on the center of the table. "Thank you, I'll keep them right here." Everest thanked the dalmatian.

"No problem. So, is there anything else you'd like to do while I'm here?" Marshall asked, wanting to continue their date.

"We could go on a walk around the mountain. I haven't done that in awhile ever since what happened with those wolves." Everest replied, trying to laugh off the incident with Tyrannus.

"Sounds good, let's take a different path this time though. I'd prefer not running into those guys again." Marshall said, referring to the pack of wolves.

"Fine with me." Everest responded as she stood up and headed for the resort entrance, with Marshall following behind.

Back at the restaurant, with Chase and Skye.

The two canines were sitting at their table when their food finally arrived. Both were presented with a large plate of bratwurst, and of course, were shortly followed by a bowl of Hot Vanilla, which the restaurant gave as a standard side meal to all canines who ate at the restaurant.

They also supplied weirdly shaped spoons, forks, and knifes, which Skye thought was strange until Chase explained that they were canine-friendly utensils that were made with the purpose of being easier to hold with paws then normal utensils. This stunned Skye a little; she knew that Germany loved treating canines amazingly, but she wasn't aware how far they really went with making canines feel accommodated. Even in German restaurants in different countries.

The two pups then began eating, after a short time of Skye struggling to get used to the new utensils, and both loved the food. Chase shared the sauerkraut initially, but decided to just eat it himself after Skye took a bite and clearly didn't like its sour flavor, though she did try to hide it behind a smile.

"So, what other amazing things does Germany do to accommodate canines?" Skye asked, genuinely curious about what else Chase's homeland does for canines.

"A lot, too much to explain everything. One of the better things they've done in my opinion though is the car situation they've been dealing with." Chase replied between bites of bratwurst.

"Car situation?" Skye asked, clearly confused now.

"Okay so, back when hand-to-paw was declared in Germany, and canines began being treated the same, or similar, to humans, they began buying vehicles to help them travel long distances by themselves without them having to run there. However, this did cause issues with how cars were built, being adapted for human use. So after some... major incidents happened... the German government decided to start production on a canine accessable vehicle. Every canine that owned a human adapted vehicle could trade them in for a canine adapted one, at no extra cost." Chase explained as Skye sat there, increasingly more interested as he explained it to her.

"Woah, so like our vehicles? Just, for the public?" Skye asked, assuming it was just like the ones they drove.

"No, not exactly." Chase replied, smiling nervously. "The ones over there are significantly different. Like when I say canine adapted, I mean fully adapted for canine use."

"Oh, alright then, sounds amazing." Skye responded, still holding her beaming smile.

"It really is." Chase said before both of them resumed eating. However, while Chase was eating, he swore he could hear someone speaking behind him. He tried to ignore it at first, but something in him told him to listen in on the conversation.

So, did you find the next target Syl?

Yes sir, the current carrier of the briefcase is a rottweiler, living in an apartment building in this very town. Not too far away down the street.

Do you have the exact address and room number?

Address? Yes. Room number? Not yet. I'll get it to you as soon as I can.

Good, anything else I should know before going to... "Deal" with them?

Chase was shocked upon hearing this. Next target? Briefcase? Deal with them how? Chase thought to himself, trying to make sense of what he heard. He decided to stay quiet, as to not arouse suspicion that he heard something that he probably shouldn't have, and told himself that he'd meet with the ABPD the next day about this.

Him and Skye soon finished their meal. Chase paid the check and both of them began heading for the exit of the restaurant. As they were leaving, Chase glanced over to the seats that were behind where he and Skye were seated, and saw a familiar blue Belgian shepherd, along with what looked like a German shepherd. Chase made a mental note of them before him and Skye left.

They two pups hopped into the truck, with Skye still driving as Chase couldn't bring himself to tell her she couldn't, and began making their way back to the lookout.

15 minutes later...

A blue truck arrived back at the lookout and parked outside, before a formally dressed cockapoo and shepherd hopped out.

"That was a great night, thanks Skye." Chase thanked the cockapoo for taking him out.

"You're welcome." Skye replied, leaning against the shepherd as they both stared up at the night sky.

"I honestly wish this night could go on longer." Chase whispered to his secret mate.

"Y'know, there is one more thing we could do before the night ends~" Skye whispered back while smiling at the shepherd.

"And what is tha- Agh! " Chase was cut off by Skye grabbing his collar with her teeth and dragging him toward the lookout.

Meanwhile, with Marshall and Everest

The dalmatian and husky entered the resort together, having just finished their hike around the top of the mountain. Everest took off her jacket and hung it on a coat rack that stood next to the door, while Marshall immediately went to light a fire, as he was almost a block of ice.

"Nothing like a nice, relaxing walk late in the night." Everest said, walking over to the dalmatian and sitting down next to him.

"Yep, I think it's time to end the night though." Marshall responded, finally getting the fire lit.

"Aww, you sure? I'm quite enjoying it." Everest said, giving Marshall the cutest puppy eyes she could manage.

Marshall couldn't resist the look Everest was giving him and gave in. "Fine, maybe we don't need to end it just yet." Marshall replied.

"Yay!" Everest exclaimed as she leaned against the dalmatian, a smile on her face going from ear to ear.

They both sat there, watching the fire in the nice, calm silence of the resort, until Everest remembered something.

"Y'know, we forgot something important~" Everest informed the dalmatian, which confused him a little.

"And what is that?" Marshall asked.

"This!" Everest replied, grabbing Marshall and pulling him into a kiss. The spotted firepup was stunned for a moment before melting into it, beginning to turn bright red. Everest then pulled away and smiled at him. "So, how was that?"

Marshall stared at her, feeling a bit dizzy, before fainting, falling over onto the ground. Everest giggled before lifting him onto her back and walking him toward their room. Now, she was ready to end the night.

That's the end of Chapter 5.

Poor Chase, he has no idea what Skye has planned for him.

Next time will likely be a normal-ish chapter. The calm before the storm, if you will.

Anyway, until the next chapter, bye everyone!
