Caroline's Bedroom
Few Days Later…
Caroline laughed as she gently brushes her hair while sitting on the stool front of her vanity. "So, you and Lee got kicked out thirty-six bars from seven different states? Seriously?" Caroline shakes her head with disbelieved and amused as she is talking to her friend, Lexi through the speaker on her phone that was on the vanity.
Kol was amused when he learned that Lexi is very wild party gal.
"Well, it's not my fault that those bars don't know how to party." Lexi answered through the phone with huffed.
"Wow, I guess I better make sure I throw the best damn party so you don't have to get banish from it." The blonde-haired beauty said with faux-serious voice.
Lexi chuckled and a masculine voice speak up which Caroline and Kol learned long ago that it was Lee, Lexi's long-term boyfriend. "Lexi did mention to me about that party, on Stefan's birthday. She had a blast."
Caroline beamed happily. "I'm really glad Lexi enjoyed it. I did too and it also gained me an amazing new friend." She genuinely said.
"Aw… I love you too, Linnie." Lexi sang happily.
Kol smiles fondly when he watches how truly happy his human is. He knew how hard is for Caroline at the moment since she is still upset with Bonnie and Elena who "prank" her on that night. And also, that night when he could have finally got his human to notice him. However, Emily Bennett made it harder for him. As much as he respects witches, he can't help but curse them sometimes. "Before I forget, is everything okay with you and your friends yet? After that awful prank."
Caroline sighed softly as she set her hairbrush on the vanity. Her blue-green eyes stared at her reflection with her lips line in firm. "They didn't explain to me. Never came up to me and didn't even bother apologize. It's so stupid. I—" she scoffed as she shakes her head, feeling upset. "—I just don't understand what's going on with them anymore. I tried to listen to Bonnie. She said that she was being haunted by this dead witch named Emily or Emma or whatever. And it was super freaky. I actually was starting to believe there might be witches and ghosts. But I ended got fooled and they scared the shit out me. It was not cool." She ranted out in frustrated.
"And it's pissing me off that you were so close to start believing but ended up ruined by the blasted witch." Kol grumbled as he crossed his arms while leaned on the wall, sulking.
"I see… I honestly don't really know them personally. But from what I've learn about them when you told me before. I don't think they seems the type of people who would prank you and then push you away in the dark. Maybe they have reasons for it? Who knows, they might try to find a way to apologize to you sooner or later." Lexi said with soft tone.
Caroline sighed. "Maybe. I just—I really want to know what is going on. I'm not stupid."
"Of course you're not stupid!"
"You are not, darling!"
The blonde-haired beauty smiles softly when Lee speak up. "If they continue this ridiculously action that causes you pain. I will kick their asses for you, sweetcheeks." Lee promised.
Lexi scoffed. "Excuse me? You do realize Linnie is mine friend, right? Which means I have the right to bitch slap them and kick their asses." Lee and Lexi argue over who has the right to kick Caroline's best friends' asses.
Caroline chuckled with amused, grateful, and content while Kol smiles softly at his human. He is happy that Caroline isn't alone and that she has real friends. Kol likes to see her smile because Caroline Forbes is only allowed to have real smile on her face instead of wearing a frown.

Kol and Caroline stared at the wrapped small box on her car's hood. The blonde-haired beauty observed her surroundings while Kol narrowed his eyes with warily. He watches his human reached the box. "Careful, darling… you'll never know what's in it." He muttered, concerned and curious.
Caroline opened the lid and took out a pocket-watch with confused frowned on her face. "What… this is Gilbert's watch." she recognized this antique watch easily as she had seen it many times before in Founder's Family event. Kol examined the golden watch with confused, wondering why anyone leave the old pocket watch to his human.
Then her phone chime which she took out from her purse and furrowed her eyebrows when she noticed the unknown caller. She answered it. "Hello?" Kol leaned forward as he listens very attentive.
"Hello, Caroline." Familiar purred voice greeted Caroline's ears which made her and Kol displeased. Kol scowled heavily as he wishes that bastard to stop contacting his human.
"What do you want." Caroline demanded with irritated as her blue-green eyes scanned around while smooth her thumb against the old pocket-watch.
Damon chuckled husky. "Is that how you greet an old friend?"
Caroline scoffed with disbelieved. "An old friend? Really? Did you forget the time where you were the one who broke up with me. I believe your words was… 'I am so over you'. Or was that just my imagination?" She said, bitterly while Kol is proud that his human is standing up to the soon-to-be-dead vampire, he is also wondered why Damon is calling her.
"Ah… well, you see. I need a favor." Kol scoffed loudly while Caroline made astounded face with her jaw slightly slack. "And I promise that I will make your effort worth it." Damon purred seductively.
Kol glared at the phone, hoping that asshole could feel his hatred eyes. Caroline chuckled in disbelieved amazed and astonished by this. "What makes you think I would be interested, Damon?"
"Come on, it's me."
The blonde-haired beauty shakes her head as she placed her palm with the pocket-watch on her temple. "You are unbelievable. So hilariously ridiculously cocky arrogant man I had ever displeasure to met in my entire life. And that is saying something." She dropped her hand while clutching hard around the object. "I don't even know why the hell I'm still talking to you. I'm hanging up." Kol nod his head with approved of his human's action.
"Wait! Please!" Caroline paused and waited quietly while Kol scowled. "I seriously do need your favor. If you do this, I promise I won't ever come near you again." Kol's scowling dropped to thoughtful with caution eyes.
"…you will?" the blonde-haired beauty raises her eyebrow, she truly wants him to leave her alone.
"Yes. I promise."
Caroline bit her lip with contemplative then sighed heavily in resigned. "Fine, what the hell do you want?" She leaned against her car while Kol step forward and noticed his human's shivered slightly from the chill. The blonde-haired beauty adjusted her jacket closer to her body for warmth. Kol sighed at this, he wishes he could find a way for her to notice him but he will figure it out later.
"The pocket watch." the blue-green eyes dart down at the antique watch in her hand. "It's a very special kind and I need you to follow the direction for me."
The blonde-haired beauty frowned with confused. "Why? Couldn't you do that instead?" she used her thumb to flip the lid open and Kol noted how this pocket watch looked rather unique compass instead.
"No questions ask. Just do as I say and the faster this is, the quicker you won't ever deal with me again." Caroline rolled her eyes and grabbed the empty box from the car's hood.
"Fine." She snapped, went to her side of the driver door, unlocked it, and climbed on the driver seat while Kol went through the passenger door to the seat. He watches his human prepared for the drive. Caroline turned on the speaker of her phone and set in the empty cup holder and turned on the engine. Her left hand on the wheel while her other hand carrying the compass. "This is so weird, I thought this is a pocket watch, not a compass." She muttered, confused.
"I seen strangers thing, darling." Kol commented, indifferently. He wondered where this compass will be taking them to?

Warehouse
It took Caroline nearly hall an hour to reach the destination of where the compass lead her. She observed her surrounding of the empty location while Kol eyeing the suspicious warehouse. "I'm here. Wherever this place is." She already explained the address.
Her blue-green eyes glanced down at the compass that was pointing at the building. "So, what do I do now?"
"I hope that arsehole is not asking you to go inside that dirty suspiciously warehouse." Kol commented dryly. He doesn't trust Damon and do not want his human —who is fragile and easily breakable— into the warehouse alone.
"Just wait. I'll be there in a minute."
Caroline sighed loudly with impatience. "Can you hurry? I really don't want to deal with this any longer than I have to."
"I seconded that, love." Kol doesn't want that soon-to-be dead vampire anywhere near his human. Suddenly, Damon appeared behind Caroline which Kol rolled his eyes unimpressed.
"You can give me that." Damon's voice startled Caroline as she turned around in surprise to see him in flesh. She lowered her phone and hang up. The blonde-haired beauty handed the compass to him and step back.
"You promise to leave me alone, for now on?" Caroline asked, suspiciously while Kol glared hatefully at Damon who gave Caroline's scars.
Damon smirked at her with faux-flirtatiously. "You sure you don't wanna give me another chance." He winked at her which made Kol growled while Caroline scoffed.
"Did you forget that fact that you verbally, mentally and physically abused me?" Damon's smirk dropped while Caroline smirk darkly. "I still have those scars left on my skin. And I hated it." She hisses angrily while glared at him. "Now leave me the hell alone. Be grateful I have not call my mother, the Sheriff, to report minor abuser." She whirled around and back to her car while Kol glanced at the warehouse and Damon.
"She may not report her mother about you. But that doesn't mean you are safe from me, Damon Salvatore." Kol promised as he walked backward. "I hope you get beat up by whatever is in there." He grumbled and quickly went in the car before Caroline start to drive.

Later…
Kol scanned around with curious yet boredom as it's a career fair day as there are many tables covered with different type of jobs and colleges. Caroline sauntered around while skim over table after table with neutral interest. "I wonder what your dream career is, love." Kol muttered, curious about his human's goal for her future.
It took a moment for Caroline to find a specific career after she greeted and exchanged a brief smile and talk to fellows' students. She paused at the table of broadcast journalism. Her blue-green eyes stared at it dreamily.
"Huh… seems fitting." Kol muttered, he could easily see his human doing this job, especially that she is very good at being in interrogation, attentive, and intelligent.
Caroline turned around and saw her mother ambled around which she quickly paces up her walk to her. "Hey mom, come here." Kol watched the blonde-haired beauty lead her mother to one of the booths.
"What are you doing?" Sheriff Forbes asked her daughter curiously.
The blonde-haired beauty smiles shyly. "Following my future." They approached a booth and Caroline pointed to the banner. "There it is." She said, excited, hopeful, and slightly nervous.
Sheriff Forbes stared at the banner with astonishment. "Broadcast journalism?"
"Yes. Broadcast journalism." The blonde-haired beauty nods her head and glanced at her mother who looked at her skeptically while Kol frowned. "Why are you looking at me like that?" Caroline asked, defensive and edgy.
Her mother half-chuckled awkwardly. "You don't even read the paper."
Kol frowned deeply at this and saw how hurt his human is when she doesn't have any supportive from her mother. The blonde-haired beauty just shakes her head and walked out angrily without any words. "Darling…" the Original murmured and glanced at ashamed glint in Caroline's mother's eyes and followed his human out.

Caroline left a voicemail message to Bonnie as she doesn't have any rides since her mother was the one who drove them to the Career Fair. "Bonnie, where are you? I need a ride so I'm all ready to leave. I'm outside so…yeah." She hangs up and folded her arms around her attempt to warm up.
Kol observed his surroundings as he finds none of the risk of danger to his human. His dark eyes shifted back to the blonde-haired beauty. "I'm sorry, sweetheart. I know how much you want your mother's support for your future." He wants to comfort her so badly. The bad boy Original extend his fingertips and lightly brush his human's cheek.
Caroline shivered as she felt the cold on her cheeks. She rubbed her cheeks to warm up and Kol sighed but his dark eyes glint with amused and fondly at her silly antics.
Then an SUV drove up. "Hey, damsel in distress, need a ride?" Kol narrowed his eyes at the driver in distrustful.
"Oh my God. Logan Fell, channel nine, is that you?" Caroline sarcastically gasps when she greeted the man behind the wheels.
Logan chuckled while Kol has a bad feeling about this. "I used to babysit you, Caroline Forbes. Don't mock me."
Caroline just smiles and glanced at her phone. "I am waiting for Bonnie to return my call. Hoping she would give me a ride home." She explained as she waves her phone.
"It's not a problem, really. It's on my way." Logan assured her which Caroline stare at him thoughtfully.
Kol shakes his head. "No. I don't think so. Not a good idea, sweetheart." He warned his human who, unfortunately didn't hear him.
Caroline nod her head. "Okay." She walked around the SUV which make Kol growled with irritated but quickly following her closely.
"I don't like this."
Once the blonde-haired beauty climbed in and shut the door. Kol shivered as he went through the SUV and sat on the backseat. His dark eyes stared at Logan with wary. "You know, this is fate." Caroline said as she turned her head to Logan.
"No. it's not." Kol muttered while eyeing at the suspicious man.
"And why is that?"
Caroline smiles widely as her eyes sparkle with interest. "Because I'm interested in broadcast journalism. So can I ask you a couple of questions?" she asked, hopeful. Kol glanced at them both back and forth, apprehensive.
The newsman nods his head. "Anything you want. But first—" he stared at her with a serious face. "—buckle up."
"Okay." Caroline answered with serious face then smiles. She reaches around for her seatbelt however, Logan slammed her head against the window, and knocked her unconscious.
"CAROLINE!" Kol watched in horror at the blood smear on the glass where Logan knocked her out. The newsman starts driving out of the parking lots, unaware that Matt watched Caroline leaving in SUV with Logan Fells with indifferent face.

.
"I am going to enjoy murder you by ripping your head off." Kol hisses with murderous glint in his dark eyes. How dare this filthy fucking vampire harm his precious human. No one gets away with hurting her, spilled her blood and left mark on her skin.
Logan called numbers on his phone and left it on a speaker. Once the called picked up as he is driving his car with smug smirked on his face.
"Where are you?" Kol recognized Caroline's mother's voice.
Logan chuckled evilly. "Your daughter has expressed an interest in journalism. I think it's important to foster young minds." He answered.
Kol growled angrily as he glared hatefully at the bastard vampire.
"What do you want?" Sheriff Forbes asked with anxious and worried.
The vampire hummed. "The satisfaction of turning your daughter into a vampire."
"If you ever dare touch my human with your filthy so-called pathetic fangs. I will end you." Kol vowed as there are sudden chills in SUV. Logan's smugness smirk fell when he felt the cold.
He exhaled and noticed the smokes from the cold and his body shivering which is very strange since the air conditioning is off. Logan stopped at the intersection with apprehensive.
Suddenly, Stefan appeared with his vamp speed, opened the door and dragged Logan out of the car, threw him straight to the pavement. Kol blinked in surprised to see Stefan. "Mate!" he is happy to see Stefan then snarled when he saw Damon came out of the woods with a gun that he pulled triggered at Logan.
Damon smirked. "Payback's a bitch, isn't it." He glanced at his younger brother. "Get her out of here."
Stefan nod his head, walked around the SUV to the passenger's side, opened the door and retrieve Caroline in bridal-style.
Kol was relieved that his human is saved by Stefan that he grew to like. However, he still loathed Damon even though the soon-to-be-dead vampire saved his human. Stefan vamp speed out of the area with Caroline. "Ah shit!" Kol's felt the sharp tug that causes him in agony as he shut his eyes with loud groaned and almost immediately, he blackout.

Caroline's Bedroom
Later…
"Fuck… so that's what happened if I don't catch up to you, darling." Kol groaned loudly as he opened his eyes, staring at the familiar ceiling that he knew he is in his human's bedroom. Kol pushed himself up from the ground and surprised to see the Sheriff Forbes sitting on the edge of the bed while stroking her daughter's hair in her slumber.
Kol could see the worried, relief and content in his human's mother's eyes. "No matter what, you still love your daughter, huh?" he muttered, he is glad to know that Caroline will always have her mother at the end of the day, no matter how much they both fought, angry, frustrated, grief, throwing tantrums, and ignored each other. Yet, they both still loved each other. He wondered when was the last time he ever felt mother's love?
The bad boy Original shakes his head and watched the mother watching over her daughter. Until her phone goes off and she leaves the room to answer by the doorway. "Yeah, I'll be right there." She hangs up, giving one last glanced at her sleeping and safe daughter on her bed and shut the door quietly.
Kol step forward to the edge of the bed and gently stroke the back of his fingers to Caroline's face. He allows to feather-like touches her peaceful face. "I am so sorry, love. I failed to protect you." He whispered, sadly and resigned.
He really hates being useless.
And just when will he ever return to his body?
