"Oh my gosh, why's my head throbbing?"
Sitting up from the couch, Olivia held her head looking around the room that was unfamiliar to her. The snow falling outside the window wasn't there before she was asleep. Olivia was about to stand up when her head started pounding more.
"I wouldn't do that, Olivia. You'll just fall again."
Edison appeared beside her holding an ice pack. Flinching away from him, getting to the other side of the couch as fast as she could.
"Did you kidnap me? How the hell are you here? What nightmare am I in now?" she screamed at him.
"Quiet now, you'll make your headache worse," he told her putting the ice to the back of her head. "I wish you would have come with me willingly, but you didn't seem to make that possible. Like I said to that Judge, you needed a vacation, and I am giving you one. A few days away from life will give you some much needed rest. I almost didn't recognize you in the courtroom earlier. You look exhausted and so thin. Have you been eating at all?"
Taking a seat on the couch a few inches from her feet, Edison gently rubbed her legs and tossed the blanket over them once he felt how cold she was.
"Where are we, Edison? What the hell are we even doing here? How are you here?"
"Olivia, you need to calm down. We're in Maryland. We're are my old cellmate's house. He let me borrow it for the week. Once your headache is gone, we can go skiing or sledding if you like. You are so good at skiing."
Rubbing her head, careful not to look away from him. "A week? You think you can hold me captive here for a week? What do you want? Edison, you know they'll come after you. The cops, Huck, Fi…"
"Fitzgerald. Your boyfriend. I know, and he won't get far. He'll end up just like the other one. How can you not understand that we are supposed to be together? I had to get rid of Stephen. He was in the way of you and me being together. And now Fitzgerald is too. I'll dispose of the problem just like before."
"You will not touch him!"
"You know that I am the one who can make you happy, Olivia. Remember how wonderful we were in high school? We were inseparable for the entire time."
"You cheated on me. How inseparable can we be after that?"
"I apologized for that. You forgave me for cheating."
"I forgave you by breaking up with you."
"Which was the biggest mistake of our lives. We should have moved past that and gotten married. We could have had kids by now."
Olivia laughed at the thought of it. "You think I'd want children with you? A psychopathic man that murdered a man in cold blood. I would never be with you again. Never. Do you get that? I despise you! The second worst day of my life was the day I ever laid eyes on you!"
Getting up from his seat to go to the side table, Edison picked up a bottle of water and Tylenol for her. "I know how you get when you're in pain. Take these, you'll feel better in a bit."
"I'm not taking those; how do I know that's actually what they are? I don't trust you, Edison."
"I have never physically hurt you, Olivia, have I? Emotionally and mentally, I have probably done more than my fair share of damage, of course. But not once did I lay a hand on you. I easily could have killed you the same night I did Stephen. I had every chance to kill you today when I escaped. That's not me. I don't hurt you."
"You hit me over the head and knocked me unconscious. I think that falls under physically hurt."
"It was the only way for me to get you out of there without you screaming your head off. Take the damn pills, Olivia."
"I'm not taking them. I refuse."
Standing beside her, Edison pulled the gun out of the back of his jeans and pointed it at her head, clicking it back. "Take them."
Staring down the barrel at him, she hesitated a moment before looking at the pills in the bottle and recognizing them as Tylenol and took two with the bottled water.
"I thought you said you would never hurt me?"
"It's the last thing I ever want to do to you, but if you keep pushing me, I won't have a choice." Seeing the terrified look on her face, he put the gun back and lightly traced a finger on the side of her face. "So please don't make me do that." Returning to sit beside her feet again, he put one on his lap and started to massage it. "Are you hungry? I could make you some pancakes. You used to love it when I made those for you. I asked Hal to stock the kitchen with all your favorites. Even got you the strawberries and chocolate chips for homemade pancakes," he smiled at her.
Olivia resisted the urge to pull her foot away from him. Though all she really wanted to do was kick him in the balls and run like hell but at the moment, she barely had the wherewithal to stand on her own two feet.
"I don't think I could keep anything down right now. I feel like I could throw up."
"If you need to you know I'll hold your hair back again," he smirked. "You got so drunk at that Halloween party your junior year. Your dad was going to kill me when I carried you in the house passed out."
"You aren't answering the questions, Edison. How are you here? Judge Sparks had you taken into custody again and you were being moved."
"I had to get to you. I did what I had to do to get to you."
"What? What did you have to do? Edison what have you done?" she yelled, pulling her body further from me.
Letting go of her foot, he turned towards her completely. "I had to kill him. Sparks was standing between you and me. I needed to get to you."
"You killed a judge? You… what?!"
"I shot him, Olivia. Twice to the heart."
"But how? How could you even get out of holding?"
"Overpower. I managed to overpower the two guards that were with me. I took their guns and shot them in the head. One right through to the other," he smiled. "It worked out better than I planned actually. Saved a bullet."
"You are insane! Do you know what they'll do when they find you? They won't ask questions, they will shoot. The cops will come find me and they will find you and shoot you dead. Not a shot to wound. A shoot to kill. Do you get that?"
Shaking his head, he didn't care. "No one is going to find us. We are so far out of civilization it takes twenty minutes to even manage to find this place. I was careful to cover any tracks too. Believe me, Olivia, no one is going to find us. It'll just be some peaceful time for us to come together again."
"My head feels like it's going to explode." Shivering under the blanket wrapped around her legs, Olivia held her head in her hands.
"Lay down and rest. I'll get a fire going and then I'll make you some soup." Edison stood and pulled her legs out to lay her flat before leaning over to kiss her forehead.
Watching him start the fire, Olivia fought drifting off from her headache. This is worse than a nightmare. It's a living nightmare! How do I manage to get out of this one? How could I be so stupid to let this happen to me? I know Edison would never physically hurt me. He's definitely had every chance to do that. Other than bashing me over the head. Freaking out is not going to help. Controlled breathing, Olivia. Don't make sudden moves or piss him off. Setting him over the edge is only going to do more damage.
While Liv tried to find a way out of the house without him knowing, Edison stood in the kitchen making her chicken soup and watching her from the doorway. She'll be fine. I just need to let her cool off. Olivia's just the same as always. She'll be pissed off at me for a while, but she'll come around. Olivia will understand why I had to kill them. I'll make her see that we are supposed to be together. I won't hold three years in prison over her head. It's not her fault, it's that dead boyfriend's. All he had to do was leave her.
Taking the bowl to her, Edison sat on the floor in front of her by the fire, letting her eat a bit of it before he spoke. "How've you been? I haven't gotten any updates about you since you took down your Facebook. And since I've been banned from electronic devices. You finished school, right?"
"Really? You really think I'm going to sit here, and play catch up with you? Like we're two old friends at a reunion? No, Edison. You fucking kidnapped me out of a courtroom! You don't get to ask how I am. You definitely don't get to know what's going on in my life. This is exactly why you don't have internet rights. You are obsessed with me, and I just want you dead. You really want to know how I've been? I've been wanting you dead! For four years, I have prayed every night that someone, somehow, somewhere in that prison will do me the biggest favor of their life and kill you. That someone would do humanity a favor and kill you like you killed Stephen. I wish that I had never met you. I've wished that I could go back and have you sentenced to death. That they would stick a needle in your arm and while you are strapped down to a table and inject your veins with potassium chloride to give you a heart attack. Skip right over the pancuronium bromide and the sodium thiopental and let you suffer right through a heart attack and make sure you felt every single ache in your body." Olivia paused herself, taking a deep breath.
"Wow, a bit dark there, Olivia," Edison snarked, holding his chest. "You could actually wish that on someone? On someone you love?"
"You think I love you?! You killed the love of my life! You killed him in front of me. In my bed with him. You broke me into bits and pieces that have been shattered for years," she yelled throwing the bowl at the wall.
Coming closer to her, Edison was about to touch her knee to calm her but she kicked him away. "I will fix it. I can put you back together, Olivia. I will do whatever it takes to make you see how much I love you."
"You don't love me! You're in love with the idea of what we had in high school. I'm barely coming back together with Fitz!"
"Don't say that!" Edison yelled at her, standing up in front of her. "Don't talk about him! We are together, we are meant to be together."
Standing up, she got equal to his chest a few inches from him. "Fitz is putting me back together. Fitz is the one who is bringing me back to life. You will never be my boyfriend again!"
"Olivia, you love me. We love each other!"
"I HATE YOU! When they catch you now, you crossed state lines. You are in federal jurisdiction now! Do you get that? Do you know what that means?"
"Not a state?" he laughed.
Shoving him back away from her as hard as she could, Edison fell back to the arm of the couch. Only pissing him off further, he reached back and pulled the gun out, putting it to her forehead.
