Xander and Cordelia materialized in a park, a familiar looking park.
"This is Weatherly Park. In Sunnydale. Damn it, we can't seem to escape Sunnydale." Xander exclaimed. "How are you feeling?"
"Better, my hand isn't vibrating anymore. I miss them already, Xander."
"So do I. We finally found a place we fit in. Where no one questions our involvement. Or our competency or anything else about us. Our abilities were starting to grow because we were able to exercise them with no one freaking out over them. I even discovered a new way of teleporting, using flames. I suppose it makes sense since I can make fireballs of various sizes. But the only way we could have stayed is if Artemis wasn't there. And that's not fair to her, because it was her reality first. But we'll see them again. Come on, we need to get out of Sunnydale. And then jump again."
"I wonder what the date is. It never seems to be the same from one reality to the next."
"No, it doesn't, does it? Cordy, I hear the sounds of fighting. Fists hitting flesh and that kind of things."
"Where?"
"Over that way, outside the park."
"Maybe Buffy or Faith fighting vampires."
"Let's find out."
They followed the sounds of fighting and heard Buffy's voice. "You tore my shirt, you idiot! Do have any idea how hard it is to replace my wardrobe on my allowance?"
"Yep, definitely Buffy." Xander said dryly.
"Yo, B. Don't worry about it. It's not like anything's showing."
"And Faith's here too." Cordelia smiled. "Maybe this is our Sunnydale and they're finally learning to get along."
They looked at each other and then. "Nah. It would have to be a radically different reality for that to be the case." Xander insisted.
"Unfortunately, you're probably right. There they are. Xander, that's an awful lot of vampires. There's what, twenty of them?"
"At least and who knows how many they dealt with before we got here."
"Let's help them out." Cordelia suggested.
Xander grinned. "Let's, I could use a good fight right now."
Buffy and Faith had been patrolling and for some reason Faith had insisted on discussing their friend Alex.
"You sure you don't have any interest in X?" Faith asked, wondering if she had an open field.
"No, I love Alex, I just don't love Alex. You know what I mean."
"Yeah, I do. I just don't want to step on any toes, you know what I mean?"
"You're interested in Alex?"
"Kinda thinking about it. X and C are splitsville right?"
"After that thing with Willow, yeah they are. Hold that thought, looks like we've run into some trouble." Buffy pointed to a very large group of vampires, maybe twenty five to thirty, she didn't bother to count, coming towards them.
"Well, I was itching for some action tonight, this will have to do." Faith said and with a whoop, attacked the vampire nearest her. Buffy proceeded to do the same. They been fighting for several minutes and Buffy had just complained about damage to her shirt, when two people suddenly appeared near them and also attacked the vampires. A girl about their age with some kind of doubled staff weapon and a boy with two axes. And they were pretty good too.
"Yo, B. Looks like we've got some help." Faith pointed to the two teenagers who'd joined the fight. "They're pretty good. Looks like they know what they're doing too."
"They shouldn't be interfering, they're just going to get hurt."
"Typical Buffy." The boy said. "You never change your tune. Truth is, normal humans are quite capable of handling vampires if they know how. We don't need to hide behind the Slayers."
"You know what Slayers are?" Buffy demanded, as she dusted another vampire. "And who I am?"
"Yes, we do. But so do alot of people. Vampires and Slayers aren't nearly as secret as the Watchers Council likes to believe they are." He answered, as a vampire's head was removed by one of his axes and it was reduced to dust as well.
"I haven't seen this many vampires since the Harvest!" Buffy exclaimed. "Where are they coming from? And why are they using swords?"
"I remember this." Xander said. "Supposedly extinct vampire cult that worships a demon. A ugly, fat demon called Balthazor. They wanted this amulet the Mayor stole from Balthazor a century ago."
"The Mayor?" Buffy asked. "And how do you know that?"
"Xander!" Cordelia suddenly called out. "There's a human approaching, he's walking straight into a stake!"
"This is when that happens?!" He exclaimed.
"Yes! I'll get him out of here, you finish dealing with these vampires." And to Buffy and Faith's astonishment, the girl, Cordelia was it? Teleported out with a shimmering effect. The boy, Xander, as she'd called him, further astonished the two by making his axes disappear. He held up his hands and tiny fireballs flew at the remaining vampires, reducing them all to dust.
"Normal, my ass!" Faith exclaimed. "You do Magic!"
"Yes, we do. But we didn't always. I fought for two and half years without Magic. And I did just fine and rarely got injured."
"But normal humans shouldn't have to!" Buffy insisted.
"Why? They're alot safer when they do. Armed with knowledge, a stake, holy water and making sure to stick with groups of people, keeps people safer from all kinds of different problems. Humans don't need Slayers to protect them."
"Then why did the gods make Slayers to protect humans?!"
"They didn't. Humans made Slayers to hide behind so they could pretend they were doing the fighting by sending barely trained, barely armed little girls out to do the fighting for them. And by the way, why are you acting like you don't know us? We do exist here, do we?"
"Here where?" Faith asked.
"Here in this reality. We're from another reality. We're just passing through."
"What's your name?" Buffy asked suspiciously.
"Alexander McCleod, formerly Alexander Harris. And the gorgeous lady getting the human safely out of the way, is my girlfriend, Cordelia Chase."
"Oh boy." Said Faith. "This is going to be fun."
"Why?" Xander asked.
"Because if you really are from another reality, then you're in for a big shock. Because in this reality, Alexandria Harris used to date Cord Chase."
