Episode 4: Through the Looking Glass
Last time, Copy Robot Copy Android have Sonic and Eve after capturing Silver. At the same time, Metal Sonic and Metal Eve managed to lure Mega Man and Mega Woman into the Green Hill Zone. And thanks to that, the two pairs of heroes are fighting against each other. Thanks to Dr. Light, he's able to open the portal back to Mega City.
After successfully luring them to Mega City, Mega Man and Mega Woman managed to call for backup. Beat a blue and yellow bird robot. Rush, a red robotic dog. Tango, a green robotic cat. And lastly, Eddie, a shy reddish robot.
Mega Man says, "I mean it. Surrender. We don't want to destroy you, but my friends here are a little overprotected."
Above, Tails Man is still monitoring the events, "Pursuit successful doctors. Continuing video transmission."
"Uh-huh," Sonic replies, rolling his eyes.
Eve then says, "No offense, but smashing little animal-shaped robots is kind of our thing."
"And we KNOW you both can't fire that lemon-shooter without this what-chamacallit," Sonic says, holding the drive.
"Man, what a jerk," Mega Woman mutters.
"Tell me about it," Mega Man says. "We gave you a chance."
Soon, the little Robot, Eddie, opens a compartment to reveal two more drives.
Both Mega Man and Mega Woman take one.
"Thanks to Eddie, fixing my Mega Buster is no problem," Mega Man says.
Thank you, Eddie," Mega Woman says.
Eddie beeps happily.
"Uh oh," Eve replies.
"Wellllll, crud," Sonic replies.
Mega Man and Mega Woman try to blast the hedgehogs, but they dodge.
"And thanks to our other friends, YOU'RE no problem," Mega Woman says.
"So that's how you want to play -" Sonic says, but Tango spin dashes Sonic, "AUHK!"
"That's my move!" Sonic cries out.
And begins running from Tango, "Cut that out."
Eve then spin dashes at Tango.
"Hey, don't mess with our cat!" Mega Woman shouts, and brings out her sword.
Eve then uses her sword to block it.
Sonic then tries to Spin Dash Mega Man, "Look close Robo-Cat, THIS is how it's -"
But Mega Man dodges by bouncing on a spring platform on Rush's back.
"Hey!" Sonic cries out.
Mega Man then grabs Beat's talon, "Too slow!"
And tries to blast Sonic. Sonic tries to run, but gets knocked by Tango.
"At what point… did… I lose control here?" Sonic questions.
Sonic gets up and says, "All right - time to get serious!" and Sonic begins to speed up the building.
Once he scales the building, Sonic begins to spin dash towards Beat
Mega Man notices it and cries out, "Look out! He's coming right for -"
But Sonic hits Beat on the head, causing it to drop Mega Man. But then, Rush flies in to rescue Mega Man.
Mega Man pats Rush, "Good boy, Rush!"
"The dog flies. Of course the dog flies," Sonic says, annoyed.
Then Sonic dashes off, "But can it fly AND keep up with me?"
"Get back here!" Mega Man says.
With that, Mega Man and Rush chase Sonic on the street. Tails Man follows from behind.
Meanwhile, Eve and Mega Woman continue fighting against one another.
"You're pretty tough for some robotic girl," Eve says.
"Well I can be tougher when I want to be," Mega Woman says as he pushes Eve back and begins using her blaster.
Eve dodges as she says, "Well we wouldn't be in this problem if you didn't kidnap Silver."
"Who?" Mega Woman questions.
Eve speeds to Mega woman with her sword. Mega Woman blocks the attack and they both have each other at a stand still.
"I didn't kidnap anyone!" Mega Man says, "You and your other robot have stolen an important gemstone."
"Gemstone, what are you…?" Eve questions, but notices something off.
Eve places her sword down and asks, "Hold on, didn't you have pigtails before?"
"What? I don't wear pigtails," Mega Woman says, confused. "And now that I'm asking for a better look at you, you don't look like a robot, and my scanner is picking out that you're organic. And you don't look like either one of the two robots."
"Wait, you thought I was a robot?" Eve questions. "And you mention there were two robots that look like me?"
"Yeah. One of them that Mega Man was chasing looked like you and the blue one. The second looks more masculine," Mega Woman says.
Eve soon crosses her arms and says, "Hmmm… I smell a rat, more like an egg. A bad one."
"Huh?" Mega Woman says, confused.
Eve says, "Listen, I think there's a big misunderstanding. We need to find the boys."
"I'm starting to think that myself. Let's go find them," Mega Woman says.
With that, Mega Woman and Eve head off to find the boys.
Somewhere in the streets, Sonic continues to run from Mega Man and Rush. Sonic leads them into a street full of cars and people. Mega Man knows that he can't harm innocent people.
Mega Man calls out, "There's no reason for innocent people to get hurt!"
"Look who's talkin' Cap'n Trigger Happy!" Sonic says.
"That gem your buddies stole from the bank isn't yours! Just return it, and I'll call off the chase!" Mega Man says.
"I didn't steal anything! YOU'RE the one who kidnapped my friends!" Sonic argues.
But Mega Man argues, " I didn't kidnap anyone!"
Suddenly, Eve calls out, "Sonic!"
"Mega Man!" Mega Woman calls out.
The boys turn to see Eve and Mega Woman hurrying to them, together.
Once they catch up, Eve says, "Guys, I think we had a big misunderstanding.
On board the Wily Egg…
Eggman and Wily are not liking what they're seeing.
Eggman is the first to panic, "No-No-NO! They're TALKING! You know what that means!"
"They're going to realize that Metal Sonic, Metal Eve, Copy Robot, and Copy Android are to blame and that's going to lead them back to us," Dr. Wily says.
In the background, Orbot and Cubot are playing cards with the robot.
"Got any twos?" Cubot asks,
"Go fish," Orbot answers.
"And was still one Chaos Emerald short," Wily adds, holding the emerald.
Then Eggman gives the orders, "Tails Man! Move to engage! Destroy them all!"
"Are you crazy?! A direct attack is only going to clue them in faster!" Dr. Wily cries out.
Eggman turns to Wily, "We either strike now, while they're weak from fighting each other, or we wait for them to regroup… and come after US."
Not a moment of thought, Wily says, "Tails Man! Blow them off the map!"
At Mega City…
"Acknowledged," Tails Man says.
Soon, something knocks at Mega Man, Mega Woman, and Rush, causing them to react, "AUGH!" "YIPE!"
"What the -" Eve exclaims.
Sonic realizes, "TAILS?!"
Tails Man turns back and uses some Whirlwind power to everyone, including the cars flying.
A passenger from the car cries out, "HELP!"
Sonic acts fast and uses his speed to save the female driver's life.
"Th-Thank you! You saved my life!" The woman says.
Mega Man grabs one of the cars, "Oof! Got you!"
Sonic turns to see Mega Man holding the car while Mega Woman helps the people out and to safety.
Sonic bounces off Mega Man's head and says, "Truce for now so we can rescue people cool? COOL!"
"Yeah… okay, truce," Mega Man says.
Then turns to the girls, "You all agree?"
"Agree!" The girls answer.
Soon, the pair of heroes begin to rescue the civilians as they try to get closer to Tails Man.
Mega Man calls out, "Distract him before he recharges! I need time to build up a charge shot!"
"I said 'truce' not 'I'll cover you slowpoke,'" Sonic says.
Then Mega Man says, "But mine and Mega Man's charge shot seems to disable robots like him! But we're not fast enough to -"
"You got that right. Just remember which one of us you're aiming for kiddo," Sonic says.
"Come on Sonic, let's stop him before he cause any more damage," Eve says.
"Yeah!" Sonic says.
He then jumps towards Tails Man, "Tails, if that is you. I'm sorry." and kicks him in the face.
"NOW!" Mega Woman calls out.
And with that, Mega Man fires the charge shot and strikes at Tails Man. Then Sonic spins dashes him. Tails Man falls to the ground, but appears to be acting weird.
"That's… not what happened last time," Mega Man says.
"It seems that your Charge Shot, combined with the blue guy's hit, must have done something new," Mega Woman says.
"Glad to know you've got this down to an exact science," Sonic says.
"What do we do now?" Eve asks.
Mega Man grabs Tails Man and says, "I'll try taking his weapon data and see if that gives any answers."
"'Weapon data'...? No that doesn't sound backstabby at all," Sonic says, rolling his eyes.
Mega Woman glares at Sonic, "Well unless you have a better idea, then I suggest we do our thing."
"Probably for the best…" Eve says.
But before Mega Man can do something, Tails Man ends up changing back to Tails, his organic self.
Dumbfounded, Mega Man says, "That…"
"...Was weird…" Tails answers, feeling dizzy.
Sonic happily grabs Tails and gives him a nuggie, "Tails! It WAS you in there! Since when were you and killer robot!""
"Ack!" Tails yelp, "It's not my fault I was kidnapped!"
"By these crash test dummies with an attitude," Sonic replies, pointing to Mega Man and Mega Woman.
"Hey!" Mega Woman says, offended.
"No my Metal Sonic and some other robot…" Tails answers.
"Another robot?" Eve says, confused.
Tails nods, "Yes. They look a little like this guys but all black and gold with big fins on his helmet,"
"...Bass?!" Mega Man and Mega Woman say in shock.
Then Tails says, "They took me to some strange lab run by Dr Eggman and another scientist I've never seen before. Eggman called him… 'Albert' I think,"
"Albert?!" Mega Woman says, shocked, "That's Dr. Albert W. Wily!"
"We've been fighting him for years! So…" Mega Man says. But realize something, "Wait. I thought you both were working for HIM, but…"
Then Sonic says, "Whoa-whoa-whoa! I can't believe I'm saying this but SLOW DOWN! I saw someone exactly like you two snipe Silver."
"Sonic's right. I didn't realize it before, but the girl robot was different. She has pigtails and her outfit is darker, same with the other guy."
"If Dr Wily's involved, that must've been a Copy Robot and Copy Android!" Mega Woman says.
"Heh, Original," Sonic replies, not very interested, "So… still sure we attacked you?
"SOMETHING Did, and it was as fast and blue as you, and the other black and red," Mega Man says.
He then asks, "Your friend said there was a 'Metal Sonic'? "
"My buddy's name is 'Tails' and yeah, there's a robot copy of me. Kind of a jerk," Sonic says.
"And if there was another robot of me, that must have been Metal Eve," Eve says.
"Then Dr. Wily and you're Doctor… Eggman?... Must have sent them on purpose to confuse us," Mega Woman says, realized.
"Sounds like Eggman's usual brand of stupid," Sonic says.
Eve groans, "And we fell for it."
"Yeah. That's true," Sonic says.
Then says, "You said you saw similar robots?"
"Like Tails? Yeah three more," Mega Man says.
"And one of them looks like her, but seems more masculine," Mega Woman says, turning to Eve.
"One one was my brother, Shadow. My friend Rouge told me disappeared," Eve says.
"If what she says is true, then that explains the missing friends of ours," Sonic says.
He then says, "Okay, cool! Let's go kick some doctor butt!"
Mega Man is flabbergasted, "Wait -THAT'S IT?! You tried to smash me! I tried to shoot you!"
"That was a whole minute ago, man! Keep up!" Sonic says.
"But… But…" Mega Man says, confused.
"He's exhausting, I know, but you get used to it," Tails says.
Then Tails says, "You don't understand our programming FORBIDS us from harming life!"
"She's right, the only reason we could fight them was because my logic processor labeled them as a robot! That kind of loop-hole could be exploited to-!" Mega Man says.
But Mega Woman says, "Yeah about that, I started to realize they're…"
"PFFT!" Sonic tries to hold his laughter, but unable to and starts laughing, "You both thought my sis and I were ROBOTS...?" The fur, flesh, and the whole breathing thing didn't give it away?"
"I-I'm sorry my scans said you seemed organic, but I thought you HAD to be a machine. Nothing alive is that amazingly fast," Mega Man says.
"Yeah. We weren't really sure because of your speed, but we know we made an error on it," Mega Woman says.
"Eh, easy mistake. I AM amazing," Sonic says, "You helped us save Tails. I'd call us even. Cool?" and presents his hand out.
"Cool," Mega Man says and takes Sonic's hand, "I'm Mega Man I hope I didn't hurt you too badly,"
"Sonic the Hedgehog," Sonic introduces himself, "And nah, no harm done. But you and your friend ARE tough bots." Then asks, "You both ARE a robot, right?"
Mega Woman giggles, "Haha - yeah! You're both pretty impressive yourself. By the way, I'm Mega Woman, I'm Mega Man's partner, and roommate."
"And I'm Eve, Sonic's sister," Eve says.
"And I'm Tails," Tails says.
Soon Eve's back[ack wiggles and the little black and red Chao comes out.
"Hey sleepy head, you missed the entire thing," Eve says.
"Who's this?" Mega Woman asks.
"This is Jazz, and she's my Chao friend. Say hi, Jazz," Eve says.
"Chao Chao," Jazz replies hello, after rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
Then Sonic says, "So Dr Eggman is up to something yet again, huh?"
"Something BIG," Tails answers, "I don't remember much, just that I was turned into a 'Robot Master.'"
"More like 'Roboticized Master," Eve says.
"Any idea where he and this Wily guy are hiding?" Sonic asks, turning to Mega Man.
"No, but if Dr Light has any data on the portals he was using…" Mega Man says.
"YES! We can try tracking it to where the doctors are hiding!" Tails says.
"Exactly," Mega Woman says.
"All right! We've settled with that noise," Sonic says, cracking his knuckles, "Let's get to kicking mad scientist butt!"
Eve then asks, "So how do we get to the lab?"
"We'll take the most direct route," Mega Man says.
And with that, Mega Man and Mega Woman, teleport themselves along with the others to Light Labs. However, the four Mobians become sick to their stomach.
"I… I never want to do that again…" Sonic says, feeling sick.
"I think my stomach is doing belly flops," Eve says.
"Chao Chao," Jazz replies, feeling sick.
"Sorry! Teleporting works fine on people. Dr Light perfected that years ago. But I guess you're not like most…" Mega Man says.
Mega Woman opens the door and allows everyone to walk inside.
Mega Man then says, "Er, anyway I landed us outside so I can introduce you slowly. If all Dr. Light's saw was us fighting, he might be nervous seeing you here, y'know?"
"We sent Eddie along home earlier. But since he can't talk," Mega Woman says.
Suddenly, Eve smells something, "Do you smell smoke?"
The group soon looks to see smoke and see where it's going.
"OH NO! THE LAB!" Mega Woman cries out.
"DOCTOR LIGHT!" Mega Man cries out and runs inside.
When everyone arrive in the lab, they see Proto Man fighting against Bass as Metal Sonic and Metal Eve are taking Dr. Light through the Warp Ring.
Mega Man cries out "PUT HIM DOWN!"
But Bass blasts at then, forcing them to dodge.
"Too slow, brat," Bass says and walks through the Warp Ring.
The Ring closes before they can get to him.
"Is everyone all right?" Mega Woman asks.
"Yes!" Roll answers and hugs Mega Man in fear, "Proto Man protected us! But they came out of nowhere with no warning, and… and…" and soon notices the Mobians.
"...Yeeaah, I'm gonna to have to explain a few things…" Mega Man sheepishly says.
After explaining the situation and Dr. Eggman and Dr. Wily's involvement, Tails, Roll, and Proto Man are on their search for Dr. Light with the computer. Mega Man and Mega Woman, Rock and Juniper are cleaning up the mess. Eve and Jazz help while Sonic relaxes on the table.
Looking at the monitor, Roll explains, "Dr Light was working on a way to replicate the portal energy here in the lab. He was close to finishing it when we were attacked."
"The frequency was different from the attack this morning. You can see the variances here and here," Proto Man says.
"Mm-hmm," Tails says, "They're not that far off from each other. It looks like the portals are originating from a third point," And begins typing on the keypad, "These properties remind me of the Special Zone A LOT…"
Rock turns to Sonic, "You could help y'know."
"Tails is the computer guy, not me," Sonic says, still lounging, "Once he's got things figured out, then I'll do my thing just wait a bit."
"We don't have 'a bit'," Rock says, clearly upset, "My dad's in danger! And I'm stuck here sweeping!"
"And like I said we'll save him! Relax!" Sonic says.
"If it was your dad would you-?" Rock says, upset.
"Rock, calm down. I know you're but we still need to figure out where they took him," Juniper says.
"Juniper is right. I'm sure Tails will find the answer very soon," Eve says.
And right on cue, "Uhhh… guys? I think I found it." The group looks to see Tails has found the location.
"Finally! Let's go!" Rock says, and changes to his suit.
Mega Woman does the same. Sonic and Eve soon join them. Eve Jazz joins in.
Tails types on the computer, "Launch portal into unknown origin in three… two… one…"
And the Warp Ring opens.
"That looks different from the others," Roll says.
"Well. I stabilized it a bit more with a few calculations on my own," Tails ays.
"Thanks, Tails. Now I'm going after Dr Light!" Mega Man says.
But Sonix says, "WE are going after Dr Light,"
"It's MY father they took. It's my fight," Mega Man says.
"We go together. Besides it'll be FUN to SAVE a doctor for once," Sonic says.
"Where Sonic goes I go," Tails says.
"I'll go too. Besides, with Eggman evolved in this, we can't just sit here," Eve says.
"And I'm going to help Dr. Light too," Mega Woman says.
"Thank you… all of you," Mega Man says.
"Wouldn't have it any other way," Sonic says.
Then Proto Man says, "I'm coming, too, and it would be wise to bring Rush as well."
"Who will protect the lab?" Mega Man asks.
"We're on guard this time!" Roll says, "We've got Tango and Beat here… and I'm sure Duo is on his way go! We'll be fine!"
"Duo?" Tails says, confused.
"He's a friend of ours," Mega Woman says.
A POWERFUL friend," Proto Man adds.
"All right guys - This is it! Are we ready?" Mega Man says.
"We're ready for anything! Let's go!" Tails says.
Soon, everyone begins to walk through the portal.
Roll says, "Rock, Juniper, be careful."
"We will. And we WILL bring dad home, don't worry," Mega Man says.
Soon, everyone walks through the portal and reaches the other side.
"Wha-?" Mega Man questions.
"Oh my," Mega Woman replies.
"Okay… wasn't expecting THIS…" Sonic says, confused.
"No kidding…" Eve replies.
And soon, they arrived at a strange zone, known as the Skull Egg Zone.
